Get 10% Cashback Every Saturday in December (Max $30 Back Per Transaction) Using Tap & Pay @ Zip

8761

There seems to be a lot of confusion based on the comments so let me try and clarify how this works:

  1. Sign up to Zip Pay. Not Zip Money. You can use the 'Related Offers' at the bottom of this description for new signup options. Note that you must provide your email address or phone number if you want a referral, there’s no referral link and you can’t be referred without that info!
  2. Download the Apple or Android app and sign in with your details. You will need a smartphone with NFC.
  3. Go to the "Cards" tab within the Zip app. Click on Add to Apple Wallet (or Google Wallet if using android).
  4. Go to any store that accepts tap & go on credit/debit cards. Do not ask if they accept Zip Payment as this is a separate payment method.
  5. Purchase anything (any gift cards, services, goods, literally anything) and checkout with Apple Pay or Google Pay by tapping your digital Zip card on Saturday. Do not spend more than $300 in one transaction if you want to maximise your benefit as you won't get 10% back above $300!
  6. You should see the rewards balance reflected under "Rewards" within the "Your Zip" tab of the app immediately.
  7. Once you have reached $30 in credit, click on the redeem button to apply the credit to your account.
  8. Pay off your Zip account by linking a credit card to earn points and defer payment (The screen says debit card but many have confirmed credit cards to work as well - Amex will not work). It takes 3 days for processing payments to finalise and you cannot make additional payments sooner than that.
Things to note:
  • Applying for a Zip account will trigger a credit check.
  • Redeemable once you've reached $30 in credit (I.e. Min spend $300)
  • Rewards balance will continue accruing even if you don't redeem $30.
  • There's no daily limit. The only limit is your credit limit.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay don't have a $100 tap and pay limit like normal cards. The limit is unlimited since you biometrically authenticate yourself at the time of payment.
  • You cannot prepay your zip account via BPAY so that it goes into credit. I contacted Zip and they informed me that since they’re not a bank they’re not allowed to hold deposits. If you prepay your account you will be breaching their T&Cs and your account may get blocked. It will take a few days to unblock. Do so at your own risk, some have reported success while others have confirmed they got blocked.
  • You cannot make payments online.
  • Max $30 back per transaction.
  • Excludes Westfield gift cards purchased from Westfield
  • On days other than Saturday, you can still earn 3% or 5% cash back that will accrue towards your rewards balance.
  • Within a twenty-four (24) hour period, you (a) are limited to redeeming your Reward Goal eight (8) times, and (b) will not earn any further credit back if you spend $4,000 or more.
  • 10% back on Super Saturdays will override all other cashback offers with lower % back.
  • By end of 8 January 2021, any credit back that has not reached the Reward Goal will be cancelled.

  • Has anyone had any issues at Auspost?
Trying to pay a bill with tap and go, keep getting a read error on their device..
Note it's their larger payment device if that makes a difference
Using Google Pay with the Zip card linked.. each time it just gives a read error

    • Depending on which bill you are paying, some of them do not accept mastercards

      • I got the same problem when I tried to pay rent at Austpost.

    • Paid 3 bills and 2 went though fine except for origin where they don't apparently only accept cash or debit cards. This is treated as credit. Just tell them its visa credit tap and should be fine for others

      • I'm wondering if Telstra bills can be paid with zip, I'd pay a year in advance by using bpay if possible.

        • It's tap to pay so you'll have to be in a store.

  • Can we get a beginners guide posted or stickied

Guessing it’s ideally get referral then download app and follow the rest right?

Repayment wise is like standard credit card and u have to eft to pay it off?

    • That’s right. You can PM OP or me, or a million other people for a referral lol.

I think it’s just the standard fees
      https://zip.co/hc/en-us/articles/360001568616-What-are-the-f…

      • So I repay with credit card? They asked for a card when signing up (sry already got referral)

So I can pay down zip with credit card and then just deal with my credit card as usual?

  • Is it just me or does woollies no longer sell Wish gift cards? All I see at my local are WW, “essentials” (WW/Big W) and Big W ones…

    • +1

try another wws, the one i just visited got plenty of wish cards

    • That is definitely not normal

    • My local wws put the wish/wws gift cards outside the entrance only. Cannot find them in the gift card corner in store.

Wired. Had to come out and grab one.

  • Try to invite my friend but failed. He never used ZIP. Does anyone know the reason?

  • It doesn't seem the credit is avail after first $30 claims ? Sorry take that. Need to close app and relogin. Good now

  • +1

Am I the only one who can't see the rewards section under my zip account? I called zip and they are not sure why either.

    • Post a screenshot of the Your Zip tab

    • I think perhaps you need to sign up for tap & zip first?

      • It has been enabled and added to my Google pay already, I even made a purchase with it, hence why I am concerned.

    • Looks like an old version… Update if possible?

It's missing the "I want to section" as well

    • It is technical glitch, my friend has the same problem and after many emails they have finally added it back but the cashback before it was added back was not added and now will have to take a few more emails to get it fixed. So just ask them to escalate with tech team to fix it. Yiu may missed today cashback but you still can use next week.

Or if you want to take the gamble then just spend today and ask them to credit back once they fix it.

    • Same boat here. Please keep us updated on how customer service goes!

  • -1

After following their direct instructions, nothing but hassles with Zip Pay 3% offer here. Spent money and no cashback, one week later. Numerous phone calls and emails - still waiting for someone to actually explain what is going on. Customer service is pretty poor. The app is not much better. I suggest that you check your rebates and follow up as needed.

    • Did you use TAP and pay?

      • Indeed. Spent 10 minutes talking to their rep about getting it set up before first use. The process kept on crashing on my phone. Then the card would not add to my wallet. But yes, all per their advice.

  • Reward tracks immediately after purchase, immediately redeemable for $30. May need to pull down on the page to refresh it. Easy money.

  • +1

They don’t explain their setup well

But just used at cafe and seeing the 10% back

Don’t understand how I pay this off however or get the cash back? I’m assuming it’s discount on next purchase?

Any basic explainer on zip ? Their site is pretty meh

    • This promotion cashback doesnt allow you to claim until you hit the reward milestone, which is $30 of rewards.

You can pay off the zip when the transaction is no longer pending, using the make additional payment option by clicking your card under the Your Zip > Zip Pay.

      • Right so I can use the rewards balance to pay down what I need to pay to zip?

And I can use my credit card to pay down that balance and then it’s just like usual credit card payment?

        • Depends on whether your credit card counts paying Zip Pay as a normal transaction or a cash advance. Seems most treat it as a normal transaction but you never know.

    • +1

      Zip's explanation is remarkably poor.

  • +1

I need to buy an item for $130 today at BigW, was after some advice on the best method to claim this offer?

Do I need to spend a minimum of $300 to get any discount? I read it as max $30 discount, not minimum spend $300.
So I can't spend the $130 and get 10% back on that amount?

If that's the case I'd have to buy $300 worth of gift cards and pay with that?

    Would appreciate any advice :)

    • +1

You can spend 130 and get 13 rewards balance.

You’ll need to hit 30 rewards balance to claim it - so get a $170 gift card while you’re at it if you don’t plan on spending anywhere else.

      • Thanks dude.

Any idea if I can spend 130 today and the rest nest week or is each week a separate promotion?

        • +1

Can spend the rest any Saturday in December for 10% back or other days for 3%.

Any part reward that hasn't reached $30 by Jan 8 is forfeited.

          • @cooni: Thanks mate, appreciate you

  • +8

Seems like it works online too. Ordered through KFC app and used Google pay that has ZIP pay as payment method then I can see the 10% cash back for that transaction.

    • That's very interesting insight, thanks.

    • Can anyone else confirm?

  • Just bought $ 300 wish gift card at woolies and it tracked immediately for 30 dollars.

  • -2

Just a reminder any gift card purchased using zippay tap and pay will not be instantly usable due to pending transaction on your zippay account.
It will take 1-5 days until you can use that gift card.
I purchased a few Amazon, Big W and other gift cards today but unable to redeem or use them as it keep saying GC invalid.
After checking my zippay account apparently there's pending transaction on this. Apparently happens on my other family members account also.

    • Uhh. Nope. Thats standard. I could use my Swap gift cards immediately though.

      • Are you able to top up your zippay account? or its payment pending on the gc purchase?
So far I tried amazon gift cards and it keep saying invalid.
Got the cards from Auspost and Petrol station.

        • Pending transaction, which is standard for all card purchases.

          • @ATangk: Yea that could be the reason my amazon gc is invalid xD

            • +1

@Meaty: What you’re saying makes no sense. If you used Tap and Pay, Zip has no idea what you bought and can’t block the gift cards. If you went to Coles and spent $300, Zip would not know if you spent $300 on gift cards or $300 on a Christmas ham. It’s probably the retailer you bought it from that hasn’t activated the cards properly.

              • @bargainbro: Yea could be that factor also, I wonder whether I should wait few days to use the card or come back to place I bought them? One closed already today which is Auspost :(

                • @Meaty: The receipt literally says wait 24 hours for activation… That said, mine are activateable now, 3 hrs after purchase.

                  • @ATangk: My Amazon gift activate after 3 hours. Since yours activate after 3 hours, it could be the same with others also then.

    • It says on your gift card:
May take 24 hours for activation

      They aren’t joking.

    • Nope, just got instant 300 for big W GC

  • +5

Bought $1,650 worth of gift cards today.
Went to 3 different 7 elevens, 1 Coles and 1 bunnings.

Got 18x $50 Amazon gift card, 1x $50 eBay gift card, 1x $100 prepaid coles mastercard, $450 coles myer gift card, and $150 bunnings.

    • +1

      BEAST lol

    • So by end of the first Saturday, I have $15 zip credit that can't be claimed. This will be claimable after I did my rounds on the second Saturday.

3rd and 4th Saturday will net another $15 and $15.

So the total max credit for me will be $660.

    • +2

Be more efficient. Go to Aus Post they have variable value Amazon gift cards which can be claimed for anywhere between $30-500

      • Thanks for the tip. My nearest Aus Post is closed on Saturday.

        • +3

I mean… you went to 3 7-elevens… Surely theres one that is open.

    • Hey Dude, I'm Millzy. Let's be friends?

Tip - Fill up your fuel tank, buy groceries on Saturday (or if you are planning mid-week, then buy the retailer gift cards on Saturday and use it for your mid-week grocery/fuel run)

    • Do you know that there is another 3% off that can be used during weekdays. That would be a better option to spend during midweek.

      • You will still lose out on 7%

        • How? Most Gift cards don't expire.

I reckon last day to use is Thursday. Transactions will be finalised on Saturday.

      • Sorry but I dont see how 3% is better than 10% off. As bajirao suggested, its better to buy giftcard at 10% off today and pay with the giftcard midweek

        • +1

Buy gift cards on Saturdays. Keep these gift cards and don't use them until next year.

During midweeks, use the 3% off promo.

    • This

  • If i pay my water or electricity bill at Auspost with Zip tap will the 10% off apply?

    • +1

      Yes

    • Yes why not.. but use gpay or apple pay not the usual zip pay mechanism.
I didn't even know you can go to auspost and pay your utility bills. Will check my bills!!

      • I tried - but lady at auspost said only eftpos and cash. No credit cards
This was yarra valley water bill
Damn, would have been nice to get 10% back

        • I managed to do it. You need to tell them you're paying with VISA debit so they can select the right option on their terminal.
At first I just said debit and the cashier selected eftpos and it didn't work.

          • @lorikeet: Did you not get extra charge though? For bills it’s usually bpay etc which doesn’t have surcharge.

            • @ATangk: No extra charge. My bill have a "Post Billpay Pay in person" option with a barcode.
The cashier scans the barcode on the bill and I pay the excact amount without any surcharge.

  • I got approved instantly, and my limit is $1,000.

I noticed many people say $500? I'm not sure why mine said $1,000.

All it asked me for was my driver's licence and a credit card. Maybe I have amazing credit??

    • +2

$1000 is default for new users. Older accounts can go up to $1500.

      • Awesome, is it worth keeping Zip Pay long term? Do they do offers regularly?

As I know it stays on the credit record.

Do I find payment details in the app? So I'd use BPay to transfer money there? I listed one of my debit cards, is it ok to pay via that? It's cash anyways.

        Thanks!

Anyone made a sticky of current discounted gift cards? Do you think it'll last til next week, or today's the only day?

Gotta hope BigW has some cards, or lets me bring them from WW. It's tempting to grab eBay, or Amazon. Are they from Auspost?

        • You should purchase today as today you get 10% via Zip.

          • @Xishnik: It's every Saturday for the month, isn't it?

But yes, I'm going to try BigW in half an hour and hope I find $1000 of gift cards which would be $900!!

I'm just thinking about next Saturday, maybe finding some Amazon or Ebay cards!

            • @[Deactivated]: Yes every Saturday this month.

Coles has 2000 flybuys points when buying a $50 eBay giftcard. That isn't too bad either.

              • @Xishnik: eBay card at Coles? Amazon at AusPost?

That's be good, 2,000 points plus the 10%.

Do we know how many weeks these cards are on sale? I guess I'll see what I can do at BigW and hope for the best next Saturday.

I really want 19% off JB, and just save it til PS5s are in stock!

                • +2

@[Deactivated]: IKEA gift card 10% at Woolworths using this another 10%.

                  • @fishandchips: I basically saw all the gift cards but His/Her.

I spose 10% saving is good minimum, but I was hoping for more.

I found none in Big W or WW nextdoor. Bummer

              • +2

@Xishnik: I hate flaybuys, they made you jump so many hoops just to spend the lousy $10 reward dollars. ww is much better.

  • +2

Finish my shopping, bought $300 wish gift card. $300 eBay gift card. $250 Coles MasterCard. $50 dollars Coles myer gift card.

Spent $907 dollars in total ($7 dollars surcharge on the $250 MasterCard gift card), received $90 dollars rewards instantly form Zip pay. I think I also earned in total 4000 flybys points.

Can’t find any cards on bigw but I am happy with my purchase.

    • +1

      3 more Saturdays to go!

      • Bigw him/her ends Wednesday, so unless they do another sale no luck.

    • am i reading this post right, i thought you are only allowed to buy up to 300 bucks worth during the entirety of Saturday, and on 2nd look, i am wrong.

      • +1

No I bought 3 lots of $300 gift cards and received $30 each transaction

  • i am exploring the zip app and see if it has auto repay in full on due date, i can not find any. then again i am new to zip. so maybe i am not look at the right place?

    cheers.

    • +1

no. there is no option for that.

    • +3

They just charge you minimum in the hope they can charge you the fees.

    • +1

Just a small problem but see how much you spent and pay that back. Thats what I do for CC tbh.

  • This would work all Saturday, including later tonight if I found Amazon at BP? I doubt it, but may as-well grab $500 with 10%. Someone mentioned you can stack Amazon GC with CashBack most the time? I might be wishing.
