Get 10% Cashback Every Saturday in December (Max $30 Back Per Transaction) Using Tap & Pay @ Zip

8761

There seems to be a lot of confusion based on the comments so let me try and clarify how this works:

  1. Sign up to Zip Pay. Not Zip Money. You can use the 'Related Offers' at the bottom of this description for new signup options. Note that you must provide your email address or phone number if you want a referral, there’s no referral link and you can’t be referred without that info!
  2. Download the Apple or Android app and sign in with your details. You will need a smartphone with NFC.
  3. Go to the "Cards" tab within the Zip app. Click on Add to Apple Wallet (or Google Wallet if using android).
  4. Go to any store that accepts tap & go on credit/debit cards. Do not ask if they accept Zip Payment as this is a separate payment method.
  5. Purchase anything (any gift cards, services, goods, literally anything) and checkout with Apple Pay or Google Pay by tapping your digital Zip card on Saturday. Do not spend more than $300 in one transaction if you want to maximise your benefit as you won't get 10% back above $300!
  6. You should see the rewards balance reflected under "Rewards" within the "Your Zip" tab of the app immediately.
  7. Once you have reached $30 in credit, click on the redeem button to apply the credit to your account.
  8. Pay off your Zip account by linking a credit card to earn points and defer payment (The screen says debit card but many have confirmed credit cards to work as well - Amex will not work). It takes 3 days for processing payments to finalise and you cannot make additional payments sooner than that.
Things to note:
  • Applying for a Zip account will trigger a credit check.
  • Redeemable once you've reached $30 in credit (I.e. Min spend $300)
  • Rewards balance will continue accruing even if you don't redeem $30.
  • There's no daily limit. The only limit is your credit limit.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay don't have a $100 tap and pay limit like normal cards. The limit is unlimited since you biometrically authenticate yourself at the time of payment.
  • You cannot prepay your zip account via BPAY so that it goes into credit. I contacted Zip and they informed me that since they’re not a bank they’re not allowed to hold deposits. If you prepay your account you will be breaching their T&Cs and your account may get blocked. It will take a few days to unblock. Do so at your own risk, some have reported success while others have confirmed they got blocked.
  • You cannot make payments online.
  • Max $30 back per transaction.
  • Excludes Westfield gift cards purchased from Westfield
  • On days other than Saturday, you can still earn 3% or 5% cash back that will accrue towards your rewards balance.
  • Within a twenty-four (24) hour period, you (a) are limited to redeeming your Reward Goal eight (8) times, and (b) will not earn any further credit back if you spend $4,000 or more.
  • 10% back on Super Saturdays will override all other cashback offers with lower % back.
  • By end of 8 January 2021, any credit back that has not reached the Reward Goal will be cancelled.

            • @cooni: I think its disabled when you add Zip to Apple Pay. Just re-directs me to pay via CC when I click the Apple Pay Repayment link.

            • @cooni: Yes there definitely is an option to pay with apply pay but it doesn’t appear every time for me..

  • so paying zip off with my cc doesn't incur any fees on the cc in the form of cash advance? Seems like you paying with credit and then paying off credit with credit?

    • +1

It's entirely at the discretion of the bank you get your credit card from. All I know is my CBA card doesn't treat it as a cash advance.

      • Tacking on to the few comments above, has anyone used a Westpac card to pay zip balances off, wondering if it shows up as a cash advance or normal transaction.

        • Shows as a normal transaction (no cash advance fee) on my Westpac card.

        • +1

I used my Westpac card to pay my zip balance and had no fees… so I assume that it would also count towards my $3000 spend requirement?

  • Somehow I ended up creating a Zip Money account first… And then eventually created a Zip Pay account.

Does that mean I just received 2 x credit checks??

Is it worth keeping the Zip Money account open? OR should I just close it and use the Zip Pay account only?

  • Where can I go for my referral code? How do I invite friends to Zip?

  • +1

Can you get the referral bonus + $15 Zip Offer (https://zip.co/promotion/activate-15)?

If so, what steps do you take? Tried to sign up, but they straight up request for my details and I don't want to muck this up.

    Thank you!

    • Keen to know if we can stack the two (i.e. referral bonus and $15 zip offer) too.

Gut feeling probably says a no as they're two separate links, but you never know!

  • Hey guys, trying to find where the Netflix $20 card is 25% off. It says at Coles as per the post at the top but cant find mention of the 25% off in the Coles catalogue (only the flybuys points bonus). trying to work out how they manage to get the 35% off stacked deal for this weekend 12/12
    Cheers

    • +1

You get 1000 flybuys points when buying a $20 Netflix card which equates to $5 off (I.e. 25% off). You'll get an additional $2 off with zip so it'll come to $13 for a $20 card which equates to 35% off.

  • Sorry for the lazy question, any fees or costs with using zip? I read somewhere there's $6 monthly fee? I assume if we don't pay balance straight away? Thanks.

    • There is no $6 fee if you pay your closing balance in full.

Your Zip Pay account has a monthly account keeping fee of $6. However, this is only charged when you have an outstanding balance at the end of the month.

You'll receive a statement with the closing balance of the month on the 1st day of the following month. You have until the end of the month to pay off your balance for the account to remain fee-free.

  • Has anyone managed to resolve the issue of there being no rewards section in the app?

Last Saturday I spent incrementally up to $1000 per the requirements but that glorious $100 cashback is still out of reach.

I put through a request to customer service a few days back but still no reply. Saturday is fast approaching.

    • INTERESTING.

I checked my ticket inbox within Zip's Help Center and I can no longer see my open request. Can't tell if it is currently being actioned but I certainly have not received the cashback as of yet.

Can anyone associated with Zip look into case number 3107044?

      Many thanks in advance.

      • +2

Update: called them - ticket was escalated to Team Leader and will be reviewed soon. For anyone in my situation with the glitch, the Zip staff said it's all good to continue spending as per the T&C's and the cashback will eventually be provided.

  • Hi all

Say I but 10 $100 gift cards totalling $1k which is the limit on zip pay. Can I pay off $1k straight away then buy another $1k worth of gift cards? Was gonna get my partner to buy gift cards on another zip account but if this works then I can just do all by myself

    • +1

You can't repay until the transactions are settled (not pending) which can take a few days

  • I assume the referral $10 bonus won't stack with $15 credit after $50 spend? Thanks

  • I have read a few comments in this thread about using BPAY to increase the available balance in Zip above your approved limit (mine is $1,000), but cannot find any comments that this actually works, can anyone confirm they have done this to enable more spending on Saturday.

    • Would like to know other's experience too as I have just paid my amount owing by BPAY, then noticed I could pay the amount in app which I did.

Will see what amount shows in the next day or 2 when the bpay goes through and advise.

    • You can test it yourself and even if it works just keep it off the public at least for this month unless you want to see some changes done. BPay takes 2 days for balance to show up so Thursday before 4pm should be the cut-off time.

      • +2

Confirming overpaying with bpay with give you extra spending limit, but it takes a while, my payment on Tuesday night just showed up this morning.

    • where do you find your Bpay number from? can't for the life of me find it in the app..?

      • you need to have owing balance, then the Make Additional Pay option will become available, then you will have Pay by Bpay as an option for payment.

  • Any maximum per day for cash back? Sorry noob here, Saturday we can do 3 x $300 transactions and get $90? Also to pay the full balance we can use credit card without getting any fees? Thanks.

    • See here. The maximum is just your spending limit.

For cash advance, see here. Had no issues on my Coles Mastercard.

      • Thanks for your reply. Appreciate it

  • Guys I am looking to purchase Jbhifi giftcards with zippay. Has anyone bought Jb Hifi GC with zippay and got the discount?

Hoping Jb Hifi has enough GCs in store. Do they have any limit on how many we can purchase in one transaction ?

    • +1

I bought some last Saturday 3 x $100 cards, had the notification and reward points in my account by the time I had left the store. Just make sure that you do it in $300 lots as has been mentioned above - that way you maximise your rewards.

  • hi guys, I just signed up but how come I am unable to refer my friend? Where can I send the invite link from?

    • +1

It's an invite only system, not everyone has access

      • -4

So why mod change it to PM only then. If you have the referral link before it still works, so at least leave the referral system as is for those who had it.

    • +1

If you have it: Settings > Invite a friend and earn $10 credit (below promotion heading).

You will need the users email or phone number to send them an invite.

      • Thank you.

Just checked on my ZIP App phone. There's no such thing.

Checked the website, but there isn't a setting page in the first place o.O

  • +3

this promo is probably gonna make me more money than their stock.

  • First time to use zip pay on Saturday, how's the $30 credit back works? After $300 purchase we will automatically get $30 back and then credit will reset to $0 again? Thanks

  • +2

What is the BEST way to buy EFTPOS cards with this on Saturday?

Theres the AUS POST - EFTPOS cards which can be bought but theres a $5.95 fee per card and the max I can put on it is $500.
So if I was to buy the EFTPOS card with a value of $494.05 + $5.95 (card fee) and paid twice with my zip tap and go ($300+$200),
Then I'm effectively paying $450 for an EFTPOS card with $494.05 credit which represents a 8.9% saving.

Is this the best option I'll have?

I understand that I could get better value buying a store specific gift card (to get the full 10% off) but I already have thousands in WISH gift cards and I don't really need any other gift cards e.g. JB HIFI etc.. So figured an eftpos card would be better as I could use it to spend on my day to day living expenses such as restaurants etc..

    • Thank you. Will follow you :)

    • Sounds good. I've been thinking the same about those disposable Mastercards for paying bills but I've never used them before so I don't know how well they work.

    • +1

Anyone know if AusPost will let you do 1x 294+5.95 + 4x $300 transactions onto one prepaid card? To make the most out of this?

      • That is exactly what I hope works .

Make sure that 1st transaction you have 5 c more .

        • Looks like the Gift Card has a $500 limit, and the other cards can only be topped up by debit (not credit as is Tap&Pay Zip)

        • @popsiee Why must have 5c more on 1st transaction ? What does that mean ?

    • will Australia post accept split payment?

      • I don't see why not.. what if I am in the unfortunate situation where I only have 300 credit left on multiple credit cards….?!

        • +2

ok will try and report back

    • Just an FYI, my original post was to ASK if anyone had a better idea than the one I posted haha. NOT to say that I had the best solution.

So more than happy to hear from anyone with any better suggestions!

      Thanks!!

      • you can then use that prepaid card to buy discount WW gc ;) if WW gc still can use to buy gc like before then inception ;)

        • +1

I'm going to try this this weekend, I'll see how it works. It's a pity that you can;t pay for your Zip balance with one of those prepaid cards….

    • I am going to try this Saturday with Auspost Prepaid Mastercards, then try to buy some Gift Cards thru my Insurance reward with another 10 % off.

      • not all reward program accept prepaid card. Suncorp is an example

        • Really? I wonder NiB will. better to ask before I do this.

      • +2

Yeah won't work, tried already. Your card will be blocked if you use it for almost anything except retail sites or in-store. I would never buy these cards as a gift, despite the name. Just check out the reviews:

        https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/australia-post-gif…

        • Thanks for the link. good to know now.

      • Just bought one of their Prepaid card (Australia Post Everyday Mastercard) and you can only pay for it via debit card..Bummer

        • Why you not wait for tomorrow for 10% credit back?

          • @j00828: Needed to go to Auspost today so thought I will try it with Zip but the payment was declined.

But after reading the reviews for eftpos gift card..saved myself a trip tomorrow

    • I can't find anything about an EFTPOS card on Auspost websites, only a prepaid (Everyday) Mastercard, a gift card by Mastercard, and a couple of travel Mastercards. The prepaid Everyday Mastercard card fee is $7.95. Do you know about the EFTPOS card from another source?

      • You can only pay with EFTPOS not credit card at Auspost for prepaid Mastercard giftcard so ZipPay won't work.

  • Can you buy TCN cards at Caltex Woolies?

  • Has anybody that got 3% instead of 10% got their issue resolved?

    • Yes, I was credited the difference after contacting them

      • really I contacted them twice they only ask me to wait, no one fixed it.

    • no, I called them twice. On Saturday they asked me to wait 2 business day. I called them today they said it will credit to me on the next payment circle. Disappointed on their customer service

  • Guys, what is the cheapest phone I can buy on short notice with NFC?

  • I was looking at referring a friend as I have an offer that gives $10 per each referral .. but it then the app wants to upload all my contacts to their servers, I'm not doing that!

    • Yes, I also just found out that crazy requirement. Very unreasonable.

    • I thought it was accessing your contacts to allow you to select a contact.

    1. For 12/12/2020 is there no option to buy multiple ebay cards with more than 10% bonus? I.e., there are no shops with discounted ebay cards like last Saturday at BigW? (apart from the obvious x1 for $50 at coles?)
    2. It says normal discount for coles is 5%, how do you get that?
  • Can you use zip to pay anywhere that accepts applepay/googlewallet? Or does it have to be a ZIP merchant?

    • Anywhere you can tap/pay with Apple or Google. I've been using it all week for normal purchases at various places (takeaways/restaurants/petrol etc). Note this is with Google Pay but I would expect Apple Pay to be the same.

      • +1

        Cool thanks!

    • +1

If you 'pay with Zip' you wont get any cash back. Only when you tap the Visa card issued by Zip in Apple/Google Wallets on phones.

      • So how exactly does it work to set up this Zip Visa card?

  • Just to clarify, has to be $300 in one transaction? Can not be $150 in coles and $150 in woolies an hour later? Thanks

    • +1

That will count as one bonus of $30.

Fire a $200 and $150 2nd bonus no credit given to next one of $50 is my assumption. checking ?

      Next Spent $320 = another bonus .

Best play is get the 19% JB HI FI cards and line up a Xbox X for $749 . They aren't the Loch Ness monster like PS5 .

      • I want a mobile phone, jb hi fi does not sell oneplus so my best bet is ebay. But unfortunately, there are no discounted ebay cards this saturday apart from 1x $50 at coles. :(

      • +1

You get cashback for all the transactions, you just claim the bonuses in $30 increments. You can stack the bonuses up & claim several at once. i.e. you will continue to accrue cashback even when you've reached the cashback milestone.

  • Got this email response from customer support.

"Please note, you can only earn rewards once per day from each merchant. So, if you grab a coffee in the morning from your local cafe and then you buy another one in the afternoon the reward will only be applied to your first transaction."

I thought people were splitting transactions to maximize the $30 reward limit?

    • Yes, last Saturday I bought from same place, $300, $300, $300 and $100 and got $100 in reward back. So I have $10 sitting there as I could only redeem $90 of it as it is redeemable in $30 increments.

      • @emboon is referring to earning rewards and not redemption. So in your case you would have earned only $30 reward and not $100.

        • +1

My point is I earnt the full amount whilst buying from the same shop.

      • So either that Zip rep is wrong, or Zip changed their conditions after getting OZBargained last Saturday.

        • I was going to sign up to buy the new ipad air, but after reading these comments, at least IMO it seems they changed their conditions. Kinda weird if that's the case as according to other Ozbargainers they haven't updated their T&Cs

        • I tried calling and the representative just referred to the email from her co-worker and reiterated you can only use it once per merchant per day.
I hate that she just piggybacked on what the email from the other rep said instead of investigating on her own.

I said its not in T&C and she said someone from accounts dept will call me back to clarify my txns.

          • @emboon: That’s strange. What was your initial query to customer support?

            • @joyfulpatrick: Its so weird. I transacted twice for more than $300 per txn so expecting $60

I only got one $30 and another $13 (which when I compute is 3% of the 2nd txn)

So I asked why I got 3% from one and 10% from the other.

Then thats the reply they gave. I asked them to explain why did I still get 3% if theres a once per merchant limit. Then she can't explain it properly and finally told me that the accounts department will clarify this for me.

In the end, she claims that there was no issue and my rewards is expected. Therefore passing me to the accounts dept to give clarification.

Tbh, I don't think she knows what to do when I probed her with that question (3% on 2nd txn) so she just passed me on so we can end the call.

              • @emboon: You should definitely be getting the 10% for the second transaction. I’ve had mine rectified but it’s frustrating when they don’t know what’s going on and make things up (I experienced the same with one of the reps).

          • @emboon: This is a tageted deal for Apple Pay only. I think it is replaced by 10% cashback on Saturday.

    • This is new! I can't find this in their T&Cs listed on website.

      • +1

Exactly what I said to their support!
