Holy *** .. wow let the retail wars begin !

  • +12

    Cheaper than 3DS….

  • tempting!!!

  • love it how .. it actually ends before JB sale begins … classic !!

  • Can anyone advise on how the cheapest way to get a Kinect with it? Are any Kinect bundles on special anywhere?

    • Xbox 360 4GB with Kinect & Kinect Adventures $278 from JB Hi-Fi:

      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/58732

      • +4

Make that $228, Microsoft are currently having a $50 cashback offer for kinect bundles.

        edit: Just read below.

        • +4

A better deal for those that just want the 360 only and not the kinect is to buy the Kinect package for $278, get the $50 back from MS, then sell it on eBay, one about to end in 52mins and its already at $147…average seems to be $150ish mark, minus fleabay fees say down to $130ish I guess in the hand. Basically you get a 4 GIG console for $98

        • -1

Yes but when real prices drop so do ebay ones.

      • Thanks for giving me credit kirt, that's nice :)

General question now about the Kinect bundle though … the deal you linked above (and the posters above are referring to) has expired… is there anything close to this deal now?
There's no really cheap bundle that I can find with a Kinect included. You could buy two $158 consoles for less than most of the bundles!!

        • +1

          Can still be bought: http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/consoles/xbox-360-4gb-ki…

You'll need to buy it on or after the 8th though to be eligible for the $50 cash back offer.

        • Buy This http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/consoles/xbox-360-4gb-ki…

          Then use this http://www.kinectoffer.com.au/

          Makes the Kinect Aprox $60ish

(Note the Kinect offer has not started yet tho)

        • +2

          Thanks .kram and brent3000 :)
I browsed JB's bundle deals but missed the "plain" 4GB Kinect pack.

I'm still stuck deciding between the standalone 4GB console and the bundles. Trying to work out what my brother would actually use versus getting the best deal but wasting money on unused extras. I'm all about the bargain, it's hard being practical!

          $158 4GB console (HN)
$228 4GB console with Kinect (JB, after $50 cash back)
          $228 250GB console (4GB HN + ebay 250GB HDD)
$298 250GB console with kinect (JB + ebay HDD)

          • and none of these include real games, so there's a few more $$
        • Thanks for giving me credit kirt, that's nice :)

No worries mate - you have made a lot of people happy with your bargain hunting!

          …oh, and welcome to Ozbargain ; )

        • $228 4GB console with Kinect (JB, after $50 cash back)???

But the price now on jb site is $338,
          http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/consoles/xbox-360-4gb-ki…

So they've increased the retail price by $60 after they know there will be $50 cashback?

    • Target catalogue http://target.dynamiccatalogue.com.au/portal?lsm has the kinect for $319

  • +10

Damn, might have to buy one on principal…

  • Just bought one for pick up instore tomorrow.

    • same, jb are likely to match or even beat it. but gerry has been a good lad lately.

  • +1

Waiting for buy one get one free :)

  • +8

Actually this could make things interesting too, in particular with that JB deal for $278 if it is still available on Thursday…would make it $228 including the Kinect:

"Buy an Xbox 360 4GB Console with Kinect or Xbox 360 250GB Console with Kinect from any Australian retailer between 08.12.2011 and 24.12.2011 and receive $50 cash-back"

    http://www.kinectoffer.com.au/

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1755936&p…

  • +1

Sigh, I JUST got HN to match JB's $169 price an hour ago. Then I come back and read this…

    • +3

pretty sure HN has a price protection for 30 days.

      Wont hurt to ask.

      • Yeh, I'm going to have to go back… I got the price matched kinect bundle @ HN yesterday, now they announce this damned rebate program.. So pissed!!

        • As a follow up - went back and got them to price match the Target deal, and it all got reinvoiced, so I can now claim the $50 back! Yah!!

      • I think it might only be 7 days, or that's what I've been hearing on their radio ads lately. I could be wrong though! :)

  • Thank you so much. Just ordered 1. Now on the lookout for those cheap 250GB HDD's on eBay.

  • So we can order a HDD and upgrade it or is it better to buy the one with higher HDD sold for $385, sorry for a dumb question , I have never owned an Xbox or any game console yet.

    • +1

About the same mate unless you want the fingerprint magnet gloss 250GB which will soon only be in Matte finish :)

  • +2

    good price… +1 for me.
How about some PS3 deals ;p

    • +1

Probably won't see any (considering I just said this means there's bound to be one soon…)
There are rumours that there's a new Xbox coming out in the new year, this could just be the usual firesale to clear stock before the new one comes around… either that or Microsoft is really in the shitters…

    • This will be the last Xmas this gen of consoles will see.

  • Can it used as a mediaplayer like ps3? What format it will play?

  • Which is better deal with Kinect or with out it , because of the 50 cash back offer

    • +1

$50 cash back offer is ONLY applied for xBox+Kinect bundle!

If you like dancing at home, get a Kinect as I think it is a better deal.

  • I have kinect and dont use it as it requires loads of room :(

  • FYI Harvey Normans are open up to 9pm tonight. =)

    • which ones?

      • most of them if not all

        • just called the gold coast stores, none are

        • I'm sorry but are you confusing today for Thursday? The latest I have come across is Broadway [NSW] and that closed at 7:00 PM.

Not saying there won't be an open store, but perhaps if you specified which state, it may help those who want to grab their console tonight.

        • None in SA

        • no not confusing. seen an ad on tv that they ar open till 9. atleast here in syd and have a 10% cashback in giftcards

        • Well my apologies. I was under the impression that it would of made it clear on their website, but I completely ignored TV advertising.

Too late for myself, so it'll have to wait until tomorrow. Thanks and apologies again.

        • no problem mate. its all good

    • +2

Sorry if I have confused some people but, I saw it on TV yesterday and I am in Victoria. My local HN which is Nunawading, VIC has this BIG sign in front of it saying it is open til 9pm tonight and I just went there this afternoon.

What DVD drive version would this bad boys be?

    • +3

It would depend on the MFR date. If you're thinking of what I am assuming, I have three letters for you - RGH.

      ;)

  • +2

Cheaper than the US. Now that's a bargain. About time too.

Just got myself one, will probably get yelled at but can't pass this up..

    • They had the kinect bundle for $199.

      • In the US?

        • Yes, also included a $50 gift card.

      • were? any link?

        • it was black friday sales on amazon us.

  • +5

I bought my first Xbox 360 in 2007 and it cost me $499.

  • Just ordered myself one… picking it up tomorrow from Chatswood chase HN :) awesome xmes gift

    • I just picked up my xbox360 from chatswood Chase HN and they had almost 60 consols stacked ontop of each other, no wonder they have reduced them so much :) well done HN

    Oh, they've been ozbargained…

@GerrardLFC - you can install the 'fat' Xbox 360 HDD to the slim console, but it does take a little tampering to get it right.

Not sure what OzBargain's thing is about such things, but if you were to YouTube 'xbox 360 fat hdd slim', you will find tutorials on how to get it done.

@kirt - TVersity + a codec pack will allow you to stream .mkv files to your Xbox 360, from your PC. I prefer this only because WMC was a bit of a pain to get working.

  • While I'm here what's the cheapest place to buy games from?

    • I get most of my games from Zavvi.com

    • +1

I don't wish to take anything away from OzBargain, but keep a bookmark on EcoGamer. You can find some games at some amazing prices posted there.

Play-Asia is a great site for games. Just keep a close eye on the region compatibility guide, as you may know, only PAL games will work in Australia. There are those which are region free, which is what the compatibility guide will assist you with.

  • I ordered 1 from JB Hifi yesterday so missed the cashback. Anyone knows how to cancel an order if it has not been dispatched?

    • +1

Return instore and buy it back to get receipt updated.

      • Could I do so? Thanks anyway mate.

P/S: I bought it online though.

        • I am in exactly the same boat - please let us know how you go with this

    • Look on the JB website, it gives you an email address, you can email them and request the order be cancelled, I did it a couple of weeks ago with an xbox, they cancelled it no problems.

    • You can just send an email to [email protected] with your order number. Be quick though, it has to be done before JB dispatch it.

      • Thanks heaps. I had already done it before you mention it though. Anyway thank a million you guys. Just wait until 12.01am tonite lol.

  • so if I buy this would it be okay to play MW3 and watch foxel without the need to upgrade the HD on it?

    • +2

Yes. MW3 will work fine with the 4GB internal storage. Worst case scenario, you could configure a 4/8/16GB USB device and use that to store content, perhaps as a temporary thing.

As for Foxtel, it should be fine. You're only downloading the app. Everything else is done online.

      • thanks mate!

wow the 16G USB's are really cheap

  • Great Deal for xBox. I think Microsoft is quite serious about xBox live now. Not only they started Foxtel on it last year, but are also planning to go deep in it with more apps. So it will not be a gaming thing anymore. May be sell the console cheap for getting more margins in xbox live accounts or games.

  • Damn, my super old 360 is still going, otherwise I'd be all over this! Unbelievable price!

  • +2

I was going to upgrade my graphics card, but now seeing this is much cheaper……..

    • Ha! Bought it for the same reason.

      • Upgrade your graphics card in your pc - games look better on pc. 360/ps3 is so old now…. the hardware that is. Heaps of restrictions on what can put into a game as every game that comes out has to work on such old hardware.

Still a great deal even if you just use it as a media center.

        • +3

Ignorance is bliss. Never look at PC version and you miss nothing.

        • +4

Just buying it for Forza4. Otherwise will sit idle ;p
