40,000 $200 Regional Travel Rebates on $400 Travel Spend Available to Victorians

6136

From Friday at 10am, the Victorian government is offering 40,000 Victorians $200 'vouchers' to travel within Victoria between December 12 and January 22 as a stimulus for the tourism industry.

You have to spend over $400 on one of the following categories to get the $200 back:
- accommodation
- tours
- local attractions

Exclusions are gaming, alcohol (except if alcohol is included in wine/brewery/distillery tasting type tour but excludes any alcohol purchased and consumed outside of the experience), fuel, food and drinks (except where packaged with an eligible expense such as a winery tour), groceries, personal items such as clothing and accessories, transport costs (rental vehicles, train and bus tickets).

It's really a reimbursement from the government though – travellers have to apply for the voucher, pay for the travel upfront and then receive a reimbursement from the government.

Still, $200 back on your trip is still $200 back!

Another 40,000 vouchers will be available on January 20, and may be redeemed for travel from January 27 to April 1, and the final batch of vouchers will be released on March 30 for use from April 6 to May 31.

Update: An extra 30,000 regional tourism vouchers will be made available to Victorians at 12PM today. Sold Out

Round 2: 40,000 vouchers will be released from 20 January 2021, 10.00am for travel between 27 January 2021 to 1 April 2021. Sold Out

Round 3: 30 March 2021, 10.00am, for travel between 6 April 2021 to 31 May 2021

  • What a freaking waste of time

  • Success. I'm another who had to use Edge to submit.

  • 1;07 pm completed, that's the hardest application I've ever had to fill out, I must have resubmitted a 1000 times.
(Mac uses, use chrome, and if there's missing radio buttons they're usually about 2 cm on the left of the dialogue.)

  • I got all the way to the end then it made me start again. Maybe time to give up

  • Did anyone put down Ozbargain as the method of knowing about this program?

    • I did!

  • +1

    I just got a SUCCESS

Used edge browser, every time a submit fails, just refresh the page. Don't press back or close your browser window.

    • Agreed. Just submitted successfully with the same method (on FF, but I guess the browser does not matter).

  • +1

Geez, it was easier getting the Ebay $99 Airpods than submitting this form.

  • +1

After failing numerous times, I think the trick is to register for an account. Once you get to the second or third page of the form click save as draft. It will then save a copy of your progress under your registered account. Do that for every page so you don’t have to restart the application if it times out. Eventually after a few attempts on each page you should be able to submit.

  • +31

Boom! Finally got it to work.

Trick seems to be registering with the Business Vic Grants Portal before going through the form (otherwise it keeps failing when you attempt to save and submit).

I took the following steps (requiring many F5 refreshes):

    1. Create an account at https://businessvic.secure.force.com/GrantsPortalRegister and login to this

    2. Complete and submit the application form at https://businessvic.secure.force.com/PublicForm?id=vrtv2020

    3. Download a PDF copy of your successful application (again, many refreshes needed)

    4. Receive a very generic email with the subject line ‘travel vouchers’

    5. Sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labour by purchasing something you’ve seen on OZB for more than the $200 you might have saved on a trip you weren’t planning on taking (if the system doesn’t lose all applications made today)

    • Thank you, this worked!

    • Finally got it submitted using this trick. Thank you!

    • You actual ripper!
This got me to the end, cheers mate

    • Thank you. This worked for me.

    • Awesome this works, been trying intermittently since morning. Thanks a lot :)

  • +1

Finally too. Yes, if you stuck on save and submit page, go and create an account first. Then will auto load the save and submit page and submit straight away!

  • While I have successfully registered, I haven't had the form load a page after refreshing now for ~1hr.
How many refreshes does it take on average to load a page successfully?

    • +1

20-30ish. Depends how quickly you refresh.

      • I was using Firefox & had refreshed ~50 times. Chrome seemed to be every 2-3 refreshes but then I was getting stuck. I wiped cookies in Firefox & started again, and finally finished (with emails & PDF). Could also have been because they got the servers working better, or restricting incoming people even more to allow current users to finish.

  • Finally got to the last level and beat the boss. Email confirmation came through.

  • Got right to the end

    Unable to Process Request
    We apologize for the inconvenience…

  • Stuck on the boss level!!!!

  • +4

So after almost three and a half hours…. it finally went through. On hindsight not sure if that was time well spent, all for the sake of $200.

  • +1

I think I’ll just wait till I’m drunk later tonight when things die down after people lose faith

  • Anyone else having trouble creating an account in the separate page? It just doesn't seem to want to submit.

    • Nevermind, got it eventually. Finally I was able to submit. Good luck Ozbargainers.

  • I created an account first then started the process, finally it worked. But then do I need to do anything now or just go to spend 2 nights $400, keep the receipt and upload evidence? Are we guaranteed for claim $200 back as we applied?

    • +1

Nope, wait for your application to be approved and the voucher (to be sent if your application was successful)

    • +2

"There will be a processing period of approximately 5 business days after your registration has been received to confirm your eligibility.
If you are confident with your eligibility, you can book your travel and travel can commence during the relevant eligible travel period.
Within 5 days, your pre-eligibility of your registration is confirmed, and if you are eligible, placed on the Regional Travel Voucher Register for a voucher.
If you are successful, you will be notified by email that you are on the Regional Travel Voucher Register."

  • At the final boss level.. but can't seem to create an account, whenever I do it tells me that the website is down for maintenance. sigh

    • +1

Have you tried the link from the comments?

    • +8

I created an account first then finally went through.

These are from the comments before:

Create an account at https://businessvic.secure.force.com/GrantsPortalRegister and login.
Complete and submit the application form at https://businessvic.secure.force.com/PublicForm?id=vrtv2020

      • +1

Thanks. I was able to create an account and complete the application, but when it came to submitting, that same endless loop and when i click 'Save and Submit' and went back to the 'Preview" page, even though I'm logged in. Hmm.. frustrating but at least one step closer?

        • I got an email about 5mins after it went error, there was a link in the email so I can login with email then resume to it. Tried twice then all good.

        • All good, finally submitted. Hoping others will be successful in their attempts soon!

          • @Shuey: how did you create the account? seems like my password kept having an error - first it says at least 13 characters with upper and lower case and special character. I met all of those, but nothing happened when I retry :(

            • @jojobaoilme: I had that same issue. I just used a different permutation and some random password that doesn't resemble my name or email and following that 13 characters etc and it finally was able to register. But it could be as simple as a time out, similar to the submission. So maybe try a few times?

              • @Shuey: doesnt work for me, but my partner tried and went through. who knows why….

      • Wuwu thanks a lot for the 2 link finally could submit within 2 mins using them and not having to waste any more time….

      • +1

        Thanks for the link wuwu!
I submitted yesterday and got through, the thing is, the email that I have received stated the following - which is confusing whether I got it or not?

        Thank you for your evaluation.

Your feedback is important in helping to shape future export activities.

If you require a pdf version of your submission, please forward this email to [email protected]

        Thank you

        The Trade Team

Please note that this is an automatically generated email.

        • If you are one of it. You should receive an email last night like mine.

Thank you for registering your details for the Regional Travel Voucher Scheme.

This email acknowledges that you are one of the successful applicants in Round 1 of the Scheme.

  • Anyone get forever looping (logged-in) at the final page at the moment?
Basically submitted and it keeps showing the same page again and again.
No application shows on the account portal page.

    • Same, but managed to get mine submitted. Kept on clicking on Save and Submit till the website gave in to my request. Good luck!

    • Mine did the same a couple of times, just had to keep trying until it got through.

    • This happened to me. Just keep on refreshing your page and it'll work. Mine was stuck in the loop for ~10 refreshes then succeeded to submission.

  • I’m having trouble getting it to accept a $ value and yes it’s over the $400 min any ideas?

    • I typed 1000 without the dollar sign and without decimal point.

      • Same, just typed '1000' and that worked. No non-numeric characters.

  • Has it already hit the cap limit? Because when I click on Save and Submit, it just goes back to the top of the final page?

    • +1

Nah, that's just a timeout error. Keep submitting and eventually it will go through to a 'submitted' page.

    • I don't believe so.
I FINALLY managed to get mine submitted. Had the same issue.
Just keep on clicking on Save and Submit. Eventually the Final Boss relented and accepted the application. Good luck!

    • +1

I kept going then eventually took me to register an account and I can't even register an account? The form just seems to reset?

      • yeh same, i cant register for account. the password section jsut keeps resetting?!?!?!

    • I think anyone can apply. They'll start approving the first 40,000 eligible in the next few days.

    • After spamming the register button, finally registered then was able to complete the application. All done.

    • Same boat.

It's an infinity loop. We're in the end game now.

Let me know if you make it through. I've hit that Save and Submit button so many times now.

      • Yeah, finally got through. Took maybe 10-15 times to register, then once registered, I was able to submit straight away.

        • Do you mean the 'Save & Submit' button?

          • @BargainJunkie: Yes, that's the final button (providing you have already registered an account). Or else it will take you to the registration page.

            • @Charles89: Did it work for you in the last 20 mins or so? Because that's how long I've been doing it haha I'm already logged in too

          • @BargainJunkie: yes i clicked save & submit button for more than 50 times

        • +1

Yeah, just registered 5-10mins ago. Just gotta keep spamming the button!

      • +1

Holy moly it finally went through!

  • +1

Program is capped at 40,000 vouchers for Round One

  • +1

It was like click & collect service at Kmart during lockdown. About ten people outside the store all trying to call the click & collect mobile number.

  • anyone have issues with creating an acocunt? the password section keeps resetting

    • +1

Just keep copy and pasting the password in and keep clicking on register, it will eventually go through.

  • +1

finally got on yes registration beforehand seems to be the key

  • +1

finally got thru thanks to others tips
but still have my QLD drivers license, so I used that number…
not sure how else to prove I'm now living down in Vic, hopefully still accepted.

    • +1

The Victorian lic you should have if you're living here :)

  • Was stuck on the infinite loop of “Save and Submit” to no avail. iPhone chrome and safari didn’t work, neither did chrome or safari on Mac.

Then I tried to make an account as others suggested, but every time I would enter details, it would refresh the page and not actually create an account. This occurred in all 4 permutations (each browser on each device).

I kept attempting to save and submit on Safari on my Mac, and eventually it just worked. It took me to the register page, where I registered for an account which worked on the first attempt, and then I reached a success page.

If you just keep sticking to it, it’ll work (or so it seems)

  • What a traumatic experience! Finally got it to work - thankyou to all that shared helpful tips and hints. I definitely would've given up otherwise.

  • After reading all these comments, I am so glad I am South Australian and planning a trip to Vic after Christmas….no chance of a voucher, and hence no website angst! See you in Bendigo (yep, managed to get a funky Air BnB before the rush…..)

  • +1

    Success Finally….
Somehow after submission of the full form I was able to go all the way back to the form and re-apply with new details for my mates…
I could manage get successful in application for another 4 families… Main page is still missing Apply now button.. hope this link helps https://businessvic.secure.force.com/PublicForm?id=vrtv2020#…

    • Thank you where is the registration button on the page you sent?
I found it by saving the draft. Put my new password in then page not found.

  • +1

Finally! Thanks for all the suggestion for those who were successful earlier to help others.

  • +1

submitted but there was no where I could upload my receipt. Am I missing something?

    • You will need to wait about a week to see if you are qualified, other comments said.

    • How coud you submit a receipt when the travel date is from tomorrow?

      • Booked accommodation for upcoming travel would be possible.

    • FAQ section mentions claim period starts from 4 January 2021.

  • wonder if they hit 40k yet
Only ozbargain people to jump through the mess of a website to get it. As it is what we do :)

  • +1

Once you've submitted and got a PDF back, is that it? Or is there an approval or confirmation required?

  • I think they have hit 40K - as it keeps returning me to the submit page. I see the message Program is capped at 40K voucher for Round one upon submitting.

    • Same for me

    • That message was there from the beginning. It’s just letting people know there is a cap.

  • Merged from Direct Link for - $200 TRAVEL VOUCHER by Victorian Govt

  • Managed to snag one just then, had 2 tabs constantly refreshing on final page

    • +1

When you say final page, do you mean the page the Preview page?

      • +1

Yep, that one. Thinks its the one where most people are stuck on

        • +1

So you were refreshing the page, or hitting the 'Save and Submit' btn?

          • +1

@smokenmirraz: Hitting the Save and Submit button

            • +1

@philchu: Thanks, I tried opening the same link in another browser but when i do that it tries to start a new application lol

              • @smokenmirraz: No worries, best of luck! Ye not sure how mine got through, was probs down to pure luck, but thats the method that worked for me

                • @philchu: Finally got it… thanks for the confidence booster to keep trying :) Thankfully I registered earlier today on a previous attempt. What a day lol

  • +3
