Not bad, if you are using the mobile mainly for playing game this is a decent option.

Unlike the grey import ROG Phone 3, much better price for an Aus version of the phone with proper warranty.

  • +8

At this price, I would 100% buy it, but the lack of NFC kills it.

    • +2

Yeah for me personally, no NFC and average camera kills it.

Would be great for those playing competitive gaming on Android, or as a second phone.

      • +2

Camera isn't a deal-breaker for me since I carry my mirrorless to most places, but NFC has become essential with Google Pay

  • I think lack of SD Storage kills this mainly for me.. Otherwise good emulation pad on the go.

    • I've actually never needed more than 256gb of storage, even 128gb is usually fine for me.

Why would you be needing an external storage, especially when you can't install most of the apps on there anyway? Genuine question.

      • +1

Emulation.. This phone is capable of emulating some very latest console hardware and yeah, it takes a lot of storage that way.

        • +1

I guess the workaround is to use OTG to USB-C adaptor with a large USB or SSD?

          • @aveeno bb: Don't think it will work unless you keep swapping it out with only active ones you wanna play.
Check out a channel on Youtube called "TechUtopia" and EggNS.. He rates the Blackshark to be pretty much the best phone for this purpose.

    • 256gb not enough?

      • Depends on what you load on there. Roms take up considerable space.. (later emulations can go up to 20GB per game).

        • How many game you gonna play at one go, just play 10 at a time lol

  • Will Jbhifi price match?

    • They dont price match eBay. But try their main website which is also showing the same price.
      That should do the trick.

    • Ring 'em ;)

    • showing same price on their Amazon store listing

    • JB HIFI cant do price match as it says online only, i called 3 shops no one can do it,
but i am thinking to buy from mobileciti.

  • with S20 5G going for $699 in the other deal ($300 off with old Samsung phone users), i struggle to see Xiaomi's high end phone value appeal in the lens of an ozbargainer.

    • +1

It does have its appeal though, especially if you looking for a gaming phone.

There is no other gaming phone with larger screen, physical shoulder trigger, etc.

    • I would not go back for Samsung UI, after experiencing Oxygen OS nice and clean. Samsung never can do it with bloatware

      • You think xiaomi os is better? The entire os is malware.

        • I'm talking about Oneplus not Xiaomi, nevertheless i have not touched a Samsung since S7

          • -1

@neonlight: And why are you comparing Samsung OS with OnePlus in a Xiaomi post responding to a question about Samsung vs Xiaomi?

    • -2

Samsung s20 fe 5g is way better.
      1. Opt in ads instead of forced random ads.
      2. Nfc
      3. Opt in ads instead of forced random ads.
      4. 120hz
      5. Opt in ads instead of forced random ads.

The xiaomi beats the samsung with its screen resolution and shoulder buttons… but miui/joyui kills it.

      • Well if you're taking that angle on it, just realize that in the past Samsung has displayed ads as notifications on their phones without anyone opting into it… makes 3/5 of your points irrelevant.

        • In the past vs current. Full screen ads vs notifications.
I never said Samsung are angels (prefer stock or even LG over Samsung), but when comparing Samsung vs Xiaomi, there's a clear winner.

Actually the Samsung prompt to turn on ads when charging is really annoying (they notify you to turn on this feature no one would want regularly when charging), but nowhere near as annoying or intrusive as the Xiaomi full screen ads (completely random, and in the middle of using the phone).

What about the lack of google services

    • +3

This is Aus version of the phone with fully functioning google services. This is no Huawei.

  • Why are people spending a premium on a phone without premium features?

    • +1

This is a premium gaming phone, with premium gaming features. Except may be 90hz screen.

  • +6

    No NFC
Then NFC of me buying it.

  • +1

I would kill at Candy Crush with this phone!

  • JB hifi beaten. This phone must be on the most unwanted list

  • wow this thing puts the Note8 size to shame…

Lol the price Went Up on This phone??
last time i check on kogan you can find one around $800
and that was like 2 months ago, this isnt really a bargain

    • this is the PRO version

  • +3

1k for a phone is just too much.

  • Was 1199, 999, 949 and what next…$599?

    • was 1199,999,951, and now 999

      • It'll be $599 in June 2021.

  • Heard that the cooler on this phone works more efficiently than the rog 3

  • Does this enable the CCP to snoop on you?

    • +2

I think you need to pay to unlock that feature

    • +1

      that's huawei

    • Thinking too much will sick you before CCP does. LOL

  • What kind of graphics would I expect out of this?

    • Lots of emoji's
