  • If I hypothetically decide to try and buy this, is it 8pm NSW (day light savings time) or…

    • +2

      9pm NSW time.

  • +1

Great price. I just paid RRP $309 and they've since gone UP a further $20 minimum at most places. I wonder if I have price protection. 🤔

Almost tempted to buy and sell to try and cut my losses.

    • +1

Can you test your kit with Thaiphoon Burner or CPUz and confirm if it is single or dual rank?

      • +1

I've got this kit already, but have purchased a second kit with PLE through their daily sale for $289 delivered. Thinking now I'll be cancelling that order and purchasing this one.

But the answer to your question is that according to CPU-Z it's Dual rank

      • I have this kit it’s dual rank

      • It only has a chance of being single rank if its CL18.

      • Can confirm as per the others, Dual rank reporting in cpu-z.

  • +1

Are these dual rank any one know?

    • +1

      What does dual rank mean?

      • +2

The memory layout of the ram per stick. Basically it has been proven that you get slightly better cpu performance with either 4 sticks of single rank or 2 sticks of dual rank.
I am building a ITX, only 2 ram slots, so looking for 2 sticks of dual rank.

        • Build was exactly the same from me. Came from 4x8gb Neos to these. Can't fault them. The post D.O.C.P no worries on my Strix X570-I

      • 16gb DIMMs have normally been dual rank. I am only aware of a recent batch of high end Crucial 16gb DIMMs which are single rank and it is a lot more expensive then this deal.

        • +1

Not necessarily expensive. Earlier this year I paid $225 for crucial ballistix 2x16GB 3600 CL16 and they were single rank.

        • +1

all my 10 kits of crucial ballistix were single rank

    • These should be dual rank Hynix CJR.

    • Yes they are dual rank. As far as I'm aware, only the Crucial Ballistix Max line are single rank 16gb sticks. Also because I don't think Hynix makes single rank dimm's with more than 8gb capacity.

  • 3600 c16 32GB vs 3800 C16 16GB (But with 1:1 IF at 1900) - which is better? or to similar? I never understood what difference the changes in IF make.

    • it is only the speed that matter you want higher frequency and lower latency so 3800c16>3600c16

ram capacity only helps you in memory tuning since it is easier to make a low capacity ram runs faster

there is also the dual rank and single rank benefit

you can check by running something like AIDA64

      • ARGH, typo the 3800Mhz is C18.

        • Honestly depends, I'd rather get these 3600 CL16 due to IF binning (even on Ryzen 5000, due to fresh beta bioses still having stability troubles it simply isn't worth it). Also with bad bins such as 3800 CL18, you're gonna have a bad time trying to adjust the timings if you cannot run 1900 on the IF.

          which is better?

          TL;DR 3600 CL16 > 3800 CL18.

Infinity fabric changes are considerably more noticeable in the 1% and 0.1% FPS lows rather than sheer AVG FPS.

I never understood what difference the changes in IF make.

The less latency the ram has, the faster the CPU can access/process files accordingly (It's more so significant going from 2133 mhz to say 3200 mhz), and unless you play at 720p with an RTX 3080 (lol), most chances you're rarely CPU bottlenecked enough to see a worthwhile improvement (YMMV though, as I've used Samsung B-die kits at 1440p and have 10-20 FPS differences in 0.1% and 1% FPS lows)

  • FWIW, I absolutely can not get these to work or POST at 3600 on my Gigabyte X570 board, even with fully manual timings and voltages - I've given it multiple tries over the last 14(?) months on various BIOS revisions. I can only get them to run at 3200.

    • What voltage you running?

      • Right now at 3200 it's on 1.35V - I've tried a range of different values at higher speeds, it doesn't like anything I've tried. I'm not trying to do anything fancy or push it to any extreme values - just get it to run how it should run out of the box. No luck.

    • Sounds like an issue with your board, I installed 64gb from the black friday sales and it's worked flawlessly at 3600 using XMP profile on a gigabte z490 board.

    • Gigabyte have been pushing BIOS updates multiple times a week since the release of ryzen 5000. I'm almost certain its a manufacturer issue, but then it could also be faulty RAM sticks.

      • Gigabyte blamed G.Skill, G.Skill blamed Gigabyte. Neither would offer any assistance beyond blaming the other.

        Next time I'll buy Corsair.

        • Corsair? Get crucial ballistix.

    • What CPU?

  • Good deal. I paid around $350 for 4x 8GB 3600 16-16-16-36. Pretty sure they're not worth the premium over this deal.

  • These kits are great, I bought 64gb during black friday for my new build and runs really well with XMP profile. Great price!

  • Can someone clue me in to what I am missing here? While checking motherboard Qvls I came across this on Amazon. I assume there must be something I’m missing since I doubt people would be hype over this deal if it’s $190 at Amazon.

    • It the exact same RAM, but you linked Amazon US.

      Items: USD 189.99
      Shipping & handling: USD 11.99
      Total before GST: USD 201.98
Estimated GST to be collected: USD 20.20

      Order total: USD 222.18
      Payment Total: AUD 303.48

      • comes out at 275 AUD .. aprox the same price?

edit: nm.. mine didnt include tax

  • so question is this worth the extra ~$80 on the corsair vengeance? https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/corsair-vengeance-rgb…
obviously higher frequency, but was planing this for a media server so not sure it will greatly matter. (although i may just swap them with my desktop ram soo…)

    • Do you need the RGB in the media server?

If not, there are cheaper similar specs non-RGB RAM options.

      • How is the difference on gaming for the extra 400mhz?
I'm not a fan of RGB

        • A few fps.

      • honestly who needs RGB at all, do you have any recommendations on better value options?

        • +1

Look into Crucial Ballistix (Usually from Amazon UK/US via AU) or G.Skill Ripjaws V

  • Showing $299 atm - when does it come on sale?

    • From 22 Dec 9:00pm

      • Thank you sir - it’s a good deal

  • Has anybody had luck with Commonwealth's price guarentee?

    Screenshots? Time of deal?!

    • Screenshots? Time of deal?!

Can be found on Shopping Express Boxing Day Sale 2020 Page starting 9pm - 22nd Dec.

      • I'm waiting for a call back, but I think I'll have to wait for the deal to go live to see the actual price on their product page.

Then I'll simulate checkout and screenshot that also. Fingers Crossed.

    • What is Commonwealth's price guarentee?

      • The guarantee will refund you the difference on products that are like for like that have gone cheaper within 21 days.

Like all of the other lenders guarantees. I think 28 degrees historically used to be the greatest as far as number of days between price change(s).

Commonwealth's guarantee is 21 days on select credit cards - I have the platinum package. I bought these for $319 from scorptec as they had stock and I needed them then and there, next cheapest was $309 with a wait. So, I should see a refund of $51.

        • ….and CBA can get F'd. Needs to be a $75 price difference or not more than $500. What's the bloody point!?!?

          Pretty annoyed about that.

  • how do these measure up against this:
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Crucial-Ballistix-Unbuffered-PC4-1…

im on the hunt for good 2x16gb 3600mhz RAM - dont care about rgb really

  • Would this be ideal for Ryzen 5800x or 5900x? Is 3600 MHz the new sweet spot?

    • Yes and yes

  • GOT IT,
    thanks!

  • Got mine. Woot

  • pulled the trigger - thanks op

  • Thanks, got one as well, now I need the rest of the PC. 🤣

  • Got one thanks OP!

Sidenote: There's 1% Paypal surcharge and the insurance cover is also free at checkout

    • Yep, to avoid the 1% Paypal/Credit Card Surcharge you can Bank Transfer.

    • Hm, I didn't get the insurance cover for free.

      • You select it in shipping option

        • I saw the option there, but it was not for free. Anyway, I made the order already, so I cannot change it.

          • @Mistredo: It changes to free once you go checkout page. The BoxingDay code cancels out all shipping option fees

            • @Hellcrusher3304: Ah, I had a different code on my order that applied only to shipping. Strange. Anyway, hopefully, I will be fine without the insurance.

  • BOOM 💥
    Got mine - thanks

  • I don't need it, I don't need it, I DEFINITELY don't need it….

  • I need to buy some, but don't have a CPU, M/B or GPU to go with it.

Normally I buy them all together, but they're so hard to get, you might have to get each piece as it becomes available. But there's no telling when a GPU and CPU will be available so I could be holding onto this RAM for months.

    What should I do?

    • You've got to start somewhere. I thought the same a month ago when I started PC shopping, and now I only need a GPU and PSU then I'm done hunting.

      • I ended up getting it.

The RAM will likely sit around for months, won't even know if it's DOA or not.

    • Same boat, I've got a pc with a vega 56, 4670k cpu and an old mobo. I get artifacts and the occasional blue screen so I really need to upgrade. Bought a Kraken x63 cooler from a recent ozbargain deal but I'm still waiting for a good gpu and cpu deal… Hmm decisions decisons. Can I fit all this into an itx build or am I better off with atx? Is x2 16gb ram good if I have more than 2 ram slots?

      • You're covered either way. 2x16 at these frequencies and timings will be fine. Perfect if you choose to go itx. Itx only has 2 dimm slots too so keep it in mind if you think it's something you'll move to at any stage.

    • Lifetime warranty. She'll be right. 👌

      • lifetime warranty, but after some time the retailer may make you deal with the manufacturer yourself, ship back at own expense, and you could end up with a refurb. Somehow, I don't think they will be manufacturing these a "lifetime" from now.

        • ……..

  • I got a perpetually spinning circle after I clicked Confirm and gave them my credit card. Great.

If I press the Cancel button, they probably cancel my order but already took my money. If I don't, it spins forever. :(

  • +1

Great set of RAM. Ordered mine through Harris Technology two weeks ago via Kogan when Kogan had the $15 cashback deal. Also bought 3 x $100 kogan giftcard and got $90 cashback via CBA $30 cashback for $100 spend (Had to use partner and brothers CBA as well, since cashback was one per acccount). Ended up being $212.50 in the end.

    • Complicated but worth it

      • Depends how much you get paid per hour. Time is the the real asset. But I admire @Bearboi for his ingenuity and saving.

  • It seems it is back in stock.

    • Yep, I just ordered.

      • Same =)

        • It's a nice kit. Enjoy! :)

  • FYI my set is hynix not samsung b die

Needed to input timings manually to get it to run at 3200 on my x370 with 2700x. Xmp didn't work. 2700x memory controller doesn't like ram faster than 3200

    • I'm pretty sure all F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC are Hynix.

You'll need the F4-3600C16D-32GTZN (without the 'C') if you want Samsung B-Die Kit (which usually cost $100+ more).
