We can now confirm that JB Hi-Fi will be taking PS5 pre-orders in store starting today with stock set to arrive on or after January 21st.

As of today, stores have received their allocations for the next shipment meaning that they can now take pre-orders for the drop happening next week. You’re best to call your local JB Hi-Fi before heading in just in case they have already pre-sold out.

    Called my local JB (NSW) when i asked to be transferred over to games he asked if it was about the PS5. When I said yup he said theyre not taking any preorders and will be first in first serve in store but he didnt know when the store would be receiving it. Sometime Jan apparently

    Got a firm number of '24' units at one of my locals.
    I really really hate that I'm stuck at work right now and can't get there to secure my pre-order. Argh.

    Some JB's have a sheet of people on a waiting list who will be notified first if stock becomes available. I don't think this is across all stores but I know from experience that a number of stores are doing this… so potentially those people will get first dibs. And if you miss out best to get on these lists!
    Especially considering if you find one elsewhere and they call you, you can say its not needed any more. Best to have your fingers in as many pies as you can…

      I feel like the console manufacturers don't mind the shortage as it adds an exclusiveness to the product and activates the FOMO physiological response.

      In the modern age companies are fully aware of and exploit our primal responses. Wasn't remotely interested in either initially but found myself checking them out.

    I went into the WA, Osborne Park store. They took my pre-order with a $50 deposit. They had a "private and confidential" A4 print on the till about how to take the pre-order (ie. the SKU for the digital edition vs the disk edition (but that was all I could catch)). I was one of their first orders with two other people next to me so they figured out on the fly how to do it with all three of us. The only thing of note is she said "because of COVID we can't guarantee the date".

    Got a $50 preorder at dfo south wharf, stock estimated between 21st-30th. Person at the counter mentioned they had very little stock allocated to them and were close to running out. Pickup has to be in-store by the person that made the pre-order.

    Got my preorder in at Watergardens Melb. Only have a certain allocation, take your receipt and will call when in. $50 deposit which I'm sure if they take too long will be refunded.

    No guarantees can be 2 weeks or 2 months as they say

      I called campbelltown also and they knew about it though didnt know numbers so were taking names and numbers down for a list until they knew the numbers. I ended up getting one at Jamieson instore deposit, I was second last to secure a pre-order.

    Can confirm pre order is available. I called two stores in Chatswood just after 2pm. Westfield said it’ll start in a few days. Called Chatswood chase right after and the guy knew nothing about it but after checking said they did indeed have a shipment planned.

    After hanging up, I drove straight to the store and dropped $50 for the deposit. ETA is 21st but the guy said that is just an estimate and they will call/sms when it’s ready.

    Good luck everybody. By the sounds of things, they’re going quick. There were 2 other guys there already before me.

    For all the people saying its "Fake" and being told by JB Staff its not true.

    I just went into JB and asked to pre-order at the front desk. I was looked at strange and told he didn't think any pre-order were being taken. Another staff member next to him at the time said, actually… we are taking pre-orders as of an hour or so ago. So this is obviously recent.

    So to the people calling up, its more likely that the staff member you spoke with were unaware that pre-orders have only just opened up. Worth trying again or going in store.

    Just visited Osborne Park (WA) and pre ordered. Full payment required. Many WA stores have been allocated stock but not instructed to take orders yet or have priority lists already. 12 left at Osborn Park at time of writing.

    Called up and was told to come in store. Drove over to Altona Home JB - managed to grab one of 40 pre-orders! The manager said that their store had one of the biggest allocations. Paid in full, awaiting pick up of PS5 "as early as" 21 January.

    Edit: Called up store at 2:15ish. Arrived in store at 2:40ish. Order placed at 2:45pm.
