I received this offer by email & decided not to post - as people don't seem to like Vodafail!
    And it is through Groupon.

For Prepaid, you need to have a non-vodafone sim & number you want to port to Vodafone. (Maybe $2 Optus SIM etc, or active old one)
If you buy today, you get the (30day only, 0.5GB) $30 cap & Sim for a $2 Groupon voucher.

Couldn't see it as that worthwhile as there are other offers like
Woolies (45 days, 5GB) & can buy lots of recharges for next year for $12.60ea http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/56674 &
    Amaysim (30days only, 4GB) for $10 http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/59832.

Good for one very cheap month of calls though!

      LOL Why all the negs?
I said others don't like VF - I do - have been with them for years with no problems.

But there is a lot of criticism of VF reception & group offers on OzBargain.

Plus having to port your number seems a big hassle for some like me, just to pick up this offer. I recently ported 2 of my 4 Vodafone numbers to Optus & received $100 giftcards each!

The other 2 deals do not require porting, seem easier to set up - you do not have to deal with both a group buying site & a telco, & the SIM may arrive quicker (immediate with Woolies), they cost a little more (but this deal may mean buying a cheap SIM & there is the 1300 call) but include lots of calls & a lot more data.
Still a month of very cheap calls will keep the OzBargainers happy!

      • How do you get $100 giftcard once port to Optus?

    • +1

Yeah, like you I was tempted to post. However as I'm already with VF for my bar phone, I can't port, and my smartphone is already on the Woolies offer. VF suffers marginal signal strength in areas and they keep turning on call divert against my wish. So I just want to finish my prepaid credit (they won't let me transfer that credit to any plan with data, different SIM they said) then move for another provider.

As you say, should be good for somebody with a dormant SIM for a month of cheap access.

    • When you say buy lots of recharges for next year for $12.60, are you saying to stock up on recharges now with deal on?

      • Go to the link brucefromaustralia provided to see how it's done.

      • Thats how its done!
Eg buy 8 recharges ($100) to cover next year & get 40GB data, etc.
Offer expires 31/12. Voucher I bought 2 days ago expires 1/11/12, so you won't get a full year, but may be on special again by then.

        • Nice, I might consider doing that. Currently with telstra, i took advantage of the $2 switch to us deal, and they had a fault at their end and gave me 2 months of credit, so Ive lasted 2 months with that $2 deal, winning there. Bought a woolies sim the other day, thinking i would use it for the 45 days, then go back to telstra using the current deal at woolies atm ($30 starter for $10). But maybe i'll stick with woolies for the cheap credit. Thanks for the tip.

  • Was eyeing the SGS2 on 29x24 before. Wd prefer 12 months contract as existing 12 months HTC Legend contract expires t'row. Sounds messy if I want to keep my number though…

I wouldn't trust my main number with them but for $2 it's great for getting another month of life out of my new amaysim numbers once the $10 unlimited runs out.

    • +1

But bear in mind that you have to do the port before 31/12/2011 (as with the other offer) and by calling a 1300 number.

      • +1

I think you have to redeem the voucher by 31/12/2011 and then allow 7 business days for the SIM to be delivered but there is no mention of any expiry date for activating the SIM.

        • +1

The voucher actually states it is Valid from 17.12.2011 to 17.01.2012

        • Ok, but if I read correctly, you would still have to tell Vodafone sales the number you want to port. So you couldn't redeem the voucher for some future number you intend to get before activating the SIM.

  • TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Prepaid offer – Port your number with a $2 pre-paid sim online and receive first $30 recharge credit on us.

It looks i need to go buy a $1.5 telstra Prepaid sim first then port the numer to vodafone by phone call, after that can receive the $30 once new sim activated?

  • +1

How funny is this there main number (1300 138 693) on the deal even doesn't work.

    • +1

Poor Vodafone, it can't get anything right. It should just shut up shop in Australia.

  • There is currently an issue with the 1300 number stated above

    Please use 1300 300 404

    • where is the phone i bought from you guys like 3 weeks ago now? not even an email to follow up my order (did get confirmation but nothing else!)

      • Send through your order number and I'll have someone check it for you

  • Is Crazy Johns SIM considered as non Vodafone service number?

    • I looked at my unused CJ starter pack, and it says Powered by Vodafone. I suspect it is considered VF, but let us know if it works for you.

  • Looks like it's not expired because they extended the deal for another 4 days counting from midnight.

  • Hahaha, they've extended it further, till midnight 24th. I guess there weren't enough takers.

  • So I have printed out the 'electronic voucher' that supposedly was to be followed by a "Prepaid Recharge Sim" in envelope. Sim has not arrived 1.5 weeks later.

WILL an unused/recently activated Telstra sim be suitable, or a quarantined >6 months unused/dormant sim be better accepted?

Why has the card not already arrived via post ???

    • Did you call 1300 138 693 to redeem the voucher?

  • Got the sim card but not the credit, cannot use the voucher, groupon just returned $2 , bloody Vodaf$#% is useless piece of S@!@#$#

  • sick of both groupon and vodafail passing the blame.ive made 3 calls both saying the other party needs to send me a sim first. who is meant to send you the sim? my voucher expires tomorrow 31 dec . will i still get $30 credit after i receve the sim if i get one of them to post me a sim? can anyone confirm the exact whole procedure for the $2 sim?

    • i finally got it all sorted out by being transferred to the correct 1300 number listed. is there a deadline to activate the sim to get the $30 credit? can exisiting vf customers qualify for the bonus $30?

    • Agh! I hate that - that's why I warned about it up the top of this deal, suggesting alternatives: "you do not have to deal with both a group buying site & a telco". Glad it was resolved.

I bought wine through Groupon, upgraded with an offer from the wine merchant, but the wine never arrived. After many emails & weeks, the wine company will refund what I paid them, now have to hassle through with Groupon as well!!

  • I redeemed the Groupon voucher by calling 1300 300 404 on 23/12/2011 and received the letter with sim card on 27/12/2011. Then I followed the instructions in the letter, I got $30 credit without any problems.

  • Hmm that's what I should have done from the outset. I guess I didn't spot something or wish to jump through those many hoops. Now I've written to their late night correspondence team, so see what comes of it.

  • You first have to ring sales and they send you a sim card by Aust Air Express (not sure why when it's not activated). Then you have to activate it. Then after it's activated ring 1555 and give voucher details and they apply the $450 credit. You don't have to port a number if you don't mind getting a random new number.

  • Just activated and got $450 credit. Fantastic deal for $2…just spent $16 for a month of mobile tv and $9 for a season pass to live cricket tv.
