  • Telecommuncation company have little hassles to allocate data allowances and plans across their network for certain lenght of time. depends on how many sign up this price yesterday, they might just offer it at the end as it don't bite that much of their bottomline as a store with physical goods

    Or the fact people that signed up are now Catch customers can now get targeted for marketing material and might buy other merchandise they would have no otherwise bought had they not purchased this.

      It has been charged to my credit card but the status on the Catch account says "Your order's fulfillment is currently pending". So until it has shipped, I would not hold my breath …

    I opted for express shipping but still no info on shipping. Talk to their customer Rep, they are saying they are escalating. Let see.

  • I like the non price error $89 for 60GB using Uni/Studentbeans 10% off with the current 15% off gift cards = $68.
    But they wont let me order more than 1 at a time .

  • My current 365 days plan finishes on the 3rd feb (with Boost), do i need to port my current number out first in order to keep the number alive? As I am very certain I wont get the new sim on the 3rd feb even if they shipped it out today.

    • Depends who your current plan is with. If carrier is Optus, then yes. Move to a Telstra or Vodafone carrier and then back.

      Boost is Telstra so you would need to extend or port to another SIM but just not anythin Optus based.

          Correct and that's assuming you plan on porting into this SIM when (if) it arrives. Catch Connect are Optus. If you don't plan on extending with Boost (which is Telstra) and want to keep your number, you are best off porting to Vodafone for now (easiest option). Then port across from it to here.
          Reason: As you are already with Telstra, it's a pain trying to port to another Telstra based plan and to keep your number (although can be done). In turn just leaves Vodafone. I hope that makes sense!

      • Wanted to get some closure on this so online chatted them. Was informed explicitly that eligibility for the promotion is still valid even if porting from the same network provider. The only condition is that you are currently a non-CatchConnect customer. So porting from amaysim (Optus network) to CatchConnect for instance would qualify for this deal

      • You don't need to port out of Optus to another carrier first. It still works, but takes a few extra days, but porting out and then back in again also takes a few extra days.

        Tldr, can port directly from Optus carrier to Catch.

      they will have grey period and your sim only can receive sms, for kogan it's about 60 days. you might need to chat with them and ask about how long you can keep your sim withou plan

      You will not be able to make calls but as long as that doesnt bother you, just port after it arrives. I have done that plenty of times.

      The one small annoyance, some companies ask you to reply to a SMS to confim you have that number before porting. You will not be able to reply. You have to call them to give them the code they sent. Only takes a few min but still, not ideal.

        I actually had this problem the other day when porting from Amaysim to Kogan however the reply SMS worked even though I had no credit on PAYG. So maybe the mobile carriers allow for the reply SMS to work as this would be cheaper for them than ringing customer service?

          I have had it fail to send though so it must just be some carriers.

          Good to know though, i'll give it a go if i get stuck in that position.

      I like the way catch has managed this. Honouring ONE sim is extremely fair (especially considering all the '1 per customer' notices there were).

      • Yeah I agree the one sim is very fair approach, however I don't like the generic email wording (when I didn't make extra purchases): "Refunds for YOUR extra purchases are currently underway and will appear back on your card shortly.".

        Since generic email they should update to: "Refunds for ANY extra purchases are currently underway and IF APPLICABLE will appear back on card shortly."

  • Ah good stuff. $30 for the 120GB data (as a backup if needed). Don't need it for calls as already with Boost which have Int'l calls included which I need. They will perhaps gain $30 profit from me as may not even use it if no downtime over 365days.
