    • Pre built too. Although getting it to you house after a sale might be an issue.

      • +1

Yep. Even more of an incentive to reduce the price as you may need alternative transport for pick-up

  • +3

Fantastic way to pretend like you're gaining muscle by doing entirely meme exercises rather than spending a little more to get a power rack which you'll actually get strong and look good in

    • +1

To be fair… Not everyone wants a rack in their garage…and if they actually want to squat why not just get the free standing squat rack?

      • Cos they're unstable af and you'll embarrass yourself by cheaping out on equipment and end up not using it

  • fairly sure in that top right picture he is watching po@n while working out.. he has that focused po@n watching face/gaze..

    • Can I ask how you know what focused po@n watching face looks like?

      • why, so you can think about my reply and replicate the face? i think not..

  • Dammit gone already

    • I just ordered one

      • Wont work to my post code 3104 or 3081

Free shipping on a product of this size is impressive WOW

  • +7

These machines are useless. Watch hundreds of them appear on gumtree in a couple of months.

Do yourself a favour and by a squat rack with barbell and a couple of bumper plates and learn how to lift correctly.

What can you do on this?

    Chest Press / flys
    Lat pulldown
Cable row sitting on the floor
    Biceps and triceps

At 45kg it's basically good for losing fat, maybe getting some slight definition in your chest and arms ( barely ), you won't put much muscle on.

I'd take squats and deadlifts over this any day.

    • yes agree 100% this should be the most important comment.

  • OP this is very impressive, thank you.

  • +4

Not bagging this deal but bodyweight based exercises are probably better for a full body workout that translates into benefits for proper day to day activity. Cabled weights don't really train the stabilizer muscles because the machine does most of that that work for you.

  • power rack setup would provide more value in the long-term if serious about lifting :)

  • +4

It's from Kogan, you can be sure about the quality @op.

  • FWIW I purchased the Fortis branded pull-up and bench station and it is embarrassingly flimsy. There is no way you could actually use it to bench press any weight. Even doing pull ups on it is very sketchy… so given this is so discounted I'd imagine could be similar quality.

This is the item referring to: https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/fortis-home-gym-multifunction-p…

Quality home gym for 300? LOLOL!

plenty of second hand name brand ones that have been used once….

  • Good investment if you have a long term injury!

    • +1

if u want a LT injury u mean

  • Lot of misinformation here regarding the weights.

The use of pulleys allows the required force to be multiplied - in this case the I’m guessing the biggest multiplier would be x3 = 135kg

Looks to be three main cable paths - overhead / chest / legs.
Would not expect all of them to be triple force - most likely some combination of 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3 across the three points.

    • my understanding is that the the more pulleys used, the less effort or force is required from you to lift the weight.

so how are you getting a force multiplier if, essentially, pulleys where designed to make things easier to lift. explain if im missing something here.

      • +2

Pulleys can give a mechanical advantage OR mechanical disadvantage, depending on which point you are lifting from.

Remember early physics lessons - Equal and opposite reactions, right?
It just depends how you rig it up.

        • +2

Nope :) now I'm interested in knowing which pulleys in this system are increasing the force needed or decreasing it. I would imagine that they designed this system to balance itself out so that the weight is close to 1:1.

          • @SardineHead: Yeah it doesn't make any sense. I looked up other machines and found none that increased resistance, only decreased. If the ratio isn't 1:1 then wouldn't you expect them to list the effective weight or ratios? Also if the resistance is multiplied it would mean the speed of the weight stack slamming into the ground would be multiplied too.

            • @BROKENKEYBOARD: Here’s an example then for you and everyone else:

              https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/a3/a36…

Go to Page 23 of the above manual for the chart.

On the other pages you can see how the cables and pulleys are routed… If this Kogan one has a manual then you could check for a similar design.

It’s very common for cable-pulley machines to NOT have a 1:1 ratio at every station.

              • +2

@desty: It all comes down to motion ratio — the ratio between how far a component is moved where the force is applied to how far the load (weight stack) moves. This includes force doubling from the two lines of a parallel pulley as well as the leverage effects of pivoting rigid members (fulcrums and moment arms). There are no free lunches in physics of course and energy must be conserved. The product of applied force and parallel displacement gives the work performed (work is energy). So a load doubling at a particular handle will move the weight stack twice as far which halves the total range of motion permitted.

Given that we can view the range of motion of the weight stack, we can rule out any large motion ratios at the handles. Further, from what I can see, the pull down and low bars appear to have a 1 to 1 motion ratio.

Pulleys are used on exercise machines mainly to guide and change the direction of cables. They're also used to transfer lengths between anchored ends of height adjustable cable machines. The most common use of pulleys to change the motion ratio is in cable crossover machines where the load at the handle end is halved to yield a doubled range of motion to facilitate the handles being used much further from the machine.

    • Yeah nah

  • I'm not an expert in fitness.
Isn't bodyweight exercises are enough at home? You don't have the storage problem either.
There are many public parks with exercise setups as well.

    • +1

You can do more/better exercises with a pair of adjustable dumbbells ( or cheap dumbbell set with the spinlock threads and metal plates ) and also the exercises will be better.

  • +1

Kogan is the king of selling cheap Chinese crap

  • Anyone who know the stuff can comment on this (i know they are designed for different purposes with very different prices):
    https://decathlon.com.au/products/weight-training-rack-chin-…

Question is if the decathlon one is good for the money? it seems very solid quality.

    • +1

Checkout the ATX range of power racks / squat racks. Reputable brand at comparable price. Think Sam's Fitness sell them in Aus.

Also the MyRack system is better known and has alot more attachments if youre looking for lat pulldown / cable crossover etc

  • I don't want to build muscles, only want to lose weight. Will this be enough? Is there a way to add more weight to it later on?

    • it would be a very inefficient way to lose weight vs a barbell and proper lifts.

    • Building muscle is the best, most efficient in terms of time, and most sustainable way to lose fat. They shouldn't be considered mutually exclusive. You won't be able to add more weight to the machine.

    • Get a gym membership use the treadmill / stationary bike and lift low weight with high reps and body weight exercises. Watch what you eat and you will lose weight

  • Got 1, thanks OP

  • Going to train my nuts using 45 kgs

    • weighted dips

Be careful. Yours might burst with 5-10 kgs pull …

Also doubles as a clothes rack when you lose motivation and stop using it

    • Aliens would think so

  • Anyone doesn't i am happy to buy. BRISBANE

    • Hey mate, I assume you don't want to buy one anymore?

  • I'll buy this gym station for half price in three months time off Facebook marketplace. Thanks OP.

    • Well good luck with that. Before buying, I searched FB marketplace and saw someone sells this for $600

    • +2

It would still be equally useless.

  • +1

Looked like a good deal to me until I read comments from people who actually know this stuff. Doesn't look like this setup would do much for me. Grateful for the expertise being contributed here.

  • I remember when I lifted my first weight.

  • I tried canceling my order after 4 minutes, no success. Customer service is horrible. I have sent them 4 requests to cancel. Still they didn't cancel my order. Received email that it has been shipped.

    • Where are you based? I'd buy it from you ☺️

      • 3977

  • Why am I only seeing cloth hangers. :)

    • Because the rest of us see it as a clothes hanger

  • $158.99 shipping… that's a deal breaker

    • +1

You missed the free shipping deal. Hence this is marked as Expired

  • Still in stock but the promo code box seems to have disappeared! Has this happened to anyone else?

    • Yes it's still in stock but the free shipping on Kogan has ended. Hence this deal was marked as Expired

Same item for sale at the same price with free shipping at Dick Smith. Code "FREEBIE"

    • Nice find

I suspect I won't be the only person to have this issue… I've received emails that state that Box 1 and 2 of 3 were sent. Box 2 just arrived but the other two boxes are MIA. My order status has also now updated to "Delivered" despite only receiving part of my order 🤦

Kogan and Allied Couriers are a match made in hell

    • I had the same experience however all 3 boxes did arrive.

  • Received only 1 box and allied/kogan have marked the whole shipment as delivered. Allied have said the others may not arrive for over a week. Piss poor for what would usually be a $205 freight service.

    • Did you get all 3 items? I'm still waiting for my remaining 2 items since last week. I called the Allied Express helpdesk and they don't know where my remaining 2 items are. Disapointed in their service.

      • Still waiting, Atrocious service from Allied, 2 weeks now. Called and they just shrug it off as 'it will be there when it's there'. Had a text this morning to say it was onboard for delivery and still nothing. Another wasted day waiting at home.

        • That's strange. All 3 packages arrived on the same day for me. Delivered in 4 business days (not sure if Kogan First membership made any difference)

          • @Scythic: Were they one big long box and two small heavier boxes (probably weights)? I have not gotten around to open my package hence asking if I should bother opening it.

            • @BeefBiryani: Yes. One big long box contains all the parts for the machine. Two small heavy boxes are the weight plates.

Assembling can be challenging if you do it by yourself so it's best to have someone help you.
The end result is not bad

        • Update, have now received 2 out of 3 boxes. Lol

  • So.. tried to put it together, and halfway through realised its missing bolts and washers.

The instruction manual says there are meant to be 18 B10 bolts and B14 washers, but the screw pack only lists 16 of each.

Really poorly designed, and if I wasn't almost done with putting together, would definitely return it.

    • My screw pack is the same. Haven't attempted to put it together now based on this feedback. Not sure I want to get to the end with bolts missing.

      • Did you manage to get the complete screw set?

        • +1

I had 2 random screws left over which didn't match any documentation. They seemed to work fine in place of the missing ones

  • +1

1st it was nightmare to get this via courier took 2 weeks for 3 box separately delivered.
Attempt assembly failed the weights do no go all the way down stuck half way any tricks please

    • +1

Make sure the weights are all the same orientation

      • +1

Well none of went down all the way. They said i have received wrong weights. Next shipment is in May

  • Mine same, weight does not goes all the way down and been told the next shipment is may……

    • They want you to wait until then?

      • yes
They said will ship to me around may….
it was a bad decision to purchase those
