  • just received another email offer for this payall. same exp date October 2022

  • Has anyone who had a low credit limit increased their limit to increase their earn rate? From memory I think the AF is $175 if you spend/payall more than 48k p.a.
Unfortunately, I was an idiot who went with a Qantas Premier card rather than the Citi rewards/krisflyer redeeming card.

  • As some of banks are now offering over 4% loans, I think this PayAll will still save money even if you continue with 2%.

    • 4% is per annum. 2% is for you to repay when statement is due (max 6 weeks?!)

  • got email about citi ready credit offer,
2.9% pa interest for 3 years on the initial balance transferred, plus 100k flybuys bonus points (worth $50 at coles) when request a balance transfer of $500 or more.

will that interfere with our citipay all scheme? it says flybuys point will be allocated within 8 weeks.
so after that just pay off ?

    • It does have a $199 set up fee too

      • oh missed damn haha ok then ignore me.. not worthed

        • Went through the exact same emotions 😀

  • Trying to set up a new payment for Oct and I keep getting the following error, no matter what I do…

"Payment Unsuccessful. You have reached the maximum monthly limit allowed for the selected category."

    Credit limit is $15000
I already have $7500 setup as a payment on 5th October.
Trying another $7500 for 6th October or any other date in October, e.g. 31st and keep getting the same error.
Tried all the categories - same error.
Tried a new PayAll Payee (bank account) - same error.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    • Try 6500

      • Thanks I tried $100 and it still fails so fun might be over

Probably my fault for not setting up recurring payments

        • Tried different bank account too. Their system is really buggy, I remember I need to do a lot of trial & error before I got mine set

    • Remember to wait 24hrs from being rejected until you try again. If not, it will be an auto rejection.

  • for example you are transferring every month to anz, anyone received phone call from that anz asking if you have a new "source of income" ?

    • Got it from St George bank

I am sure if you are doing 35k each month, the monitoring system will definitely flag you..

      • +2

I've been doing 70K/month across two cards in completely circular transfers going out/in-in/out for the last two years approx. Bagged over 1mil points so far. No questions from anyone about anything. Mind you, it's completely automated, I never contact Citibank about it, never ask any questions and never put the card at risk of needing to be cancelled. Keep your head well down and fly under the radar.

        • So how often do you use the card for a purchase? Once every 3 months? I got a letter when I hadn't use my card in about 3 months (other than for payall).

          • @tunzafun001: All the time. My credit limit is > 35K. The PayAll payments don't ever max it out.

        • You have 2 different cards under your name?

        • Also, if we apply for the 2nd card, can we still get their current offering (that spend XX get YY points thing)? Or that would be for new customer only (can’t figure it out reading their fine print)

    • Nope, no calls.. yet

    • I got a call from one of my receiving banks asking to verify details about these transactions, source of income etc. I have split my payall transactions to go to 2 different bank accounts but still got flagged at one of the banks. I also gave them a heads-up that these transactions will continue for another year or so. My payall are setup until 2027, I think.

And last year even Citi had called me to inquire about recurring Payall transactions.

      • I thought you could only do until 2025?

        • Dido…teach me sensei!

        • Setup from 2025 and will end in 2027.

      • If they consider it as income could you get a large loan against it.

      • What did you tell the receiving bank these were for?

And what did you tell Citibank?

        • +1

I told receiving bank that it’s to earn points. In and out. Lol. They took notes and said ok.

  • @Legoman - How did you manage to fully utilise 35k on both cards?

I signed up for an identical Citi Premier Card thinking that I'd be able to transact 35k on card a and card b. It turns out that only 35k can be transacted across all collective accounts for Payall regardless of the amount of cards you hold.

I'm guessing you had set this up prior to the new rules being enforced?

    • +4

You guess right. I sat down with a slide rule and an abacus and worked out what was required to game this to the max long before the 31 Oct 2021 change of rules and pre-set the payments chiselled on granite tablets for the next 8 years or so. The payoff for the effort has just been realised with an auto-upgrade to business class on Emirates using 97,500 Citi points gained from this exact scheme.

    • So with the new rules, it's no use to get more than 1 card, as it's capped at 35k anyway (I only have 1 card, but already max-ed at 35k/month)?

  • +1

‘Annual fee$175 annual fee first year and each subsequent year when you spend $48,000 on eligible purchases and cash advances in the previous year, otherwise $350.’

    1) Do Citi PayAll transactions count towards eligible purchases so you can get the annual fee reduction?

    2) Any way to find out how much you have spent to date?

    • Hi mate, is this confirmed? I'm looking at the Citi Prestige Credit Card and was wondering if I can use PayAll to my own bank account to meet the $7500 spend immediately. Thanks.

Just got an email, they extend the free period to 31 October 2023, but seems they reduce the monthly cap again:
"A cardholder can make up to $20,000 (subject to available credit) in Citi PayAll transactions each calendar month across all Citi branded credit cards"

    • +1

They've also added the below effectively killing future PayAll 0% after 31/10/2023:
Any recurring Citi PayAll payments set up prior or after the Period will be charged the standard Citi PayAll fee of 2% of the amount of the Citi PayAll payment. This fee will apply to all recurring payments made for the duration in which those payments are scheduled to occur.

      • Sad, just noticed that :(

        • Nope, it has always been like that. You should have read it carefully. You have misinterpreted it.

      • This one is ok - meaning just payments setup before 31/10/23 will have 0%

        • Any recurring Citi PayAll payments set up prior or after the Period
-includes payments set up prior as well. so the party will end soon

    • Most of us are doing 35k/month. Will be interesting to see what happens come Nov. will they cancel transactions exceeding 20k?

      • Will know in November I guess.

hoping it gets grandfathered like the credit card limit :)

  • Would be new $20k limit be applied to bills set up prior to the change or the old $35k would apply?

    • That’s a good question. I wonder if it’s worth risking setting up for above a 20K recurring now in the hope that it is not cancelled when the new rules come in.

    • When they changed the limit from 35K down to your credit limit it had no effect on existing pre-setup arrangements, so there's no reason to believe this change will either. I still have a credit card with a limit of 20K successfully PayAlling 35K/month because that was the limit that existed when those payments were setup. Those payments did not get cancelled or lowered down to 20K when they changed the rules the last time.

  • Hi All,

I read the email as being that all new Citi PayAll Transaction Limits, apply to each CARDHOLDER.

If I was to apply for a secondary card on my account (with a $50k limit), could I run $20k in Payall for each card?

    Thanks in advance.

    • Not likely. A cardholder can make up to $20,000 (subject to available credit) in Citi PayAll transactions each calendar month across all Citi branded credit cards.

      • Agree. Sub card doesnt have credit limit they basically just a copy primary card, so everthing is considered as one.

Do want to pay annual fee for each of sub card? Hehe

    • Good luck getting any credit card these days with a 50K limit

  • Wanted to cancel the Citi Rewards card until I saw this offer in my email. Had to suck it up and pay $199 annual fee - they’re not willing to waive it this time

  • I'm surprised they extended it.

    • Citibank's departing present to NAB !

  • Got an email and SMS about a fraudulent transaction on my Citi card over night. Card has now been cancelled and a new one is on the way. Will be interesting to see if my PayAll transactions continue or were linked to the cancelled card number.

I can't see the PayAll option in Internet banking anymore as the credit card has disappeared. Fortunately one of my three PayAll transactions was processed last night.

    • Have you used your card for purchases at all?

      • +1

The only places it has been used in the last year or so has been to buy gift cards online through Cashrewards, Shopback and Gift Card Exchange. The transaction was for USD5 in Norway, I doubt it was skimmed, more likely someone with a card number generator.

    • Damn. Thats why someone here suggested to keep the card at home never use it again, this payall is too precious. Maybe i should do the same and start using my 28degree card instead for small random purchases. It doesnt give me points and ha slow limit but should be enough for groceries etc

      • +1

If you dont use the card, they will cancel it as well (Ive got a free for life card). I got a warning letter a few months back.

So need to spend something (other than payall) to keep it open. Im doing $15k payall per month, and got the warning letter.

Paid a few dollars off rates, bought a few things at Aldi.

Good reminder. I need to do it again.

    • I just received an email about my next PayAll transaction and noticed that the four digits are different to the card that was cancelled due to fraud, so it looks like my next PayAll transaction will go ahead without me needing to do anything as it appears the transactions have been moved to the new card which I'm waiting to arrive in the post.

    • Just saw a random charge in USD from coursehero on my citi card on the 19th too now. Fun times, have never taken this card out of the house since I got it, paid for PHI online once and that was it.

      • So they have cancelled my card and 1 of 2 PayAlls and have removed my entire points balance as well…. fun times ahead

        • Wtf? How did your rewards points balance get wiped? Surely its not directly linked to the physical card?

        • Did you get the points back?

    • +1

IIWY I'd be contacting Citibank and asking if the PayAll payments I have setup will transfer across seemlessly to the new card and if not then how can I make that happen? My card is expiring in Dec just because that's its expiry date and I did exactly this. They confirmed for me the PayAll payments will be transferred across automatically to my new Mastercard when it arrives.

  • Does the new rule means I can do multiple Payall up to 20k limit or is it still only up to credit card limit per month whichever is lower?

  • If you have 15k credit limit
    With payall, you get 7.5k pts X 12 =90k pts in a year + $195 fee

    Or
Cancel it, use the credit limit to apply 3-4 black credit cards (~90k pts, ~$200-300 fee) in a year and get
270k pts with $600-900 fee + paperwork + speeding money

    Which one is better? :)

    • I have the same dilemma and going with option 2… and I don't think there will be $200-$300 fee (for example St George currently has $0 annual fee card, just need to look out for the deals).

  • ING just suspended my account without any notice. This is my primary bank account. I suspect it has to do with the PayAll transactions. Tried to call this afternoon and they said the team that looks after this has gone home for the day.

    • they didnt call you to ask ?
and roughly (dont say the exact amount )- how much is your total transfer in a month?

      • No call at all, or notification. Account was simply locked.

I would say as long as you don’t send more than 15k per month you should be fine. This month I sent an extra 10k and that must have flagged something on their end and they are a nightmare to deal with. They locked my account without any notice or warning, frontline staff say they can’t help you, have to talk to ‘fraud’ department, was told everyone in that team had gone home for the day (3.45pm on a weekday), you can only communicate with them via email, they take a few days to respond to emails then ask for more info, etc. Account was locked for more than 40 days.

    • What the??

Why do you think it's linked to the PayAll transactions?

      • They requested information on the source of the funds. Even after providing bank statements they said they had to verify these with the other bank.

I’m guessing it’s due to anti money laundering. ING (and other banks) have been in the news lately about that.

    • lol our next druglord wannabe got busted

    • Mine was closed also a few months ago.

They were very specific on which 2 accounts would be closing ie the account numbers
Before I lost access I could open 2 new ing accounts.
Then they closed the old ones, but I still merrily use the two new ones.

    • They closed mine after I stopped using them once the 50c cashout bonus ended.

    • +1

ING are absolute pricks at doing this sort of thing. NAB are almost as bad. They will just lock up your account for no apparent reason, won't advise you they've done it and make it almost impossible to contact them to find out why or how to regain access. In my case it was because I used a mobile phone number that another family member was sharing. You can't share a mobile phone number in ING-land. If you do, they will just lock your account until you complain. I eventually had to get AFCA involved to get the account back and a significant compensation payment was made by ING to me for the inconvenience.

      • Can’t PM you but any chance you can share some of the template you used when contacting AFCA?

        • +2

I don't use a template. The form is not that bad to fill out. Each complaint has a bespoke form filled out with the reason for the complaint. No two complaints are the same, so there's no worth in a standard template type form for this. I'm afraid if you want to win and force the banks to back down, you have to be willing to put in the work and call their bluffs and be willing to go all the way to arbitration if it comes to that (it never has yet for me). The banks are not unreasonably assuming that most people can not be bothered, and then they win. I have never lost a single AFCA case yet (and there have been too many to count). What you need to know is that the banks fund AFCA and if a case gets to full-on arbitration level, then the bank is charged $10,000 to fund the hearing of that case. The bank is charged this, not you, and it's an upfront, non-refundable cost. It therefore follows that any case involving a sum in dispute < $10K will be won by the complainant if you hold your nerve. At the end of the day it comes down to loss minimisation by the bank. Eventually, their actuaries will look at it and decide the lesser loss is to pay you out rather than pay $10,000 to AFCA for a hearing.

        • +3

I too had my ING account closed, after many years, with no reason given, no right of appeal. I just moved to Macquarie.

However Nab did the account lockdown to me too, purely for depositing a cheque and immediately transferring it out. They made me feel like a criminal. I complained and when they did nothing I also went to the AFCA and claimed compensation. I got a substantial settlement from Nab to close the matter.

Years later they gave me incorrect advice and blocked an NPP payment (preventing me doing a share purchase at a favourable price), again for no good reason. That one got me $700 without even going to the AFCA.

Don't be afraid to raise an AFCA complaint, it costs nothing, is really simple and will immediately get some focus from the bank, I've done it with many different ombudsman orgs like this and always came away on top. You should raise an official complaint with the bank first (request this on chat or over the phone) and get a reference number. Then quote this in the AFCA submission.

          Don't take their BS!

  • The 25% Velocity bonus seems like a good way to spend all these free points.

  • Do you guys transfer to your own or partner account?

  • got email my card will change to mastercard end of this year. new card number.. hmm wondering if all my payall setup will still exist/working after. interesting time ahead

    • which card u have if I may know? actually wondering too, what will happen if our card expire and they have to renew it (card number stays same in this case though, but technically it's different card with different expiration date)

      • Mine has new card number, I would probably will need to update the bpay details also when I transfer payment from other bank to Citi. A pain

        • Did your PayAll stop because of that?

          • @hanofee: Not yet as I haven't activate the new card yet

      • mine is the free for life premier visa grandfathered card

        • I have the same, but no email (maybe not yet) :(

          • @hanofee: everyone would get the email at different time, depending when your card is due to be renewed
            (i guess)

    • PayAll payments will be seemlessly transferred across automatically. Priority Pass membership will not. You will have to re-apply for Priority Pass again with the new card. Adjoining Diners card will be replaced at same time as Visa.

  • How does one pay themselves via payall? Every time I attempt it I get a message saying that I can not pay myself. Is it a matter of entering a different name? Thanks

    • Yes, i think that how they checked.

  • how do you setup a payall through email / sms? the android app (Samsung) is only defaulting to 2 months.

  • I believe this offer now ends 31/10/22? It looks like anything set up after that incurs a 2% fee.
