                    • @CheapOjoe: Have you checked the tracking on aliexpress? Mine now says “ Shipment accepted by airline” so things seem to be happening.

                      • @MasturBlake: I checked everything. Nothing.

                        • +2

@CheapOjoe: Mine hasn't shipped yet either. Ali Express still have it listed as "To be shipped". I'm not too worried - I assume it'll happen eventually, even if it does take a little longer.

        • Mine is with the airline so should be in the country by tonight or tomorrow morning. Then it’s up to Australia Post to deliver.

          • +1

@jlogic: Really wondering what order they are shipping these in as mine is yet to be shipped and it was still 6:00 when my order was completed.

            • @witheredcouch: Same here. Still nothing for me :(

              • +1

@adrianhughes1998: I received a response from the store today stating that "the stock will arrive this Friday" and then a few hours later I got a notification that mine had shipped.

My guess is they sold more than they actually had in their warehouse. As for the order, I think they're processing the orders however their system spits them out… which by the sounds of it, isn't in chronological order.

                • @ellukesmith: Cheers mate definitely seems that way with how they're being run out the door with demand :(

            • @witheredcouch: Not sure but as of today it is on route in Australia now. Hopefully before the weekend it gets delivered.

              • @jlogic: That's pretty good! Mine is still yet to ship unfortunately.

                • @witheredcouch: Mine just arrived, along with a nice surprise! Guess I was in the first 100 as I got a Mi Watch Lite

                  • @witheredcouch: Any chance you can use that fancy macro lens and take a photo of the tech specs on the charger? Unless it has an Australian plug by some chance.

Tbh, when I passed through Beijing airport they had Australian plugs everywhere, I kinda thought that they used the same as us …

                    • @jonathonsunshine: that is Chinese plug which is similar to Australian plug but upside down.

Australian plug must have insulation in the plug and Chinese standard doesn't have and it is a bit slimmer.

                    • @jonathonsunshine: There you go!

                      https://i.imgur.com/EDeHoUq.jpg

It comes with an adapter, though i am just going to be using one of my many USB PD hubs I have around.

                      • @witheredcouch: damnit, i still don't feel like I hundred percent for sure know what sort of charger to buy. I wanna max speed one to carry round in my man bag.

                        • @jonathonsunshine: the charger is xiaomi's 33w fast charger. it supposedly uses a proprietary charging protocol to speed up charging. maybe there is a version with cn/au plug. the eu charger with au adapter is pretty clumsy

                          • @c64: I've been looking for a 3rd party charger that is compatible with their protocol - can you even buy legit Xiaomi chargers in Australia?

Looking forward to the car fast charger!

  • Did anyone manage to get a blue one in the first few mins of the sale?
I get the impression they are holding back stock so they can sell at full price after the sale ends or they made less of them. It's hands down the best looking colour out of all 3.

    • Who knows what they are doing. We buy whatever is available at the time. Poco can do whatever they want in terms of quantity.

Always have a case so wouldn’t see the blue anyways.

    • +1

I would have tried to get a blue if it wasn't for the hideous branding on it. Why can't they make one without POCO plastered across the back. So I unfortunately had to go with the black instead.

      • Same the blue is gorgeous but it had that extra gaudy branding so I'm out , went with black. White looked nice but everything I have at home is either black or stainless steel, so went with the black.

  • Not shipped yet, I am contemplating cancelling my order, all messages to seller have gone unanswered. No way I will get it now by the promised 23rd of April.

    • +1

Is that the Aliexpress delivery due date? If so generally they do deliver by that date so just be patient.

All my orders on Aliexpress have always delivered by that date provided.

  • Anyone know Australian phone stores that would sell screen protectors and cases, where I can pick one up over the counter or get it shipped in a couple of days?

    • the phone should come with a case & a factory installed film screen protector

      • Ah, sweet, I knew about the clear case, screen protector was the main thing. I'll just order a couple a bunch of glass ones wherever is cheapest then. I always goof the first few installs.

        • they probably sell protectors for the rear camera as well, or even both front + rear

          • @c64: yeah, I didn't have any trouble finding them on amazon, ebay etc but I was just spooked about 1 to 23 weeks I might end up having my phone without a screen protector. I presume availability in Australia will get better over the next month or so as well

  • Anyone able to confirm that Redmi k40 / Redmi K40 Pro and Poco F3 are all identical for the purposes of getting a case and screen protector?

    • Just signed in and Google is showing the phone as a Redmi K40 so would assume it's the same as the Poco F3

  • Anyone receive their phone yet? Mines still in transit, departed from CN

    Eta currently 23rd April

    • I’m in the same boat. I’ve had no updates since the 4th of April.

      • Bummer, looks like my arbitrary 10 days from leaving country to delivered might not be the way to count it properly.

I'm surprised about no movement from the 4th though - @masterhawk23 's took 5 days from "leaving country" to getting to Australia.

I'm on 10 days, and then it'll still have to get from Sydney to Adelaide with whatever (probably shoddy) courier company.

Can't come soon enough, my current phone's USB-C port is properly cooked!

        • +1

I believe it get delivered via AusPost

        • Yeah I’m in Adelaide too. Keep me posted as to when yours arrives.

          • @MasturBlake: Will do - I'm surprised there's been nothing since the 4th when a lucky few already have them in their hot little hands.

I guess that's part of the fun of Aliexpress.

              • @MasturBlake: Pretty lucky.

  • My phone rocked up on Tuesday, I only opened it this morning, power brick is US version, didnt come with an Australian Adapter, worth complaining or nah?

  • +1

But it works. The charger itself is high wattage and charges very fast.

Unlike Apple iphone 12 or Samsung S21 chargers that don't exist @ 3 times the price.

  • does the final price include tax?

    • yes, 10% GST is added at checkout. The price in this post includes 10% gst

    Some thoughts on the phone:

I quite like it - it's fast, the camera is pleasantly better than I thought it would be, the fast charger is fast but charging with PD chargers is pretty quick.

I truly disliked whatever stock OS it came with - your face would press buttons on the screen whilst you were on a call, it would continuously change songs in pocket because the screen would keep turning on - but I have since unlocked the bootloader and installed the xiaomi.eu version of MIUI (I installed the "weekly" 12.6 version) and it's far more polished and less buggy. Aaaand - all the ads and things have been removed already, and its battery life is better (but I still feel there's more to give here).

I truly dislike all the MIUI optimizations though, and had to change the "battery optimization" settings for Waze, Spotify, etc. in order to have them work properly. Who would've thought that it's smart to shutdown Youtube whilst you're listening to something because the app isn't in the foreground. And for what? To save RAM on a phone that has 8GBs of it? Actually ridiculous.

The screen is really nice, and the bluetooth connection is sooooo much better than on my old phone. The speakers aren't as good as I thought they'd be, but they're still actually pretty good, and the stereo thing is awesome.

The most exciting part is that the big-hitters of the custom ROM scene have started releasing versions for the F3, so I can have that stock Android experience. crDroid (Official) and Pixel Experience (Not Official) have arrived!

The Fingerprint reader is bang on, and I love where it is.

    They're my thoughts so far.
