    So tempted - got a red 256Gb S21+ in my cart - net $724.

I'm torn because the upcoming A72 has headphone + removable storage and a charger in the box. But will probably cost more than the current S21+ offer.

    • +1 vote

Just to entice you to buy… S21 has better video capabilities (with the wide lens camera having dual pixel autofocus - something you want in a video cam). Wifi 6, USB 3 (A72 is USB 2) so S21 would support DeX and USB-C/Alt-mode HDMI.

      A72 does have microSD support…

      •

        Thanks.

I managed to get a $200 voucher so got it down to $524 - no brainer at that price!

    •

I assume all three things will be phased out of all phones eventually. Might be time to adapt with the S21+!

  •

Does anyone know how to get this $200 coupon? I contacted the online chat but they said they can't give it to me.

    •

Try another agent or at night and which chat you used?

    •

i have one if you need it

  •

I have tried and the online chat cannot give it to me as well. :(

    •

Seem like morning agents are harder to get, just at night after 8pm

      •

Yep as i mentioned, I got 2 codes easy on Tuesday night and none Wednesday Day and 2 more wed night easy as (Other than the IT chat network error)
Got a 5th code Thursday 8pm est. (Passed the codes off on here to other members, PS none left so no more pm's please)

Night Chat is likely just using a different office in a different country!

    •

      same

      •

Try again until you get a good rep.

        •

Very confusing, what do they give this voucher code for? Why some get and some don't?

          •

@HappyBargainer: $200 voucher for buying S21 from official Samsung site, 7 day expiry. OZBers have indicated the code works for Ultra as well.

Why some get and some don't?

Some / most reps are nice and they will contact the relevant team to generate a code and give it to you. However, some reps don't care. They simply tell you no.

    •

      Yeah, no luck either :'(

  •

Man I've connected to 2 chat agents and both agreed to give me $200 voucher.
But when I provide them my details, the network connection stuffs up.

    Ugghhh….

    •

What did you ask them when you were enquiring about the $200 voucher? I asked my agent and he said the voucher was only meant to be for people whose device could not be repaired or something like that.

      •

The one I've just talked to told me they have only the $50 voucher and not $200. The latter is only for folks who are eligible, and they would receive an email with the voucher. I bloody waited for too long. Probably OzBargainers drove them nuts. Haha

        •

People abusing it too im sure.

      • +1 vote

Told them I was switching up from an iPhone. If the person introduces themselves as from the Australian side, there's more chance for the voucher.

  • +1 vote

Just had a live chat and was told if the handset is not sent back, you pay for trade in plus $500 promotion both.

  •

Damn! They aren't budging. Went on chat and this is what I was told:

Apologies for the confusion, customers who are eligible for the $200 will be contacted via email.

If you haven't received one, then that would mean you are not eligible.

    •

I think no more $200 very soon

    •

yep i keep getting "Jumar" who's telling me 'wait for email'

      • +1 vote

I think the rep who helped me was Jyson, he was quite helpful. Bear in mind that I had to wait a few minutes as he had to contact another team to issue a voucher.

Use two browsers, keep Jumar busy while trying to get another rep on another browser. Reps not giving out vouchers don't need to spend much time per support chat, so they will be serving more people.

        •

keep Jumar busy while trying to get another rep on another browser.

This is by far the funniest thing I've ever seen on ozbargain. What are we doing with our lives? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

    •

I literally just went on chat and got 4 codes very easily…

      •

care to share a code :)

      •

pleease share.. i've been trying to get one and the 'experts' aren't helping

      •

have now given out 3 of the 4 codes. No more messages please…

        •

If you don't mind me asking, what did you ask for when you talked to them? So far I've gotten 2 responses, either wait for email or they link me to the trade up bonus :(

    • +1 vote

Have been knocked back once, waiting to get through to another agent.

In the meantime, if anyone has a spare code they're not using and happy to share, I'd greatly appreciate one :)

      •

make sure you are using the loyalty link live chat

it's on the first page comments.

        •

Yeah. Have just done that and it has worked. Ta

  •

Which is the more advisable buy? S21, S21+ or Ultra? Rarely game, most use is browsing/emails and media consumption. Camera is important.

    • +1 vote

Ultra has the better camera but is considerably larger in size/weight. If that doesn't bother you, go the Ultra.

The other 2 are identical apart from screen and battery size. Likely get a little better battery out of the S21+.

      •

Currently using S10+ (largest I'd probably go). Bought it used in excellent condition couple of weeks ago. Was an upgrade (side grade?) from S10e.
Does the S21 or the plus allow dual sim capabilities? Esim+physical?

        • +1 vote

Don't go the Ultra then, maybe even the S21+ also as size wise it's not too far off the Ultra - weight/thickness being the biggest difference. Check them out in store if you can.

Dual SIM is as you say; Esim + physical

    • +1 vote

try to put ultra in your pocket before you buy

      looks nice but wowww

Anyone having issue with the Trade up app? My phone cannot pass the gyrometer test when it is working fine on auto rotation, GPS, Google Map, compass etc.. Its also working fine with other testing apps………….

    •

ya it's a pos. I can't even use it and it says my pixel 4a 5g is ineligible despite the promo landing page saying it's worth $225 trade in.

      •

Worked on my Galaxy Note 8. The app is a bit clunky though.

        •

Is it for Samsung phones only? seems odd that you can search for any brand on the promo page and it spits out a value. So I assumed brand didn't matter.

Would help maybe if it provided a little more info. But yeah it's trash.

          •

@bert-lifts: I'm not sure, its not very clear. I assumed it was any phone.

          •

@bert-lifts: It worked with my pixel 4

            •

@Sunproof: Right. I'll chalk it down to the app being garbage then lol.

          •

@bert-lifts: It is for all the phones that you can find in the promo page.

            •

@Bangriboss: yep. my pixel 4a 5g is on the promo page. valued at $225 trade in value. But when I start the app up on my phone it immediately says it's ineligible.

              •

@bert-lifts: That happened to my partner's note 8 too. It is probably because they are grey import.

                •

@Bangriboss: it's local stock though. Got it from officeworks.

                  •

@bert-lifts: Has it been rooted or anything? Have you installed the correct app? I think the app has different versions.

                    •

@Bangriboss: nope, haven't done anything to it. I even scanned the QR code to go directly to the trade in app.

      •

Yep. Entering all your details the zero digit doesn't register when entered within the app.

    • +1 vote

Tried online support and call in, no help at all…..
      This is frustrating

    •

Gyro app didn't work on an iphone 7 I tested. When I tested my S20 though, it worked fine. That part of the app is glitched I think for iphone…

      •

I just tried on a Iphone 7 plus and it worked. Its annoying it didnt work on my iphone se but it runs perfectly fine on all other apps…..

      •

My iPhone 7 passed the Gyro test, but iPhone se failed.

        •

Probably Samsung failed the SE in purpose after all LOL
I'm by no mean a mobile expert but it's somewhat confusing to see mine failed when its working fine in all other apps.
I have sent Asurion an email, hoping they can provide a solution.

          •

@wangad: Try clear cache on the app, uninstall and reinstall

            •

@superforever: Thanks I will give that a go.
I tried updating firmware, restore the phone in dfu mode, reset the phone 3 times, install and uninstall the app over 10 times. LOL

              •

@wangad: I was thinking of buying the iphone se 2016 from the fb market place for $100, but after seeing your comments I'm not so sure.

                • +1 vote

@nmcc08: Unless you want to be honest with the seller and give it go before paying them XD

            •

@superforever: Sadly it didnt work neither. I gave up, will wait for their emails which I don't hold any hopes LOL

  •

Is 128gb on ultra enough? All my phone that i have owned so far, have max gone 110gb on one phone but usually 60—70gb.

    •

If you're don't feel lazy to transfer your files to your PC once a year, the 128gb should be fine. I've had a 128gb phone for two years now and I've only transferred the files to my computer once.

    •

Not really. for instance - 108mp photo is approx 25mb.
4k videos take up a lot of space as well. If you backup everything to cloud, then you should be fine. Otherwise get atleast 256gb.

Anyone planning to not return phone?
It says in the trade up email I've just got that there will be a $150 fee for no-return (value of phone).
If it's only that charged, I'd consider not returning the phone actually.

    •

I'm planning to not return the phone.

    •

at what stage you get that email from tradeup?

      •

I got it 1 hr after delivery

        •

Which phone you were trading up and how much was the cost shown on tradeup

          • +1 vote

            @K3rb3ro5: Iphone 7 plus, $150

Works fine and is immaculate cosmetically. Just resell is horrible lmao

            •

@Jimothy Wongingtons: My screen cracked note10plus showed 50$ will they ask me for just 50$ if yes.. m not returning as well πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

              •

@K3rb3ro5: Must have not been serious if it passed the screen test at app check level.

                •

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Screen is fine a bit crack on glass and they quoted just 50$.
I felt its good to swap under this deal as the phone went out of warranty as soon as i cracked it within 6mnthsπŸ˜…πŸ˜…

                •

@Jimothy Wongingtons: So you don't have to pay for the "$500"??

                  •

@wangad: I just had a chat with samsung support and I was told they'll charge for the 500$ voucher as well!

                    •

@Namex13: Ya otherwise its too good to be truth πŸ˜“πŸ˜“

                      •

@wangad: I really can't see how they could do this, it's not in the T&C's that I can see.
Lots of speculation so far, it will take a brave ozbargainer to test and advise…..

                    •

@Namex13: Obviously if you ask them they will say yes they will charge and they might update their current process and tnc

I don't see anything like this in yheir tnc right now.

Lets not ask them take chance and see what happens.πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

                      • +1 vote

@K3rb3ro5: If you read the tnc, it doesn't exactly mention they'll charge you the $500, but it does mention:

5.4 Before entering Your Trade ID when purchasing a New Samsung Device Online, You agree to:

                        (c) Us undertaking a final assessment of Your Existing Device to:
                        (i) confirm whether Your Existing Device Qualifies for the Program when we
                        receive Your Existing Device; and
                        (ii) determine whether Your Existing Device has been Mis-Graded;

11.1 We may preclude You from participating in the Program if at any time We reasonably believe
                        that:

                        (b) You have breached these Terms and Conditions;

Program would probably mean the $500 promotion.
If you dont send your phone, they wont be able to confirm whether the device qualifies for the program, which would be a breach in the T&C.
If they preclude/disqualify you from participating in the program, they could charge you the value of the promotion.

  •

Hmm is it worth it to upgrade from the S10 5G to either the S21+ or S21 Ultra? I managed to get the extra $200 discount code and newsletter voucher.
