  • Nice, slowly working back down to that juicy sub $1500 deal with the biostar MB.

Any chance of a 6700xt intel deal? I'm sure lots would jump if a slightly lower price intel system dropped compared to the 3600 system :)

Intel really smashing it in the budget sector atm!

    • We've sold through the allocation which allowed us to hit the price point we did initially - waiting on quantity and pricing on future batches. It was a popular deal though, no doubt.

      • Hi Luke,

I am just wondering if I can upgrade/adjust an existing order?

        Thank you

  • +11

I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel 🤣 (3080 customer)

    • +5

You're like me, just check out the post for the 3080 update haha

      • +1

Yep i make sure to check them all for 3080 news also :)

      • +1

Patience is a virtue. Same here, waiting for the msi 3080. :)

    • Have you guys received the email yet?

      • I haven't received it yet

      • nothing yet…

        • Allocation is not for all orders. The email i got had this in it "If you are receiving this email, you are in the position in the order queue to receive one of these cards."

  • What's better value, the AMD Ryzen 5 3500X or Intel i5-10400F 3060 build?

    • +10

      Probably 10400f with hyper threading.

  • What is the updates for 3080? Is it for older deals?

    • +1

      Yeah its for January orders

  • Im always down for some good 3080 news excited to hear luke.

  • Plenty of places selling just the 3070 card for close to this system price.

  • This 3070 pc or dell xps 8940 anyone know which is better

    • +3

The techfast one atleast uses off the shelf parts. The dell uses their own crap and apparently their gaming PC overheats and throttles like crazy. Better off getting the techfast assuming all other specs are the same ish

    • XPS you get Dell support (which is good from experience) and it's more compact. Disadvantage is that it uses proprietary parts (PSU and Motherboard) so limited upgradeability (can still upgrade RAM, Storage and GPU if within power limits). It also has issues with the CPU running too hot from inadequate cooling which causes thermal thottling. From what I've heard some workarounds are having the case open when gaming, undervolting the CPU or upgrading the CPU cooler.

      • It's funny how Linus Tech tips struggle to get good service from Dell, but yet, we seem to think they're one of the more reliable big sellers. Even their outlet products gets their warranty honoured.

        • +1

Maybe it's just good in Australia but not so good in Canada

          • +1

@FireRunner: I assume so, probably cause our ACCC has quite some power in meditating for consumers rights.

    • No doubt the dell is much better value. It does not have cheap components, has an activated OS, it also runs cooler, and has superior tech support in Australia!

      • Link for the Dell in a similar price range please?

  • Hi, any chance of the Intel i5-11400F with a RTX 3070 build (or RTX 3060 Ti)?

    Thanks

    • +1

10th gen for now until 11th gen availability increases.

    • that would be killer value gaming combo, wonder how much diff 10400F and 11400F, i heard reviews says the 10th is doing better? i guess that is game depended?

  • +1

looks like a really good price on the 10400f 3060 build. my friend's been looking for a PC with that sort of spec, maybe he'll jump on it. :)

  • A bit of a weird question but with the 3060 system, how would it stack up if I swapped out the 3060 with 3070GTX?

    • Assuming you mean an RTX 3070, it would be fine. The only difference is PSU brand for cost structure purposes but the Allied 750W powers RTX 370 just fine.

  • Can we order a system and have it not built just have the parts sent out boxed up?

    • Yep, use the Ship Unassembled checkbox at Checkout!

      • Hey if I ship GPU separately, would I get the retail box that comes with it?

    • Why would you want it unassembled

      • Keep the GPU, sell the rest of the parts as BNIB. Or potentially the other way around, keep the system, sell the GPU. The GPU is going for crazy prices, sell it for $800, get a shiny new system for $500.

Not everyone needs every part of a new system, I'm on the fence about using this as an upgrade platform then selling the rest as BNIB will get more value on gumtree/ebay/facebook.

        • +4

I had to use google to understand Buy New In Box. I’m not the hustler I thought I was.

        • I've thought about keeping the GPU and selling the rest, but hesitated because I don't think people will pay RRP for something off gumtree even if it's brand new in a box??

So say if the system is $1800, rest of system is $800 so 3070 is $1000 (street is selling for ~$1.5k). Realistically, you will sell the system for say $500 on gumtree so the GPU is actually $1.3k?

          • @AlgoTrading: You could be like this guy, try for $750

Honestly, I don't think it's worth the hassle selling everything as parts. You'll wind up with a case you can't sell and deal with half a dozen people. Just get it as a desktop, slap it on gumtree and ask for $500 and it'll probably sell, you get a 3070 for $1,300 which is fine in the current market.

Granted, if you actually want the GPU for gaming, I'd wait for more stock of the 6700XT to drop for $900. Retail price of the 3070 is only meant to be $30 more than the 6700 XT, it's not a $600 better card.

            • @freefall101: lol I assume this guy harvested 5 3070s for mining. Unfortunately I need the cuda cores for tensorflow…

      • +2

to build yourself with other parts, diff case etc. or as said be a scummy reseller

        • Yep those techfast cases are on the nasty side probably how they keep the deals so ridiculously cheap.

I have a nice Antec case for the partner that would get most parts and a Nice Fractal case with an existing Ryzen 9 3900x that would get the GPU.

A 3070 would a massive jump up from my 1070.

And the case would probably go in the bin with the AIO cooler.

      • i would love that too, since i already have a pc, and i would like to build a new off this 2 pcs.

  • is there a 3060 Ti option

    • None around sorry.

  • Hi Luke if we upgrade to the MAG case with 240mm AIO is it top or front mounted? And how is it mounted for the Lance V case? Which of the two cases is bigger?

    • Lance-V is front-mounted. Forge is generally top mounted using the AIO cooler's fans, with the case's fans staying as they are pre-installed at the front, but it also fits front-mounted.

  • Chances of me scoring 3080/70 FE is 0!

  • Hey Luke!
Any chance of a Gigabyte Vision GPU?
    Cheers :)

    • +1

Not a model we've ever had in actually!

  • Another dumb question - do either MB's offered provide usb type-C ports? Couldn't find it on the intel specsheets. If it doesn't support then I assume I'm just limited to type-A ports?

    • Not a dumb question but not something I can guarantee. The B460 won't have it - some of the Z490s we get in have them but as we use a variety I can't guarantee it, so if you 100% need it it's a problem!

  • Huge stretch I imagine, but any hope of you selling just a "CPU plus GPU" package (e.g. 5600X/3080)? I already have RAM/Mobo/Case/PSU/Storage/Cooling so would just need those two.

    • We're more likely to do CPU + MB but GPU isn't something we have surplus of.

      • I'm interested of getting CPU MB and RAM combo so please let me know when you have a deal

  • Dumb Q.
How do they sell this for less than buying the bare parts
    CPU/GPU/RAM/Mobo separately?

    • Business model really supports it by taking away choice. Rather than sell people whatever part they ask for, have a basic spec, get the number of orders then get the parts to fill that. There's little need to keep stock on hand too, just order what you need or pick up things really cheap when suppliers offer it on sale (suppliers do sales too). They might have a few hundred i5-10400F chips sitting around the warehouse, they don't keep to keep the entire range of all processes in stock. With GPUs the supplier prices are all over the place, they just need to wait until something comes through reasonably close to RRP (which for a 3060 is supposed to be $530)

Also volume purchases. Most IT stores only hold a small volume of stock for each individual item, walk into a PC store and you'll rarely see more half a dozen of a single version of a case or PSU in stock. But Techfast has probably built their office out of Lance-V cases.

No need for a retail store showing hundreds of parts, maintaining stock and inventory pages online, no providing customer support on what to buy (except answering Ozbargain questions on "why can't I get x board?"), it's all really streamlined. A lot like a mini-Dell, they aren't out chasing down all sorts of different cards and setups either.

  • Thanks for the update, eagerly awaiting my 3600/3070 order :)

  • +1

Anybody else not received an email regarding the 3080 update?

    • +4

It will be tomorrow sorry, had to leave early for some family stuff.

      • All good mate, hope all is well!

      • -1

        all hail king LukeTF

  • +1

If buying the 3060 model, remember to upgrade the power supply.

If you want to add drives now or in the future get the case upgrade. The Lance requires a fair amount of disassembly to add hard drives.

  • Would this be suitable for running an Nvidia V100?

    • +2

Yes, no issues running mine sweeper or solitaire. But due to the V100 AI focus you’ll be lucky to win anything after the first game.

  • Really good price. Pity i already have a 3080 build and a 1650s build

  • +2

Hey mate will you have any 3060ti systems coming?

    • No cards anywhere

  • +1

Any chance of a future deal using a mininitx case like the cooler Master nr200?

  • Luke, please check your messages

  • I think not very busy about this deal. When January deal 3070 deal with under 1500, thumb up 400 500 even more. Please do it again

    • +1

We would now lose several hundred dollars per unit at that price.

  • +2

Really interest in the 3060 deal but ideally how long is the wait ? I have heard in the past people have wait for months? If you cant give the exact time frame what the worse i will be expecting?

    • I’d also be interested to know more about the wait time.

    • Shipping estimated from early May onwards for both of these.

  • I see that in your motherboard description that, "A second PCIE device (e.g. network card) will not fit. Brand/model may vary." Is this due to how much physical room the 3060/3070 occupy? Would a riser/extender overcome this limitation? I'm wanting to upgrade for VR and the wireless Vive needs a PCIE slot for the Wi-Gig card. What would be my options?

  • +1

Pm'ed you, Luke, but I guess I have a better chance here for your response!

You gave me a confirmation on the 3600-6700 post, that the order I placed about 6 hours before the deal expired, is valid as it was placed successfully.
The status still shows up as "pending" although I had made the bank transfer with the order/invoice number as the reference immediately after placing the order. Would sending techfast an email with the proof of payment fasten the process of my order status going to the next stage from "pending"?
Additionally, I wanted to know whether the 6700XT order updates you post on your newer deals are relevant to me or if I should just expect the dispatch to happen 14 business days from the date my order was placed.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Luke,
Could you please tell me when you will be sending out the emails regarding the 3080 deal.

    • Hi David, are you able to email the sales team at [email protected] if you haven't received your RTX 3080 update email? They should be able to give you an update on that, thanks.

      ~ Christian

  • Hi Luke

Any idea when these are suppose to ship? I ordered one on Thursday but I haven’t heard anything about my order since.

    Thanks

    • Can confirm Luke had advised in the deal above that the systems will be shipping estimated from early May onwards as this has a 14 business day time frame applied to it.

      ~ Christian

  • Good deal considering the cheapest rtx 3070 card in stock i could find last week anywhere in Australia was $1550 and even those have sold out already.

  • Great deal. Building a system at the moment feels impossible due to the graphics shortage.

  • I'm I able to sell the GPU for $1200 and keep the system for just $100? hahaha

  • Hi Luke,

I'm just wondering if I could upgrade and adjust the hardware on my existing order.

    Thanks

    • Hi Yuki, please email [email protected] regarding this with your order number and our team will be able to help you out with this, thanks.

      ~ Christian
