$5 Referral Bonus for Referrer & Referee ($5 Min Investment within 14 Days of Sign up Required) @ Spaceship

870

Previous $10 deal has expired so posting this new deal.

Note that referral codes need to be added to your account after you sign up (within 14 days of sign up). Use the referral randomiser to get a code. You MUST invest a minimum of $5 to receive the $5 referral.

I wish I didn't have to say this but people are still ruining it for others by adding their code when they haven't deposited money yet. Don't be a jerk - some are investing for the first time in their life and they're missing out on these referral bonuses (which can act as a cushion in case their principal goes down slightly from initial investment)

No fees on the first $5,000 invested, and 0.1% on balances above $5,000. I'd recommend the universe portfolio, see historical returns (https://newwwie.net/).

Past performance is not indicative of future performance.

    Mods please flush codes

    • Have added my code to the random picker, happy investing everyone

      • +1

Need to wait till codes are flushed first!

      • had you successfully made your first deposit though?

        • Mine wasn't there, so I guess it was flushed, I've never gotten a referral and invest using the app for awhile :(

          • +2

@DaTa: My referral code hasnt changed the last 3 times the codes were 'flushed'…

        • Ok I added it now, and yes I have added money in to my account and my referral code works

      • Where do I add my referral code to the random picker?

        • On the grey box above, there is an edit button - this will take you to the referral page. There is space for all vendors who have referral programs.

Very impressed with the app and the service over the year. I've only had a little invested (initial + bonus + touch more), but a yearly return of 62.99% for me is insane. While I have the knowledge and skills to invest directly in the share market, it's a massive time sink to even keep up with an average market return. Having seen the returns be excellent for the year, and comfortable with the information they provide and the decisions they make, I am going to be funneling a good chunk of my house savings here.

    • Is that after all fees?

      • +3

No fees under $5k so yes

        • Fees above $5k are miniscule anyways.

My monthly return on crypto last month was 600%

Can't judge something like this against crypto. Apart from the obvious around risk, this is an accessible and scalable platform - the share market has existed forever, the appeal of this is the ease and accessibility.

        • Share market has risk too , as with all investments.

Crypto is highly volatile which makes it more profitable , like the sudden dip that happened yesterday around 1pm …

          • @easternculture: Absolutely, but these trade mainly in index funds which reduces the risk considerably. Volatility doesn't mean more profit, it means more variance in profit.

When did you invest? Bottom of the market in March 2020?

      • +3

I guess that is when the investment was made. I invested about 2 months ago and went down 10%, now only 4% down

      • +3

December 2019 - lost a chunk of it by March but was back to my original balance by April, gone gangbusters since then.

  • It keeps telling me "There seems to be a problem with your referral code". Do I need to invest first?

    • +3

Yes. If they're blocking codes for those who haven't invested then that's good news.

      • I mean I am trying to input someone's code into spaceship. I just made an account so maybe I need to wait for verification.

        • The code you are using is probably old. They changed all the codes this morning - you will have to wait till Ozbargain spills all the old ones, or just keep clicking the referral link button and trying different codes until you hit one that was updated today.

        • Edit - codes flushed now

          • @neilpatrickharris: It would be so good if you could only flush codes that were entered before today. I put my new code in this morning and then it got wiped again.

  • Would be interesting to see if they rotate between $5 and $10 referral bonus on a regular basis like a month vs a month?

    • +2

I think it's fairly random - reckon they probably have internal targets for new sign ups, and they bump it up when they're not tracking.

  • who are these guys backed by? Anyone using the super fund?

Was just reading reviews and found this,

Spaceship was fined by ASIC for false and misleading conduct.

I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them.

Been with them for 6 months, nil issue so far with regular auto investing after throwing my ETF money in their universal portfolio. The return has been pretty good thus far but obviously subject to market condition. It is quite concentrated in tech with some diversification into other sectors, which you can either see as positive or negative depending on your investment philosophy. Cost-wise, it is a lot lower than ETFs. Even just the MER itself is lower in comparison to most international ETFs (except for the US domeciled vanguard funds of course). In addition, there's no brokerage if you are into DCA like myself. Can recommend.

  • Some helpful info about comparing Raiz with Spaceship Voyager
    https://www.infochoice.com.au/news/comparing-raiz-vs-spacesh…

    • +3

It seems the article is a bit outdated. Raiz charges more in fees now.

      • +1

Wow before it was cheap but they raized the prices makes it a worthless investment… Good thing I closed my account with them awhile back never paid the fee as they gave me some bonus or credit when it was acorns

This part of the Product Disclosure document amused me:

    "Ethical considerations
The Fund does not take into account labour standards or environmental, social or ethical considerations in the selection, retention or realisation of its investments."

So you know they're not gonna leave money on the table, I guess. It definitely lines up with the companies they're investing in. That's the game though.

    • +2

I think they have a portfolio that does ethical and environmental stuff. Without looking into it, I would say the returns would not be as high. Happy with my non-ethical investing, as I am sure others are willing to sacrifice a bit of return. Rather they be up front about it.

      • +2

I agree. I'm not really having a go. It's actually reassuring they're so blunt about it.

Which is factual information everyone wants, especially for these who care so much about ESG….

  • I switched from Raiz to Spaceship a while back. Pretty happy with it so far. I had a small Super fund held elsewhere from a short part time job. Rather than roll it in to my larger super fund, I sent it across to Spaceship. So far, so good.

  • I've seen them advertising on bus shelters lately!!

I wish they'd have sold out of A2M, although it's now fallen so far that it might have reached a floor.

My referee hasn't made$5 in to their account. His name is Steven. Can he please do the necessary? Thanks

    • +1

Could be me… but my deposit landed this morning. I'm waiting for a Jeffery to do the same.

  • What is the "index" tracking on this site? https://newwwie.net/

  • What kind of ID do you need to sign up to Spaceship?

    • Drivers license, passport etc

      • They didn't ask me for anything.

  • New to all of this, but just signed up - thanks to Marcus.

Question around the portfolio though - I went with universe, is it possible to change or at least diversify?

    • The portfolio is already heavily diversified - diversifying different portfolios has diminishing returns. You can go into the app and see how many stocks it's invested in, there is something like a hundred.

  • codes not working

  • Worked well in a single attempt. Thanks Referrer and OP :)

  • I just want to say thanks to "mark" for being my first refferal!

  • Is there a way to setup notifications for when the codes get flushed?

    • I usually get a notification from OzBargain

      • Sorry should have clarified - I get the notification up top of the OzBargain page, is there a way to setup email notifications for it though?

  • James you suck. I don't know what your code was or I'd get it removed.

And there doesn't seem to be a way to remove/add another

    • Update - djoker is the man. I have my referral now thanks :-)
