I've been with them for over 2 years now, only thing I would say is the included router I got two years ago range is quite bad, I just moved into a bigger house and had to get another router; plugged the ZTE into it. If they offered routers with external antennas when signing up it, it would be quite a deal, but that's how it goes. Still better than Spintels default router, sheesh. I've had one outage in 2 years, get the speeds I pay for

Just changed over to this deal, mostly smooth. Got a call about 5 or 6pm a day and a half after the application asking if I had the NBN box, which I did, and was then told he would process the application. About 10pm that night NBN with the existing provider went off. Next morning I logged in to my Exetel account, I'd had to do a reset as had not been sent the login details, and found my account was active but no username/password for the modem. About 10am that arrived by email, logged in and all worked.

So had about 12 hours downtime with transition on HFC.

    • On application form there is a field "Did a friend or agent refer you?" to fill in. Do you see any refer a friend or something on your account?

      • No, and couldn't find anything to put in there either.. though I didn't look for long.

    For anyone still reading this:
    - sales rep made a typo on my email address which meant I did not receive any updates or confirmation of my order until I called back a week later
    - I requested a future activation date which was actioned accordingly
    - I was advised the cutover could happen anytime within a 3 day window and only received my Exetel detail after my internet seemingly died. I used the Exetel login details and was up and running on 15minutes. I would have preferred of Exetel could have sent the modem login details before the cutover actually happened and also provided a cutover time.
    - I specifically asked the sales rep to exclude me from the home secure subscription and was assured it's free for the first three months and I would automatically be removed from the subscription at the end of the 3 month trial. I however received an email a couple of days ago stating the payment for the subscription starts in 3 months time. So I was lied to and really not happy with this. Have cancelled the subscription myself via a call to Exetel.

Whilst the service itself so far has been great I absolutely do not accept that I was lied to. Note I went with Exetel with an open mind ignoring everyone's experience and articles posted in this thread.

Can agree being sent the login details by email about 12 hours after NBN has been turned off at the old provider and activated with Exetel is a bit daft.

      • Yeah thats something they should really work on fixing. Don't believe it's impossible to provide the details before the cutover happens.

  • Although the deal is marked expired I rang to place an order for a new service today but to be processed in a few weeks time.

The call rep acknowledged the promo says it's till 31st July but if it's still visible on the website they will still process it as per promo, $50/6mo.

Rep confirms credit check is done
    30 days notice to cancel

But if you're wanting to place an order now to be processed at a future date (over 4 days in advance) like myself then you can do the bank direct debit over the credit card payment option as it will have been confirmed and not affect your churn delay

Did the same a moment ago.

Can confirm that they said the 6 month $50 offer is still available as it's still on their website. The invoice that came through mentions the deal too.

Will be churning out from tangerine at the end of the month.

          No dice.

I had to sign up on the phone because I needed to schedule the start date

I just ordered with kickstart computers Exetel promotion today, it's still live. See how's going.

    • You will need to contact kickstart as per the deal description to get the bonus.

      • Yes, true, Kickstart replied need to email them once connection is live.

        • Do you need to provide them with your Exetel customer ID?

    • Ordered Wednesday with credit card, still not receive PPPOE login details.

      • I guess phone call speeds up the process.

      • Only got those 12 hours after my internet went off… not a smart process.

      • freak, I have been waiting 3 days and still not in process. I am not a pushing people, but with superloop new billing circle starts from Monday that forces me to ring them speeding up the process. I should have done that yesterday rather than waiting like this.

        • I think they rang me about 6pm on day 2, might of been 3. Asked if I had the NBN box, after I confirmed it was about 4 hours until internet went off, then mid morning next day it was working and they send the details.

        • Only helps once they send the password etc…

          • @Pobman: usually it's often same as your MY EXETEL login details

            • @USER DC: Site login and nbn login were different, I tried that in.

      • get connected with Exetel NBN, static public IP but under CGNAT, that using Parsec is only availble through VPN. Rest are all good. Happy now.

  • Joined Exetel a few days ago
And straight away my creditsavvy score
Went from 740s right down to 530s
Only 1 enquiry on my credit and Bloody score went down so much.

Never had any repayment problems or something like that, just this Exetel enquiry man so bloody harsh on credit score.

Strongly suggest you to monitor your credit score

I mean 200 points down is alot of loss of credit score

I am just hoping mine to go back up to 700s soon

    • @user dc Interesting. Did you select direct debit as the payment method? I wonder if the credit check is only for direct debit payment method. If so, payment the $0.50 credit surcharge is the way to go to prevent impacts to one’s credit score.

      • No I used my only1visa prepaid card for the initial setup
Exetel said they may do a pre payment authorisation charge of $1
(WHICH DID NOT GO OUT OF MY ONLY1VISA CARD) But when asked exetel about it they said payment is authorised, not sure how.
Then later that day tried to prepay them $1 using same only1visa card, (from my end, so NOT A MAY) AND THIS $1 went through (i know because that $1 has not been returned if it was payment check $1 then that would have been returned.

At least i am not planning on loan sometime soon, so hopefully not a big deal

I never really had much credit history, i think that may be the reason behind such a big fall in credit score but surprisingly one of my other credit score is still in mid 760s (i cant remember which one, credit savvy, get credit score, or credit simple).

        • Do you realise that having a prepaid credit card doesn't save you from a credit check?

The more lines of credit you have (assuming no bad debts) the better your score will be.

You need to establish a good credit history to get a good score. You can't do this with not having debt like utilities under your name and credit cards.

        • Did you check “credit enquires” details on your credit report summary to see if it’s actually Exetel?

          • +1

@pnsd: Yes credit savvy/credit simple shows clearly who had done credit enquiry.
It was one of them that Exetel did

  • Damn prices are going up now. This is no longer offered. Belong has gone up today too.

Is Tangerine the cheapest @ $54.90 pm (first 6 months) for the 50/20 plan?

Actually AquaMobile is $50 for first 9 months.

FlipTV is also $54 for first 6 months.

  • Exetel NBN is down for me in NSW right now. Anyone else?

    • Not for me, but a week ago just two weeks after I got connected to Exetel, I had been disconnected for more than 24 hours without any prior check or notice (by request from Vocus - M2), as someone requested my address to be connected to another provider !!!

  • I got connected about an hour ago and had some speed issues.

Called up the tech and got through with zero wait.
    The guy was excellent.
As someone who works in IT, this guy was good at his job and didn't waste my time with useless crap.

After much diagnosis we figured out it was a. Issue at my end. I had mistakenly left my quality of service on which capped my speed.

    • What do you mean by "my quality of service"? Doesn't make any sense.

      • +1

QOS is a router setting that lets you limit bandwidth for each connection on your wifi network.

I had it capped at 25/5 per connection

        • Thanks mate. It makes sense now 🙂

  • Anyway to get promotion? Some people were able to call in and get the promotion but when I called I was told its no longer available.

  • Public service announcement.

If you have terrible connectivity despite speedtest getting decent speeds, ask exetel support to disable the Home Secure stuff on their end. This caused issues for me which immediately disappeared once they disabled it.

(Fyi DoorDash dasher app would not work at all)
