I would take the AirPod Pros + Sony XM4s over the AirPods max. The package is cheaper, and you get more use cases (sometimes wearing headphones is inconvenient, so wear the Pros).
You just don't get Airpods max then.
I'm pretty sure whoever buys these is willing to fork out for what exactly they are.

@Tacosaurus Rex: Have you used the Max? They're not 3x better than the XM4s at 3x the cost (assuming the current deal on the Max and the 'seconds' price for the XM4s). I would say they're slightly better.
@lucyrenegade: A porsche 918 is not 5x faster than a porsche 911 but it costs 5x as much. People who buy these aren’t just forking out the money for utility.

Anyone has these AirPods max ? Just wondering how they are ?
I have been using them for almost a month now. No comparison what so ever to XM4's or Bose 700 be it audio eq, the best I have heard in a bluetooth headphone, or noise cancellation. I dont even hear some of the instruments while hearing the same song via my airpods pro's. They are heavy though and although perfectly fine when sitting still because the weight is distributed well more so than even Bose 700 as they clamp really hard, you do feel the inertia while moving.
I've listened to most high-end BT headphones, including the XM4, Bose 700, B&W PX7 and Sennheiser Momentum 3. The only ones that've I found highly enjoyable for music listening are the Sennheisers. Can anyone comment on who the AirPods Max compare with Momentums, especially given that the Max has been compared somewhat favourably to the HD6XX?
I got them back in February. Use them a lot on Domestic flights. I'm very happy with them but the price is hard to swallow. If you're in the Apple ecosystem it makes sense.
I own both the Airpod Max and Sony XM4.
Airpod Max sounds better than the XM4, wider sound stage, much more details (different audio from 360 directions). XM4 sound "boomy" (too much bass) and no sound stage at all (all audio group together in the middle).
If you have an iphone, these headphone integrated seamlessly too, i.e. Siri, switch audio automatically from iphone to ipad / Macbook etc.
The only downside I find is they are heavy and pricey so not for everyone.
Also a far nicer finish/build quality. I have both, and the APMs are next level in comparison. I’ll probably replace my AirPods Pro with the next Powerbeats release as I only use them for gym now and the APMs for everything else.

I bought Bose sound cancelling ones for $350 and thought that was HIDEOUSLY expensive at the time. At least I can just replace the batteries in them or use them without batteries. It's not been 7 years. Once I get to 15, I would happy with the value I got.
These won't last anywhere near that before batteries fail and another hideously expensive fix.
When you have a chip in everything you bring the price up I suppose.
I prefer my Sony XBA-3; simple, easy to drive and well built. And because it doesn't have a battery, I never have to worry about having to throw it out because the battery is dead.
They have a chip on their shoulder that's for sure. These qualcomm 3040 or whatever are dirt cheap.
Wonder it has Qualcomm 3056 though. That would be nice but not worth this much.

No, they are actually better than the XM4. Noise cancelling is on par but for me sound quality was better. And I am an Apple hater and its hurts me to say it….
But I'd still buy the XM4, can't justify the price difference for a slightly better headphone. Around the same price I would buy them over XM4 or Bose.

Main difference is that those are only avail online where as the Apple ones can be purchased instore. This makes the Apples one a tad more expensive being bricks and mortar :-)
