Does it say anywhere how long you can wait before activation ?

Never mind it is 30 days.

My current plan runs out in august

    • +3

I am in the same boat. This offer expires 13/07, I intend to buy it on 12/07 and activate on 09/08. I'll lose about 10 days on the old deal but that's close enough, I reckon

      • Activate within 30 days of purchase or by the date advertised in the promotion, whichever is earlier.

        Offer ends 13/07/21

        • I just asked the support team and they only mentioned 30 days, not the 13th of July. I'm planning to do the same as Branners.

"Activating within 30 days will ensure that you do not miss out on any advertised benefits and inclusions that you have paid for as a part of your service. If you attempt to activate outside of this time frame, this may lead to issues with activation and/or the plan activating with credit that may not align with what you had purchased."

    • You do not need to activate it within 30 days.. The sim card will remain active for 2 years.. You have already paid $119 and availed the promotion offer..So does it really matter when the sim card is activated? Correct me if I am wrong

      • Would also like to know how they can invalidate these if one were to activate after the prescribed timeframe/deadline.

  • +10

Sh*t last time bought for $120.

    • +32

oh no, sorry for your loss

  • Optus offering $150 for 120GB annual currently.
Theoretically Coles should offer same 4G coverage but I've read a lot of reviews suggesting otherwise.

    • +4

Coverage for 4G will be the same BUT…… When making a call with Coles, the call will drop back to 3G whereas with Optus it will be delivered on 4G.

I have noticed that Optus 4G coverage is better than 3G so, I would assume for some people the "quality" will not be the same.

For example, I am with Amaysim. I get 3/5 bars on 4G but when I make it receive a call, it drops down to 3G and I get 1/5 bars. The calls are bad.

You also don't get wifi call and as mentioned above, VOLTE.

I believe Spintel have wifi call and VOLTE that are an Optus reseller…and are the only ones to have it.

      Hope this helps.

      • Thanks for clarification.
I stuck with optus as can't risk lower/poorer coverage.
Worth it for an extra $60 (for existing customers the deal is $180).
I think the $150 direct optus deal is the way to go.

      • +4

Moose mobile(Optus Network) offer VOLTE and VOWifi .works great on my oneplus phone.

        • Yup. Moose on Optus and Boost on Telstra are the only MVNO providing VoLTE at the moment. However, its dependent on your device firmware, so unless the operator "supports" the firmware, you wont get VoLTE. Been on Boost since 2+ years on my Redmi Note 5 Pro but dont get VoLTE at all. Telstra 3G Network is good (for calls), but they might repurpose the 3G Bands soon.

      • Are you sure the Optus $150 deal includes volte?

        • +1

          Optus Prepaid Does not

  • +1

Is there any long expiry offering 5G yet ?

    • looking for the same, would love to know!

    • Do any MVNOs support 5G yet?

I thought Telstra and Optus were keeping the 5G spectrum to themselves, so far.

      • +1

        Spintel resell Optus 5G

    • @gristy: I picked up a vodafone prepaid $10 sim from coles last week for $4 and activated it on the long expiry plan. Can confirm that I get 5G. I am just leaving the sim in my alternate number, will be looking for a longer expiry cheaper deal. I was on the Aldi $5 365 day plan, but just ran out. I have one more of those sims from last year and will give that a go when this one runs out 😃

    • +1

Hi Gristy, Vodafone support 5G on prepaid.

  • +1

Just be cautious around Optus network. I'll probably use it if I am in a really good area. If you are living a bit far off then avoid this.
Would be great if somebody can share a coverage map of Optus.
I personally prefer Boost cause it doesnt drop out much while I am travelling , but it is double the price

    • I try calling people on the Optus network and it tells me that the area in calling is congested, (Suburbs in Melbourne) try later, heck I tried to call my friend on telstra from telstra and optus was telling me there where issues… no idea why as neither of us are on optus.

    • -3
  • I reckon porting from Boost doesn't take long?

    • +2

Literally took 1 minute. Not even exaggerating!

    • I did Boost to Optus last weekend. 10mins I had calls. Theb 15mins after had 4G.

  • +1

Wasnt this $99 the other day?

    • 60gb vs 120gb for this

    • For 60 GBs worth of data

    • +1

If you are sticking to being loyal for Coles mobile then and have less data usage requirement for for the $99 one.

Plus any unused data gets rolled over to next year plan( if recharged before expiry)

    • I bought the $99 SIM last week and have not opened it yet. Does anyone know if Coles will be able to exchange it for this one? Thanks!

      • I don't see why not, if you bought in store it might be easier.

        • No they don’t. They referred me to Optus. This is a Coles store in Brisbane

          • @min2: What did Optus say? It's it possible to select the $120 plan while activating the sim and pay extra? I'll be porting from boost so will try it out.

      • +1

none of the supermarkets refund on sim cards or credit, but they might if it is their own brand? Not sure. Ring a store and find out, but don't get your hopes up.

        • That's correct. I did visit the Coles store I bought from yesterday and they didn't exchange. Reason : no exchange on gift cards and Sim cards.

  • What's coverage like on this? Considering swapping from boost when mine expires next year.

    • +1

      I'm in metro Adelaide,

I bloody hate using this Coles mobile on a dual Sim phone (whenever I call with Sim 1 aka Coles Mobile I cannot use data from Sim 2 aka Vodafone/Optus/any other Sim)

May be this has to do with VOLte or something.

BOOST IS WAY better than this, with VOLTe I think. But this will get the job of basic calls, data and messaging done

      • Damn that's a shame, Boost VoLTE doesn't work on my phone (poco X3).

Heard Coles/Optus VoLTE works on it though so was thinking about swapping after expiry.

        Thanks for the comment!

        • It works fine on single Sim phone
          or
using same Sim (Sim 1 only or Sim 2 only) for both data and call

          • @USER DC: Oh I see, my phone is dual sim but I never make use of it so should be okay.

        • Try disabling the phone volte/vowifi support check, it might work then. There's a bunch of stars, hashes and numbers you've got to enter and dial.

Also sometimes if you were previously activated for those services on another provider, it can still work.

For example, I went boost to Vodafone prepaid and it worked, (not supposed to) and then back to boost.

          • @Oofy Doofy: Yeah I've done that. Did all the necessary steps but Boost/Telstra volte/vowifi doesn't work for this phone for some reason.

I've heard Optus works though so might swap over next time.

        • It does work, see tutorials on YouTube for enabling VOLTE

          • @stephendt: Yeah I've seen the tutorials and done all the steps.

The phone just doesn't work with boost/telstra volte/vowifi.

      • Could it be that your dual Sim phone is dual standby? (when one is active you can't use the other).

Even if the Coles Mobile had VoLTE, you'd be only able to use the Coles Sim to browse when making calls

So if you were using the Boost Sim to make calls and Coles Sim to browse the internet you'd have the same issue.

        • No I don't think so the thing is that for me to be able to call with Sim 1 and use data for Sim 2 I need Sim 1 to be VOLTe otherwise no data until call is finished

Was using Redmi note 9t 5g and network doesn't say VOLTe unlike Vodafone which does if that makes it any difference

  • Might be good for my kid's phones. Does anyone know if data just cuts out after the 120Gb is used? or Throttled?

    • -1

My guess is it gets cut.

  • God I literally got a $120 catch plan 10 days ago, yet to activate lol

  • I made the mistake.

I bought this for my wife and switched her over from the Belong's long expired $10 plan.

I thought even if the reception was terrible, I could use Wifi Calling. Guess what, Coles Mobile doesnt support wifi calling although Optus does, I thought being an MVNO, they would have the same level of features.

I hardly have a single bar of coverage indoors, I logged a case and this i what i received.

"After an investigation by our Level 2 Technical Support - we regret to inform you that your residence has low indoor coverage there, 3G or 4G.

There are also upgrades to your nearest mobile tower. While we’re working on it, there may be some service interruptions but we’ll try to keep this to a minimum. Thanks for being patient with us.This is scheduled to be resolved by 16/06/2021"

Nearest mobile is still way too far from where I am and there has been 0 change in call quality after their supposed upgrades. We had decent coverage with Belong being Telstra MVNO. Im wondering if I could get any refunds as its only been a week since I ported over.

    • +1

Talk to them they might be nice and refund you.

Definitely don't assume MVNO get the same features, amaysim don't even have voicemail and call conferencing if I remember correctly!

      • +1

Yes, amaysim doesnt have call conferencing. Its a bummer in these times. I think all other operators support call conferencing.

      • Amaysim does have voicemail but I had many issues activating it.

  • +2

    Who would need a $99/month plan ?

    • Indeed. These sort of plans make buying your phone outright much cheaper!

  • Coles sim network coverage is BS, I don't recommend it, I've mine still 6 months to go, can't wait to change to another provider.
    Boost and Kogan are better.

  • Can I use my existing Telstra number if I move to Coles mobile?

    • Is that what porting means? Switching providers but keep you existing number

      • +1

I spoke to Coles mobile customer care. Was advised that I can keep my existing number. Has to be done at the time of activation

  • Is this eligible for 2,000 BONUS POINTS when you spend $50 in one shop at Coles?

    • I'd like to know this as well

    • Most likely yes.
I had purchased the Boost $150 recharge from Coles and had the 2000 Bonus Points offer on $50 spend. I got them. However, not very sure specifically for Coles Mobile, given that it is their own product (better to check T&Cs).

Btw, Woolies excludes Mobile Recharge (any operator) as qualifying for Bonus Points (if on offer on your Rewards card)

      • Thanks.

        Silence on T&C. That's why I ask.

        • It should be eligible.I remember meeting my required spend for the week when i purchased a discounted Boost recharge voucher.

    • Yes. When this SIM was on for $120 last month I used it and some small grocery purchases to hit both a 4000 point and a 2000 point offer with the one purchase.

    • Yes

    • how do I get this 2000 bonus points?

  • +3

I would prefer wws $150 100G 12months. 10% off one shop at wws every month

    • Not to mention $20 cashback via Shopback.

      • Or $20 cashback via Cashrewards

  • +2

Still waiting for a Boost offer.. miss the volte and vowifi.
    And FYI
‘Activating within 30 days will ensure that you do not miss out on any advertised benefits and inclusions that you have paid for as a part of your service. If you attempt to activate outside of this time frame, this may lead to issues with activation and/or the plan activating with credit that may not align with what you had purchased.’

  • coles mobile just rubbish with the fake optus network
    never gonna buy it again

  • Is it any worse than catch connect? I have to say I have no issues with catch across Adelaide..

    • ATM I have my phone on Catch Connect and my wife is on Coles mobile. No difference in reception, no dropped or missed calls that we know of. We can see the 4G tower from an upstairs window so reception is very good, but we can't really pick a difference between the services

      • Cheers. Contrary to general comments, I have a Boost service and Catch. I find that at Adelaide Airport and around the western suburbs of Adelaide, I've found Catch to obtain a better signal strength on average than Boost. Both phones are Galaxy S10s… Go figure… Granted, Catch has no VoLTE or VoWIFI but, meh, it's a phone service that's cheap and works for me…

  • Can you buy these with coles gift cards in store?

  • Thanks for the feedback on Coles mobile reception everyone, I'll hold on and wait for a Boost offer.

  • Hey guys - how do I get this as an existing customer? Do I need to port out to a diff provider, buy a new coles sim and port back in again? And can I port back in within a matter of days of porting out and still get the offer?

  • +2

Has anyone here had any issues after porting into Coles mobile. I ported from Boost to Coles and can't receive calls. Outbound works though. Customer support said there's an outage in your area, but don't understand how am I able to make outbound calls then. Asked for a refund and they said they can't until they investigate the issue. Overall not a good experience to start with. Boost was a lot better in terms of customer service too.

    • check your handset. Yours might not support all frequencies required by Optus network

  • +1

I thought I'd give it a try despite all the negative reviews on coverage. I ported my dad's sim over from TPG and it took a couple of hours on a Sunday. Tested it in two locations against my Boost sim card and it actually got faster download speeds than my boost.

    • Depends on the location. In my home a Boost service gives 150 Mbps in the speed test and Optus gives 15 Mbps

  • Can you get $5 Optus Sport with this?

  • Is this available for purchase in store also or online only ?

  • How long does it take to port from Optus ?

  • Great deal

  • -1

My Boost mobile expires in Sep. Does anyone know if I can buy it before 13th July and activates it in Sep?

    • +1

Yes you can in fact I activated mine like 3 months after buying the sim, worked out fine.
(But only problem is that if Coles/optus were to change some sort of offer on this deal like e.g. make 120 GB plan into a 100 GB plan or 60 GB into a 50 GB plan or like addition or removal of a certain Country from International calling or similar and you bought the sim outside of the last 30 days you may not get the exact offer you bought like some changes mentioned above, and you would instead get the Newer (often shi*tier) offer)

      • Thanks

  • Anyone know if payment can be done via Coles egift card?

    • +1

Yes it can. Ive purchased using discounted gift cards

      • Self check out does not allow split payment with egift card. So ended up paying via credit card.

  • If you have Coles mobile please comment
    Here if slow internet cheers
