        big OOF

      • +3

Quick! Sell before everyone else notices these price drops.

      • +1

Jeez, I coulda sold you my 1080Ti :)

        • +1

          what model 1080ti?

          • @domomunk: Let me check, we used them in our DaVinci resolve editing machines for the last couple of years, so they haven't been pushed much. I think they were Galax or something like that. Still have the boxes in storage. We finally got our hands on some 3090s at retail pricing, so the 1080Ti cards have all been retired.

    • 1650 Super for $179 in Dec/Jan ;) patience is a virtue

      • +2

I remembering buying a brand new 1650 super for $230~ for a customer. Crazy times

  • what is the rrp?

    • +6

      $400-500 I believe

    • +5

      $529

      • +5

Officially $529 (but they picked that RRP in the middle of the shortage, so it's likely still higher than it would otherwise have been).

  • +20

is this a sign things are slowly coming down?

    • +8

Yes, there are number including increased supply, lower crypto prices, potential second hand units coming from ex-cryptofarms in China.

  • +23

Good price considering today's market. Just as a reference, this was the price 4 months ago

    • +3

      Lol 6 neg votes

    • +2

and + 2 months on that 4 months lol https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/591421

      • +1

i remember when you couldn't give them away: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/514997

        • lol those 470s/570s still great cards esp if you got them for $100 back then

          • @Doomedgrind: i replaced my 750ti with one of these, should have got more lol

and people are afraid mining cards will die, they're still mining and making bank lol

            • +1

@abctoz: yep, if you clean them often and treat them well should last 5-10 years. hell i've still got a gtx 560 im using in a system and it still plays a lot of games on low 1080p lol

I wonder how the angry GPU guy feels about this deal?

    • +3

Hahaha I was wondering the same. From now on the first instinct and thought when reading about a new GPU deal is to think of how "The Angry GPU Guy" feels.

Would love his thoughts on the matter, maybe a weekly column on the front page where he can give us his GPU deal thoughts.

    • +1

      Daveob?

  • I got a 1650 d6 low profile for $310 a few days ago. Starting to come down I think.

    • Which store was it?

      • +1

Amazon UK. Was only 2 in stock when I bought one so didn't get to post it here.

        • Sweet. Thanks. Will keep an eye on the UK site.

  • +1

Good to see business offloading cards quickly before the monster wave of mining cards swamping the market

    • Waiting for those truckload of second-hand mining cards to be offload for like $50 for a RTX 3060…

      • Hmmm…. $50 for a currently working rtx 3060 mining card, might be just what I need to wait out the shortage … Ha ha ha ha.

    • Not going to happen. Miners know that the next 'bitcoin' is just around the corner. Better the hold on to cards than be caught short.

      • I’ve been of the same opinion they’d hold the cards for that scenario rather than flog them off

  • Not a favourite among miners.. most likely why it's available at this price.

    • +1

      Ya LHR.

  • +14

    Hoooooolldddd

    • +9

diamond hands baby DIAMOND hands, 1070 don't fail me now…

      • +4

I'm also using a 1070. I honestly don't know what I would do if it failed on me now…

        • +2

Buy a laptop like I did. Hate the iGPU. Buy an egpu, then go back to your 6 year old 970 and wonder to yourself what the hell happened.

        • I'd do what I'm doing currently - Play Geforce now on the integrated graphics…
          https://www.nvidia.com/en-au/geforce-now/

          • @Scrobo: Scrobo, do you still get all the bells and whistles of a dedicated graphics cards on your monitor when playing games with Geforce Now?

    • What does hold mean?

      • +2

That means do not sell your crypto.

        • +8

          HODL!! get it right lol

        • Lol

      • +11

In all seriousness, in this case, it means GPU prices have just started falling rapidly (FINALLY!!!) so don't give in, hold on a bit longer until it stabilises at a more sensible low price.

If it goes back to RRP, that's officially $529 AUD (and that RRP was chosen when prices were already inflated, so even the RRP is probably higher than it would have been without the crazy shortage).

(How will you feel if you buy now and it costs half this in 3-6 months? That should inform your decision).

        • Buttttt what if you don't buy now and it costs double this in 3-6 months? 😬

          • +2

@DKZ370: thennn still don't buy? like we're only talking games here. just use a GT 1030 on low settings

        • +1

Yep, around $500 is my trigger price. Still using my GTX970 for now… :)

    • +9

      What's an exit strategy?
Good deal this GPU. My wife's boyfriend just purchased one now for me.

      • Wife or ex-wife?

        • +3

          Wife.

          • +1

@seamonkey: Then you should sleep with him. Such a great guy buying an overpriced graphics card for you at the moment.

            • +1

@edfoo: He just sent me this so I'm rally not sure what to do now..https://redd.it/o6by7g

    • +1

I heard LOTR BGM while reading it.

  • Is this lhr v1 or v2?

  • If this price were for a 3070 or buy

  • LHR version?

    • +1

      I believe it's not.
LHR version has a H at the end. Don't buy this if for Gaming or daily work.
LHR version should bring this price further down.

      • why is LHR bad for gaming and work?

      • +1

its a 3060 there is no LHR designation, they are all gimped.

        • +1

but some work with the hacked drivers and some dont (eg LHR rerelease)

          • @macmanluke: Non LHR skus are discontinued, they’re apparently putting them all under the non LHR model number I’ve heard now, very deceptive

  • +2

Buy your GPU on 28 Degrees and sleep easy

No need to bottom feed on mad max salvages.

    • +1

dont you need the price protection insurance which is not offered anymore?

    • Yeah but need to be grandfathered to the price insurance :(

  • +3

One day I'll hopefully get a 3070 for this price. I'm happy to wait another year.

    • +1

With the LHR cards coming out, and eth going pos, I'm hoping we see a good drop before the end of the year!

  • +2

Just keep in mind the 3060 is quite a bit far from the 3060 Ti and 3070 in performance. It's actually even a bit slower than a 2070 Super. Still an okay price though.

  • +7

Smells like the bottom is about to fall out of the GPU market bubble - I think you'd be absolutely mad to pick up this card at this price right now, just begging for a double helping of buyers remorse.

  • +2

Can't stomach buying a graphics card for this much when you can just buy a console with similar performance.

  • +2

Can't stomach buying a graphics card for this much when you can just buy a console with similar performance for 100 less.

    • +6

How many stomach's do you have?

    • +1

Yeah but a gpu can do way more than just game. If you could still run linux on the playstation id snap one up instantly

  • +1

This is basically the same speed as my 5700 I got almost 2 years ago for half that price. Sigh.

  • is this better than this?
GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2060 OC GG Graphics Card, 2X Windforce Fans, 6GB 192-bit GDDR6, Gv-N2060OC-6GD REV2.0 Video Card

    anybody know?

      • +2

Userbenchmark should not be used to compare anything at all. It is known to not be accurate, and how can you rank GPUs and CPUs when there are so many factors in play?

        • +1

do you have any other resources to compare gfx cards? I normally use that as it comes up but its weird with some newer cards, like it shows the 3060 is better then the 3060ti and stuff so any suggestions would be good, I am trying to decide if I should get a RX6800 XT or a 3070-80, like 16GB sounds very good for the price and they seem to preform well but I have never bought AMD and last gen I heard they were a pain with drivers.

    • +2

Why does he get neg? Isn't it true his 2080 Super is faster than this 3060?

  • +6

Is it just me or I absolutely find the 3060 to be an absolute waste of money? It has the performance of a 2060 Super or 2070 max. If you didn't care about buying used, you could get an RTX 2080 super or 2080 used on the market for about 850-900 even these days and it would smash it out of the water. Or if not getting a good deal on a 6700XT would also destroy the 3060 except in heavy ray tracing.

  • Good price compare with one or two months ago, remember on Feb 3070 still under 1k preorder, but now 1.5-1.8k, but, may be 3060ti better or wait all those second hand GPU coming, 8GB GPU might down to $200-400 mark

  • +2

Tbh who is even buying this gimped card for 800 bucks? 6700xt can be had for around $1000 (inflated still) and belts this thing out of the park.

  • Only about double what it should be on sale… gpu prices these days just stupid.

  • I like that it’s not totally ridiculous pricing. Hopefully it will come down to normal rrp next later in the year.

  • +1

Sucked in miners, damn you all to Satan's playground!

    • +1

Hope the value of crypto currency drops to virtually worthless so they all will become bankrupt. Muahaha.

      • Blockchain is the future, the current implementation is not.

  • +1

Lol I just looked up when I bought my RTX 3060 Ti Eagle OC 8GB last December for $799. It's now selling for $1299-1399.
    What a joke.

  • +1

Yes Beware the 3060 is a heavily GIMPED card nvidia anti consumer practice at its finest.
