Always the same arguments, fights. Can the mods bother intervening at some point perhaps and clarify whether this is a deal or not? How hard a clarification could be determine?

  • +2

    I enjoyed the movie.

It's let down by corny moments and fan service where it's not needed, and there are plenty of macguffins and plot holes, but it's a big dumb sci-fi blockbuster and if you're up for one of those, it'll entertain you. The part I liked most was the relationship between the two family members in the future. Yvonne Strahovski (who is Australian) is an awesome actor and I thought she was the best part of the movie as the colonel/scientist.

  • +6

Was the plot generic and acting average? yes. But this was a very high budget flick and it was entertaining. Definitely not a straight to dvd- type movie. Still not sure why people get disappointed when watching Transformers/michael bay/aliens/predator stuff. Im not going in to these movies expecting a scorsese daniel day lewis masterpiece. I want to see big robots. i want to see lasers. i want to see aliens. I set the bar and it was met and I was entertained.

    • You're not allowed to be reasonable amongst all the negativity here, go on, get!

  • They got the Gemini Man on Netflix. Someone quickly post it as a deal.

    • -1

      That movie is CGI trash…

  • Just watched it. Had my hopes it hoping it would be somewhat similar to Edge of Tomorrow but although all the themes were there, it was nowhere near as good.

  • +1

    Straight up advertisement

      • Oh yeah? Coca cola doesn't need either yet they are probably one of the companies in the world who spends the most money for the advertisements, meaning that they do need advertising.

  • +1

Finished the movie wasn't bad, getting a brand new blockbuster to view as part of my Amazon prime sub well worth it, sure it's not a master piece but most stuff at the cinema in recent years has been worse, I enjoyed the sci fi aspects of it, what else you guys going to do on a Friday evening in lockdowns?

    • +1

what else you guys going to do on a Friday evening in lockdowns?

Rant and dribble one OzB apparently…

  • +1

Why is no one talking about the sequel? Come on, man, the Whitespikes were just cargo. Who were the “people” in the cockpit? Surely there’s another part to this, can’t wait!

    • The concept was ripped straight off aliens so I guess we could see 6 or so movies then.

  • The movie wasnt that bad. its one time watchable. I am sure if they released it in cinemas it wouldnt have made money which is why Paramount sold it to Amazon. They did keep all movies which would sell in theatres and their own service and dumped others to streaming services

    • Paramount has sold off a few films due to the covid, without remorse was also sold off to amazon , wasn't a fantastic movie but hey was something new coming out, our choices for new movies have been pretty small for the past year.

Wonder woman 84 was one overhyped pile of garbage movie.

  • I thought it was pretty good.

Don't know what people expected, but I thought the action was pretty exciting, monster design was awesome.

Weak character moments and quite a lot of made up science nonsense

  • Thx for the info OP, heading to Prime now.

To everyone who is upvoting: You’re just taking the piss, aren’t you ?

    • -1

I upvoted because this was a cinema-worthy movie that I didn't have to go to the cinema for, and I already had prime.

    • +2

      @51ngh

      Umm… You upvoted.

  • +2

    There is no deal here…

  • +2

Not a Bargain. I don’t come to this site to know about TV releases.

  • +1

    No deal here.

  • Please everyone, watch “In the Name of the King” with Jason Statham. Greatest movie of all time!…..

    🤪😝

  • +1

This is not a deal or a bargain, why post this spackbace?

    • +1

      why post this spackbace?

Their account got hacked by TA…

Reading all the reviews, I'm quite surprised to see so many trash talking the movie. I saw it last night. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a Christopher Nolan production, but it ain't total crap either. It's definitely far more watchable than some of the $hite streaming companies have been pumping out this past year.

And what's with the negativity towards Chris Pratt? Can't help wondering if the negative sentiments towards him are fuelled by other factors. He is just a regular dude who was selling coupons for a living before his big break in movies. If Ozbargainers wanna find a celebrity to have a beef with, maybe it should obscenely rich actors like George Clooney or Ryan Reynolds who reaped hundreds of millions selling glorified booze.

    Just my opinion…

    • +2

I tried to watch it and fell asleep .
I'll try again when I need to snooze .

    • Christopher Nolan production? Don't get me started on Tenet🤬

  • +2

This movie was dead set awful. Can't believe it was directed by the guy who did the awesome Lego Batman movie

  • +1

Wow, with great expectations, i was very disappointed. Anyway, next!

  • +6

Terrible film, don't waste your time. A shame because the special effects are really good.
Very few films made for streaming services have been good unfortunately. They can put out some stellar series though.

  • Streaming services need to stick to TV shows.

  • I swear Tom Cruise was in a similar sounding movie

  • -2

This film is proof of the trailer magic they can do to make it look like a great must watch film vs reality lol .

  • +2

Watched it yesterday, it’s like world war z crossed with edge of tomorrow but not as intense and not as good character development respectively. Some scenes are just comical, made me want to watch galaxy again lol.

Having said that still enough there to wanna see it to the end. Better than any of those end of world movies from the rock.

    • Watched it yesterday too. That is a good summarization really. I've seen a lot worse and more cringe worthy cheese movies that rated the same or even higher simply because they are comic related or woke approved.

  • +3

Do not try and bend the deal. That's impossible. Instead, only realize the truth… there is no deal.

  • +2

Quality Control is becoming a real issue on OzBargain recently.

The number of 'ads' are increasing exponentially..

  • +1

And … to add insult to injury, the IMDB rating quoted in the post is now out of date …

  • +2

Watched it last night. A decent scifi action movie to zone out too, i've seen a lot worse. It's no master piece by any stretch but better than most of the crap on Netflix.

  • Maybe we need some sort of category for deals that are linked to subscription services, seeing as people are so outraged by posts relating to Prime/Game Pass but eBay Plus seems to get a free pass.

  • +1

Watched it last night. Very stupid movie TBH.

  • Do you even lift bro?

  • -2

Chris Pratt is one horrible actor, they should've gone with someone else.

  • -1

Not a bargain, and I don't really want my OzBargain feed to become new release movies on streaming platforms

  • What a hoot. A classic ‘only Americans can save the world’ movie, all square jaws and military bravery and crap.
Massive plot hole in the premise, and the third act is boy’s own hero stuff on steroids.
But I'd watch most things with JK Simmons in it, and the best line of the fillum is the description of his character.
I made it to the end, which is more than I can say for Tenet. Tried twice, furthest I got into it was 30 mins.

  • No one had a problem when Borat was posted here last year LOL!

Y'all upvoted that to near 1k upvotes!

  • Is this site slowly becoming oztv.com.au? Surely this cant be a deal if you need a full price subscription to access?

Can we just list every tv and movies release as a bargain now?

  • Got this movie for a pretty good deal at 1337x 🤷‍♂️

  • Serious?

Yeah way to go increasing your post count…

  • +2

Movie was good +1 for sure

    Movie was pretty good

  • +2

Oh that movie was rubbish. Chris Pratt delivered a performance with the emotional depth of a puddle.

    • Just like every other movie he has done lol

  • Good movies… I agreed with reviews that this should be seen on the big screen cinema.
This is a great change to test out those big screen TVs we been hunting for on OB, and the soundbar/Amp+Speakers combo. I switched to my Sony xm3 halfway through the movie… the Clicking sounds … freaky.

    • the clicking sounds are derivative, but a reasonable piece of popcorn, with a lot of dumb humour.

      • i am talking a out the Whitespikes clicking …

  • Seen the trailer at the cinemas, now included with amazon, fantastic!

  • +1

not a deal and watching this was waste of time

  • The publisher of this "deal" has stated that IMDB rating is 7.1. I've just checked it, and it's down to 6.9. I guess it's OzBargain-ers are giving bad reviews and dragging down the rating 😉

    • It's just that more real people have seen it.

      45/100 on Metacritic
      53/100 on RottenTomatoes

      • 80% on RottenTomatoes - Audience Score which way matters more than Critic Score.

        • Nah.
Random accounts pumping a score higher than any real reviews.

    OzAdvertising

  • where can i get a cheap ipad

  • Disposable popcorn movie. Dumbed down sci-fi war movie. 2 stars out of 5.

  • i love the bit where the black dude is saying “shit shit shit shit shit shit” as he’s shooting…. good movie, enjoyed. 8/10.

  • +2

I wanted to see a mostly mindless action movie with sci-fi elements. This hit the spot and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
If you were expecting some Christopher Nolan type movie then you will be disappointed.

I felt like the movie generally knew what it was and wasn't trying to be pretentious.

    • i enjoyed it too good film

  • typical #ozsubscription post. Not sure how this differe the subs thread about space jam

  • Chris Pratt has good looks and charm, but the acting, emotional range of like 3 faces he pulls! The real STAR of this movie was the CGI for the monsters and the interaction with fighting them, particularly the queen! That was above and beyond what I've been used too up until now. Plot was ok but the first 1/3 at the start was slow as treacle after the nice intro. But once he drops into the pool, 30 years in the future it was good action movie.

If you dont have AMAZON your a dill as its CHEAP and you get PRIME TV, MUSIC, 5gb Photo backup as well as eBooks AND PRIME DELIVERY… Shits over eBAY+

  • The only thing good about this movie, is the originality of the aliens. Other than that, it's way too long winded.

  • thanks OP. enjoyed the movie.

  • My take on the subscriptions is to look at the positive to negative ratio of the votes vs other deals . Obviously negs are much rarer .
Just looking at it having 300 + positive votes vs 49 negs is a false positive hehe .
Really is pollution clogging my feed .

  • I like Chris pratt and say what you want about his acting, but IMO he was doing the best with what he was given eg. Watch the first father/son scene with him and JK Simmons (who is an excellent oscar-winning actor)… the scene drags through cringy mire it's unbearable…

The aliens for some reason can't be shown to the soldiers before they're deployed which is completely dumb.. and you don't see them until like 20-30 mins in the movie and when you do it's like a horror film.. no complaints but they're Doom-teir scary lol warning if you're watching with a weak stomached partner

  • Not a bad movie! Imagine paying these on theatres. I reckon some of the reviews online are anti-streaming ppl

  • Just another tv show being released, do we get Oz advertising on all new tv shows now?

    • +1

Farmer wants a wife just started last night. I should have posted that as a deal. hehehe

  • It is not a deal if you have to pay for a subscription.

  • Gotto watch Screen Rant's take on this movie, and a whole bunch of others, hilarious!

    https://youtu.be/gzdm_YWwEbA

I watched the film, it's objectively terrible. Made for 14yr old boys with no brains. Don't get me wrong, I like action movies (almost all genres) but just because this are moving on the screen and people are talking doesn't make it "entertaining".

These films are cash grab, quick post production edits that lower the perceived bar that film makers think they can get away with.

Movies without "scratch your head plot holes" are hard to come by these days. They used to care about hiding plot holes as best they could, sure they happen, but now they don't even care….

This isn't a deal/bargain/ or special offer. Get it off.

I imagine, maybe clinically, that OzBargain gets paid for these posts?

Why do I need to go into my settings to change what should be posted.

    Terrible movie, even worse deal

    • I think auto-correct has struck again, cynically speaking.

      • +1

        Ah to* true

    • I imagine, maybe clinically, that OzBargain gets paid for these posts?

No, OzBargain doesn't get paid to put any posts up. We are an independent site and don't appreciate conspiracy theories.

  • It took me 3 attempts to finish it and I finally got there 😳

At one point I was expecting Bishop to appear in a space ship and save Ripley 😬

  • +1

enjoyable movie. Too many critics these days can't even enjoy a simple movie.

  • It's pretty fun if you watch it like it's a 2 hour video game cutscene with hyperrealistic graphics. Especially the final boss.

  • please no ads. this is not a deal
