Original Coupon Deal

This is basically a copy of this deal except that you could use the coupon to make it sweeter, and even sweeter with Latitude Pay for those not used it yet.

EDIT: I found the deal myself but have just checked the original deal again and seen fookos's comment about the deal at TGG as well as other major retailers.

  • I want to get 2, for the Latitude Pay discount, it says single use only, is it possible for me to buy them separately for the discount to apply twice?

    • +2

As you said it’s single use.

Buying it twice is not single use

  • can you buy discounted gift cards for online use at tgg anywhere? shopback says theirs is for in-store use only.

  • How does this compare to a regular 240v smoke alarm?

    • +1

Very well… i have a battery version and its great, the phone alerts work well, its gives a warning before setting off the alarm, it gives verbal warning, the adjustable brightness, motion sensor escape light is great, plus its not just a smoke alarm as they also do carbon monoxide. It self tests and many other good things..

    • unique feature would be the voice control smart home stuff.

it does carbon monoxide and can be linked to alarm on all units when one unit detects smoke, not unique but usefully upgrades over a basic cheapy

      • Basic cheapies have interlink cable and due to this if there is smoke detected in place then all sensors go off at the same time.

Though nest protect smoke alarm doesn't have the 3rd interlink cable, they connect with each other wirelessly. I have had a couple installed at the beginning of the year and like the auto test and email update feature (so I know its working) and night light is brilliant. I recommend this product.

        • if they have interlink they're more than basic

  • Are these ok to use in Queensland yet. They weren't under the new legislation as they didn't meet some state specific requirement.

    • The hardwire version is fine

    • But the Nest Protect alarms are interconnected aren't they? If one triggers they all trigger wirelessly without needing wifi as well (diff protocol or frequency for interconnect). Presume this meets the Qld standard?

      • +1

Battery is removable. QLD needs non-removable after 2027 or whatever (if you owner-occupy).

        • Oh but safety wise it's good enough

    • I think the issue may be that these don't have double insulated wiring… but happy to be proved wrong.

  • Can shopback super swap cards be used with The Good Guys online?

  • Great price, thanks OP

  • It says you can only buy the wired in store? Wtf?
How can you use the discount code if its only in store? You can't buy it on the website

    • Try it on a desktop or laptop, turned out it’s a mobile website issue to me.

      • same issue on desktop.

edit:… it worked when i went in incognito mode and i was able to add to cart and use latitude which applied the $15 discount….. stupid website.

just in time, building an extension and ruffings will be started very soon.

  • Thanks, I needed one more of these & also have a $20 concierge credit to use up this week :)

  • I bought two, I already have one, I think they are an awesome device.

  • there isn't much stock in melbourne so no C&C. have to pay for delivery

  • +1

I got 4 of these from the last "sale" they had. Had to get them delivered as no local stock, but be warned that the dating on them is awful. I got units that are over 3 years old which means they will expire in 6-7 years. Good guys are less than willing to resolve this and trying to blame google.

    • Oh crap. I bought two from Bunnings dated Oct 2020 and thought that was bad. I hope the 3 I bought from TGG are newish.

      • where do you see the date on these?

        • +1

Unfortunately you can not see the date until you open the box and look on the underside of the actual smoke alarm.

        • +2

You can tell by checking the S/N on the bottom of the box - meaning you'll still need to see the box first.
          XXXXXXXX4120XXXX = manufactured on 41st week of 2020.

          • @rba: Thanks, mine says 4120. Could be worse I guess.

          • @rba: I just bought 2 from tgg … both are 4120…. they must have got a massive shipment for this month or something

And the sn on the box matches what's on the unit.

    • +1

mine just arrived and its DEC 2017 for both units… That is shocking!

  • thanks OP. got a couple

  • Does anyone know if this is the same as the Gen2 Version that is visible on the Google Store or the Gen1 Version? Also, are there any issues with installing these in Victoria?

  • +1

Thanks for the acknowledgement @GreenRomeo - would have posted the deal myself overnight, but through I should get some sleep after completing my order a tad after 2am!

  • Thanks op. We've installed 4 over the years and will add 1 more.

  • For everyone asking; found this from an SMH article a few years ago:

The rear of the Nest Protect: while the smoke alarm is double-insulated to reduce the risk of shock, the supplied power cable is not. This means to meet Australian safety standards the Nest should be installed with a junction box in the ceiling (not included in the box) which covers the supplied power cable – including where it connects to the mains power and to the Nest. You should also turn off the power at the switchboard before removing the Nest from the ceiling to replace the batteries.

  • Went through latitude and couldn't see the reduced amount vs the normal checkout. Have put in the coupon code TODAY. Did I need to do something with latitude

    • No the discount is automatic when it goes to latitude…

  • Just bought 3 from goodguys in WA. Opened one and low and behold date inside is dec 2017. Almost 4yrs gone of the 10yrs for the sensor. Absolute joke. Probably also the old gen 1 as well. Refund time

    • Oh man I'm now seriously having buyers remorse. I hope the warehouse has fresh stock

  • This would work out to be $12.90/year and with the ones I just received were made in 2018 I lost $38.70 from its value…. very deceiving sale.
    Returned them.

  • Received mine today. Looking at the serial number for each, one is manufactured in Oct 2019 and the other one is manufactured in Oct 2020. Going to see if I can exchange them with newer stock, especially the one manufactured in Oct 2019.

    • From which warehouse? Geelong Victoria?

      • Delivery was stated to be from TGG Chadstone.

        • Oh right. Oh man I'm thinking Chadstone has fresher stock than Geelong πŸ˜”. Fingers crossed

    • Mine are week 42, 42 and 43 2019 πŸ˜”

Will wait till lockdown ends and see if I can do an in-store replacement for newer stock

      • Good guys call centre advised I have to contact the dispatch store directly to arrange replacement or refund. Will try tomorrow

  • Received mine and they were manufactured January 2018. Getting in touch with GoodGuys online is pretty hard (guess recent COVID outbreaks have sent things into meltdown). Store that dispatched them suggested I try and contact Google πŸ€” to get it resolved.

  • As an update. Mine was manufactured in 2017. - contacted google, and they said take it back to the store for replacement. Google can't help. Will have to contact TGG.

    • Good guys Geelong said to return to any store once lockdown ends

      • Call centre also advised me to return to any TGG store. I mistakenly put an order for the battery version initially which I immediately called to cancel, but they were still sent out anyway -_-

        • I wouldn't have minded a pro-rated refund

          • @10101010101: Have you returned already? I am thinking of doing the same. I would have kept it, if they offered some refund for years that have lapsed.

            • @Pricebeat: Not yet. Melbourne still in lockdown. I'm in no rush anyway. Have fitted the two I bought from Bunnings dated October 2020 for now

  • Exchanged mine a couple of days ago. Strangely enough the store I went to did not have them on the shelf, even though the website showed that there's stock for that particular store and I had to ask a staff member for the items.

Replacement items are both manufactured in December 2020,so around 7 months old. Happy enough with that.

    • Which state/store? My local doesn't have stock. Bunnings also sold out

      • This was TGG Chadstone. Closest store to Geelong with stock at the moment seems to be TGG Hoppers Crossing.

        • Cool most store showing stock apart from my local in Nunawading
