  • Logged in just to say thanks even tho my appointment in October. Probably will miss out, but not sure if people know that it is not the only source of news.

    • +3

No reason for you to miss out! This is a long running offer and will certainly be available in October. I will wait for you my friend. No person left behind.

      • +1

        What a Aussie spirit!

  • +3

I'm on the wait list and i'm not having a cry about not getting a free 3 month tech newsletter subscription. Because i'm a grown ass man.

  • +5

    This was a laugh.

It's so easy to see who gets their medical advice from Facebook, TikTok and Instagram.

Grow up and get the vaccine like an adult with a brain.

    • +3

As opposite to getting medical advice from OzB?

      • +5

As opposed to getting it from the Therapeutic Goods Administration, the Department of Health (or equivalent in your state/territory) and your GP.

You know, the common sense places to get medical advice. It turns out randoms on the internet, whether OzBargain or YouTube, are a terrible source of medical information.

        • +2

You mean government that signed contract that states, citation:

“Purchaser further acknowledges that the long-term effects and efficacy of the Vaccine are not currently known and that there may be adverse effects of the Vaccine that are not currently known.”

          Yeahnah, I'm good.

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: So if you get sick with covid and need a doctor or a hospital, are you going to trust the treatments they give you despite not knowing what the long term effects on covid patients are? Or are you going to watch a youtube video on how to cure yourself with vinegar?

          • @[Deactivated]: Hi, let me introduce you to a clause in most contracts that limits liability.

I'd love for it to be this big game changer, but it just isn't.

Just boring, everyday stuff I'm afraid.

    • +1

Most anti vaxxers have no brain cells anyway. Probably due to all the coopers home brew they mix with metho, and crack.

  • +3

Honestly cant wait till the Qantas Vaccinated lottery for the Free Travel for a year goes online….some of these peeps are gonna lose their $hite.

    • +1

I know right? Gonna be an absolute meltdown when more, way bigger stores/brands inevitably do this.

  • +9

    Just wanted to comment again because I enjoy this deal so much;

Really highlights the scum in our society.

Original comment: This is the best deal ever. Disgustingly selfish imbecile bogan anti-vaxxer idiots getting all up in arms because they feel like they're missing out on something they didn't even know existed and probably wouldn't even take up even if they could!
    Thanks, OP!

    • +7

Why lump the bogans in with the anti Vax crowd? Bit harsh on the bogans.

      • +4

I couldn't think of a more appropriate word for the Aussie equivalent of the nutjob rednecks in the US, but you're right, I'm probably being a bit harsh :D

  • +2

I literally read that as free sausage sizzle for a jab. I was like sign me up.

    • +1

It is a national shame we as a country are not doing this :(

      • Many countries are offering financial incentives.

  • +3

people that pay for this service, do it to support the author, they don't need a free offer lol. Anything that is written can probably be easily found online and from free sources

    for example: https://www.thewatercoolest.com/

    • That a nice site to get Musk tweets late .
Might as well get them on issue instead and not be the last sheep in the line .

      • what makes you think this newsletter is any difference lol

        • Your right but I sure do miss Trump tweets and the rush to interpret in the marketplace .

          • @popsiee: journalism is a dumb field anyway, people just read them for entertainment purposes

  • -8

I cant get it yet. This is BS discimination.

    • +3

You can get the AZ, I'm sure everyone is eligible now if you don't have any health issues.

    • "I'm impatient" isn't a legitimate reason to downvote on OzBargain.

  • +3

Why are there so many down-votes?? If you don't want the vaccine then you don't get the reward, simple as that :)

  • +1

Excellent incentive. Getting the AZ jab saved my life (but not from COVID) so I'll give it a shot.

    • Oh? Why?

      • +3

Suspected blood clot turned out to be false but ended up finding something significantly worse unrelated by chance.

        • Bad but good but bad… I hope it works out!

  • +5

wow some of these commenters make me fume, but I also got great laughs out of others.
Also honestly glad there are more sane people in the community to help keep the peace.

Really though, I don't see why there needs to be so much ruckus. If a disease is rampaging and we aren't in lockdown, there might be a high chance I'll catch it. Vaccines are never 100% safe and that's understandable. I'd rather take that chance though, than quite likely contracting the actual disease and getting sick with worse symptoms from it?
Worst case scenario is I die, either from the tiny chance of a blood clot, or the small chance the disease itself takes me down.

If people have to argue both are bad, then I'll take the lesser 'evil', it's as easy as that.
Or, maybe I'm over simplifying things…

  • +2

    No thanks.

  • So many butt hurt people on here.

If you don't want to hand over your PI, then kindly step away from this post……easy 🤣

  • +1

Great job Anthony! Thanks for the very generous offer and your dedication to encouraging people to get vaccinated and staying safe.

    • Thank you for the kind words.

  • +3

Well, this thread has been a wild ride.

Thanks for the deal, I will be signing up.

P.S I had my sceond covid jba and no sumtums so faa, brian is woking nomally.
    .

  • Wasn’t there a free pint previously?

    • Free beers?! I may have offered that at some point. Maybe when we can have public gatherings again I'll shout subscribers a round :)

    • +6

      oh dear

  • -8

Piss off mate. What an abuse of ozbargain. Disgraceful.

    • +7

Yeah too right. I want to support overseas companies, millionaires, unsustainable products, etc, not local content.

  • -8

Who in their right mind would get the experimental jab just to subscribe to some unknown tech blog? I'd rather watch paint dry tbh.

    • +8

Don't inhale the fumes…or more fumes by the sounds of your comment?

    • lol

      "experimental jab"

    • No-one, but if you are jabbed and would be interested, there it is.

    • Yeah, let's just sit in respective lockdowns for the rest of our lives. That way we will be safe from COVID… Just until social unrest begins to tear Australia to pieces.

  • -8

    vaccinatedism! is that a thing?

Offering benefits distorts or corrupts medical decision-making by introducing inappropriate or irrelevant motivations.

    • Given that you tend to upvote even the most ludicrous anti-vaxx comments, is it really corrupting "medical decision-making"?

      • +1

kinda chuffed that you noticed 8]

        • +3

          You're very welcome!

    • +1

Do you really think people will be swayed by $15 for a newsletter?

      • thin end of the wedge…

        • +2

Well, you're certainly right there. We already have a No Jab, No Pay policy for certain payments.

  • Why are there so many anti-vax people?
The vax does a lot more good than harm, I don't get why so many people are anti-vaxxed.
    What are their issues?

    • +18

Why are there so many anti-vax people?

Natural selection takes a bit of time… COVID will speed up the process a bit though…

    • +8

You don't see it here but about 1 in 10 fear needles .
Including this brave heart who fought the fears during my first jab .
During the 15 mins observation I was taken to a lie down bed booth because I looked like a white ghost .

      • +3

Thanks champ! Taking one for the team :)

      • +1

I get sweaty just looking at the syringe still in the packaging on a shelf lol

  • -8

No thanks. Cheap marketing trick. Illegal to ask for personal medical history.

Illegal to ask for personal medical history.

      No it's not…

My insurance company asked for mine.

It’s never long before jv or sf3 show up and post a useless silly contribution. Self appointed experts on everything.

          post a useless silly contribution

          that's also a fact…

Hey Mods, is it worth making a wiki of covid related incentives for vaccinated? I expect there will be more as time goes on. Similar to bday deals etc

    • +1

I'm keen to do the covid "free beer" pub crawl with other vaccinated OzBargainers….

      • Did the free beer ever get properly allowed? Last I heard it was ScumMo making noise, but it was illegal to offer that incentive.

Besides, getting vaccinated has many benefits, but it may not stop you getting COVID and passing it on to others — it almost certainly reduces risk of serious illness, hospitalization and death, but it doesn't eliminate all risks.

        • but it was illegal to offer that incentive.

          It's not…

It's illegal for pharmaceutical companies to offer alcohol as incentives, but not pubs..

        • but it may not stop you getting COVID and passing it on to others

How many of the 360 cases in NSW today were vaccinated, and how many were not ???

    • +1

That's a great idea. A collection of freebies for those who get vaccinated!

    • Good idea. BTW, just saying the word "Mods" doesn't alert us like Batman. (I just happened to be reading through thread).

      Have made a page.

  • +2

This really has brought out the crazy in the Ozbargain community. These deals are going to become more common.

Even if you're anti-vax or can't get the vaccine, you should appreciate these offers as they'll get us back to normal sooner than your freedumb protests.

I'm not interested in a newsletter but will upvote for the initiative.

    • +2

dont worry, once the borders eventually opens next year there will be less of these crazies if you know what I mean ;)

  • -2

    Pete Evans likes this deal

  • under 40, can't even if get vaccinated if I wanted to, only place that has an available booking available is almost an hour's drive away. At this point I would consider a black market option

  • What if I’m waiting for my 2nd dose?

    • Then wear a mask… You are not fully vaccinated.

    • If you've got evidence of one dose (like an appointment booking card or whatever) submit that - I'm pretty lax on evidence, anything will do. Thanks for getting vaccinated!

  • +1

I don't really see any issue with this post, I'm sure op has only the best intentions in doing this and I can't see how this will cause serious harm. Curious about all the attention this has generated tho.
I am not anti or pro vax, I'm just a curious person trying to understand the controversy around this, and why people are becoming so hostile over another person's decision.

We all know vaccination improves how well you tolerate covid. Considering the vaccinated can still be carriers though, I don't understand why there is so much concern about other people's choice in getting the vaccine. Nobody can deny the chance of an adverse reaction, even if slim. I have had all my other vaccinations, and have reacted quite badly to some which has given me reason to be concerned about the novelty of these vaccines. They have not gone through the usual long and exhaustive process for determining their safety that all other vaccines and drugs adhere to via FDA. I don't see how it's unreasonable for some people to have concern. Everyone has a right to decide what they do with their body.

Vaccine also isn't the only way to tackle this. People could be supplementing zinc, vitamin d, eating healthy + exercising to boost their immune system. Same with ivermectin, which has plenty of reputable studies demonstrating its effectiveness as a prophylactic. Don't see many people talking about this though, which is slightly concerning.

We're all in this together; regardless of whether you agree or disagree with someone, it is unnecessary to condemn, berate or demean them for their choices. If you feel I am misunderstanding something, I won't deny the possibility, and would appreciate any insights if that is the case. Thanks op for the free stuff, and stay safe everyone x

    • +1

Vaccinated are much less likely to be "carriers" and spread it, which is the other part of the equation.

Not completely unlikely, which is why some still worry about the unvaccinated.

    • I think the OP's post is fair too, as if yours. We only do what we think is foremost in our best interests, even if we say it's for society.

It is however nearly worth posting a deal aimed at the non-vaccinated and see how long it stays up for though.

    • I thought ivermectin had been largely written off? It Had some initial positive studies that have since been questioned. One major meta analysis concluded it did nothing for covid.

Latest mainstream advice is that vaccination is still the best source of protection. Though I do understand some people hesitancy regarding these vaccinations.

      • +1

Initial in vitro studies seemed promising, the meta analyses did seem to indicate otherwise though, or at the very least that further studies need to be done to demonstrate its efficacy. Since then a large scale peer reviewed study has been released that demonstrates very promising results.

Vaccination is still of course the most readily available form of protection against covid. For those not wanting a vaccine, and for those concerned about people not getting a vaccine, this seems like a reasonable option to satisfy both parties (from my perspective at least).

  • Good idea, thanks!

  • Happy to submit an edited version of vaccination certificate. I assume you have no way of checking validity.

    • I do not - feel free to send me your dodgiest photoshop :)

  • -7

None of your or anyone else's business what vaccinations I have or haven't had.

    • +2

      Terrific story

    • +9

Then don't respond or take advantage of the offer. Not hard.

    • +3

Thanks for letting us know that you're not vaccinated.

      • Blame the government. Australia is the laughing stock of the western world with these vaccination rates.
