    • Just hot an updated delivery time, phew:

      New estimated arrival date: 24/08/2021 - 25/08/2021

  • +1

    4 to 6 months dispatch time :(

    • Only for the 8gb model.

    • +1

8GB removed now and promo updated to only mention 32GB and 4G model.

  • Got the 32GB! Thanks OP! <3

  • Accidentally ordered the 8gb and saw the massive delay after the fact. After lengthy support conversation. Cancelling and reorder 32gb does not affect the coupon code validity
    Thanks

  • Does anyone find much need to go beyond 8gb to 32 gb model? I mean the size of books being a few mb, do people really carry thousands of titles with them and need the extra space? Or is there something I'm missing as to why not just choose the cheapest storage option?

Also - I have an old kindle 5th gen that hardly got any use. I'd love one for night time reading (i.e. a kindle paperwhite) as the old 5th gens didn't have backlit lighting. But it still works, and i hardly used it - is there really any 'advantage' of getting the latest kindle? I mean surely words/screen quality wouldn't be markedly different to warrant replacing a working kindle with a new paperwhite? Or is it? Battery life claims seem largely the same as back when i bought mine many moons ago so that doesn't seem to be a reason to buy a new toy?

Do the 8gb or 32gb ever go on good sales prices to warrant buying another one? or are they always usually around this 'reduced' price?

    • I've had a 4gb Paperwhite for years. Never came close to filling it up. Probably a couple 100 books on there right now, mainly text based though, so unless you're trying load graphic novels or other image media you'll be fine. If it does fill up you can easily delete and reload as needed.
The backlight is great, so much more bedtime reading while the partner sleeps. I used to have the old kindle with a clip on light, backlight was a game changer for me.
Battery will be about the same, but the UI and page turns will be quicker. Not sure about the DPI vs what you have now.

    • The new Kindles have 300ppi screens. I think the old ones are around 160ppi.

    • Comics, manga and pdfs can take up space

  • This is a great deal - sadly paid $150 for 8GB in June, also on a deal.

  • got Prime but sadly not eligible

  • +1

Thanks, bought one. I am a prime member. Only the 32gb available (both). Delivery in a week

  • unable to check out with the 32gb - is it currently out of stock?

  • Will say I prefer the slightly yellower backlight on my old Paperwhite (6th gen).
Performance is the same, could have just got a new battery on eBay for $25.

  • Good deal but expired now except for the 4G which is an absolute rip. All smart phones have wifi hotspot if you need it these days, the on board memory is enough to store thousands of books so you won't need it.

    • @supersabroso With 4G being part of the 40% off, it isn't that bad, but I agree it is still more expensive than it should. This ends at 23:59 tonight, doesn't it? It does look like the only Paperwhite version still available is the 32GB 4G one.
