Good deal on 512gb for $90 too

  • Hey guys, I'm getting confused at all the terms regarding microSD cards,

Missus and I have android smartphones (pixel 5 and note10+) and looking at microSD cards for extra storage… would the Sandisk Ultra 512GB Micro SDHC UHS-I 120mb/s (SDSQUA4) be the one I'm looking for? or should I look at another type like the Sandisk Extreme Pro microSDXC, SQXCZ 256GB, V30, U3, C10, A2, UHS-I, 170MB/s R, 90MB/s W, 4x6, SD adaptor, Lifetime Limited, Red/black (SDSQXCZ-256G-GN)?

The Pixel 5 doesn't have an SD card slot but the note 10+ does. When it comes to the speed of the card you're looking for, it also depends on what you plan on using it for

      • whelp, last time i listen to her without doing my research!

Honestly? I'm just looking to take more photos/videos of my youngling. Higher Quality preferred :)

Well with the Pixel phones I'd recommend getting the most out of the Google Photos app as you can. Pixel 5 get unlimited photo backup (although not at full quality) but the convenience can't be beaten.

If you're just going to manually cut+paste the photos once a month from your phone to the SD card then I guess you wouldn't need the highest speed if you're not in a rush that day once a month but I am sure someone else can chime in on this process. I don't personally keep photos on my SD card

My wife loves photos. We've tried everything - if you're in the earlyish days of photo hoarding go for a cloud service. SD cards fail too quick, and the threat of data loss in 2-4 years was real for us. I went through 3 SD cards in 5 years.

Google photos is the best - similar would be apples service. Next is onedrive, but managing large amounts of photos in one drive is painful.

Put the money from endless SD cards towards the monthly cost of Google one after you fill your free 15gb. It's worth it.

Try the app Family Album on google play store
Uploads in high quality , videos and photos and really quick too

  • The write speed the same as the EVO cards? The $10 off at Ebay Afterpay code still works, so the Evo would be similar/ cheaper ..but would need an Afterpay account.

    • Link?

  • Will this work well on the Nintendo Switch ?

  • These guys need to update their web site security. Hit Forgot Password and it sends me a new password in plain text in an email.

      New temporary password =/= password

    • Sending you a temporary password is no different than sending you a link or 2FA pin.

It's only an issue if they are sending your actual password.

      • -1

It means the site is storing your password in plain text in their database.

        • Not if they are randomly generating a plain text password that then forcing you to change it

        • You are missing that it is a Temporary and probably time limited unlocker code.
It may even be a TOTP code which means it is generated on the fly for the email and during validation never stored anywhere besides your inbox.

  • not recommended for dash cams, im guessing? recently ordered a sandisk high endurance but would like a back up card, dunno if this would be a good one though or if i should stick to endurance cards

  • Ultra 100 for 17.95
    Or
    Ultra 120 for 21.95?

Is the 120 worth the extra $4?

    • Don't tell me that, I just bought 2

    • Yes

      • Why yes?

  • Thanks got the 256GB for $40

  • Good for 4K?

  • Is this good for a DJI drone?

  • Would this work on a BlackVue dr750x plus dash cam? They sell their own micro sd cards but it’s around 200 for the 128gb. This is such a bargain if it’s compatible with my dashcam.

    Thanks in advance.

endurance cards from sandisk or samsung would be a better choice
