For Rock Band on the Xbox 360, you will just need the MIDI Pro Adapter. For Rock Band 4 on the Xbox One/Series X you will need the MIDI Pro Adapter AND the Wired Legacy Adapter, which has been discontinued for a while, expensive and really hard to find. An alternative to the setup on Rock Band 4 is getting the Roll Limitless with Xbox upgrade but you need a Rock Band 2 drum controller for it to work. At that point, you are better off getting the PTB for Clone Hero on PC.
Get Rock Band 3 on Xbox 360 and play custom songs. This is the path I'd tell people who were starting.
Either Rock Band 3 or Clone Hero would be great options, only thing to keep in mind is that customs only work on the EA version of the disc instead of the MadCatz version.
@umjamlam: Yup, I have a couple of 360s and thumb drives setup just in case my PDP legacy adaptor ever fails- I got it cheap for $150. I would really cry, I have purchased about 2000 songs.
Yes. I have mine connected to RB4 for Xbox.
There's only a few ways to do this:
1) VERY EXPENSIVE official adapted plus midi adapted. Easily $1000+ not including the drum set
2) CHEAP if you have an Xbox 4 rock band drum set already - this is what I did - you can solder cables to connect the drum kit to the Xbox drum "brain" so that the drum brain thinks it's connected to the rock band drum set.
3) there's a guy on the RB4 Reddit who is selling a homemade adapted for around $200.

I've been on the hunt for a new kit after selling my TD-6V many years ago.
Damn you OzBargin , why do you keep tempting me with things that I never even considered buying before.. but now have some inner need to purchase even though I have no time to learn a new instrument / skill.
A few reviews commenting the rims on the drum pads are far too high at around 1.6cm tall. They get in the way of hitting the drum head with frequent unintended rimshots, especially for the snare. Also other comments that the set is very low to the ground at max height. Similarly several reports of dodgy headphone sockets out of the box. I think I will resist.
