Great price, got this set last deal in May for $652.34 delivered via Amazon AU

    • +1

It really is a great price. I am sorry I missed it.

If anyone suffers a case of buyers remorse, please send me a private message.

  • +5

Oh man, this is so tempting.
Haven't really drummed since I sold my kit when I was a teenager. Would love a e drum set to tinker at again…

    • +5

I don't know how to drum or have any musical percussion skills (except playing the xylophone — not sure if that's even percussion instrument) but the price drop made me buy it. lol

Honey says it's 43% price drop

    • +2

Do it man. My kid has the Debut kit and it's so much fun. This is a really good price too.

  • +12

🥁 Absolutely smash a session out on the loudest setting during this lockdown at about 9:30am and you'll be the loved by all those nearby who WFH 🥁

    • +6

      Turn it up to 11.

    • +6

Exact same reason I’m learning to play the bagpipes

  • I was looking for the Alesis SR-16 to use to connect to my 360 drum midi output but for this price it is quite good but with 360 drum I can move it around easily. I have played with it before with my friend's Roland eDrum, it is very good.

  • +5

Thanks OP! Great price compared to local shops.

    • Cheers!

  • +1

Noob question but do these need to be hooked up to an amp and speakers? Or could you use bluetooth headphones or something?

    • +3

You can use wired headphones but if you want it to make loud noise you'll need powered speakers or an amp, yeah.

      • +1

Any midi input from the drum module?

        edit:

After checking photos online, seem the drum module have in/out midi.

      • but if you want it to make loud noise you'll need powered speakers or an amp, yeah

Well the beauty of these kits is that you can put on headphones and still have it really loud without annoying anyone else.

    • +2

From the images I would guess it can take on a wired headphone, you can use a bluetooth audio transmitter to use a bluetooth headset perhaps?

      • +6

Yes, just use wired ones. I wouldn't bother with a BT audio transmitter, you would want the sound to hit your ears immediately.

        • I wouldn't bother with a BT audio transmitter, you would want the sound to hit your ears immediately.

A good pair of BT headphones will have latency around 20ms, imperceptible to anyone considering buying this level of instrument.

          • @1st-Amendment: You realise that this drum kit doesn’t have a BT module? So you need a good pair or BT headsets and a really good BT transmitter. That’s why I said ‘don’t bother’.

    • +4

Not a good idea to use bluetooth speakers or headphones because you will have latency

  • +3

I paid almost double late last year (purchased at a local shop). Can't say it's being used much (wife bought it for our daughter who had a great drum teacher at school who then left shortly afterwards) - probably one of our worst purchases ever, now even worse knowing that we paid way too much for it.

    • on the fence right now, i wanted to try electric drums but dont want to spend thousands on Roland or Yamaha.

      • +4

Do it, I've been wanting one for years and at this price….

      • +3

We rented one from musicorp.com.au which is working out pretty well for us so far.

    • +8

Put it on Gumtree or FB marketplace there's a ton of bored people looking for hobbies.

  • +6

Omg day made! Finally getting a kit again!

    Reviews look great https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4TwgbazrtM

    • +1

It might be good - but that's not a review haha

  • +1

As a side note, can anyone recommend any good teachers or online classes to learn drums as a beginner?

    • Drumeo is meant to be really good, but it's not cheap

    • +2

Since you're in VIC, I can recommend an excellent teacher.

      • +1

        Channel 31 Melbourne Musos ftw!

    • There are 60 free Melodics lessons included with the kit. I've used Melodics with a few DJ controllers and the live feedback is pretty good.

    • You could watch Animal from The Muppets.

    • +1

I think all the free videos from drumeo, Stephen Taylor, and Drum Beats online will take you a long way. At least long enough to have a better feel for if you want to pay for a course.

I think Stephen Taylor has some excellent beginner videos (how to set up your kit, how to hold your sticks, how to build to your first beat kind of stuff), which progress from there.

Drum Beats Online has some really good top 20 beginner drum beats and top 20 beginner drum fills videos.

    • Youtube.
Seriously, there are pro-level lesson on there for free.

      • +1

I have lifetime Drumeo. If you're serious, you should go get a few real lessons- Drumeo is the next best thing. It brings structure to learning the drums rather than just seeking out stuff online, but there is heaps of good stuff out there for free.

        • I see that Lifetime Drumeo isn't currently available: is it something which is offered regularly?

          • @RichardMelbourne: Maybe once or twice a year- check Black Friday or Christmas. It isn't cheap though, from memory it was close to $1k USD (equivalent to 4x annual), so you need to work out your own value proposition.

            • @bxpressiv: Wow! I'll definitely have to ensure my drums aren't just going to be a dust-collector before signing up for that. Cheers.

  • +4

General consensus around edrum groups is that these aren't as robust as the Rolands, but OTOH, this is a lot cheaper.

    • +9

Fact. I had to do a lot more maintenance with my Alesis kit re-soldering split wires in the pads- I have never had to do that with my Roland pads. Even in feel alone, Roland pads are much much better out of the box than Alesis. This is great value and a good way of determining if you're going to get into a routine before dropping bigger money on a better kit. I've upgraded twice already. :)

      • +3

This. its been years since the last time i played drums. I have my eyes set on Roland VAD506 as it looks like an acoustic drums but I am a bit worried spending $5+k on that then realizing that edrums are not for me. I am still waiting for the finance minister to approve purchasing this Alesis kit……. :b

        • +4

It's done (added to cart)…..it's over…(checkedout)…..thanks! Im super excited!

          • +2

@blackpizza: I have the VAD506, it's awesome, don't need to upgrade anything. I came from a TD17KVX and before that Alesis Surge Mesh. The fall of the Oz dollar and COVID kept prices high so I just about being even on the first two lots when selling- actually profited in the Alesis for a two year old kit.

            • @bxpressiv: What do you find is the biggest difference between the VAD506 to TD17KVX and Alesis Surge ?

              • +1

@Magik: The price. They're different market segements, so not really worth comparing. If you don't know if you'll play, get an Alesis BUT at the top end of the enthusiast line (TD17KVX IMO) the gear holds it's price pretty well. Once you're looking at $3k+ the market is so thin you would start taking a hit on resale because not many people have that sort of money.

Regardless of what you get, pay overs for a decent kick or double kick pedal because that will last even as you're upgrading other parts.

          • +2

@blackpizza: Exactly. I haven't drummed in years and want to get back into it, not going to spend over 1K for a Roland kit straight away.

This kit looks fantastic to get back into it!

            • @starspawn:

not going to spend over 1K for a Roland kit straight away.

Roland have a mesh kit for about $900 which is a great starter kit. You can then upgrade the brain if required later when you need more precise sounds.

    • This is more akin to an Aldi instrument compared to the Roland.

      • Let's not get ridiculously carried away…

        • I think the worst part is that hitting the drum either hard or soft results in exactly the same sound, just quieter or louder. It really is a toy compared to the Roland and Yamaha.

          • +1

            @DingoBlue:

I think the worst part is that hitting the drum either hard or soft results in exactly the same sound

Are you saying that because you have experienced it on this exact model kit? I find that extremely hard to believe as these most definitely have velocity sensitive pads and cymbals.

            • @DATApush3r: I don't think this model is like that.

But my 360 drum is like that 😆

            • @DATApush3r: Yeah, never heard anyone who actually owns and/or uses one complain about the lack of velocity sensing.

          • +1

@DingoBlue: Re-reading your comment, I see what you are saying now. You are saying there is only one very distinct sample that plays over and over instead of varied samples that makes it sound more acoustic. I suppose that's where things like connecting the setup up to a PC and using EzDrummer come to the rescue.

            • @DATApush3r: Thanks for that tip, will check out EzDrummer

            • @DATApush3r: Yeah there is some sense of velocity but it only uses it for volume, and even then it's a very inconsistent and touchy affair in terms of sensitivity. Moreover there are only single samples with no layering or modelling, to my ears there isn't even different attack or decay based on velocity.

Also if you're hoping to use a PC as a sound engine ensure the kit has native USB midi. …… MIDI to USB is too slow to work in real time.

  • +3

I don't know why I really want this even though I can't play and probably won't ever use it haha

  • +2

    Got one, thanks!
Been thinking about getting an electronic drum kit for years.
    This one is it!

  • +1

    ..perfect for lockdown

  • +1

Thanks OP, got one. Can’t wait to give it a crack!

  • $311 shipping..??

  • Don't forget 4% Cashback for musical instruments with Shopback!

    • Don't forget 4% Cashback for musical instruments with Shopback!

I saw 0% on web, anyway doesn't matter.

    • Damn, that changed quick! Back to 0% :(

  • +1

Great price. Great digital starter kit. Had my lockdown crisis during last year and got one. It sucks you in though. New sticks. Drum stool. Amp. Drum pad. All worth it though.

  • How much floor space will this take when set up? Very keen but will need to find space for it.

    • +1

Just under 1.5m2, depending on how tall you are and your distance to the drums. Probably less if you tuck it away in a corner (triangle setup if that makes sense).

  • -1

It's only free delivery for Prime?
Showing as a whopping $311 delivery for me.

    • +2

Was free for me you need prime.

If this is actually being shipped from the UK honestly the shipping would cost more than the product. Wonder how big the box is going to be…..

      • +1

tbf, when it notified me yesterday, it had the $311 delivery fee even with Prime. But since they removed the delivery, it's a steal

    • +3

Join Prime for $49…Much cheaper than $311 & you will get free shipping on any other products you purchase for a year…Win/Win

      • +2

Or just pay for $6.99 for a month of Prime

  • Now I wish Amazon sell hybrid piano

  • +1

    Damn, pulled trigger….

  • +2

Reminder to anyone buying this - don't use the felt side of the kick drum beater unless you put a pad on the head, because the felt rips up the mesh. (A pad is a good idea anyway, apparently.)

    • Thanks!

Also can you recommend a double pedal for this?

      • Nope, only just ordered mine this morning :-D

        • Been looking into options for a double pedal, looks like the two beaters will need to be fairly close together so that they both hit the kick pad due to the size

The Roland RKP10D Double Kick Pedal looks like it would work well

When you say put a pad on the head, do you mean one of those kick drum sticker pads to take the impact yeah?

          • +1

@starspawn: Yeah, it is basically just a physical barrier to stop the felt/plastic beater actually contacting the mesh.

            • +1

@mickeyjuiceman: Thanks! I assume any drum pad sticker would work on the Alesis kick right?

  • +1

My 10yo son will be very happy about this. I will give it a bash too.
Now what about stool, sticks, amp?

  • +5

    omg wtf have i done

    • +1

Haha this whole thread is hilarious! Live your best life my friend!!!

  • +2

Assume it will be UK plug, right?

    EDIT:

Bought, seem better value than just buy the drum module for my 360 drum kit. The question now is where to put it 😆

    • The question now is where to put it 😆

Haha here at OzBargin, we don't think about such trivial things until the package arrives LOL

      • we don't think about such trivial things until the package arrives LOL

It needs a lot more space than my 360 drum behind me now 😆

  • Thanks OP!

  • +1

    Pulled the trigger! Thanks OP

  • +9

I can't believe this just happened. I was seriously considering getting a drum set again after not being able to play drums for like 15 years. Today is the day my friends! I'm so STOKED! How serendipitous!

    • +2

This is exactly how I feel! So HAPPY about this purchase!

  • Thanks. Grab one.

  • Can this connected to the xbox for RockBand?
