Trade-In Process:

  1. Purchase a surface device from above at the Microsoft Store
  2. Get an online valuation of your old device to trade in
  3. Upload surface purchase details
  4. Send your old device in
  5. Receive the valuation amount back into your bank account

iPads 2, 3, 4, and 5 give a high valuation compared to most other devices for some reason, I think it has to do with purchasing these specific surface devices because purchasing anything else drops the value significantly.

    They have now removed the option to select which surface device was purchased and gives a value less than $50 and ending this deal. We can now only hope they don't consider this to be an error since they have confirmed the $400+ valuation to be correct on Friday.

    Tried uploading the receipt and it just wouldn’t work for me. Now the iPad is valued at $38 and I’ve already paid for a Microsoft product I don’t want/need - what a waste of time haha

      Microsoft has 60 days return policy should you not get the full trade in value.

          They mention in their FAQS "If you reject the new value, CExchange will cancel the trade-in, email you tracking details, and ship your used device back to you within 5 business days." So I think you should be fine

            @newsat: My reading is they should only issue a new trade in value if the condition didn’t match, so if you have a device in pristine quality it’ll be harder for them to revise the value? Can’t seem to see anything about error in original trade in value.

    After speaking with Microsoft store team on the phone just now they said they cannot cancel the order (its still in Pending status on my account but the cancel button is gone). So either they honour the advertised trade in price or they told me I'll just have to go through their return process once the device arrives. Did anyone actually get the roughly $400 deposited back into their account from an earlier trade in?

      We don't know if its an actual deal, when you think about there would have been an influx of iPads sent to them. They can claim its a database error then none of us will get anything.

      If they do that I will return the goods to MS within 60 days hopefully they give us a response within 60

    Did anyone have an issue with their shipping labels? Mine was rejected at AusPost so I had to request a new one.

    Also, I had selected no power charger in the assessment but the CEX email requested cables and chargers otherwise the full amount would not be credited—anyone have luck without sending those in?

      You mean the email after you submitted the trade in or further email from them after they received your iPad? I think that is just a standard email.

      I also selected no power cable and charger.

                  @profeeder55: For Surface laptop go, Its $777 now on the same config and I paid 999 before, I hope MS gives that difference back. If CExchange works out then I would try to claim the difference after $454 trade in.

                  So that's $999 - $454 - $222 = $323
