OzReminder for those who may not be familiar with this hack. Thank you for the original post Ulysses31. Here are some steps to setup a Turkish or Argentinian Netflix account to save $$$. Results may vary so it's best to read up, there are plenty of comments below and members happy to help. Unfortunately, it may not work for everyone so please keep that in mind.

Netflix plans

Step 1: Please understand that following all these steps may not work for you

There is no need for aggression in instances where you are unable to subscribe to an international Netflix account. Share your experience so everyone can chip in and help out. There are plenty of examples where hacks shared on this platform do not work for some people, but may work for others:
* Modem reset for faster internet,
* Cash back program purchase tracking,
* Price matching an unobtainable deal or price error,
* Targeted bargains, and
* Limited quantity items quickly or instant (bot) sellout.
Similarly we know there are cash back users who follow every single step for cash back (turn off ad blocker, have no items in cart, do not click other links, etc.) on their purchases and it does not work, its probably best to move on.There are many users who successfully use this hack and enjoy paying half the price of the Australian membership.     The gift cards can be directly purchased from this Turkish e-commerce website called trendyol.

    You can purchase the gift cards without paying any premium (other than any international transaction fees your bank charges):

    Website is in turkish but can be translated easily through Google Transalate in Chrome.

    Also for people facing errors in adding their credit/debit cards on Netflix, just go and start live chat in the Netflix Help Website and request for the Payment Update Form through the chat window. All my cards which were showing errors earlier were easily added through that form. The cards I added through the payment form and which worked are:

    • Macquarie Debit
    • NAB Credit
    • NAB Debit
    • HSBC Debit

    The only issue is if you update your card through that form, it removes any existing payment methods (except Gift Cards) from your account.

        I am pretty sure you need to have a working account for them to update the card. I don't know if you can change payment card for an elapsed account if that's what you are asking. I had my account running so I faced no issues.

      It seems like trendyol has gotten stricter about their accounts. My account of 10 months was blocked today due to 'suspicious activity' when I used my normal bank card which I have used before. It seems like this is a dead end. Sorry for the false hope people 😔

      thanks for the info @hangryfordeals. Got a 100TL giftcard through your link. Had to get a random turkish address and number to sign up, but received the card codes within an hour.
      Payed with my Aussie credit card, and charged a small int trans fee.
      Logged into Netflix Turkey via my Surfshark VPN, and reactivated my account (after deactivating it a day earlier) and used the gift card as payment - as apposed to updating my old Oz credit card details.

      Turned off my VPN, opened up Netflix again and working great! Shows my balance in TL with account due mid December.
      Will attempt to update my c card details when my giftcard credit runs out.

        Cheers. You can add your card anytime before the gift card runs out. The addition of a credit/debit card won't affect the gift card balance. If there was a card in your Netflix account already then Netflix should automatically charge your saved card in the Turkish prices.

    hi all guys i am having problems with Netfix via Revolut. In practice, I access Netflix Turkey via VPN (winderscrabe, Hola VPN) in the payment method I enter Revolut Visa but Netflix does not accept payment. Another guy told me that Revolut works on Netflix but you have to go through the procedure to get the card accepted, can someone help me? Also this guy told me that a few months ago you had to change the label of the Revolut card to add emojis so Netflix accepted them. Now he says that to get the Revolut card accepted you have to change Netflix links, I don't know if that's the truth but the guy sent me netflix screenshots with Visa card inside.       Try to buy a turkish gift card before to activate your turkish account. Once your account is up and running, Netflix help live chat, ask for Payment Update Form, put your card details in (any card should work) and voila!

          The payment update form is provided within the chat window. They'll ask for the account name and email and they'll remove all the saved cards in your account when tthey add the new card.

          No no no, They do that and bring you to the original page. Ask them to provide you the Payment Update Form in that chat. Just say that it doesn't work using that method and you want the payment update form in that chat.

      I have just added 100TL credit to my account last night (22 Oct) premium as well.
      My account shows I have credit of 45.01 TL and paid till 16 Dec.
      I'm assuming the credit added will pay for the 1st month, then maybe on a day pro rata basis till the credit is used up

    This time was rejecting my 28degrees so tried to re-add the cvc then it asked me for a Turkish mobile number so followed another ozbargain comment and turned off vpn, and then this time didn’t prompt and just deactivated.

    Ah… I just got an email that Argentina is changing their monthly prices on all their plans so my basic plan is going from ARS 279 (pre-tax) to ARS379 (pre-tax) as of November 24, 2021.

    Did anyone else get similiar emails for Turkey? Not sure if I should make an effort and move my VPN to Turkey now as it may be possibly $2 cheaper I would imagine per month.

    Here’s what I have done so far, still waiting for success

    1. signed up using PIA vpn in Turkey,
    2. used my wise account to pay,
    3. got to the phone verification screen, which I ignored and signed into new tab
    4. Looks like my account is created, but I get a message asking me to finish signing up. When I click, it takes me back to the payment page.
      Now, I am unable to use the same wise details that worked for the first time - get an error saying incorrect payment details.
    5. Searched up some comments and bought a gift card from trendyol, but now my order says estimated shipping 30 Oct. i sincerely hope
      I can get the gift card sooner.

      Considering the pakistan price is more than double that of Turkey's, It's probably not worth trying. Brazil would be cheaper and may be easier to get a bank card working but I haven't tried. Turkey is not hard to do if you're happy to keep using gift cards and it is still cheaper purchasing gift cards for Turkey than to use your bank card with Brazil.

      Best is activate Australian first. verify the number. Let it expire. Use VPN. reactivate with Turkey giftcard. Never got asked for the turkey number.

    Added PureVPN extension to MS Edge, logged into PureVPN and selected Turkey, done IP check and it says I'm in Istanbul.

    When I try to go to netflix.com.tr it says can't reach this page and err_tunnel_connection_failed.
    When I try netflix.com it says the requested URL cannot be retrieved.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    As the Turkish lira keeps biting the dust, this will be even cheaper.
    There months ago I started with AUD 9 for ULTRA plan and last month I got charged just AUD 7.75 only. And now, as per the current exchange rate, the ULTRA plan will be around AUD 5.90.

    Thanks OP worked flawlessly. Steps I took were;

    1) Let Netflix account lapse.
    2) Installed Windscribe VPN to browser (Chrome) and changed country to Turkey (Free)
    3) Opened Netflix and it prompted me to renew subscription, so followed the steps for that and it renewed with my CBA Debit card for $6.35 for the Ultra 4K plan.
    4) Logged out, turned off VPN and we are cooking with gas now.

    Stoked!

    It is showing under my account that I have a backup payment as PayPal - can I just leave the gift card balance to expire and it will default to PP?

    A couple of things about my fun with this yesterday.

    Firstly, when I tried login to Turkey Netflix via VPN, my password failed from account setup in Oz. I then reset my password but again failed, tried again and worked. There was nothing wrong with my original password but for some reason it fails first time, second time it logs in fine. A problem with VPN or browser, I have no idea.

    Second thing is I ordered a gift card from https://www.mtcgame.com/
    12hrs later and after clicking the order refresh a million times I got onto chat. Said they had none in stock and try tomorrow or get a refund (7 days). I get on to chat again an hour later and the next person said I must verify my mobile number and will get it in 30mins. I did this but immediately thinking a scam and started researching this site and there are many negative posts.

    Waited the 30mins and nothing. An hour later got onto chat again and requested a refund but received the gift card soon after and as people mentioned above, a photo of the gift card printout. Immediately tried it many times (used google translate to find the code) and it failed and failed….

    At this stage gave up thinking I've been scammed but this morning I tried and it worked.
    Again, a mystery why.

        I'm just going to answer my own questions. So I was using Urban VPN to switch to Turkey and I could setup the account and confirmed it's pointing to Turkey website. However, when I tried to apply the GC balance to the account, I got the error message "Sorry, we are unable to process your request". I looked it up online and lots of people had the same issue but managed to resolve it by changing the VPN provider.

        I switched to Windscribe and continued setting up my subscription and managed to apply the GC balance in a second. However, I got stuck again after applying the 3rd or 4th GC and got the same error message "Sorry, we are unable to process your request."

        This time I turned off my VPN completely and just used my normal internet provider. I also logged out and in of my Netflix account again to refresh the data and continued to apply the GC balance and it worked! I managed to apply 3-4 more GC and now the account is fully paid for 13 months. Total cost is $ 89.50 for 13 months with GC bought from MTC Game.

    I have already got Netflix Turkey and needed to update payment method to a different card. Nord VPN with chrome desktop rejected all my cards (Revoult, Macquarie, Anz, 86400). Thanks to fellow ozbargainers experience, I tried the below and it worked flawlessly. I now got 2 backup cards (Revoult and Macquarie) added successfully. Hope some one finds it useful.

    1. From my mobile, activarted getfilx VPN for Turkey
    2. connected to netflix.com using duckduckgo browser
    3. Added additional cards without a glitch and got confirmation emails
