            • @E4xtream: "If only Xbox had that many exclusives" is what you wrote but yeah if you are changing your comment now I suppose my answer is not relevant.
To date the Microsoft releases are of a high quality I'd rather quality over quantity any day.

can't believe they are still selling these without embed battery….. it's 2021…

    • +9

That is not a good thing if you care about longevity. The ease of swapping out dead batteries for fresh ones is another advantage that cannot be overlooked.

      • buttons will sack and rubber on stick will decay.. maybe for leisure gamers replaceable battery is a good thing… but for intensive ones a controller won't last over 2 years…

      • Longevity is actually what I used to think with my xbox controller. But now looking at it, Microsoft uses really cheap plastic, I hardly use mine and the analog sticks have turned colour as well as crumbles off when its swiveled… its really just a business decision of theirs to exclude batteries for extra profit. Looking back in hindsight, I'd much prefer integrated batteries for ease of use.

      • Doesn't matter how you spin it, not including rechargeable batteries is a bad move. If Microsoft cared about giving you choice, they would include that rechargeable pack with every controller sold. Then you could just choose on your own how you want to go about it.

        • +1

I mostly agree, it would have been a feature win over the competition.

The RRP is lower, but it's also missing some features the others have, if you add the price of the play and charge kit it turns into the most expensive.

    • +4

When a battery dies in a controller, most will throw it out. If I buy rechargeable batteries, it means less waste.

Also there are those who collect controllers with inbuilt batteries and have to recharge them every couple of month to keep the battery kicking.

      So yeah, it's 2021.

      • I see your point.. for collectors this could be a good thing… any maybe these XBOX controllers are more for collectors than gamers…

    • I think 8bitdo has the best solution yet. Followed by Xbox. Maybe there are too many of us. That's why you don't see the embed battery.

    • Weird, people whinge about phones having non-removable batteries, and yet here people whinge that controllers don't have non-removable batteries…

      • completely different topic.. you don't take your controller out everyday…

        • +1

Removable batteries > embedded in like every consumer product ever.

      • Non removable phone batteries make sense for waterproofing. Controllers not so much.

They should come with a removable battery pack like 8bitdo.

    • I have a X1 and PS4 controller and prefer having the swappable battery as it more convenient to me.

Normally I play using Keyboard/Mouse but each time I want to use a controller the PS4 often goes flat during this time. So I have to wait to charge or play with a USB cable.

The X1 controller doesn't seem to loose charge over time when not in use and if it does go flat during a game, I can just swap it out with a new set and continue on. Never needed to play with the cable connected and with a stash of Eneloops I have, its a non-issue.

If/when the controller does break the battery still gets to live on and be useful in other devices I around the house. Torch's, Yeelight's, Controller's(including VR), remote's etc.

    Got one for the culture.

    Plus I like see-through tech.

    Thanks op 👍

  • Thanks OP. Bought one to go with my 3 years Xbox game pass from this deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/654519?page=2#comment

    • Especially with cloud gaming.

  • Pre-orders are back on the MS store.

10% cashback on Xbox GCs through SB, you can also claim GCs through MS rewards if you use it.

    • I hate they charge straight away if you pay by gift card. And took me 3 weeks (4 times of chasing) to cancel my Forza controller preorder. Much prefer Amazon's way of doing preorder. I have 10% Amazon gift card anyway.

      • Amazon are the same with GC balance, my preorders show as pending and reflect on the balance.

Looks like they handle pre-orders better though, I wouldn't be surprised if they have the better online store.

        • Yes balance showing pending, but you can cancel by just one click on amazon. You can not do this with MS(if you pay by gift card), I have to do multiple times online Chating, phone call. Etc. Waste me a lot of time.

  • I have an xbox series x controller to use for pc and get so much dropouts so frequently that its unusable.
Firmware is the latest. I am connecting via bluetooth.
Does anyone else have the same issues on pc?
    How did you fix it?
Its fine over usb-c cable but obviously having the cable drag is not ideal for a wireless controller.

    • +3

I had issues using bluetooth with series controllers, ended up buying one of the latest dongles and its perfect via that

    • +2

I have the same issue with bluetooth dropouts, even after firmware upgrade. I read the wireless adapter (sold separately) works better, but I cant be bothered buying extra adapters and just stayed with usb cable. I hope the next firmware upgrade actually fixes the issue.

      • +1

3rd this, Xbox USB dongle works perfect on PC 3 controllers can walk to other rooms and still works
Bluetooth is more hit and miss and range isn't as good

  • Looks OOS in MS store.

    • They are in and out of stock for couple of time already. Looks like they are going to make planty of these. Not like the Forza or halo elite

      • Yeah I just realised that. Keep refreshing the page and I was able to placed an order. Cheers!

My friend tried returning the Xbox elite series 2 controller to the Sydney Microsoft store, it was the most horrible experience he's ever had, first no access due to December last year's pandemic, and Microsoft taking it seriously while no qr code then, and then June this year I recall them telling me the clerk there informed them to bring in the controller, then the next day the manager didn't want to touch it asking what's the problem… stick drift.

The guy told him he had none in stock, he was frustrated waiting outside emailing the business card about the Xbox series 2 controller, and when the lock down began he just gave up.

He wants to sell the controller, and states if anyone buys a series 2 controller keep the long cord if you return it, it's more useful then Microsoft.

    🤭

    • +1

Elite series had a lot of problems which Is well known

    • While the store should definitely be better than that for what sounds like a multitude of reasons, logging a controller with an issue via Microsoft's device support page is super easy, generally get a shipping label the next day, pop it in the mail and they send you back a replacement within 1 business day generally sent via TNT Overnight Courier. It's about a 10 day turnaround in Perth but that's because of shipping it over east via Australia Post, I imagine anyone on the East Coast would see turnaround within the week.

      • You must send it to Sydney international airport, but if you go the the Microsoft store they'll replace it on the spot with a brand new one if in store, it's just they will not do it on your behalf in store sending it, and sending via mail shouldn't cost money.

And driving to Sydney airports ware house district isnt commuter friendly last I recalled.

So I personally wouldn't buy such a expansive device, sadly some people you know do.

        • I'm not sure what this is about Sydney airport, but in regards to the device support website they give you a fully prepaid shipping label, obviously need your own box/satchel but most would have something laying around. It's not a perfect solution, but if your mates controller is still broken gives him an option hopefully!

          • @MBix: He wants to return it asap and never buy the controller ever again once lock down ends.

Sell it for it's full price and move on.

That's probably the best decision I say.

WOAH MANNNN ITS GOT SOME LETTERS WRITTEN ON IT AND ITS BLACK WOOOOW

    • +1

N64 and Gameboys were translucent. Don't knock good products.

  • +1

.. and just when I didn't think I need to buy stuff, I log onto ozbargain.com.au.

Why do you people do this to me? Why????

    • you know what, you should block ozbargain from all your laptop/ mobile/ipad/etc, to save you from further damaging. LOL

  • +1

Thanks, will end up getting it for $90 as pre-ordered with Microsoft with a gift card from Shopback (10% instant cashback).

  • Thanks. Finally got one through MS.

Only $45 after shopback and claiming MS points!

  • I don’t play Xbox, only PlayStation but that controller looks pretty sick

    • -1

Thanks but someone already mentioned on page 1

      • My bad, must have missed the comment.

  • MS has restocked again, or maybe people are cancelling pre-orders? Either way if you prefer buying from them keep an eye out.

    • I just ordered one from MS, looks like the last one of this batch. Cancelled my Amazon preorder. Cos I managed pay less from MS.

      • Same, for me it was the 10% cashback on GCs with ShopBack and a bunch of saved up MS Rewards points turned into MS GCs.

The Forza one popped up a couple of times as well (literally, unlike the 20th anniversary which appeared quite often), managed to snag one.

        • 10% GC with 7.5% cole master card, make it 17.5% off, plus i have a 34.5% off small amout GC. also there is cashback ( not sure whether they will pay, at least it tracked.) adds all up my final price could be $78.62 or $80

for forza, i did orginally preorder from ms using 10% GC, then i realize JB had 20% off (afterpay deal), cancelled MS, find out JB is presold out. managed to order one from EB now, using all i could get, and the price is the same as the MS w 10% GC. very stupid me.

they even have the halo elite controller up from time to time. have to be lucky.

          • @ce5himm: Didn't know that the MS store had cashback, I'll keep that in mind for the future.
