For the price of 5600x when it is on sale, you can get a 6 core CPU with mobo.

Aorus Pro is a very good B560m mobo according to hardware unboxed. And 11400 is quite competitive, it's slightly worse than 5600x, but has integrated gpu.

  • Excellent deal

  • That's cheap!

OEM tray version, CPU Cooler not included, better to add in the description
I got 5600x + Gigabyte B550 DS3H for $420 from ebay deals + afterpay referral, if anyone can hold it for next deal, I think you can get a similar or cheaper deal.

    • So what else ya getting? I'm looking at building a new PC from scratch. Thinking roughly the same…

      • +1

Just a note, Gigabyte D3* mobos are bottom of the line mobo, the B560m counter part has high vrm temp.
Plus no one would use the stock 11400 cooler anyway, it's just ewaste.
5600x is definitely better, but factor in a decent mobo, this bundle would be much cheaper, and no need to setup eBay plus and after pay.

      • +2

I got G.Skill Aegis 32 GB kit (16*2) CL16 3200 MHz kit for $180 from Ebay deal without Afterpay. Afterpay didn't approve it and so missed the discount.
        Just replaced old PC's (i5-2400 + Q67 MB + 16 GB DDR3) CPU+MB+RAM with new parts.
I think Gigabyte B550M DS3H (got for $85) VRM is quite ok for 5600x (got for $335) as per this review. B550M Aorus Elite (Aorus Pro has better VRM) has the same VRM design as DS3H as per that review.

          Nice, i got the i5 4670 h81 8gb ram with rx570, close to upgrading soon…

          • @donkeydoc: Wait for good deal :D do you feel any bottlenecks with 4670 + RX570 ? I got GTX1060 3GB and now it is kinda better with some games

            • +1

@bazingaa: I feel apex legends bottlenecks… I have adjusted all settings to low etc to make the game as smooth as possible but alas i think its time is coming…

So tempting to buy this but can't justify upgrading from my old trustie i7 4770k, literally have had 0 issues and do normal browsing, some video and photo editing, Gaming and still seems to perform for my needs.

Anyone know if this will be a huge jump from i74770k or worth upgrading?

    • +2

the 11gen is a huge jump in terms of video editing.

    • +14

As you have already mentioned, your needs are being fulfilled with your current equipment. So, I believe the question you should ask yourself is:
Will purchasing this deal bring you happiness?
and if you pass up this deal, will you feel regret later?

      Good luck with your decision.

    • +1

I went from a 6700k to a 5600x and the jump was huge. Cyberpunk for example went from 100% CPU causing stuttering to <50%.
Seems like I was CPU bottlenecked with my 2070, probably depends what GPU you have.

    • It'd probably future proof you for a while seeing how long the i7 4770k is lasting you

      • AMD was uncompetitive at that time and for years after so Intel had jack all progress.
Things will progress much faster now that there is real competition.

    • I was starting to bottleneck on a few games with that CPU, anno 1800 I think was my first big one.

But yeah it's an amazing cpu! I'd still be using mine now if the mobo didn't explode ¬¬

    • Depends on game but I've considered four cores inadequate for a gaming PC for some time now.

      • Depends. If your gaming at 4k max settings 4 cores is still sufficient to get the GPU near max load.

    • wait one more year, everything is about to change over to DDR5 Memory

      • If you're trying to be "price conscious" and thinking about DDR5 memory at the same time, you'll probably be waiting longer than a year. DDR5 will have a significant price premium for a number of years until economy of scale kicks in and brings down prices. If you were looking at something entry level like a i5 12400 (whatever that looks like), then you'd probably be plenty well served with DDR4 memory.

    • It's worth upgrading but 4770k is still rock solid CPU.

    • Likewise with my i5 4570 but what the hell. Will need to update at some point and the price is right.

    • You'd have to factor in the cost of DDR4 RAM too!

    • While you may think that, I had a 4790k overclocked to 4.5ghz 16gb DDR3 ram @ 2400mhz paired with a 1080ti on a 1080p/120hz monitor.

      I went from that to an i7-7700k with 16gb DDR4 @ 3200mhz ram.

In far cry 5, with the 4790k I was getting around 110-115 fps hovering on a mix of medium and some high settings.

With the 7700k @ stock I was hitting 120fps stable on ultra.

Huge difference which I didn't expect.

    • +1
      • that's a huge jump ….. in Cost to gain 23% faster.

Damn, I wish there was an ITX option :(

  • Will there be much benefit for gaming going from an 8400 Intel with a 1080 gfx ?? Thanks fam

    • Depends on what resolution you game at. 1080p you might get 10-15% increase at best (just spitballing), but 1440p+you’ll be GPU bound so prob won’t see much difference. TL:DR, no

      • Thanks dude !! I'm gaming at 3440 on a 34" so will pass

  • Great deal … but 12gen is coming out? what should I do????? help!

    • what you got now?

      • i5 4570 with a 1050ti - I know it's a big increase in performance but… apparently the 12 gen pricing won't be that bad.

        • yes because nobody wants intel

        • just pull the trigger mate, won't be upset for sure, there will always be something shiny and new around the corner. you'll likely need some new ram also I guess since you are rocking ddr3 still? can grab these to go with them https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/655764

12th gen will bring other higher costs with the change to ddr5 and new stock/cooler designs so take that into consideration when thinking about total upgrade costs.

    • +1

PC hardware always gets better for the $ over time. Except when it doesn’t.

      Does that help?

    • wait one more year, everything is about to change over to DDR5 Memory

  • +1

A steal for the price, personally have a 5600x and my brother's PC is running the 11400, for gaming I don't see much of a difference.

  • Just curious, what's an OEM model/OEM Tray version?

    • +2

I'm pretty sure it means it doesn't come with a cooler nor original packaging.

  • Bugger. Just bought the MB separately.

  • -2

Maybe buyer wants to do your homework. It is not slightly worse. 5600x is nearly 30% more powerful than this CPU overall and 10% more for single thread according to this. Not saying this CPU is no good, but it is no match to 5600x in terms of performance.

    • Depends on how you perceive 'slightly worse'. Most people won't be pushing these cards to notice the benchmarked difference, but I agree it is still notable.

  • Can someone help me.

11400 vs 11500 vs 11600? What's the best value out of these three?

    TIA

    • 11500 has slightly better clock speed and iGPU, at the same TDP, but 11600 is just too hot to cool for a 6 core CPU.

Without any significant deals on, I would say get a 5600X, otherwise this deal is too good to pass.

      • +1

        Thank you!

        So in terms of best value/perfomance, 5600x = 11500 > 11400?

Sorry for another question, at what price pt for a 5600x is considered as a 'good deal'?

        Thanks!

        • I would say, 5600x > 11500 > 11400, but this is only my opinion, you should search for some reviews from reputable sources.

  • Is it worth upgrading from 1600x to 11400?

    • You'd be better off going for a 3600 or 5600X if your motherboard can support it.

    • What's your motherboard model? If it's a B450 or above then you're better off with a 5600x

      • Thanks Mate, it is a B350, I want to upgrade to win 11

        • +1

Then yes it will be worth an upgrade!

  • Reminds me of the pre GST dates, from the point of packaging overseas, Ram CPU and MB packed together. Then comes in in a whole bloody container as 2nd hand cargo. Cash Cash all the way from wholesale to customer…..

  • Thanks OP.
My Aorus Pro from Futu got delivered this morning and it's already back in the post.
Weird but came in an SE box so maybe it's going back to the same place this new order is coming from.

    • Futu is shopping express' store

      • Sweet. I don't feel as bad now for stuffing them around. Thanks

  • I was considering this bundle since it has an iGPU to hold off buying a discrete GPU till prices comes down.

Unfortunately it’s a UHD750 which is significantly worse than any of the current AMD APU offering or the even a GT1030. If you’re not gaming or have access to a decently priced/performing GPU handy, this is a good deal IMO.

  • Thank you! Bought One.

Nothing wrong with mine currently running i5 8600k, however, recently got myself a RTX3070 which is too long for my existing case, need a new PSU (currently running 450w), so thought to myself, why not replace the whole thing :)

    • How much will you be selling your old system for? :)

      • +1

Honestly not sure yet, haven't had a chance to look at used market to see what's been going around for. XD

  • What I ended up going with for $557 all from SE. Will use my existing CPU H/S and PSU if they're up to the task, as well as my 1650 Super.

  • very tempting to upgrade from 6700k. Feeling the cpu bottleneck in new world with the rtx 3070 in town. Trying to just hold out for ddr5 and alderlake or next gen ryzen

  • I need a new motherboard/CPU/GPU to run photoshop and in design. Is this a good combo?

  • Cheers OP! Just bought this and the 16G G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 (Total $489), now I wait for an SSD deal patiently.

Currently running a 4790K and 1070ti, hopefully, the new ram and CPU can help me hold out long enough until the GPU price drop.

    • centrecom.com.au sale on now…WD green 480 GB NVMe @ $56…I bought 2 and so free shipping…BONUS!!

May be worth listing the deal…??

  • +2

Price has gone up to $399. Still a great deal but I think with 12th gen imminent and DDR5 on the horizon, there'll be better deals coming up.

  • Awesome service.
Normally a 2-3 day delivery for stuff from Sydney to me in regional NSW. Ordered yesterday arvo and arrived this morning.

  • PC dummy here, I've been wanting to upgrade my i3 7100 and MSI H101 PRO for a while. I only play dota and use Office, is this a worthwhile upgrade?

    • Well you are upgrading from 2c/4t to 6c/12t so a theoretical 3x multitasking performance. It is a big upgrade, but it sounds like you dont have a gpu and only do office work with a bit of casual gaming, good upgrade if you need it.

      • Thanks! I have 1050ti, would I be able to take advantage of this upgrade? The loading time into dota is kinda long at the moment

        • have you got an ssd? I would pbly upgrade as it is a big upgrade cpu wise

      • Just FYI, CPU performance also related to IPC (instructions per cycle), due to the generation gap, you will likely to gain more than 3X performance gain

  • What cooler does everyone here use with OEM CPUs that doesn't come with a cooler?

    • +1

U can use everything that can handle the TDP, but this CPU is rated for 65W at 2.4GHz all core, if you diable power limiter in BOIS (You should, as this will make it run 4.2GHz all core), it's true TDP is close to 120W. So you need a good cooler for it.

Check out this list of CPU cooler tiers, I wouldn't use anything tiers 6 and below: https://linustechtips.com/topic/891730-cpu-cooler-performanc…

      • The Cooler Master i71C doesn't even get a mention. May need to cancel that order. Looking for something cheap to tie me over til I go an i510 Elite case and water cooling.

  • Motherboard alone can be purchased for $129 with free shipping, or the "Elite" version for $109 - possibly worth a deal on its own?
