If u don’t need it urgently, wait for the back to school offer next January, u can get a free AirPods 3 (they will announce next week) plus potentially promotional 5% cashback

      • Been hanging out for the new MBP's which hopefully are announced next week.
Taking advantage of the flybuys deal + edu pricing should make the $ a little more bearable..

      • How would you get the 5% cashback?

        • Cashrewards sometimes have 5%, usually 1.5%

          • @Andrew Corry: Do they even allow you to use Apple credit to pay for hardware whilst receiving cashback?

            • @nightelves: Yes. I have done this.

              • @Hendot: Meaning they give you the cashback as well even if you pay using Apple credits?

                • @nightelves: TA recently confirmed that you can get cashback on eligible items if you use gift cards as a payment method.

                  • @WookieMonster: Wow that's solid. I'll be waiting for that then. Basically a double bonus.

                    • @nightelves: Wait for some cashback deals which bump up the rebate to 10%, even better.

                    • +2

@nightelves: basically you can stack all promotions and bring the $2500 mbp down to ~$1700

      • AirPods promotion is only for Mac and iPad right? Or have they offered it with purchase of iPhone (with the latest models also excluded from cashback)?

        • If this year’s promotion is anything to go by, iPhones would be excluded.

I had a look at the email I got from Apple for the back-to-uni promotion from the start of this year, and the offer terms and conditions do not list iPhones as an eligible product under the promotion.

  • Anyone know if you can use the Coles Myer giftcards to pay for these Itunes giftcards?

    • I’m assuming you mean the physical Coles Group & Myer gift cards, and not Coles digital gift cards? If so, yes.

  • What's the expiry duration for these gift cards?

    • +3

Apple gift cards have no expiry.

  • Have anyone received the flybuys point yet? Its usually delivered the next day, but not this time for me.

    • +1

Because it's not the evening yet when points show up in your account?

    • +4

Flybuys points earned from transactions at Coles are usually credited around 7pm Sydney/Melbourne time on the day after the transaction.

It may be credited an hour or two earlier or later than the time I have given, but it should be in your account by the end of tonight (in your case).

      • +1

I see. Thanks for detailed comments :)

          • @WookieMonster: Yes :) Its 29000 bouns + 1000 point for $1000.

            • +3

@ZYDMZ: Damn, I thought they would have awarded 30,000 bonus points and 1,000 standard points.

Good to hear you got your points though!

              • @WookieMonster: They probly just changed the game rule haha

                • +2

@ZYDMZ: I don’t think they changed the game rule on that one, I think a lot of us misinterpreted the offer.

Upon reflection, the offer is for 30x Flybuys points. The offer is not for 30x bonus Flybuys points (as I initially thought/hoped).

It also says in the offer:

                  • $50 = 1,500 Flybuys Points;
                  • $100 = 3,000 Flybuys Points;
                  • $200 = 6,000 Flybuys Points.

                  It does not say:

                  • $50 = 1,500 Flybuys Bonus Points;
                  • $100 = 3,000 Flybuys Bonus Points;
                  • $200 = 6,000 Flybuys Bonus Points.

Last week’s deal stated you get 2000 Bonus Flybuys Points when you buy a $50 or $100 Ultimate Gift Card. That means you got 50 standard Flybuys points and 2000 bonus Flybuys points on top if you bought a $50 Ultimate Gift Card.

                  It’s a subtle difference.

  • anyone know where to buy over $100 gift cards in sydney? cannot find any in south sydney. would be much appreciated!

    • +1

Coles Lane Cove had at least 10+ of the $100 options left, there were at least 3-5 variable ones too. This is about 45 minutes ago.

    • +1

Coles Roselands had good number $100 from memory - I was after the variable ones. This was before noon today.

thanks Ops mission accomplished, purchased $2k GC and bought the IP13 ProMax, pick up on Saturday (it was lucky that one spot came up and not needing to wait for 11/11 delivery). Happy Man.

Anyone can't purchase iphone online? It says my order is not eligible for the payment method (apple id amount balance) when placing the order. Called apple customer service and they said it's a system error and asked me to wait.

    • Did Apple solve this issue for you? Holding on adding my cards to my Apple account, might take them to an Apple Store instead.

      • Not yet. Tried it a few seconds ago.

    • How about today?

      • Still stuck at the last step.

      • +2

        UPDATE: They've solved the issue.

  • Has anyone received their points yet?

From the comments I've read, they are meant to land in the evening. I bought 3 cards yesterday morning and they aren't there yet…

    • +1

Land the next evening of your purchase, so you might see those in about 4-6 hours today

      • Ah cheers, I'll check tomorrow. It was an honest mistake on my side but gotta love how I got negged for it.

        • Perhaps because kindness (typing a few words of help) is harder than clicking a button (negging). I guess I will get a bit of red for this.

          • +1

@wordsmith: Yep must be the same gutless person haha Thanks again for your help, the points are in my account just like you said.

    • Points are in!

  • Confirmed my points are in!

  • did any one get short changed with FB Pts?

    I bought $1,500, got only 47,850 instead of 49,500

    • I’m confused, because it sounds like you received too many points.

The bonus points offer is for 30x points for every dollar you spend on Apple gift cards as part of this offer, but this is only applied to a maximum of five gift cards over the entire offer period. 1,500 x 30 = 45,000.

      • opps i meant i spent $1,650,

        • +2

Mine’s the same. You only get 30x total points (including the normal points), not 31x. So if you got $1650 of cards, you would get $1650 x 30 = 49500 points (including the 1650 points). 47850 + 1650 = 49500.

      • Looks like Mong below also got shortchanged 1,500 points

        1500 x 30 = 45,000 wheres screenshot shows 43,500

    • Same here!

  • Did anyone buy the full allowed $2500 worth of cards on their account?

    • Yes. Just got the points - 2500 standard points and 72500 bonus points for a total of 75000 points.

    • I bought 1850$ this morning only.

      • Just bought :)

  • Went to Coles Waterloo this afternoon and predictably nothing left. I only wanted a $50 or $100.

    • Did you check on the counter?

      • Yeah they don’t keep them there.

    • Worst coles in Sydney.

      • It’s my local, I don’t really have a problem with it. Why do you think it’s the worst in Sydney?

  • +1

Just got 5x $500 GC at the local = 2.5k.
    No issues, no questions.
Just the wait game though for points now.
As this is the equivalent to 15% off, does it get any better, especially for apple? Genuine question as I have never done the flybuys offers before..

    • +1

It hasn’t really been any better in Australia.

There have only been four bonus Everyday Rewards or Flybuys offers for Apple gift cards (including this offer) since Apple gift cards were introduced to Australia in July. All these offers have awarded you with 30x Everyday Rewards or Flybuys points for every dollar spent on Apple gift cards, which is equivalent to 15% of the value of the gift cards purchased given back to you in the form of Everyday Rewards or Flybuys points.

When Apple used to sell App Store & iTunes gift cards in Australia, they would sell them at an upfront discount of 15% or 20%. However, I think pigs will fly before Apple offers such a substantial upfront discount on Apple gift cards in Australia.

Considering how people are eating up these Apple gift card deals quickly when they only get 30x Everyday Rewards or Flybuys points per dollar spent and there are already no stock of gift cards at some Coles supermarkets, I think Apple would not feel obliged to increase it to 35x or 40x in future deals.

  • +6

FYI I bought from a few different store yesterday as they did not have variables, meaning more than 5 cards limit. However I got all my points accordingly to the amount bought, so 5 the limit applies per transaction not per flyby account 😁.

    • 5 the limit applies per transaction not per flyby account

If that is the case, you can buy more GCs as long as your accumulated points from this promotion is < 75K.

Could someone else please confirm this to be the case as well?

    • +1

Nice. However I suppose even if you could get past the 5-card limit per account, once you hit 75000 points you won’t be awarded any more points.

    • Thanks for confirming

    • This is the screenshot of it, just to confirm :)

      • +1

Seems like Flybuys is awarding 29x Flybuys points per dollar of the gift card. Based on the screenshot.

        • The total point is 30x => so 29x bonus + 1x standard point per transaction.

    • +1

I think it is a case of a lot of us (particularly me) misinterpreting the offer terms (again).

I mean, it does say this:

BONUS POINTS can be awarded more than once for each Gift Card type including different denominations of the same Gift Card but up to a maximum of 75,000 points can be collected per Flybuys account.

It normally says in that sentence for other deals the maximum number of gift cards you can purchase as part of the deal, but it doesn’t list a maximum number of gift cards in this sentence for this deal.

      It all makes sense now!

    • Thanks! I ended up using the missus FB account just to be safe, but it makes sense though if you read the T&Cs closely. I believe the 5 card limit in general has more to do with trying to mitigate the amount of scam victims out there. At the first Coles I went to I was stopped by two different ladies from buying 6 cards and lectured for a couple of minutes on scams and to make sure nobody else was making me buy the cards, and how I would not be able to take the 6 cards I wanted. I had to explain for another couple of minutes the reason I was getting them and they still didn't seem to believe me, but ended up taking 4 cards only. Tried a different Coles for the next batch of cards without issue, so it also depends on who's there checking.

  • +1

@WookieMonster What are the chances after spending $1500 in Apple GCs, my weekly offer limit will now go up to something crazy like $250? :-)

    • I thought it would have gone up to $300 or even $400!

      • I guess I will find out on Friday or next Tuesday.

        • +1

Yep. I’d be curious to know if there is a cap for minimum spend requirements. I’d like to think Flybuys would put in a cap of some sort, otherwise if someone bought $36,000 in gift cards as part of this deal, they would probably get a $2,000 minimum spend or something stupid.

  • Wow. I just made $232.50 in Flybuys points off this deal (they just came through!) Thanks OP!

    • How many fly~buddy you have ,lol?

      • I now have 51,218 points… I had about 4000 points before the megaton’s worth came through today!

  • Hello, anyone knows if i get one standard flybuys point per dollar spent on this apple gift card? say if i buy $2500 worth of apple gc, will i get 2500 flybuys pts after the purchase?

    • +6

As part of this deal, for each dollar you spend on Apple gift cards, you will get:

      • 1x standard Flybuys point, and
      • 29x bonus Flybuys points.

      Keep in mind:

      • You can only purchase a maximum of 5 Apple gift cards in a single transaction.
      • You will only get a maximum of 75,000 bonus points during this promotion.
      • $20 and $30 Apple gift cards are excluded from this deal.
      • There are no limits on the number of transactions as part of this deal.

Therefore, if you purchase $2,500 worth of Apple gift cards during this promotion, you will get 75,000 points. The points will only be credited to your account around 5pm Sydney/Melbourne time on the day after the transaction, so don't worry if you do not see the points immediately after your transaction(s).

      • +2

thanks mate ! its very helpful!

  • Can someone kindly let me know whether I can use Apple gift card at JB hifi to buy iphone?

    • +1

      No you can’t.

      • Oh… right… thank you for your help!😊

  • Wow. I bought $1500 GC and got 45000 flybuys points plus $150 back in rewards from zip. Going back to get $300 GC more if any left.

    • I did the same, such amazing value! Make sure you get another Flybuys account if you buy more. The deal is limited to 5 gift cards per Flybuys account.

      • +4

The deal is limited to 5 gift cards per Flybuys account.

        Not quite.

Multiple people yesterday bought more than five gift cards across multiple transactions and got 30x points on all the gift cards, so it's a limit of five per transaction, not five per account.

        • +1

Ohh! I was under the impression it was five per account. I guess the T&C wording is a bit ambiguous. But awesome, saves me a lot of time

      • +1

My $1500 gc were $100 each. But I did 5 transactions of 300 each and got all flybuys points

    • Can you confirm you purchased $1500 Apple GC's in store @ Coles and paid via Zip to get an extra 10% back ($150) ?
If so, I'll be trying this out today..

      • +1

Yes I bought a total of $100 cards. 3 cards in each transaction to get maximum $30 reward. So total of 5 transactions

        • Ok, thanks!
How does it appear in Zip? Is it just -10% what you spent ie $900 to be paid off for $1000 spent?

          • @stuarty9: It appears in your Rewards section. It says you have earned $30, which you can redeem immediately if you wish to, which in turn reflects in your Zip balance. The transaction itself appears for the full amount.

            • @dcypher: Ok, thanks.
So just to confirm you can take that reward amount ie $100 off the balance owing on your zip acct? Does it come up straight away? I plan on paying out the owing amount immediately so would it show $1000 then $100 reward balance, meaning $900 owing?
              Cheers.

              • +1

@stuarty9: Correct, it takes off the amount from the owing balance straight away.
