  • Has anyone else had an issue with these headphones where they won't turn on but ANC button turns on etc.?

    • I have the BH90 and if you leave them on, ANC button is on, but it looks like the headphones do not respond and seem to be "hibernating". I have to turn them off and on again to use them.

    • +1

Yeah I had that. Returned to Amazon for refund. These are decent enough headphones but the random "I'm going to stop working after 3 weeks" issue doesn't look good

    • +1

Yeah, had them for 8 months before they wouldn't turn on. I got a full refund from Amazon as well.

    • +1

yeah i had the dead button too, think it was around 10 month mark for me, full refund through Amazon as well

    • I have had the BH085 for over a year now, I had a different model before that which broke and they sent me the 085 as a replacement under warranty.

They're great headphones for the price point and I have zero connectivity issues with the Bluetooth USB dongle plugged into my desktop PC.

The only thing that I've noticed with these is that if you leave the ANC switch on but turn the headphones off, the batteries drain very quickly.

It's really weird, I can't understand why this happens. The blue ANC light stays lit even when the headphones are off, but if they're off - why is the battery draining?

I just make sure now I switch off ANC when I switch off the headphones and then I get good battery life.

      • +1

You can use the ANC feature without them being turned on - that's why. Think of it as a hard switch independent of the actual use of the headphones, and will drain the battery accordingly.

        • +4

Ah, so if my kids are screaming I could just walk around the house with the headphones on my head, ANC enabled but powered off and not listening to anything but faint kids screaming?

          • +2

@bonezAU: Exactly! Or sleeping on a plane, etc.. And I'd imagine you get a fair bit more battery life out of it in that use case, but haven't tested!

      • Does this headphone connect to multiple devices at the same time? Thanks

      • Hey @bonezAU - What bluetooth dongle do you use?

I have an APTX bluetooth dongle (but not TT branded) that works on my old headphones, but doesn't work with my TT headphones

        • +1

It's a China cheapo from eBay, no brand name on it but it shows up in Windows as a Broadcom BCM20702 Bluetooth 4.0 USB device.

      • +2

Me too. I had mine for 8 months then one day wouldn't turn on. After 2 weeks, I got a replacement and so far, fingers cross, still working. Tempted to get another one because it's a pretty decent headphone but worry about warranty now that it sells through AliExpress

    • I have the same issue right now, happened few days ago, bought more than a year and half ago. Don't know if they do something about it.

    • Yep, had 2 and both had this problem.
Sun Valley replaced the first one no problem.
Amazon giving me a refund on 2nd as they were since kicked off their site.

      • Was it after the warranty period?

        • No, got them almost a year ago.

    • Yes, mine just started doing this a few days ago.

    • I had the BH085 and really liked them but after 6 months they just wouldn't turn on
I rang Amazon and asked where could I get them fixed …… but Amazon said to send them back and they refunded the $

  • +4

Isn’t this the company that got banned from Amazon?

    • Oh what? I thought they were a good company?

      • +11

They are just one of thousands of brands that got banned by Amazon for paid reviews.

Yes they are actually a fairly decent brand but fake and paid reviews was one of their ways of making their brands more visible / favourable by the Amazon algorithm

        • +1

Ah! I totally missed when that must’ve went down. Explains why I haven’t seen them all over my Amazon page for ages! I wonder if they’ll just re brand and start again. Thanks (:

        • +1

I actually know a guy who was randomly contacted via Facebook and this company sent him a different pair of TaoTronics headphones for free if he did a positive review, so that explains why they were banned.

          • @bonezAU: Oh that’s bad then. I’m happy Amazon are doing these things though, I’ll take most reviews on Amazon with a grain of salt, just don’t trust them anymore .

    • +1

Yes, they are good company but the reason they got banned by amazon is due to them provide incentive to users to leave an amazon review (can be good or bad) in exchange for gift cards, and this violated amazon term and condition.

      • Huh. Never got asked to leave a review in exchange for gift cards, I guess they might have started doing this after I ordered my pair from them around 4 years ago.

      • Yeah So little cards in order that give you 5% off your next purchase if you leave a review is against amazons terms?

      • Their wireless earbuds are excellent for workouts / exercise, got the sound liberty 79s from an Ozbargain post early 2020 for like 50 bucks

  • I have looked at reviews, and the noise cancelling seems to be pretty bad… Also the headset is said to feel terrible in terms of quality…

    • In my experience, ANC obviously isn't top quality, considering the price. About half as good as the QC35II's ANC or the Sony XM3's ANC. The build quality however, hasn't been too bad; my earcups have been going strong after nearly 5 years of heavy usage, and no signs of wear at all. I was actually quite pleased with the build quality of my pair of TaoTronics headphones. I paid ~$60 or so.

    • +1

Mine is 2yo and I find them really decent. Don't except high end quality ad I use the ANC for working near noisy machineries.

They probably filter out 75% of the noise but for the price, very decent pair. Was thinking of getting another.

      Thank you OP.

This review been brought to you by Taotronic and the letters A N and C.

    • Yeah I think for the price these are basically the best ANC Bluetooth headphones you can get fr. In my opinion they sound great and if you like a good amount of bass but not extreme you'll like em. Can't compare these with $300 headphones.

    • just to echo the sentiment of the entire thread. these are awesome entry level especially for the price.

      • Yeah I use these to watch the telly in bed. Also while mowing the lawn. Good value.

        • Do you use a bluetooth transmitter from the TV? If so, what brand/ model? The Aptx version I have doesn't work on my BH 55s

          • @tunzafun001: I use a no-name from ebay on my TV. Heaps of background hissing, if you like that sort of thing.
Tao did a range of transmitters, but they disappeared just at the time I was going to buy one to try it out. I see now that they are sold at AliExpress, if you're game. Some have APTx.

I use one of these on one PC https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002525602325.html?spm=a2…
which works surprisingly well with my BH046s. Cost a couple of dollars. APTx? can't tell for sure - maybe? nah.

Other wise I use TPLink Blutooth adapter on one of my other PCs and it works perfectly with my BH085s, albeit it's a BT4 adapter.

          • @tunzafun001: I use Bluetooth from the little Android box connected to the telly that I have to watch streaming services, not the actual telly itself. (I have a smart TV but don't use its smarts - I use the Android box.)

  • +4

I have this set and really like them - no real negatives to share

And I didn’t even get an Amazon gift card to share those thoughts!

  • I use these headphones pretty much every day for going to the shops and I prefer them for running now as well. Never use the noise cancelling as I never need it but I think these are a great budget option.

  • +3

Can't tell if all the reviews here have been paid by taotronics or good headphones 😂

    • -1

I guess try them for yourself next time they go on sale on Amazon and return them if you don't like them.

      • +2

        Amazon banned them already.

        • Oh lol I thought they banned Tatronics as a seller, didn’t realise they banned the product. But I can see all the resellers are gone too now, my bad.

  • +1

Is anyone using these with Chromecast w/Google TV.

Im using Edifiers which work well for the most part but the audio starts to cut out a bit when there is a lot of audio going on.

    • Hmm idk about Chromecast but i used it to watch movies on my pc via Bluetooth and it didnt cut out at all, and the audio bitrate was quite high

    • Yep use it nightly. Perfect.

  • How is the microphone on this?

    • +1

Pretty soft. I get people complaining that I seem very far away.
Other than that, decent headphones and good value for money. ANC is rudimentary, just on and off, It filters out most noise in an office environment.
Battery life is about 20 hours with ANC on. It has USB-C which is handy, and I get 1 hour of charge in 10 mins if I forget to recharge.
Build quality is much better than expected of this price range.

  • +2

Horrible price for China delivery. When this product was on Amazon it was Prime as well making it super fast delivery. Says here: Estimated Nov 4th which is probably more likely December 4th.

    • +2

So you going to post a deal with a better price?
When they were on Amazon they were about 20% more.
Sure, delivery is going to be long in comparison.

  • -3

bought these when they were on Amazon

    returned because they are crap

    pass.

    • And your nomination for something better at anywhere near this price point is?…

      • -3

my advice is save a bit of money and get something decent instead.

I got Sennheiser 458BT from their outlet for $149 minus 15% AmEx cashback, for example. $126.65 and you got yourself decent performing BT5.0 ANC cans with local warranty

if you are bent on getting BT 5.0 and ANC at this price point, get the Elite model from Kogan instead. at least you can send that back for a refund with ease. trust me, I did just that.

you get what you pay for, that's the reality. I tried to get a good device on the cheap, but they are just money wasted.

        • +1

          Interesting. I have 2 BH-085's, a BH-090, and… a Sennheiser 458BT and between them all I easily prefer the 85.
(Also have Sony XM3's in the house but there's zero chance of me prying those off my son's skull!)

          • @McFly: really? ANC on 085 was hit and miss for me, it was adding unpleasant sensations in my ears (like sucking air out of the ear, yuck) and affecting the quality of music

not to mention that it was making "ticking" noises when I was walking

that was an instant no thank you and a return. never encountered anything like that in more expensive brands like Sony or Sennheiser or Jabra.

Wasn't keen to try another unit

            • +1

@shabaka: Sounds like it might have been faulty.

              • @McFly: my point exactly. do I want to wait forever for another faulty unit to arrive from China?

do I want to spend forever returning the faulty one and getting my money back?

my time is worth more than this useless piece of plastic if they can't get quality control right

one time I give them a chance and what do I get? nothing but disappointment

                why even bother!

                • @shabaka: Anything can break any time from the minute it's created to the time it's crushed/melted down/worn out.

Whether it's worth buying something from overseas is another issue.

          • @McFly: Agreed, same experience with wireless taotronics vs sennheisers

  • +3

I enjoy mine. For the price they are absolutely good enough for me and cheap enough to give to my son and not be too annoyed if he breaks it

    • Does this headphone connect to multiple devices at the same time? Thanks

      • Yes. It remembers multiple devices and can have them connected, but only one audio stream plays at any one time.

        • Thanks

  • +1
    • +2

BT4.1 and micro-USB and more expensive. Nope.

  • How does the ANC compare to the Mobvoi Tickasa?
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/653274
I was kinda disappointed with the AnC on that.

  • +1

Been using BH090 for over a year now with no complaints. Granted that these are not Sony's or Bose's but for the price point they are worth every penny. BH085 has USB-C which is an advantage as I can use same cable as my cellphone for charging.

  • +1

Have had these for about a year. EXCELLENT! Use them every night with my TV! I did have one pair replaced however when the power button stopped working (as others above).

  • +1

    2 x bh094, 1 x Bh053 and 1 x bh090. All do the job just fine for me including the ANC.

Happy with all pairs, never been offered money for a review. 😕

  • Don’t know about this particular model but I have Tt-045 and in all honesty they have been one of the best headphones I’ve ever owned, I’ve treated mine so badly had them I think since 2017. I ran over them with my computer chair at one point and both speakers broke off from headband, I used superglue and duct tape to hold them together and till this day they’re still going and I use them every day, will purchase another one once this one dies

  • Mine broke just days after return window closed on Amazon. Now the power button doesn't work and these won't turn on.

    • You can chat with Amazon they may refund you if faulty.

  • I have this I feel not comfortable for me.

    • Can you elaborate? There are so many reviews saying it's comfortable but I've learnt to be careful with headphones (mostly clamping force making my head dizzy after 1-2 hrs)

      • (mostly clamping force)

This, I have to stress it wider a bit but still not comfortable enough for me, may be just me. That is why I am a bit hesitate to try Boss QC35

  • I have the BH036. In less than a year of light usage, the headband which is of brittle plastic material broke. I had to use electrical tape to bind it together.. It is still usable but looks 💩 now. Noise cancellation is ok.
