I got this Laptop yesterday ( As a prize ;) ). The First Impression, It is very light, lighter than my MacBook. The display is quite good, and the matte screen is good against reflection. Yes, there is a bit of fan noise, but with this form factor, it's expected. Facial recognition is excellent, works every time, the sound quality is impressive, and you will need a dongle. Luckily for me, my Satechi Macbook dongle works with it, so as the charger :). My opinion is at this price range; it's a bloody good laptop. Get one :)

    • Yeah it's far from perfect but for the price it's great, have to spend a lot more to get better. Battery life is a fraction of what they claim, keyboard and touchpad are just average and the screen really could be brighter. But overall for a grand you won't find a better unit.

    • dongle?

        Satechi USB-C Slim Multi-Port

        • Are these the ozb go-to port? Do they go on sale much?

    Unable to pickup or delivery!

I have an Acer swift 14, similar in weight but the battery sucks. I've only had it for a year and battery degradation has been insane even though I don't use it that often. It'll hit 20% and just die. Is this better?

    • Battery is of same capacity I guess 48wh vs 50wh. Lithium-ion battery will deteriorate faster if kept on 100% all the time. Second thing is no. of empty-to-full charge cycles. if you take care of not going these extremes then it will last a lot longer. Under normal everyday use after 5 years the battery capacity can go down to around 60% of rated capacity if not faulty.

This laptop will perform 20-30% better than your swift because of newer processor and electronics when it was new assuming your swift was 3-4 years old. If you are satisfied with your swift except for the battery then I suggest you to try replacing the battery for under $100. All you need is 30min youtube, a screw driver/s and finger nail or guitar pick.

  • OOS. Will Officeworks ,JB or HN price match?

  • +2

Called up the store as online purchase was not getting through…guess what….its already out of stock!!

  • OW won't price-match because it's a clearance product…

  • There is some in Brisbane for those that are chasing one

  • Just noticed this has no USB port (only USB C) - I assume a little adapter or a dock is the solution.

    • +1

Yes cheap type-c to type-a adapters you can get for sub $1 works fine for most usb2.0 peripherals. For usb3.0 speeds you can get adapters too for $5 range. Cheap type-c to hdmi converters also work fine for external monitors.

  • Bunch of useless pricks at the good guys. I would have brought this, but been checking my cart all day and not once did it show in stock within 500ks..

  • I bought one of these about 4 mths ago in the officeworks deal for about $990 .. i5 .. 16Gb RAM.

    Screen is pretty average.
    Keyboard is pretty average.
    Works great with linux.
Webcam and microphone are excellent quality.

Not bad for the price but should have got either (a) the LG Gram 14" at one of the regular JB sales for about $1300 or (b) a touchscreen flip.

  • Trying to checkout but says this:

"There isn't a store within 500km that has your order in stock. Please select delivery, or try a different postcode or suburb."

    Any help people?

    • +1

      Oos, try pricematch elsewhere maybe

      • "Clearance items won't be price matched."
That's what Harvey Norman guys said

        • +1

That sucks to hear. At least you gave it a go!

  • Hey to all those who bought, not sure it’s a big deal but check your warranty;
    https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/au/en

One I picked up today says <3 months warranty left on site above.

Also just wondering did you get an actual invoice on pickup? The guy just handed me the laptop (suppose I have the PayPal receipt..)

oh i figured the first part out:
