Wow guess OzB really hates Rick n Morty references….

Morty! Boom! Big reveal: It worked lol

Imagine using Ubereats to deliver groceries when you pay 200% mark up on normal grocery prices?

    • +1

Imagine not buying A2 baby formula for $22.50 a can ($38 rrp)

      • +7

        I don't have a baby

        • +4

let's make one or adopt so we can take advantage of 50% code.

        • I don't have an imagination.

        • Then make some

        • -3

          Send it to China

        • Do you have a can?

Woolworths Metro are on Uber Eats now and are barely any more. Service and delivery fees though might make this not worth it.

      • W Metro (in Melb at least) generally have 10% higher prices than a standard Woolworths store, except for catalogue specials, which are the same.

        • Yeah for me they are the same as Woolies Metro in store, which is around 10% as you say.
          On a $30 shop with $3 delivery and $3 service fees, would be 30 x 0.9 = $27 to shop at standard Woolies. Or can get it delivered for 30 x 1.1 = $33 x 0.5 = $16.5 + $6 = $22.50

Obviously the more you spend, the more worthwhile it becomes as service fees cap but discount doesn't.

    • +2

I just did an order from IGA and the $12 chook had $8.99 on it when it arrived…

      • +18

This happens to new cars too, as soon as they leave the lot, they depreciate in value.

        • +4

Is a poultry result to be honest

      • That’s fowl.

  • Amazing! Thanks!

  • +8

My IGAs jacked prices by 20% recently to an amount that it's going to be hard to find bargains.
This is a convenience offer more than a bargain for many items.

I would highly recommend double-checking before pulling the trigger as I'm more than happy to save money and click collect with supermarkets

    • +7

I just checked my local IGA for pricing comparison. $5 for 2 liter Fanta, in store it is $2 when I buy. Then add the $4.99 delivery then add the service fee of anywhere between $2 to $4.
Pretty sure you can shop online with the store itself and save a ton of money whilst getting cheaper delivery, well just checked online and it is free delivery.
So 1.25 liter Fanta with Uber is $4 IGA online is $1.57, you don't haff to be a maff scientist to see the savings even with a bogus 50% o ff coupon.

      • +2

Cheers! Not only have you provided me some nostalgia with the username but you've highlighted a way I don't need to pop into the supermarket today.

That's really helpful, I appreciate that

    • Some IGA have their own online shop and deliver through doordash.
Free delivery more than $50 and you can buy their normal shop price with weekly sale price.

  • +1

    No pickup…. Not interested

  • 50% off grocery DELIVERY or grocery ORDERS? very different meanings

    • Grocery orders - thanks will update description

      • -1

        Offer terms say delivery only.

  • +7

Inflated prices, no pickup. No Thanks.

  • +15

For what it's worth, there's a Woolies Metro nearby that not only has standard (in store) prices on Uber eats, they also have in store specials on there too.
We have got a ton of meat to stock our freezer for very cheap. Very happy

    • Yes just discovered the same and was about to share! My local metro doesn't seem to have any sale items but on the bright side, it seems to have plenty of meat items that are temporarily out of stock online.

      • Oh they don't have the cheapo milk and the A2 stuff is about 90 cents dearer, but the 50% off more than compensates for that if a bunch of stuff is purchased.

        • And limited to 25 items

          • @eloque: And suddenly no longer accepting orders

            • +1

@eloque: Manged to bypass that though. Only prob was they had run out of a bunch of stuff, mainly meat. Copped some grass-fed beef at least. Stop talking to yourself BTW. Okay.

              • +2

@eloque: Well, I hope you got a decent haul. We did 2 orders for enough meat for a couple of months, I reckon.
They also forgot a bag of veggies and nappies and various things, and refunded the cost of those items before 50% off, so we did well.

                • +1

@theguyrules: Nice one! In the end I got about $60 worth of groceries and it kinda felt like $60 worth when putting it into the fridge etc. but I double checked and yeah it was apparently worth $120 (including delivery and service charges, iirc). Apparently I saved $70 in total - $50 with the deal and $20 worth of sales prices that I was only made aware of once they were in the cart - bonus.

Pretty satisfied. I must have at least 6 frozen pizzas worth up to $10 each normal price, which makes me realize I probably did okay although i usually look out bargains on Coles anyway. And apart from not getting Flybuys there was no big loss - even though I recently signed up for Coles Plus, I didn't miss out on free delivery because I spent under $100 and I was able to get groceries delivered on the same day, something I haven't been able to swindle with Coles.

I didn't have to walk to the servo to get milk! They do have an awesome deal with 2 x 2 litres for $5.50 but with this deal I think I got 3 for $4.50 or something and it's obviously better quality milk.

Well done with the meats. I was defs too slow to spot and hop onto this deal to be as lucky but nice to know that others scored. Oh and the full price refund too - the universe is treating you well indeed.

  • +2

Wow!! This is insane for Woolworths metro.

  • +4

The Reject Shop is pretty good to combine with this - they're classified as a grocery store, lol.

    • -1

      Reject is only on doordash

      • +2

My local store is on UberEats, so it must differ depending on the store?

        • Ah Canberra? You guys have everything different…

The main shop online link on the Reject Shop site points to DoorDash…

          https://www.rejectshop.com.au/doordash

          Nothing on Uber in Melb.

    • +1

I could select one from the Groceries section but then the promo code didn’t work.

    • Think Carlingford Reject Shop in Sydney is on Uber Eats.

95% of them are on Doordash though.

  • $4 avo lol

  • +1

There's one near me selling rapid antigen tests, wonder how that will go down with 50% off

    • +2

      Hopefully negative?

    • +1

Got the antigen test for $40 from UberEats, tested positive, claimed "affected by COVID-19" fund $1500, whilst full sick leave pay from work, $1460 gain.

  • +1

The Woolies metro near me has some stuff without the markup like Bickfords cordial, Ingham chicken tenders, etc.

    • +3

The Woolies in my app has prices below those currently in store. This is a great deal!

      • All of the things on Metro near me are higher & even specials are ignored

        Jalna Greek Yoghurt
        Normally $7.50
        Special this week $5.50
        Metro on Uber $9

        Gtfo with these platforms

        • -1

You don't seriously expect catalogue specials to be on UberEats do you…? 10IQ ozbargainer if you do

  • +1

50 percent off with 100% markup on everyday items on ubereats. No thanks.
Got strawberries for $3.50 yesterday. Ubereats is $7, so you still pay significantly more with 50 percent off with the ridiculous service and delivery fees

    • +2

Funnily enough strawberries seemed like the only good value item for me from Woolies Metro, $4.50 not great without discount but at 50% off was the first thing I added to my cart. Then had to cancel as there was nothing else

  • I think if you signup for Uber pass trial you can save on delivery fees too…

    • Does it work for ww? I have joined yet but when I did a dummy order for IGA it said save on delivery with Uber pass etc , but when I did a Woolies order it didn’t give me that message.

  • +1

Offer expires midnight tomorrow night (11:59PM AWST Monday).

  • +2

Thanks, used it to stock up packed meats from nearby Woolies

  • +5

This is not bad. Bought $200 of groceries for $100 +$7 for delivery.
Prob would be around $140 at Coles I guess.

  • Was shopping half way and my local WW metro got removed :(

    • +4

Wait for a while happened to me, once they have driver again, it will be back online

  • +3

Prices are a joke. Even with a free delivery offer from a local IGA at 50% off it is still cheaper for me to buy in store.

  • +2

Just jumped on this to fill the pantry and freezer.

Have a woolies metro nearby, many items were already on special and the discount applies. This seemed like quite a good deal.

  • +8

Warning to others, last IGA 50% off deal we had they incorrectly charged me. The coupon applied fine and I was initially only charged the agreed discounted amount and then maybe an hour later an additional charge (at no point ever authorised) on my bank card for the 50% total which was meant to be paid for by the coupon. I went to uber eats and tried explaining the situation multiple times only for them to send generic bot-like response and no resolution to the problem before closing off the ticket each time. By now I was fed up and went to the bank and they reversed the charge but now anytime I log onto uber eats it wont let me use the app until I pay for the amount and they also removed the coupon ever being used from the receipt though I have email proof of the order and coupon. Anyway thats my story.

    • +2

That's really concerning, glad the bank supported you on this.

  • +1

Stacks with additional 30% off sweets/ice cream promotion I'm seeing so that's $4.20 for a 1L tub of Connoisseur at my local IGA. Comparing prices with Woolies and Coles a lot of other items I can see are cheaper delivered despite the higher base prices.

    • +1

Ha, I got a 30% off fruit and vegetables promotion - probably for the best!! Also stacks.

  • +2

Thanks OP. Amazing discount on meat that never go on discount, at Woolworths Metro.

There’s a limit of 25 items per order so we picked out the larger value items like 1kg bag of avocados rather than going for individual ones.

    • +1

The coupon is good for multiple orders FYI :)

  • +2

Just saw the prices, my god they are jacked up

    $7 for milk @ IGA
$7.80 for corned beef @ woolies metro

Edit: some prices are the same as woolies instore. For example: Frozen mango, woolies brand is $4.90 and in Uber its the same price… i guess you have to keep comparing….

  • Everything at my ww metro showing as 'currently unavailable '

    • +1

which store/area? I know someone from WW who can check.

      • +1

North Melbourne. All good for me, I got some muscle chef from iga at $6 each

  • +3

    excellent pickup - thanks!

and thanks for all the tips - stocking up on WW meat, especially the 1kg lean beef mince!

  • +2

This was good… The Reject Shop was a retailer in the grocery section of Uber Eats for me (Canberra), and the code made all of their homewares etc 50% off. Cheers!

  • +1

Even with jacked up pricing great find op.

    • You just don’t get it. As the other person saying, some items are not jacked up and will never get discounted 50% from major supermarket eg. minced meat.

      • I've only got servos and one IGA on my list that's what I was referring too. I didn't realise Woolies was an option for some..

  • Had two dollars delivery from my local IGA…. Midway adding items to cart the outlet is unavailable, yet two different 7 dollar delivery locations are available.

  • -8

Cheaper to order directly from woolworths

    • Im seeing some pretty good deals around me.

      Chicken breast $7/kg

    • Not really, everything I ordered was 50% off from the already everyday low price and ordering directly from Woolies wouldn’t ever get that cheap.

  • my local woolies is 10% jacked, so I wonder if I'm still better off with all the delivery and service fees

    • Did a calculation here, you should still be better off using this deal

Only problem is if they're out of stock of most things due to everyone using code.

  • Based on my own experience and the comments in this thread, Woolworths seems to be the best place to take advantage of this.

I found some things were jacked (but not 200%) though fresh meats seem to all be the same as the in-store price. Factoring in fees, i'm still saving quite a bit on my weekly shop even though i'm buying for a household of 1. If you're a family of 3+ and you're buying a fair bit of meat and/or buying in bulk to freeze, theres some big savings to be made.

  • Who loses out here?

    • +1

      Coles

  • My Woolworths order got cancelled 😞

No half price 🥩 for me

    • For what kind of reasons???

      • First delivery driver cancelled then Uber couldn't find another one.

        • does ur code still work?

          • +1

@Homr: It's unlimited (can order as many times as you want).

            • @Haliax: Are you sure? it says one per order

  • +2

Thanks OP. We had a woolies metro in our area, focused on higher value meats and cross-checked everything purchased was the same price in-store. Including delivery fees ended up ~45% off a range of stuff that doesn't go on special.

Our woolworths metro is now "not accepting orders"

    • +1

Just try to reload again. It showed me once before, after few minutes later, it works again

      • +1

Oh thats interesting, I'll see if it comes back. My order worked though, just got notification its on its way!

  • +2

Thanks OP, amazing deal. "Saved" around $80 on the shop from IGA, but in reality saving was around $50-60 when comparing to in-store prices. Prices are higher but some categories are not too bad, eg dairy. so savings are real if you buy the right items, especially items that typically don't go on sale. 4kg Heat Beads Briquettes were $6 after 50% off, most supermarkets sell for $10 in-store
