    But, I have already used the trial code, a few months ago.
    Does anyone know if just signing up for one month, and paying, and then upgrading will work?

    I'd make a new account but I would be afraid of losing all the hard work I've done in matching video details/covers, etc.

    Been using Plex for a few months now. (Was using Emby for ages on my old HTPC but that's been shelved as the PC was getting way old and physically didn't get the WAF in the lounge).

    I've got it running on my old arsed Qnap NAS, and only use it to store/stream my shows and movies locally. (To my Xbox's and on my Shield).
    Is there any real reason to get the paid version?? (I don't bother with offline use/mobile playing/sync, etc)…

    Sorry to be that guy, but I have a Plex server, but I can't see any real advantage for me upgrading to a paid one. All I can see is if I want to share my server with other people's accounts which I don't currently do. Is there any other reason I would want to upgrade it?

      It organises your media into neat libraries, tracks views, transcodes on the fly if the source bitrate is higher or a different format than the device/network can handle….
      BUT it does those things for free…Plex Pass just doesn't really add enough for me to justify the price.

      It's heaps better, try it you will never go back. Just the UI alone is worth changing to Plex let alone all the other features, some of which are mentioned by tdh99 below.

    Keen to get some feedback from people who have used this…
    Currently I have video files I use with my Synology nas dropped in the Video station folder/function and I can stream the videos via the Video station app whether it's on phone or TV (via Nvidia Shield).

    Will there be any benefits using Plex instead?

      Much better UI, heaps more features.

      I'm running it on a Synology NAS with Nvidia Shield as the main client (also phone, Windows desktop app, web browser).

      Just install Plex Media Server on the NAS and try it out. I doubt you'll go back to the Synology video station.

          No, the free version is fine.

          This Plex Pass gives extra features like hardware transcoding, skip intro, live TV and DVR which auto-removes ads (if you have a network tv tuner), download for offline viewing (which still keeps track of what you've watched/where you're up to etc.).

          IMO Plex Pass is worth it for this price, never seen it this low.

        Better playback in general, infuse handles subtitles much better as well. I’ve got an Apple TV and infuse doesn’t transcode anything, everything direct plays even lossless audio. It also plays DV for MKV files

      This worked for me.

      Already used the free month code and cancelled, so had to add the monthly subscription again, but looked like it was going to add 29.99TRY but because you already have a free month it doesn't charge you.

      Then go through and add the lifetime subscription via the upgrade link.

      At first it looked like it didn't want to take the promo code but tried again in another browser and it worked.

      $70.10 via Bankwest.

      Please see my comment above.
      When you start a month trial and cancel it. Go to subscription and and do the upgrade.
      Please note it will a different page than the first one. Chose lifetime, apply the code and enter CC information. Then, change the country and enter your local australian post code (doesn't matter)

      At this point, you will still see the amount in australian dollers. Don't worry about it. when you press next, you will see a summary of order which will show updated price based on Turkey (you havn't been charged yet). Accept and go next to convert to lifetime.

    Long time Plex user.
    Plexamp personally got me back into buying music again, and I am a huge supporter of Plex and everything they do.

    Don't pay attention to the haters saying plex has lost focus or are shutting down, they have invested huge time in cleaning source code (something Jellyfin is still years away from completing), adding new features, and finding new revenue steams (free TV) so they can continue to support their eco system.

    If you don't like the idea of paying a subscription for something you will never own, and can't stand watching big streaming companies rip off small artists, then move to self hosting.

            @settings: First step are you referring while renewing for lifetime subscription( in case you cancelled and now upgrading) or 1 month? For one month it should not give that error as that is like free for one month and nothing get charged on your card. It is just like a gateway for next transaction when selecting lifetime subscription without cancelling initial 1 month subscription.

              I appreciate your comment though, as it validates that it's still be working for some.

              And that I'm saving money if I can't get this working. Haven't had a need for Plex thus far.

              Edit: Whelp, managed to get this working.

              I followed OP's method but encountered an error at the last step (card not matching country code error).
              Went to Account and looked at the Billing. It had my card (Up bank) details pre-filled with the country code set to Turkey.
              I switched the details to my Wise card and I managed to successfully upgrade the subscription to Lifetime after entering the 25% off code.

              Essentially what worked for me was through the Account settings page.

    If you are getting the country error, try to change to a monthly plan using Turkey as the card country (without the coupon code).

    It won't charge you whilst still in the trial.

    Then upgrade to the lifetime, it worked for me.

      Worked for me
      1. Sign up for 1 month trial with any of the codes and Aus CC, Aus as the country.
      2. Cancel subscription.
      3. "Upgrade" to 1 month trial without coupon code, change CC country to Turkey (You won't be charged, you're already on a free month).
      4. Upgrade to lifetime using Coupon code "LIFETIMEOFCOMFORT".
      5. Profit.
