Plex Pass Lifetime TRY₺617,24 (~A$69.66)

5780
AD-ONEMONTHLIFETIMEOFCOMFORT

No need for a VPN, simply apply two codes from previous deals and change the card country.

  1. Go to https://plex.tv/subscription and purchase a monthly subscription for free by using the code "AD-ONEMONTH" from https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/649435

  2. Go to https://plex.tv/subscription, and cancel the subscription.

  3. Go to https://plex.tv/subscription, upgrade subscription; Enter the code "LIFETIMEOFCOMFORT" from https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/665533
    Select Turkey from the country, don't worry about the postcode, Aussie postcode works fine;
Click next and it will redirect you to the payment confirmation page.

  4. On the confirmation page, double-check the amount to pay is ₺617,24 TRY, click next to pay.

Just paid with my Macquaire debit card, ₺617.24 TRY charged for $69.66 AUD

Update

For those having Selected country does not match Credit Card country errors, try this alternative procedure by cnwhite82

  1. Go to https://plex.tv/subscription and purchase a monthly subscription for free by using a free month code "AD-ONEMONTH or HDHR01MONTH or TECHWITHBRETT30" - Make sure you put in your CC details with the country code of turkey.

  2. DON'T CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION

  3. Go to https://plex.tv/subscription, select upgrade subscription; Enter the code "LIFETIMEOFCOMFORT" and use the same credit card as step 1.

Update:

If you are still getting a wrong country error after tried the above step, you can also try this method mentioned by gamerkonks https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11398973/redir

If you are getting a "Code not valid" error, please make sure you are NOT using a VPN and try to repeat the steps in browser's incognito mode

      • I don't know how you figured this out but am very grateful you did! $73.50 ANZ 8)

      • Adding the second free month code to get around the CC authorisation worked for me. Finally managed to get it to work. Thank you so much @gamerkonks - really appreciate the walkthrough.

Revolut disposable CC came to $70.83AUD.

      • This method worked for me but in step 3 where you said "Upgrade" to 1 month trial without coupon code", it kept giving me error about invalid credit card type, until I entered the second coupon code for free month HDHR01MONTH.

      • This was the only way I could use my CC, thank you!!!

      • At Step 3, should I see "Add Recurring Billing" at the top? And shows total of 29.99 TRY? Do I just ignore that?

        • Yeah, because when you upgrade to lifetime, you won't have reoccurring billing.

          • @gamerkonks: Yep, I’ve gone ahead and under Payments it shows just that lifetime amount as In Review. Thanks!

      • this one worked

    • +3

Finally worked for me (no other methods did) - big thanks!

  • Really glad I got this. I still watch live tv for some aus shows like bluey and some reality shows and docos which can't be found online. The catch up apps have some shows sometimes but then I have to swap to my Google tv and open the app, and the quality is always worse and forced ads on the apps kills it.

I've been using Plex for my "local media" and swap to Windows Media Centre for live tv which is so old school now but works perfectly fine, except I have not been able to upgrade away from Windows 7 because I would lose WMC.

I've never moved away from WMC because nothing else came close for a good usable htpc DVR program which had a built in EPG that I don't have to worry about.

I was sceptical about Plex Live DVR, I've read before that you have to mess around with EPG apps etc. But after using this today, everything worked seamlessly with my htpc, tv card and Plex home theatres program, and the guide was authorised linked.
The recording options and the way it matches up all the shows and categories is next level. A completely new way of watching live tv which aligns with how we watch local media files. No more guide scrolling because it's all matched through the app.

I dont know if this is all something recent or if ice just missed out for a while but I'm glad i jumped on board. And tbh even paying full price for the pass would have been worth it if I knew how well this worked for me.

    Thanks OP.

"I've never moved away from WMC because nothing else came close for a good usable htpc DVR program which had a built in EPG that I don't have to worry about."

Agreed! But then I've realised in the last 2~ years that FTA is totally shit and nothing worth recording… (And barely worth watching)
I used my W7 HTPC for probably 8 years and it was fantastic.

  • Didn't work with ING, getting the country error. Tried switching back to monthly but doesn't work.

jellyfin is an open source equivalent of plex and works pretty well

    • Are you using the ebooks feature in Jellyfin? If so can you give any feedback, how does it work, is it good?

For those having Selected country does not match Credit Card country errors, despite following OP's steps or cnwhite82's here's what worked for me.

If you're stuck at step three where you get the error and can't proceed:
    1. Select Subscriptions in Account Settings.
    2. Select view and modify your billing information and select Edit Billing Information.
    3. Enter your card details here and ensure that Country is set to Turkey and Update.
    4. Head over to Upgrade and you should see two options (yearly and lifetime) to upgrade here. Enter the discount code and Upgrade to Lifetime.

I managed to use Wise as my payment method.

    • Didn't work for me. Would save and revert back to Aus

  • Think they just removed the code LIFETIMEOFCOMFORT - "Code not valid"

Edit: nvm I was using a turkey VPN, disconnected it and the code worked again !
    1. Free 1 month trial with country as Aus
    2. Cancelled subscription
    3. Signed up for 1 month with Country as Turkey
(They looked like they would bill in TRY but didn't because of the trial)
    4. Upgraded to lifetime using same payment details (28 degrees card)

  • such a good deal, shame i already got it last year..

  • $70.47 on ING. Finally got it to work after a lot of faffing about. Set for life now. thanks OP

  • hey mate how did u make it work , I am still struggling, tired everything suggested

  • I've done step one to get the free month, and I see:

"Thank you, you have a shiny new Plex Pass!

Your Plex account now has superpowers. Open Plex Web and start taking advantage of your new features!

Level up your music library with 60 million high-quality songs.
    (Start 30-Day Free Trial)"

At this stage, the 'On TIDAL' music library still only plays 30 second samples of the songs.

If I do the next steps for the "LIFETIMEOFCOMFORT" and pay, will the music library become included in the subscription?

  • Hopefully it worked.

Ive been charged ~$70 but in the subscription says In Review so hopefully its all good

    • I have the same - but they've charged my credit card so can't see there will be an issue

  • Thanks!
I had to set the country to Turkey when registering for the one month free, only then it came up with TRY currency for the lifetime upgrade and bypassed the invalid country error

  • Worked for me. $70.10 Westpac Debit.

      • then replace it with jellyfin and/or Kodi ;)

more seriously I use Medusa and utorrent

  • Does anyone else not have Turkey as a selectable country? I could choose it as the billing country but then I get a screen saying "we just need to make sure where you are" and Turkey isn't an option. I have Turkmenistan and Turks Islands only.

EDIT: Not sure what I did but it worked after a few refreshes. I had to use the monthly sub trick first, but it seemed to work.

Anyone got any suggestions on server setup?

Im currently using my personal laptop (macbook pro 2020) connected to a HD

  • I just cancelled my current Plex yearly pass, but I try the 3 different codes and none of them work. Any suggestions? I have been using mobile, or do I have to use browser? edit, tried browser as well, but still no go. Is it only available to people that don't have a cancelled yearly Plex pass?

  • how can I change the country??

  • Method 2 (does not match credit card) worked for me.

    Thanks!
(don't even know why I bought this, guess it will be the summer project).

I got the error fraud detected
    How can I fix this?

  • Damn, nice workaround. I paid for the $120 deal before I saw this.

  • Nothing worked for me until I put in a Turkey Postcode (i.e 34000) - same steps - first Aus CC with Aus as Country, cancel, upgrade 1 month, update CC to turkey with Turkey Postcode, upgrade to lifetime.

  • You jive Turkey

  • Worked here but needed to sign up monthly trial again and select Turkey. Once it remembered my card, it was easy to switch. Charged $72.07 on Up.

  • +3

    This worked for me https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11398973/redir

    But today costs $72.07

    1. Sign up for 1 month trial with any of the codes and Aus CC, Aus as the country.
    2. Cancel subscription.
    3. "Upgrade" to 1 month trial without coupon code, change CC country to Turkey (You won't be charged, you're already on a free month).
    4. Upgrade to lifetime using Coupon code "LIFETIMEOFCOMFORT".
    5. Profit.
    • Yep, charged 72.07 on Coles Mastercard.

    • This worked for me too.

  • To those who successful paid, can you check your payment transaction in Plex if the status in "In Review"?

    My transaction:

    Transaction Information

    Type Sale
    Description (Plan) Lifetime
    Status In Review
    Created At 2021-11-26
    Base Price ₺617,24 TRY

    • yes it is in review :)

      • Mine said "In Review" for only a couple of hours before it said "Settled"
Don't recall getting any emails but my bank also had "Pending against the funds that were taken out and now not anymore"

maybe it's a payment delay thing.

      • Mine has settled

    • Type Sale
      Description (Plan) Lifetime
      Status Settled
      Created At 2021-11-25

    • Mine says settled. Purchased yesterday.

  • I'm surprised this is still active.

  • -1

    This doesn't work anymore.

  • +2

    Still works…

Finally got it for $72.07. I had a Turkey CC too but didn't need to use it luckily.

On second step it looks like it will bill you 29,99TL for the month but when you upgrade to lifetime on 3rd step it will overwrite that and only charge you for the lifetime access. Double checked on the billing/payments page and on my CC statement.

  • Can someone so kindly lists the main extra features Plex pass have over free Plex?

    Thanks.
    K.

  • I've been using Kodi for 5-10 years (I'm 70 and keep forgetting things) - currently using Kodi on an Intel NUC with one TV and an XBox One S on another. Also have a Synology NAS (DS918) with 32Tb with movies, tv series, music and photos.

Can anyone who has used Kodi and has switched to Plex tell me the advantages and disadvantages? Is it worth the effort to change? Thank you. ☺

    • Kodi is a client and database in one. Means if you have multiple players, you have to sync the content somehow. Plex on the other hand operates as a central server that all the clients access. In your case, the Plex server would like run on your NAS, then you'd need to either add a Plex addon to Kodi or swap out Kodi for an actual Plex client.

    • If you are the only one watching and only on one device, then I would say Kodi is better - as you are used to it already.
Plex is server/client. You can have multiple users and multiple clients. You can start watching the movie at your Living room TV and then finish watching it on your mobile phone or on your bedroom TV. And at the same time, your wife can watch some other movie on the other TV or iPad, etc. It will remember each of your movies and when you stopped watching the movies.
It is not hard to set up, but it is more complicated than Kodi. If you want to watch at various devices (TV, iPad, Phone, multiple TVs) and/or you have multiple users (you, wife, friend) or you want to watch it from outside of your home (when traveling) then you may use the DS918 and install Kodi there. It will do the transcoding for other devices pretty well (do not install inside docker - it will not allow for HW transcoding).
And also, given the size of your collection, I think Plex may be slightly better at managing that. I used to have issues with Kodi and large media databases.
      Good luck!

  • -1

Does this method work with PayPal?

  • +1

I can't get it to work. Tried both approaches suggested (With and without cancelling the free month). Just get the credit card isn't from Turkey kind of error.

  • Still considering this, good price.
I've got a Google TV and a Rpi4 (but with audio stream OS on, volumio). The Google TV doesn't have much storage for apps and would probably need a hub to get any use out of it. I also don't have a NAS so it seems a bit pointless when I can plug a hard drive directly into the TV anyway. Kodi has always been good for this.

Wondering if this is worth it - Rasplex would works just fine to swap sd cards. Rasplex can be either a server or a player for a separate PC or Nas. Also you can use the Plex app on your smart phone as the remote control for the player if you want.

Ideally you probably need a nas, but can stream most tv shows/movies anyway these days (pay for Netflix, Prime, Tidal, youtube.. test a few others out here and there for a month).
Deleted a few movies from old small capacity 3.5" HDDs lately, don't know why, not worth anything lol

  • I bought this plex pass, but it turns out you have to add users are highly privileged to a "home" to get the apps for free, which was the main reason I bought it. The ios app is only $8, id rather just buy that for a few people so it functions as expected, rather than the pass for $70

  • Thanks!

2nd option worked for me (ING card)

  • Always felt I should support Plex after using it all these years.

~$70 AUD is a no brainer.

    Thanks OP

  • I was on my way but accidentally had yearly checked instead of lifetime. Tried to upgrade to lifetime and select Turkey on the payment page but now my banking provider keeps rejecting the payment. I'm unable to cancel either. I guess my best option at this stage is to renew during Black Friday next year?

  • Any thoughts on getting this to work for current Plex Pass subscribers?

I've cancelled my Auto-Renewal and then it's giving me the yearly/lifetime prices with the discount code option.
The discount code gives me 25% but it's still in the AU prices.
If I select the country (Turkey) in the credit card section and hit next will it give me the altered price?

Edit: I tried it, but it gave me the "country not matching error"
Edit 2: Tried incognito and signed up with a different email, same issue
Edit 3: Tried my Bankwest Mastercard, Coles Mastercard and Amex, same issue
(this is all at the free one-month stage)

  • Thank you OP, thank you gamerkonks - worked for me with 28deg card.

  • Just spotted this deal with 20 mins to spare! Glad I was able to get in on time.

  • Thanks OP @stevenx along with @gamerkonks and @cnwhite82 for the post and tips.
