Honestly I'd be going for a 6600 XT over this. Seems to come available for $799 semi regularly (got a sapphire nitro one for $799 free express courier from mwave on the weekend, arrived today).
I don't want this to be a battle about AMD v Nvdia but isn't it better to get an RTX card just for DLSS?

I think thats a "yes…but" answer.
Yes….but DLSS is much more useful/noticeable on higer end cards. On the 3060, like the ray tracing, the card is only just powerful enough to run that feature, so the improvements will be very minor. The guys on Hardware Unboxed did some pretty good comparisons between the two cards.
The 3060ti is a definate winner over the 6600, but the 3060 trails a bit behind.
Isn't it the opposite? Isn't DLSS more useful on middle-tier cards because of the ability to upscale to resolutions the card may not natively be capable of?
I think you are probably talking about ray tracing, not DLSS. DLSS should be good on any card.
Its a complicated question. The 6600 XT has a fair bit more rasterisation performance than the 3060, and DLSS is only really needed as a "cheat" system to get the illusion of better quality graphics (with some pretty clear drawbacks if you look closely).
If you want DLSS, stump up for a 3060 Ti IMO.
If you run Linux, buy AMD, or you’ll just have issues

Bought a card from this shop last week and the box was so dirty. Full of dust and marks like as if it wasn't handled properly.
This includes the inner box like as if it was opened.

Just started using the Nvidia Image Scaling feature on my 1080ti, and I'm fine not upgrading for a while yet. Makes it feel like I have a new card.
i can get a 2nd hand 1070 for nearly half the price of this, will be pairing it with my old i7 4790 and 16gb of ddr3 ram (outdated i know) but my current 3gb 1060 aint cutting it with most big games
what do you guys think? 3060 is a bit overkill and nearly 2x the price but at the same time comes with warranty, meanwhile 1070 is much more affordable and a better fit for my current system which will only be used for 1080p anyway
If your capped at 60hz by your 1080p monitor, the 1070 is probably a better deal. If you go to 1440p, you will want the 3060. Also the resale value of the 3060 vs 1070 when you ever to upgrade may be worth thinking about.
1080p@144hz monitor, 1070 does seem like the better deal but worried about getting scammed/gpu not functioning properly
The only time i've ever bought a second hand GPU was when I was able to see it working in a computer and run benchmarking software on it.
Oddly enough that person was trying to scam me as they thought only 1 of the 2 GPUs was working, but the 4+4 8pin adaptor had slightly come out of the second one, so when I plugged it back in and tested it ran fine, him only finding this out several weeks later when I ran into him at the pub

If you can get a 1070 for 400, the going rate seems to be 600-750, so that's a "good deal" by todays standards.. some how..
Unless you really must have a gaming PC, it’s hard to justify a GPU that is more expensive than a PS5 or XSX, while not really any faster.

if you are willing to mine (which a console cant do) then the cost is very easily justified
not to mention a lot of people just prefer gaming on a pc over console
