  • Whats a DEC email? not getting alot of info on the page.

Would be good if they had WHS aswell

    • Usually the DEC emails are given out to Year 9-12 especially when they get their laptops from school. So if you have a younger brother/sister in those years you could just borrow their emails.

Alternatively you can apply for tafe.

      • not just years 9 - 12.

these emails (@education.nsw.gov.au) are for students from Year 1 - 12. [asked around some younger cousins : )]

        Tafe one is for Tafe.

        • So kindergarten students don't get a Dec email?

      • +1

Year 9-12 students get a laptop from their school?

        • …old news now.
Started in 09'. Dont Worry, my cousin hates them to death. Lenovo, and low ram.

    • -3

I got unsw email but can't get through.

    • +3

^ This needs to be voted up more for attention.

In the "How to Guide" of the link it clearly states:

      1. Enter your @education.nsw.gov.au OR @tafensw.net.au email address.

If you are at UNI, please do a search for MSDNAA on your uni website.

      • UNSW only gives out Windows 7 Pro if you do a computing course.
        Uses the same website too.

Tried using a mates @eq.edu.au and it didn't work.. tho I requested it be added to the allowed domains :)

    see what happens =p

    • +28

I tried using my yahoo email and requested it be added to the allowed domains

      • Seems reasonable… student of life.

  • •The supplied email address cannot be used to register on this website. Please verify that it is correct and is an address that has been issued to you by your institution (e.g. school). If so, click here to request that tafensw.net.au be added as a valid email domain.

  • Thanks I got the product keys!

    • What are the numbers?

      • -1

ditto :P do they let u order more qty?

    • +15

campbell newman is selling reduced price windows 2000 editions as part of his queensland revitalisation program.

  • Thanks OP, it was great. It appear you can order both, Windows Professional and Ultimate and get the 32 and 64 bits. However please be aware you need to download all the image files.

  • How can I get a email like that? Don't have one. Can some1 share ?

    • Just enroll to Tafe

  • What is the go with using these keys with the other images directly downloaded from Microsoft or somewhere else.

  • +3

My university email address didn't work, but my old tafe I had from last year is still active. Win!
    Thanks :)

    • Same here, while i'm not longer studying, I guess its alright since my tafe email account is still working etc. I didn't take up the windows for $50 deal, so I figure I'm ok with myself taking up this offer.

  • Can you sure the same email address more then twice? I dont have a valid email address.

    • +1

Just tried. Emails can only be used once, and they restrict you to only adding one of each to cart. Soz :(

  • -7

Desperate to get this however only have a UTS email. Anyone…share a little? Mac 2011! lol

  • Great first post, jimjones! Got the key for Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac (English) (Student Option)

  • is it a choice of the three or all of them?

    • All of them.

  • -3

    doesn't work for @student.unsw.edu.au

    • +1

read the second comment on this page

      • +8

maybe someone should change the title… obviously its not for Students in New South Wales

    • WTF! A neg because it doesn't so something that it doesn't claim to do!!

      • +9

In fairness, the title is misleading.

  • worked for me (@education.nsw.gov.au)
    Got Office 2010 Pro Plus
    Win 7 Ultimate
    Win 7 Professional

    • Same here got all for free including office mac
and paid $5 to keep the links for 24months

    • So u can download all three :)

  • +1

is it just me, or is the webpage taking along time to load?

EDIT: Scrap that question, it took a bit longer to load, but in the end, it did.

    • +1

it did take a long time to load :(

  • -6

Does this last for only one month before the license expires?

    • +3

A question is hardly a reason for a neg, is it?

FYI it's been 2+ years since I graduated and my win 7 and XP keys from MSDNAA are going strong.

  • +2

I wonder why this offer is available, and who's meeting the cost?
    Gift horse. Mouth. Look.

    • My guess is this is a "loss leader" promotion… ie. get someone using the product and used to it, and they'll likely stick with what they know in the future - read as, "buy upgrades".

Probably works well enough in this case because the switching costs are relatively high (retraining time, application repurchase, etc).

      Thank you competition.

  • Worked for me. Great Post

  • Does anyone know if this includes DET staff?
    Because technically I have an @education.nsw.gov.au email…

    • I'd like to know this too.. My wife is a teacher, but thinks I'm up to something dodgy and won't let me use it!

      • -1

Dodgy!? hmmm … Wonders if MicroSoft knew that until recently the NSW Director-General of Education is a convicted drug dealing Crim (with jail time) /: Maybe that is the reason NSW got it - Bill Gates attempting to proving his own personal Redemption to the World ;-)

    • +1

Me too… only I am up to something dodgy ;)

      • +4

        whip sound

    • DEC is the new DET.

  • +1

Please note it is only upgrades for Windows 7. Not the full version.

  • -1

    @myacu.edu.au - not working.. sent a request

  • the student.uts.edu.au not working, any one that got it working?

    • I need this one to! Doesn't look like they'll allow anything other than the two mentioned

    • see my reply to brendun's earlier comment.

  • mq not working either

    • +1

      http://web.science.mq.edu.au/it/doc/MSDNAA/MSDNAA_ELMS.htm

Need to be enrolled in COMP/ISYS subject though and no Office

      • sweet! I study at mq, had no idea this was available! thanks dude!!

      • UNSW Version
        http://taggi.cse.unsw.edu.au/FAQ/ELMS/
        http://msdn70.e-academy.com/au_37782/
You need to login with your yellowform (which you will know about if you do a computing course) and be active in a computing course as the login-system does check with CSE's list.
Most you can get is 2 copies of windows 7 pro (32 bit + 64 bit keys, you can add both to cart and it'll count as different products, 5 activations limit on EACH)
        Also:
        Access 2010
        Visio Pro 2010 (from memory)
        Project Pro 2010
        Onenote 2010

No word, excel or powerpoint =|

  • +1

is anyone else having trouble loading the site or is it just me?

    • I had a bit of trouble too, but it eventually loaded (after pressing refresh and stuff), but my uni email doesn't work.

  • +1

    Doesn't work for uni students…

  • uts.edu.au - doesn't work

    • +1

      tafensw.net.au works

    • see my reply to brendun's earlier comment.

  • UNSW (zmail.unsw.edu.au) not working

  • +4

Wow Not sure how much tax money the NSW Govt spent with Microsoft for this but no parent in NSW should need to buy a copy of Windows or Office for their kids now! Few million licences up for the legitimate taking.

  • +11

it is amazing many students are not able to comprehend the requirement to get this freebies.
read the term and condition, is it your domain email match with one of the requirement? if no then its mean you are not eligible.

    DEC email

    (@education.nsw.gov.au OR @tafensw.net.au)

    • +5

Pretty much. Looks like people can't goddamn read. Maybe you guys shouldn't be in tertiary education if you can't follow basic instructions.

This will NOT work if you have anything but a '@education.nsw.gov' or '@tafensw.net.au' which you won't have unless you attended a tafe or secondary school, NOT for university students or tafe/high school students from any other state than NSW.

      • Look outside the square bro.

  • Great (first) post, thanks OP!

  • Win 7 is update version, not full

    • need someone to confirm that! it does say upgrade version but are you able to do a clean install?

    • so if i dont have windows 7 previously installed.. does that mean i cant install the windows 7 that im downloading now?

  • +5

During a standard installation of windows, do not input a key and deselect the activate online. So you're installing it as a trial. Once windows is running, you can activate using your upgrade key as normal and it should work. In cases where it doesn't, there's a quick workaround for that as well.

    http://www.mydigitallife.info/clean-install-windows-7-with-u…

Plenty of tuts via google on how to get it all going. It's simple anyway :)

  • +9

WOW where's MY copy mr baillieu?

  • so how long do the keys last for?

    • Forever.

    • -4

      1 Month
Pay $4.99 and they last for 24 Months Guarenteed.

(This is the period to use the key as in activate it.)

      • +4

No, it's just the period which they'll allow you to download it from their site.

        • SO if i dont pay the $4.90 i can keep downloading and reinstalling the product? or would i just need to install it once and it will last for 24 months?

        • +9

or would i just need to install it once and it will last for 24 months?

          FFFFUUUUU
          Sigh… lemme explain.

The license does not expire. The license is almost identical to one that you buy from a brick and mortar store — there is no trial or evaluation period. The Win 7 and Office license can be uninstalled and reinstalled as many times as you wish to any computer you own.

By paying $4.90, they will allow you to re-download the ISO file from the site and view the key if you ever forget it, or somehow lose the ISO image.

It is not neccessarily at all to pay $4.90, just keep the key written down somewhere and burn the ISO file to a DVD.

  • crap, i want a free license havent got an edu email any more :(

  • Nice worked, lucky my bro is still in high school :D

  • when's this coming Vic's way?
