    No 65”.

Feeling pretty happy picking it up for $3330 this week after missing the Black Friday sales.

    • +3

      No C1 77" too :(
I thought it will go to an all-time low as we are getting close to CES 2022

      • +3

Happy to have gotten one for $4500, really not sure if we'll see it any lower anytime soon.

        • Was it from Goodguys eBay sale?

          • +5

@hellboi: Nah that was $4850 Videopro deal matched at Harvey Norman (forgive me), with 7% shopback giftcards, so $4510.50 after cashback (which only took 2 days). TV is 10/10, unreal.

      • 66" G1 @ 3k a month back

    • +1

65" might still be out of stock in most stores? I'm still waiting for mine from TGG Black Friday sales.

      • +1

Got my 65" last Thursday BF sales, HN though.

    • They dont have stock of the 65’ mine is back ordered since black Friday deals and delayed to end of Jan

    • Where did you get it from please @JJJTP?

      • Jbhifi - got them to price match video pro

    • Where did you get that price from?

      • Jbhifi - got them to price match video pro

        • Did you get it for $3380 as opposed to $3330 ? https://www.videopro.com.au/product/lg-65-oled65c1ptb-self-l…

          • @polarq: $3330 - $50 cash back using gift cards

              • +2

@polarq: Are you legitimately high-fiving over a price nearly $700 higher than all time low posted only weeks ago?

                • -2

@BTMoustachio: $442 is not nearly $700. $2888 was the low during Black Friday.

                  I didn’t need a tv a few weeks ago, now I do.

                  • -2

                    @[Deactivated]: 2740, $590 higher than 3330.

                    • @BTMoustachio: Ok. That’s still $110 from $700

                      • @[Deactivated]: Obviously I can't count and should have said $600 more. Just surprised that ppl are willing to pay anything over 3k for that tv.

                        • +2

@BTMoustachio: What’s the alternative though, If you need a new tv?

I missed the BF sale, it sucks but that’s life. I got the best price I could at the time I needed

                        • +1

@BTMoustachio: Price dropped to $2888 on Boxing Day. Contacted JB and they refunded the $492. So in the end I paid $2888 for the 65”

                • +1

@BTMoustachio: I was high-fiving over the usage of gift cards for a further saving, I had forgotten about that part entirely. Really depends on personal situation with the price as the stock for 65" is limited and it may not go on sale at all for Boxing day, so although not as close to the lowest ever, it is the lowest you can get for now.

    • Yeah I bought one for $3400 just before BF sales and felt cheated after seeing them go for $2800 during the sale, but soon realised how out of stock they were and that they were just taking people's money for some vague delivery date in the future. I'm okay with paying a premium after having used it for 2 months.

      • Yeah I bought mine on Friday and picked it up today. Had to travel an hour to a store that had it in stock but happy to actually have the TV before a lot of the BF sales people

  • +2

Nest hub is cheaper right now at officeworks.

  • What model is that Sony 85" at the top of page 2?

  • Damn it wish they had something for the pixel 6.

    • +6

Unless your current phone is broken, you're better off waiting IMO. It's my first pixel and I would NOT do it again given my experience so far. It's mostly bugs that will be fixed, but kind of surprised so many got through testing.

      • Ok what are your top 5 frustrations? Did you get pro or normal one?

        • +10

          Pro.

1.) Smart lock doesn't work. If you enable smart lock it breaks the fingerprint sensor requiring you to enter your password or pin every few hours. Disabling smart lock means you can just use fingerprint, and only have to enter password/pin once a day
2.) Fingerprint sensor is bad. It's not as bad as everyone says, but it's bad.
3.) app defaults regularly reset, i.e. if you want youtube links to open in youtube vanced, or reddit links in reddit is fun, you have to set those defaults, and they clear themselves every few days.
4.) Awkward (for me) to hold. I came from a note 9, which was slightly lighter, but seemed much better balanced. pixel 6 pro is very top heavy due to the camera package I think.
5.) google store "support" is completely and utterly (profanity) useless. Weeks of back and forth and repeating yourself to get anything not resolved. I was supposed to get credit for pre-ordering and credit for my google one subscription and it was a nightmare of back and forths to get that credit applied. Additionally, if you try to open a ticket for any of the above software issues, they'll tell you to send your phone in for repair when they're obviously software issues. It gets them off the hook and you don't have a phone for weeks.

          • @SaddenAscentAspirin: Is smart lock the integration with a smart watch to unlock your phone? What wearable do you have?
I believe the issue you've got with the apps are due to the apps themselves when they release updates.
I passed on the pixel 6 due to its size. Waiting next iteration if they release something closer to the size of pixel3.

            • @ShouldIBuyIt: Not just a smart watch, technically any bluetooth device, or a location, or "on body detection". With smart lock, every 4 hours, your device should "fall back" to the fingerprint scanner, but it doesn't. It blocks the fingerprint scanner and forces you to re-enter your password or pin. That is the bug. My password is annoying to type, so I'd rather not do it every 4 hours when I haven't left the house.

            • @ShouldIBuyIt: Can't be the app updates' fault. Never happened to any of my phones before.

          • @SaddenAscentAspirin: All those Issues above you mentioned are already been fixed with Dec update. Camer's got way better then ever, update your 6 or 6 pro with december update.

            • +2

@Casterton: My phone is up to date. They haven't fixed any of those issues. The update to the fingerprint scanner improved it slightly, but it still objectively bad.

              • @SaddenAscentAspirin: How? Did you side-load the Pixel 6 Pro December update? It hasn't been released to my 6 Pro yet.

                According to Reddit

                https://www.reddit.com/r/Pixel6/comments/rg20dz/no_december_…

Google support said wait another 2 weeks 8 days ago.

As Casterton said the update is supposed to fix all those issues you mentioned. (Why did he get downvoted for saying that?).

If you've sideloaded (only way to get it right now) and you're still having issues, I apologize.

If you do NOT have the December update - Casterton is right. Your phone is not up to date with the latest build and we still need to wait.

                • @Ramrunner: Lots of people in that thread saying they have the update. AFAIK I have the update, my phone updated ~10 days ago. I check almost daily for updates.

Security Update is 5/12 and version is SQ1D.211205.016.A1

edit: Found this, which matches my software version:

                  https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/139017133/googl…

So it would seem my phone is up to date, and none of those things are fixed.

                  • @SaddenAscentAspirin: Weird I still don't have the update (Telstra Business 512Gb Pixel 6 Pro).

But you're supposed to have a different version:

                    AU
                    Pixel 6: SQ1D.211205.016.A5
                    Pixel 6 Pro: SQ1D.211205.016.A5

Telstra (in that same thread or Reddit as I mentioned before) say there will be 2 updates and the second update will bring it to .A5.

I'm quite OK to wait though I haven't experienced any of the problems you have except the figerprint reader ain't great.

Wonder if you have a true AU model with the fact it jumped to A1 instead of A5?

                    • +1

@Ramrunner: I have a global model AFAIK since I got it directly from google, and not from a carrier.

                      • @SaddenAscentAspirin: That explains the difference. I bet my left nut it's Telstra holding the update (AGAIN). They did this with my Pixel 4XL also. It wouldn't update to 12 until I handed it to my son when I got the 6 Pro.

The minute he chucked his Kogan sim in it - the update started.

I don't have much option when it come to reception in my area (Telstra is basically it), but god if I could go somewhere else I'd be off.

Terrible service and witholding updates seemingly forever when I made the effort to buy a Pixel which supposedly has instant updates is really starting to p%%s me off.

Sorry mate, I know that doesn't help your situation.

MIND YOU - I have heard that Google has recently pulled the update again also due to the bugs it caused with Call Screening and "hold for me".

      • Just got mine from telstra sale. What bugs you having?

      • +1

Asolutely agree with you 110% ! It's also my first experience with a Google phone after watching all these raving reviews but I have to say it gives me the worst user experience compare to Iphone, LG and Samsung. Out of the lot I reckon LG is the easiest to use, the only thing I hope LG can improve is their photos but I will never buy another Google phone again.

        • +6

LG won't be improving anything. They don't make phones anymore :(

Going to miss my v30+ when the time comes (despite the terrible yellow tint and dodgy usb c port straight out of the factory.. LG was always extremely weak at quality control)

        • Still rocking my V20. Regret not picking up a V60 when it was still on the market.

Now not sure where to go. But never a pixel.

Maybe asus, but a bit pricey even on the special they are here.

      • Have had a tonne of nexus/pixels and gave up on the pixel 3. So many bugs (phone calls people couldn't hear you until restart). Switched to samsung and never looked back. The UI on the samsungs is way better than the pixels.

        • wow didnt know there were so many bugs.. hopefully it all gets ironed out ASAP.

          • @postform: Yeah I don't know. I have a 6 Pro and apart from the fingerprint reader being annoying outdoors, I've had pretty much no issues and I love it.

Love Call Screen so much! On Hold is also very handy.

Best phone I've owned. Wife has 21 Ultra which I've played with for a few days, but wouldn't switch.

Guess it's each to their own, but I certainly haven't seen a truckload of bugs. Fingerprint reader is sub-par but for me that's it.

  • how is the benq projector which is on sale?

  • Can someone please give me a sanity check; there's no mention of dash cams going on sale in this catalogue? Want to pick one up before Christmas if this is the case. Cheers.

Samsung 85" The Frame QLED 4K Smart TV [2021]

Price now $4,495 instead of $5,995, which is $1,500 off

Quite attractive to me. Does anyone know is it good? Compare with the QN75A, thanks

    • +3

For a screen that big, don't get a tv without FALD or OLED

    • +1

The Frame, Serif etc, just use Q60 panels. Not worth it.

      • +1

        Not worth it.

Depends what your requirement is. For me I don't watch much TV, nor do care for super duper pixels. I do prefer an artwork to a big black rectangle in my living area though, and from what saw on display, the Frame is a fantastic solution to this.

SONY DEALS, website prices change at 12:00am Boxing Day!

OP, update adding these beauties to the top of your post!

LG C1 is a bit cheaper at $2,142 for 55"
LG C1 would be better for games. Sony would be better for movies & sports?

Not sure why you got neg'd.

      • -1

        HARDcore gamers get the C1.
But for EVERYTHING else (free to air up scaling, movies, sports and Google TV interface), then get the SONY.

        • Why is that so?

          • +3

@djmm: Better image processing and colour reproduction.

            • -1

@bobmonkey17: Oh ok. I thought I read somewhere Sony was inferior panel wise. Maybe it was the case with past model.

              • +1

@djmm: They are the same panel, except the 65 (possibly?) and 77 (definitely) A80J gets the evo panel that the G1 has, rather than the regular C1 panel. And of course, you get actual feet with the Sony, rather than the wall mount only option for the G1 (tabletop stand available separately at extra cost!).

Both A90 models get the evo panel, natch.

            • +2

@bobmonkey17: Serious question, would Sony be worth that extra ~$350 (55")?

Is the Google TV interface on Sony now better than LG's interface? Easy to navigate etc

              • @sol3x: If you are a hardcore gamer, no.
If you use the television for everything else, yes.

                • @msjb: @msjb, thanks for the prompt reply.
Very useful feedback Would you be able to comment on the interface too by any chance?

                  • +1

@sol3x: Best to go in the store and check it out yourself.
Just don’t listen to the salespeople.
They get commissions on televisions that provide the best margin for the retailer.

            • @bobmonkey17: Let's talk HDR. I thought the sony had not licenced the most popular standard?

        • Out of interest, anyone know if Sony have gone full (mod: edited) with the Android front screen and the ads, or have they managed to stop Google from "upgrading" it.

Also speedwise … Comparable to Shield or some lag?

I have a CX right now, but looking to go larger. Webos on the CX is great, but have heard reports they have pumped huge amounts of ads into the C1 interface

          • @mctubster:

if Sony have gone full (mod: edited) with the Android front screen and the ads

No idea, but the idea behind Android TV is that rather than bake your own OS and employ hundreds of devs to maintain it, you simply use google's product instead. So I'd guess that in order to be stay current with max compatibility it will be the standard Google product (I prefer regular updates and compatibility with Google apps than customised unsupported shit you get from LG or Samsung etc.

    • No A90K 65" :( ?

  • Is $199 a good price for Samsung Galaxy active 2? Or is Fitbit Versa 2 better?

    • Interested in this too - recommended on OzB

    • From what I can see, and owning a Versa lite, Fitbit gives you more flexibility and support regardless of what phone you have.

  • +7

Currently, JB offers surface pro 8 with 20% but Boxing day deals show 15% off. Not attractive at all.

  • How is the Hisense 55" ULED $995 ?

    • I think that's a budget QLED TV better than TCL C725, with local array dimming. I'm planning to get one but wife said no and we need a Samsung Frame.

      • My wife said the same thing!!
Is the Samsung Frame better in terms of picture quality (for casual viewing, watching news)?
Having the frame on 24/7 feels like it would eat more power and have more wear and tear?

        • I didn't spend time on the technology/specifications and did very little research on TV. The Frame looks better obviously and the sound/picture quality (in my view) is better as well. Cons: Price, 3 Star energy rating, 1-year warranty.
Anyway, $1495 seems a good price for this good-looking TV, especially it makes my wife happy

        • Having the frame on 24/7 feels like it would eat more power

Well you wouldn't have it on 24/7, it does have motion detect or something so is only on when you're in the room.
I couldn't find power consumption figures, but assume about 60W for an average TV for a few hours, compared with an A/C unit that can consume 10,000W. A piss in the ocean.

If you want to save energy, you can always switch it off.

          • @1st-Amendment: Yeah. I will get the fame as well. I hear the picture quality is not the best but better than average, maybe 8/10? While the oled are 10/10

    • I dont know, why don't you ask it?

  • +2

No decent console/gaming deals inside that I could see. Fair price on the TV though.

  • plus free delivery to all rural areas!

  • +6

Those game deals are weak as hell.

    • +2

10% off nintendo cards (in combination with 15% off TCN cards I snagged) is all I need to know.

  • Can anyone comment on the eufy robovac and/or compare it to the roomba i7?

  • +1

Oh no I’m hoping to buy an Oled Switch with discounted gift cards. Any chance it’ll go down below 500 on Boxing Day?

  • Hope I can get the price today and use the gift cards, to save our friends in JB time on Boxing day..
