    What’s a BananaLab gift box?
I could be into some high tech Bananas on the blockchain, or similar. Bit pricy tho.

    • +1

It's similar to redballoon/adrenaline vouchers but can't see these 2 specific boxes on their website - wondering what you could choose and if you could combine multiple credits towards a more expensive experience.

      • +1

        According to their FAQ:
"The HIM and HER boxes sold in retail stores are the equivalent of the His Bucket List and Her Bucket List sold on our website. Both offer access to the same set of amazing experiences, only the packaging has changed."

        • Theres only a bucket list option, not his and her

          • @Chicken Kyiv: Forget about the his/her thing, both woolies gift cards are equivalent to the bucket list gift box, besides it is the only gift box that costs $100. To me it's very clear what the FAQ says

    • Banano bro!

Hard to save up $50+ a year for storage. Also can be used for subscription services.

      • +1

What subscription services can google play credits be used for? I have $100s going to waste expiring because I don't have anything to spend them on

        • I know disney plus works possibly netflix or Spotify. I think it might anything that is in the play store that has subscription in the app.

          • @Jklaro: Wait Disney plus works? 😲

            • @gilbarc: This is what I need to know too! I’ve got an account which I paid through Apple store last time, and since they no longer discount - this is a new option for me.
Is it as simple as just paying the same account with Google instead of Apple?

            • @gilbarc: Disney+ does work, but you need to let your current subs expires and resubscribe via the App on phone. It will now be in the subscription section of Google Play which allows the usage of Google Play credit.

          • @Jklaro: how? I can't find that option on my Disney Plus

          • @Jklaro: Spotify sounds interesting does anybody already do or know how to get it with google play balance?

            • +1

@sub102: Ignore or downvote that comment. It's 0 out of 3 correct. I tried it on all 3 services

              • @clx: No, Disney+ does work. I paid it November 2021 with Google Play credit and it is within subscriptions section on my Google Play, along with Google One.

          Dropbox

          • @kerfuffle: oh wait, can I upgrade my dropbox storage with google play credits?

I've been using my survey rewards to buy google drive storage, but would much prefer more dropbox.

            • @SlickMick: Should be able to. I pay for mine with discounted Google Play credit like the one in this deal

              • @kerfuffle: ta, I just had a look, and seems I could, but the only upgrade is to 2T and costs far more than my google opinion surveys would cover :(

Shame they don't let me buy 100G… or even an extra 10G would help.

You have $100s going to waste? Create an Android development account and publish an app that just has a donate button with a manual entry of amount and spend all your play credit on those in-app purchases so you can cash it out into your bank.

Or you could blow it all on gacha pulls in Genshin Impact / Honkai Impact like I do.

          • +1

@Agret: doesnt Google take 30% commission on all play store purchases?

            • +3

@puppetmaster: Even if they took 30% of your $200 expiring credits that’s still $140 in your pocket compared to nothing with expired credits.

I have paid the last 4 years of 100gb plan from opinion rewards. As well as the usually 14c or whatever, they tend to sling you an occasional $5 or $10 loyalty bonus or similar.
Or get $10 if you buy a book that can be 99c, etc.

You do need to turn on location services so they can see when you have been to BWS or Target or whatever, but I find they survey me every time I walk past.

        • Sorry, can you please explain? I recently upgraded from 100GB to 200GB storage plan. Was paying $25 I think annually now $43.99 Is there a way to do it at discounted rates?

          • +1

@nickskewl: You can install the Google Opinion Rewards app, and do the little survey when they send a notification. Answer a few simple questions for google play cents.
I don't think I earn enough for that, so we both need to learn how to get these bonuses mskeggs gets.
I earn enough to just pay $2.49 per month for 100G Google One account.

            • @SlickMick: Got it……Thanks for replaying.
Not sure if google play cards listed here can be used to pay the subscription as well for. Any idea?

              • +1

@nickskewl: yes, my understanding is that these cards simply add to your google play balance the same as the survey rewards do. I don't know whether they have an expiry date though.

                • @SlickMick: cool!!! Have a billing coming in 4 months…will stack up and take the bite

                • @SlickMick:

I don't know whether they have an expiry date though.

Yes they do expire. The back of the Google Pay gift card says:

Value expires 5 years following card issurance or last use on Play store.

    • how do you use google opinion rewards in Australia? App store says it's not available in australia?

      • +2

I've always been using it in Australia… For 3+ years? Wow since May 2014 according to the reward history. No shenanigans required, it should be available to Aus - most of the questions are for local shops etc for me (Did you visit Dan Murphy's? Again?)

        • +1

I always wondered what Google get out of knowing whether you bought something in the shops through the surveys.

@ktks: Attribute sales back to Google Ads so advertisers know if their ads are converting.

    • +1

Hard to earn enough from Google Rewards to cover even one $50 gacha 10+1 pull. Is there some sort of exploit where you can earn rewards credit really quickly?

      • If you're spending that much then rewards will never be quick enough I earn may be max $100 per year which is more than enough for me

    • Do people get the survey chances often? I hardly ever get them.

      • yea, quite often, takes about 10 seconds. Mostly YouTube, YT Music, and personal information like, married, own or rent, etc…

      • If you travel around go to places (mainly businesses), then more often you get them

        • Ah ok. Probably the reason why, I pretty just travel to the city only.

  • +1

I've seen comments where people say to use the play gift cards to pay for Yt premium. But if Argentina, Turkey or India, then can we still use these gcs?

    • -3

Can you seriously use google play for YT music. I think there are 2 different types google pay and google play. Google play can only be used on certain games whereas google pay is your credit card transaction, its a bit of hassle. I use my CC for YT music, my charges are $2/ month and 0.80 international transaction fee.

    • great question i wanna know

  • Can you buy Google hardware with this, like Pixel phones?

  • Can we use Google Gift card in Google Pay and buy groceries or shopping as a normal cardless credit card?

nice ifly is on here always wanted to try it https://bananalab.com.au/collections/experiences-multi100/pr…

  • Aye, will go to Officeworks for ~19.25% off

    • Have you tried? Does it work?

      • They've never refused me before. If you want, just give your local Officeworks a call to double-check they have stock.

      • I tried at a few stores in VIC too. No questions asked, they just honour it. The transaction was seamless

      • +2

Worked when they were 10% off https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/665311 off at my local Officeworks.

Tried today and no luck got the same checkout girl IIRC, she had to get someone to check once again.

She happen to call the manager said he wouldn't do it, because the Woolworths catalogue does not have the denomination of the gift cards.

Stated I've done this prevously at this very store to which he retorted, we'll they shouldn't have put it through "I'm the manager".

Couldn't be bothered driving to my next closest store just to possibly encounter the same thing, bought it from Woolworths.

Just depends who you get, no harm in trying YLMV.

        • +1

But the catalogue does have the denominations.

        • The catalogue i accessed via the app.
          Let try the website.

        • Page 42, showes the $50 card and $100 card. Isn't that what they mean?

          • +1

@neezy: Yes, but the manager stated the denomination must be actually printed on the catalog itself, not part of the image of the gift card.

I pointed out the same thing, said he won't process the order so I left.

Despite the fine print at the bottom stating "Offer avaiable from 5/1/12 to 11/1/22 on all denominations of gift cards (incluiding Google Play Variable) & gift boxes pictured in Woolwoths supermarkets…"

Like others have said in prior posts, maybe they've been instruced by head office to reject the PBG on gift cards as they loose money.

            • +3

@Daza0166: Ah ok. Understood. Dick move by the manager imo.

If they are losing money, thn change the terms and conditions. Don't have a guarantee if you can't back it up I rekon.

I'm gonna try my local tmrw (if there are any left, lol)

              • @neezy: Yeah, that store manager was a prick and their PBG shoudl be updated to exclude gift cards.

                Good luck.

  • does officeworks not restock their $100 gift cards or have they all been bought out by the time I actually go?

    • +2

At my local store they don't even stock $100, $50's were the largest.

      • That would explain it. Do you know if there’s a limit on the number of gift cards you can buy at one time? I’ve been sticking to 5 since that was the limit for itunes but I’m not sure if this is the same for google play.

        • +1

It's the same for Google Play gift cards, a limit of five (5) per customer at Officeworks.

Woolworths has a limit of ten (10) per customer, they also stock variable gift cards which you an charge up to $250 per card IIRC.

  • How do you use the Banana labs gift card and can you stack them somehow?

  • +1

Yay, got my price beat, $40~ea for the $50 cards

  • what are some consumable every-day ways to use the GooglePlay cards?

      Pixel 6

      • +1

Since when can you use your Google Play gift card to buy hardware like the Pixel 6? Misleading much?

    • YouTube Premium, if you can't be bothered using the VPN method to get it cheaper.

      • got link?

the core thing i can think of is if you have Google One monthly sub actually
which i have currently and could probably nibble this deal

but thinking of other ways that might eat it quicker but organically

  • Damn, that was a limited deal. Was going to Woolworths right now to stock up on the cards and see it ended yesterday :(

Anywhere else do the half price BananaLab? Need it.
