@[Deactivated]: That's rich! But no, not at all.

You see, I don't intend to sell at all. I'd rather have 2 PCs with 3090s in them.

BUT if a miner really wants one, they can pay for it.

  • +1

The deal will not work on 99% of deals, you can be sure of that…….

  • Days are long gone when ebay does 10,15 or 20% off everything. No ebay plus in existence just pure bargain madness.

Ebay has since then became smart to not let that happen again.

    • 10% Woolworths gift card or office work EFTPOS gift cards

  • Any suggestions on where to get discounted eBay gift cards from in time for this?

    • +2

      Shopback perhaps

    • +4

Just be aware less buyer protection than paypal. 30 days to raise claim from estimated delivery date

    • +1

Yes shopback and there instant and if you have any funds in your shopback account you can use for purchase, not sure if part payment with PayPal qualifies you for there buyer protection, anyone know?

  • Eligible items like usual

    • +3

I don't disagree with you but ebay have stopped doing sitewide promos for at least two years. Don't know why there is still an expectation for them.

The closest to a sidewide these days would be a cashback promo.

      • I think we are all just nostalgic of those great deals on items which don’t get (truly) discounted. I remember getting a 1080Ti during those site wide sales!

      • +5

Expectation for site-wide might be too much but an expectation that the savings are genuine is not. If eligible items' prices are jacked (as they (most) often are) then that's something to be made known.

          • +4

@Taegukgi: Regardless of the reason, it's price jacking and the savings are not genuine. I've got nothing against the deal per se but as I said in my earlier comment I have negged only to raise awareness for those that don't know.

            • +2

@afoveht: Also, eBay use this 22% promotion and similar promotions to convince people to join eBay Plus subscription. It is highly deceptive to scam people to pay a subscription fee for deals that aren't discounted as advertised. I am sure eBay can knows these dodgy practises are happening and they can easily develop tools to monitor price jacks on these sales, but they don't. They are scums for allowing this misleading practice to happen and continue.

          • +4

            @Taegukgi:

I try to negotiate deals with sellers and can understand the difficulties they have.

I hear what you are saying, but remember perception is everything.

Having a sale but pre-jacking the price is highly deceptive, and completely erodes trust.

The price jacking is a result of the small funding from eBay

If the seller cannot afford such losses, then maybe they shouldn't participate?

          • +2

@Taegukgi: It's deceptive misleading behaviour there's no excuse for it.

          • @Taegukgi: Wouldn't 6% cover the tier 6% seller fees? So 20% is out of the pocket of the seller?, (explains the jacking) I know there are better tiers sellers can sign up too well I haven't really looked into the seller tiers for a while, saying that people still buy on eBay and myself chasing a RTX 3060 noticed some buyers bid way to high even higher then the cards are new, I don't think these buyers shop around at all or don't care or have big wallets, I just can't figure them out, a RTX 3060 "used" went for $1041, it's a lot cheaper new, certainly eBay is a great place to sell used graphics cards
            https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GIGABYTE-GeForce-RTX-3060-GAMING…

            • @Italkdigital: I reckon eBay would waive the fees and also fund 6%. That still requires the sellers to fund the 14% off. I don't think eBay is a great place to sell things, especially for casual sellers. 14.46% final value fee, so essentially eBay is pocketing more than PayPal. Also, eBay auctions can easily attract scammers and some people just bid and don't pay. OR, some people will intentionally bid crazy price to stop other people from buying the item (i.e. picture of a RTX 3080).

GPU prices are just crazy at the moment.

              • @netsurfer: Yeah been following new and more so secondhand graphics cards on eBay for more then two weeks now, one seller got an amazing price for a AORUS 3060, I think more then new and his relisted it as the buyer pulled out though I don't understand his buyer had a perfect 100% positive rating over 200,. Also noticing more and more secondhand cards being listed, eBay is OK one just needs to know the prices and expected resale prices, all about timing but most important one needs to be patient and have limits to stick too

Also I find annoying with eBay stores, I've got a whole lot of stuff to sell and I was thinking of signing up for an eBay store, though there method for stores with a tier system,.. items like laptops and PCs fall into tier 1 which has a rate of around 6.6% (great worth it) but stupid eBay graphics cards fall into tier 4 which has an over 10% fee plus one also has to pay a monthly fee for the store, the most expensive of my stuff is graphics cards so not worth the trouble, wonder if it's better if I sell my graphics card in a cheap pc case and list it in the eBay computer section lol

            • @Italkdigital: As I said to an earlier poster…

              PharrCarnell 4 min ago new Edited comment from 8 - 10% to suit this reply;

              WHAAAT?? 6%…where you been hibernating?

Sold a 1080Ti recently…and they ripped me for 13.8% of the sale price…despite the listing being re-routed from a Gumtree Promotion advertising a $0.30 Final Value Fee….STILL FIGHTING THEM FOR MY REFUND…

      • any ideas if any of computer part tech companies will jump on this promo? Cheers either way!

      • agree… got to work with what u have :-)

  • +1

Jack lives here. Not a genuine deal just a ruse

Also im still waiting for the xmas $10 Plus gift card. They're support is so hopeless.

  • Jack, Jack, jacky!!!

  • +3

For Airpods 3rd gen., Buy 10% off Catch gift cards from Coles (Starting 19/01) and get it from Catch for $233.10. Do not support price gouger Sydney mobiles.

  • Some people bought gift cards already to buy the stuff they need, and found out the items are not eligible.

So the gc are just unused for who knows how long. Not well handled this promotion, they don't even tell which items are eligible.

Hey OP, are all items from sydneymobiles eligible? or just airpod? I want to get an iphone.

    • +1

If you didn't notice 10% off gift cards nowadays are as rare as hens teeth .
Hence the last 2 sales that were over that were heavily attacked and limits were not sufficient .
Most people know this will be a dud and they were bought for this .
Who knows a miracle may happen hehe .

      • -2

then you're stuck with the gc bought for this promo, and if item on sale somewhere else like jB, you can't use the ebay gc to pay for it.

and need to resell the ebay gc at a loss on classifieds.

I think I've found the link to eligible items:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/b/Coupon-Promotions/bn_7116150158

  • Wow. Synology DS920+ jumped from $850 to $1000 even. Toshiba N300 16TB was $599 now $749.

    • with 22% off still cheaper than before?

      around $780 and $584

still not a very good price though…

  • +1

As usual, not many actual deals.

Boozebud seems to be the best option, Four Pillars Gin for $53 - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/283876493579

    • Looked up beer cases there and its a dud .
And finished with this one :)

  • +1

These eBay 20% off deals are becoming a joke.

  • Any good deal on the 20% jackable items?

    • I haven't found anything cheaper than before the special. I'm looking at computer components.

      • likewise. purchased parts for an amd mini itx over the weekend, and all parts were cheaper than these items with the plus code.

  • I bet next one will be PFEB20 : P

  • +1

    no deals

  • +2

Disappointing… even with the futu online being promoted at the top banner too, no actual deals worth jumping for.

  • So what good deals are there as apart of this promo?

    • I think I saw a 4TB 870 QVO for about $373.62 (wiht 22% off) which makes it slightly cheaper than previous deals.

EDIT: Decided to post it to at least allow this coupon code to have a few deals haha… https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/678016

  • +2

price jacking confirmed again and again… dual monitor mount, from 28 to 38… jack the price 26% to get 22% discount… great savings…

  • +1

Cmon guys a virtual medal is on offer if you can find the needle in a haystack :)

  • This code cannot be applied to your order

  • Laws don’t apply to eBay it seems, they keep getting away with this trickery

    • +1

It's true though, there is no law to say eBay cannot pull this type of stunt.

  • +1

Jack me up, before you go go…..

So many things that I was watching just got some jacking love…. Nothing that I can buy at a significantly cheaper price in this sale.

  • when's the Dell 20 percent off. want the Dell xps

    • You'll have to wait for dealbot's exclusive Dell discount.

  • +3

Forget the 20-22% idea, just consider the final price.

It still can turn out ok if you have your eye on something and know your prices. I got a couple of things at around 11% off the lowest price before.

    • +2

$1115.95 for a used AORUS 3060 TI, was no jack on this one 👍😝, price was to high to start with at $1100 and no one bidded but myself, if one has patience some things on eBay are worth the wait

Yupz graphics cards have been jacked up, as 2 weeks back 3060 itx Aero could have been had close to $700, even cheaper with eBay gift cards (I had $80 off with 8x $50 eBay gift cards)

Edit: love to know what was said below (unpublished) lolz

  • It seems prices were better with the "SPSAVER" code than with the fake 20% off sale.

  • West Winds The Sabre gin is decent price after discount at $48 delivered. $60 at dans, maybe a bit cheaper elsewhere but nowhere near 48.

  • Wow I just came back to this deal, expecting to find some bargains. Guess not. eBay really need to try harder These promos are stale AF.
Kudo to dealbot though - I respect your massive contribution here

    • Honestly, I don't even bother looking anymore most of the time, we all know by now that the game is rigged and businesses are going to price jack that participated, not unreasonable seeing they're asked to absorb some of the cost.

  • I got a king ZZZ Atelier for $326 delivered, not the best it has been but I needed to order one

  • I can't use this coupon for boost 300 plan… Anyone tried?

  • eBay Australia unlinked my PayPal account for payment of items. When I tried to link to my Paypal account, it says it is no longer available. Does it mean I cannot use Paypal any more?

    • Yeah, sounds like they dropped your credit. Were you naughty?

  • Some new graphics cards come down between $50 to $100 instead of the previous $10 using SPSAVE deal

And bids on second hand cards are ridiculous going over new prices comparing with these discounts including this 20% and 22% discounts and SPSAVE discount on new cards (of course prices listed are higher before discounts), do a full search through eBay to find deals with discounts,. being lazy can cost ya

I've been mainly researching on 3060, 3060 ti and 3070 cards for the past 4 weeks, mainly eBay but also outside of eBay with eBay some might have discounted gift cards like I do,. looks like prices are coming down, don't know for how long if only with these current January deals

Do post here anyone who finds great deals using eBay's above current discount codes for any graphics cards on eBay, pretty please 👍😁

  • why is PJAN20 not working anymore?

    • +1
