think you might want to add.. "when you add to an Eligible Mobile plan."

      • -1

@ChillBro If your link is correct that would make the 2 Pixels a fantastic price!!

        • I never managed to grab a phone during Telstra day without the plan.

          • +2

@ShouldIBuyIt: I picked up a Galaxy S21 for my mum for $624 last year during Telstra day with no additional plan. I’m an existing customer, but didn’t have to add a new plan to get the phone. Was even able to get it delivered directly to her.

      • Just tried this and no dice. Errors out on the last step of the checkout.

Looks like you can't avoid the plan option this time around. :(

    • +3

Should also add the memory option to each one, as Im assuming these prices are for the base models only (128GB)?

      • 64gb in the case of the iPhone… lol

  • Any nbn good deal? Thinking to move from Belong

    • +7

Big price difference and for what benefit?

    • The nbn is deal good, but you need to sign up to a Telstra customer. Best price is on Amazon.

  • -1

The pixel prices were launch pricing weren't they? I don't see them as special

    • +3

      999 for 6, 1299 for 6pro.

    • +7

They're cheaper than RRP but not cheaper than Telstra's pre-launch pricing of $799 for the 6 and $999 for the 6 Pro

      • That needed an eligible plan, while this can be purchased outright. Only need a Telstra Id, Viz via boost mobile.

    • +4

Since you can’t got back in time to purchase things, what’s relevant is their pricing compared to others today.

      • +3

But previous pricing can indicate what it's worth/future pricing.

        • -3

Can’t travel forward in time to purchase stuff either, not if you want it now anyway.

          • @Mitch889: It's more like:
Google nest mini goes on sale for $29 quite often
One day I feel like a Google nest mini and the best I can find is $59. Sure if I need it right there and then I might buy one but if that's really then even RRP doesn't matter.
I'd argue most of the time, especially with stuff like this, no one needs it asap…

  • If you buy a Pixel does that mean the software updates have to go through Telstra's screening process?

    • +2

Only if you're using a Telstra sim. Chuck in an optus sim with no credit and it'll grab the latest. This is mainly only a problem for numbered releases, monthly releases aren't too bad.

    • I'm on Pixel 6 with Telstra and the February update is available for me now. Super annoying when they hold the yearly updates back, only reason I don't throw away old SIM cards

      • +1

Does it need a SIM to do an update? if you pull out the SIM and use wifi, can't update it?

    • +14

You want someone to do the search for you?!
You could have just done it yourself instead of typing the question!

      • +8

But I want you to spoon feed me…..

      • +3

He doesn't want an answer, he's just trolling.

      [Refurb] iPhone 8 64GB $279 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Coles https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/677445

      :3
      iPhone 8 + 8 = iPhone 16 for ~$560

    • +1

Partner got the 12 despite the 13 being available and only $100-$150 more expensive, because she wanted a specific colour.
So there is still a market for the 12.

      • +6

She didnt slap a cover on it after getting it, did she?

        • Transparent cover

          • @ShouldIBuyIt: Ok, still a bit of a shame as the transparent covers take away from how nice the phone looks naked.

        • lol +20 if I could

  • Has anyone installed CalyxOS on the pixel 6/pro? Want to know how it went and if any issues especially with battery life

  • +1

Can I price match at Jbhifi for pixel 6 pro?

    • or OW for a further 5% off.

      • Most of the OW near me/NSW says 'limited availability'..

    • No they refuse as they are a Telstra partner. Some bs right I bought pixel 6, got my Fitbit last week.

  • Spy phones 😆

  • -2

Only if it is iPhone 13

  • -2

iPhone 12 128GB is on discount at OW/JB so the saving of $250 is actually $130. This is Telstra - No way there is any eligible plan that will cost less than $130 in total.

  • Will Pixel phones with more storage also be discounted? The link says 'Sneak peek' so I am hoping so.

  • +1

Looks like luke don't bother posting deals directly in here afterall the backlash from the OzB community…

  • What's considered an "Eligible Mobile plan"

    • I guess any of the plans? Cheapest is $55 a month for 40 gb data. Equates to $660 for 12 months if Telstra will allow you to do that. Not a bad deal I guess.

  • No s21? 😢

    • The S21 I got at the last Telstra day is currently back with them for a random rebooting problem.

  • +2

Just got the pixel pro 6 yesterday and its dropping calls. Quick google search shows its a common thing!! :( Anyone else having this problem? Any resolution?

    • Mines so far so good… touch wood…

    • no issues here,

    • I havent had that problem. Had mine for about 2 weeks

    • +1

Get in touch with Google or the seller you bought from to get an exchange.

    • Have you installed the January update? People report that quite a few launch bugs were fixed by it
It's weird that all the faults I have often read online I haven't experienced even before the January update. (Yes, slow fingerprint reader but to me it isn't overly slow). The only fault I've had is with the 2nd Gen wireless charger refusing to charge every so often. Best of luck in getting the issue fixed.

    • Yeah I got this, or calls refusing to connect.

And the horrible battery life that barely last till 6pm.

I sure can pick em! 😭

      • +1

Battery life stabilises after a week. I've turned off 5G as my provider doesn't have access to the network. It stopped the phone from searching for it.

        • That hasn't been my experience, had 5G off for a month, still struggling to get to the end of the day…

    • Is VoLTE enabled? If not, is WCDMA (3G) enabled? Calls need one of those.

    • Yes, I had that issue. It persisted after the Jan update. So I got a full refund

      • Who gave you the refund?
I've got mine on a Telstra plan paying it off over 24 mths

        • +1

          Google. I don't do 24mnth plans.

          Bought it directly from Google

    • I've had it since day one and have never had a dropped call on Telstra.

    • Works well for me. ( Bought a pixel 6 pro last year)

  • Question for Pixel 6 owners, does the tensor chip actually make your day to day life easier/better?

    • +5

Personally i don't really see a difference. I'm kind of getting sick of the phone. In my experience the video and front camera quality is horrible, there are still many glitches, and Google aren't updating the devices properly (they even had to recall one of the updates because it was so problematic)

I might switch back to my Note or 13

      • Got a P6Pro on launch and kinda agree with alot of the sentiment here. It's good, but it's best feature was probably the battery, camera and refresh rate compared to my old phone. Other than that, I think I'll be selling this phone once it's been paid off later this year.

      • +1

From what i've seen with the camera, it makes the blues look very artificial. Yes, it appeals to the masses who like very colourful, HDRy photos, but it seemed a bit overedited to me.

        • I agree, the camera is very opinionated and loves HDR which you can't turn off. I personally hate the look. You can shoot in RAW but it'd be nice to get just a decent basic jpeg. Battery life on my Pixel 6 is also absolutely dismal. It'll be my last android for a while if an update doesn't fix it in the next couple of months.

      • If you are with Telstra or similar it could be limiting your updates :( Try get a Optus sim in there for the latest and hopefully greatest.

    • Touchscreen still has the problem of freezing after the latest update. Even their own Chrome sometimes crashes when browsing Internet.

    • +2

Only feature that is truly amazing is the voice dictation Just dictating this now and all the punctuation etc is done for you and far far quicker than typing.

      • +3

Except that it missed the full-stop at the end of the first sentence and another full-stop following etc. (abbreviation). :-)

        • +1

Ha ha I was thinking the same thing, you can type quicker if you drop punctuation too.

I’m dictating this using Siri, and she does a decent enough job.

          • @Mitch889: There's no comparison between the two. Even the Pixel 5 was nowhere near as quick as the the Tensor. Random quick YouTube demo for emphasis!

          • @Mitch889: You are kidding mate.
I have both the iPhone 12 Pro Max and Pixel 6 pro.
Dictation in Siri is like a class 5 student typing.

            • +1

@darkmattersunB6c0MV: I never said it was better, I said Siri “does a decent enough job”.

Clearly, Tensor doesn’t help with comprehension.

  • A friend of mine has a Pixel 6 Pro and suffers from a lot of the same issues reported by MKBHD https://youtu.be/wJ7A1C_HzEE

The January update has fixed some issues, but it is still buggy https://youtu.be/MljzIvlvk7w

  • +1

Pixels are the best phones for JAV consumers

  • What are the eligible plans? Do I need to add a new plan even if I already have an existing plan with Telstra?

  • +2

Here's the full list of deals for tomorrow's Telstra Day, folks.

    https://exchange.telstra.com.au/telstra-day-february-2022/

    • Hey Luke is back may the force be wth u

  • +6

If you never own a Pixel before and trying to jump on the bandwagon because of all the hypes about this phone and you value your user experience then DON'T do it !
I regret buying my Pixel 6 because it is not user friendly and it does heat up if you watch more than 20 mins of YouTube. The phone scanner still doesn't work well so stick with your Samsung or iPhone brand !

    • +7

      Ha, all these negs :)
Sorry I didn't know we can't post real user's experience here, I thought I am helping other potential buyers here because that is truly my experience with Pixel 6 so don't know what the problem is.

      • What is a phone scanner?

        • Apology, I should have said fingerprint scanner, it still doesn't work as it supposed to be on mine, I have entered the same finger two times and still doesn't work most of the time.

        • -1

Fingerprint scanner on the phone screen, I would presume. Thought it was obvious.

  • Why do they never do Telstra Day offers for SIM / prepaid plans? The only way to get overseas calling is through Telstra direct SIMs and they don't offer anything good with those :-(

  • +2

If you're also looking for a plan, then go to JBHiFi get the Telstra $79 plan ($99 but with $20 lifetime discount); and Telstra will supply JB with a voucher to the value of of the Pixel.

    • Is the$20 lifetime discount a continuing offer? Do you just ask for this with puppy eyes?

  • +1

Feels like a sale on old iPhones and Pixels they can’t sell 🤔

  • Anyone able to get Officeworks to price match Telstra Day deals?

    • Good luck. Won’t happen

    • I got iPhone 12 price matched with OW and got it for $977.

      • Did you do it instore?

        • No. I rang customer care and the executive was happy to price match.
