Free Calls/SMS and Roaming Charges to Ukraine @ Optus

5040

A great initiative from Optus. Hope this senseless war ends soon.

During this challenging time, we know staying connected is more important than ever. That is why Optus is crediting all calls and SMS to Ukraine, and roaming charges for Ukraine, until at least 13 March 2022.

We will be automatically crediting standard international calling and SMS charges for calls made from Australia to Ukraine from 28/02/2022 until at least 13/03/2022.
The same applies for international roaming charges for roaming usage in Ukraine during the same period of time.
For calling, this applies to eligible Consumer and Business Fixed and Postpaid Mobile plans in Australia. Customers on Optus Choice Plus plans will first need to purchase the Group 3 International Calling Pack to access calling entitlements to Ukraine.
For roaming, usage incurred on eligible Consumer and Business Postpaid Mobile plans will be credited. The credit will reflect on the relevant bill/invoice as “Ukraine Conflict Credit”.

Damn…they are gonna rock on with their fishing boats and a single operational training Aircraft Carrier group so they have enough troops to invade Australia. They will definitely skip Philippines and all the SEA countries so they can just sail half way across the world to invade the 2nd largest land mass in the southern hemisphere simply because our leaders want to shirt front them.

Bloody legendary sheep has arisen from the Murdoc media brain washing machine. Time to join the army to fight for Taiwan / invade China to defend "Freedom & Democracy"…go on give Dutton a call. Your profile image checks out.

Unfortunately way to many bots and trolls in this chat giving false political opinion. Please DYOR. Stay safe families in Ukraine. Our families in other countries are looking after your loved ones.

      • Nub,7 posts since 2012. At least I post 90 deals here since 2015, to help everyone out, and leave politics out of it.

        • One of the things that makes this website so successful is the discussions. And I'm sure the owners understand this and that's why these conversations flourish. But also thank you for the deals, some look great.

@[Deactivated]: Well I don't see how you being critical of my username would be classified as a "discussion". We are all humans trying to survive in one way or another. You may have different opinion to me but it doesn't make either of us wrong. It all comes down to our life experiences. Hence please DYOR.

Would've really been helpful for us if Afghanistan had it as well. So much double standard in the Western world tbh, makes me sick!

This came up in my feed. I believe its an Indian channel but they still speak English and make some very valid points on partial Western ideology:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBRwmTVVKQk

      • Very valid points, however there's been hundreds if not thousands of interviews so far - that single interview with that Ukranian man on the BBC somehow became the flashpoint for so much of this. Yes the constant subliminal messaging is bad, the mentioning of ethnicity was outrageous, and aside from that, the US meddling in the Middle East driven by racism was appalling. But not so sure about this Ukranian racism rhetoric in terms of media coverage, given how much of a focus there was on Afghanistan at some points (it was decades long after all).

Good initiative by Optus. Ukraine is suffering and their innocent people are paying the price for no fault.

But is it just me or does the western media, companies and their allies world wide in general have a strong bias towards Western/European countries?

I remembered the world was a bit miffed when the US illegally invaded Iraq on false charges. But the reaction was never this strong. Did not see anyone light up in "Iraqi" colors. They had a terrible govt and ruler but surely the people themselves were not to blame. They were victims too.
That war gave us a global recession and ISIS many years later. The middle east became more of a cesspool. And the US could not get the job done in Afghanistan as they had to fight on two fronts. That led to the defeat last year.

I feel Putin used the same tricks out of that book.

An illegal and unjust invasion but having precedence in what the US did. I think Putin will regret this but the message is loud and clear. If you have the might, then noone can stop you. I foresee China invading Taiwan in the near future and triggering another chip disaster for the world.

The saying that "there was no one left to speak up for me" is very apt in this case. Really wish we spoke up more against global bullies like the US, Russia and China.

Good analysis but there's another bully who foments lots of wars but you're not allowed to mention them.

I'm an Afghan myself and yes Taliban are horrible but the US literally invaded the whole country and had it occupied for 2 decades and the result was mass killings and destruction, e.g. Panjwai Massacre. I would take Taliban over the US troops any day, even though I'm an atheist.

the most dangerous words you can ever hear is, were from the government and were here to help!

Rather interesting development. As an Optus customer went online and had a chat with the rep. I asked if this initiative can be extended to cover calls made to Russia, not that I need it :-)) - "yep no worries, we document it now and you'll be credited for the calls to Russia as well." Wow!

    Might be helpful to someone?

Hunter lost 3 laptops, 1 to the Russians, 1 to the Chinese and the last in the USA. Makes you wonder how off his rocker he was, or he wanted to be caught/stopped

      • I guess he's just a super anti-racist, equal opportunity guy.

That's really such a big change, when I work with Vodafone, a guy ask to call familiy that during war, rates 2.8 per mins and I help to compare prices Vodafone was most cheap one,so I suggest using Text message that only charge 10c, looks only Ukraine gets sympathy
