can anyone actually comment on the quality of HDR of the AW3821DW.

not that good apparently, it is only HDR600 after all

    • +2

It’s OK. Big difference with it on vs off, much prefer to leave it on (despite blooming which is hardly a problem, don’t watch movies on the PC).

Using Windows 11 with auto HDR makes a massive difference. No brainer - solid deal.

      • I agree, it is better with HDR on whilst gaming for me, I also don't watch movies or shows on it. I've owned other 27inch monitors (LG and Dell) with "HDR" and unlike them, this one actually works and makes a difference.

However as others have said, if you can wait and save up a bit more you might be able to get the new QD-OLED monitor on a deal and you'll get the ultimate HDR experience.

    • +1

At the price you're looking to pay save up and wait for either a Dell or Samsung QD-OLED deal. Should be around the same price, with vastly superior response times, color gamut, colour accuracy and HDR capability.

Fingers crossed that the Samsung release has BFI, which would make it the best ultrawide on the market.

    • The HDR is good in my opinion, but the lighting zones are shithouse. Wish I could turn them off.

    • +1

You would be making a big mistake nt going for the QD-OLED instead.

      • Agreed. I have the LG 38 and I would be buying the Alienware 34 right now.

      • QD-Oled is 175hz, pretty sure this is 240hz

  • +1

Any idea how can we use this if afterpay limit is not enough?

    • +1

if you want to get it using the afterpay 4x installments, its going to be tough. But in the previous afterpay promo, you could just buy giftcards(you'll get some x% cashback too) and pay the remaining amount using afterpay. Probably will work the same way for this promo too.

      • hopefully that's the case, just trying to use the promo.

      • which gift card the ebay gift card? it does not show any % cash back?

    • +1

Funnily enough if you want to Afterpay the whole amount, buy giftcards through Afterpay's giftcard site, and apply the giftcard/s at checkout. The option to Afterpay the remaining balance then opens up, just purchase enough giftcard balance to bring the remaining balance below your threshhold, max 8 giftcards at checkout unless discount code T&Cs state otherwise.

  • +2

Hey OP. do you know if the S3422DWG will be on sale?

    • +1

Only Dell items that have Afterpay will be included in this promo. If it isn't an option now then it won't be part of the promo.

      • Hi
Why are the lead times so long for the aw3821dw?

  • AW3821DW or AW3423DW?

    • if you want an insane picture quality and the QD OLED technology then the AW3423DW, if you want more screen realestate then AW3821DW. I made the move from my AW3821DW, hopefully it'll be worth it.

      • I’ll leave folks like you to brave the world of burn-in (burn-out technically) - static environments like a desktop monitor seem like the last place I’d want OLED, regardless of warranty. It simply brings forward the e-waste appointment.

        • QD OLED specifically adresses this issue.

          • +1

@seerious: No one knows until it's out there and given time. Both Samsung AMOLED and LG WOLED are very different but both have burn-in in the PC environment.

        • -2

Not a thing since at least the LG B8.

        • +2

          "ADVANCED EXCHANGE SERVICE
Your monitor comes with a 3-year Advanced Exchange Servicei so that if a replacement becomes necessary, it will be shipped to you the next business day during your 3-year Limited Hardware Warrantyi. (Includes OLED-burn in.)"

          https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/alienware-34-curved-qd-oled-…

          What burn in concerns?

          • @Arcticfox:

            What burn in concerns?

            "…the e-waste appointment…." ←Those concerns

After the monitors are replaced, where do you think the defective ones go?

            • -4

@[Deactivated]: So you believe they have built in the 3 years warranty with the intention of replacing them multiple times within that period?

Where do you think all defective monitors go? Why are you not upset with all other manufacturers (on the planet) for making faulty products which also need to become e-waste? You are pointing out something that does not just happen to this monitor.

My point is, providing a 3 year warranty shows confidence in their product. Which should give higher peace of mind to the buyer that burn in won't occur. Time will tell if this is true, but saying this is now e-waste when it is barely out yet is just silly.

              • @Arcticfox:

So you believe they have built in the 3 years warranty with the intention of replacing them multiple times within that period?

Yes. It will likely be for a low single-digit percentage of users, but that will have ABSOLUTELY been priced-into the product AND the marketing message.

I'm going to ignore the rest of your response as it's laden with logical fallacies and not worth a considered reply.

                • +1

@[Deactivated]: You can ignore what ever you want buddy, I'm happy for you to feel good about your response. I don't care as much as you do.

But I will not let my purchasing decisions be based on your logic. I have enough assurances to take the risk regardless of what you would do in the same situation.

        • IPS “burns out” far worse than WOLED let alone improved QD-OLED. The brightness and colour gamut loss on IPS screens over time is substantial.

          • +2

@tp0: IPS burns out evenly, so you won't notice any dirty patterns despite it is overall less bright.

OLED burns in pixel by pixel, so in a desktop env with frequent static image/icon/logo/hud, it's just a matter of time, to develop permanent dirty patterns. Could be 1 year, could be 10 years, depends on how you use it. QD looks much less intensive but it still SAME design and will suffer SAME (but less) burns in.

            • @narcolepsy: OLED could develop dirty patterns whereas IPS has it out of the box with absolutely garbage black and grey uniformity.

              • @tp0: I'm just replying you on the single point of IPS "burns out" result is better than OLED "burns in" result.

And I think both are great technologies and brought us wonderful experiences across different times and situations.

    • The main thing for you to decide is size.

  • @dealbot any chance of including the AW3821DW with the extended warranty too? Or can this be added after purchase instead perhaps?

    • last time dell had a laptop sale i was looking at one of the aw laptops and I was able to msg the dell ebay rep and they got me a link with extended warranty and with the coupon still active. didnt went through with the purchase in the end but i think you can also do the same thing here.

  • +2

@dealbot any deals for the AW3423DW?

Listed at full MSRP, so wait for a Dell 20% sale for anything decent.

    • Not for the Afterpay promo. Only selected models for this sale.

  • i bought the s271qs monitor for $330 last deal 2 months ago anyone know why theres vertical lines showing up had one at first but now have like 5, doesn't bother me to much i think you get a 3 year warranty anyway

    • +3

just get it rma'd man not worth risking the problem developing further

    • Try a different video cable. Despite a digital signal, you can get artifacts. Although usually it's in quite long or complex cable runs and I've only seen it produce moving green fuzz/speckles not lines

  • Any comment on g15 5515 laptop?

    • +1

      It's okay

Trash panel but it is pretty cheap. You can get a 3060 laptop for similiar or slightly higher price on a sale but they come with worse cpu (usually intel 10300h/10400h on a nitro 5 with an equally trash panel)

In most games the nitro 5 with 3060 will run better but if you are a hardcore csgo/valorant etc player this one gives more fps since these games are much more cpu intensive.

      • The link is for higher cpu

  • +1

Damn, that G3223Q is so new there's no proper reviews on it yet

    • +1

Yeah but spec-wise it looks too good to skip. 32 inch, 4k, IPS and 165 Hz combo are usually seen from 1k+ monitors only. I really want to skip this deal to wait for review, but don't know if the next deal come up it will still keep this price or not

    • Yeah, I need rtings dot com to tell me if it is good or not.

  • +1

Any reason not to get the g3223q??? It looks like a beast

    • 4k, HDMI 2.1, and 144Hz. It looks like a perfect match for the PS5.

      • +1

Yeah I don't think we can find any other 32 inch 4K IPS monitor with 144 Hz+ from a reputable brand at this price. The closest one that I know is Gigabyte M32U, which is 1059$ lowest at Umart.

    • FOV.

Consoles game FOV is set to sit far back from the screen and isn't usually adjustable.

    • +1

Still waiting for a 4k 144hz display with USB C… so I can have my gaming pc & macbook (via usb c) hooked up… we were so close with this one. At least the g3223d got it.

      • It's only 15W PD though… that seems unfathomable to me. Make it 90W or heck even 100W and the G3223D would be so appealing to so many. Ugh, so frustrating.

Or even the newly released U3023E which has the other problem of not offering high refresh rate & VRR.

        EDIT: The USB-C input on the G3223D only supports 1440p @ 60Hz… I'm flabbergasted.

EDIT#2: Actually, the USB-C might support up to 165Hz. The User Guide conflicts itself.

  • @dealbot going to "see full description" on G3223Q's eBay page shows the size as 34" and the resolution as 3440*1440.

    • True, however the 'Tech Specs' page on the Dell website list it as: 4K UHD (2160p) 3840 x 2160 at 144 Hz

I think part of the eBay listing may be incorrect, as it also lists differing brightness specifications

      • Yea the Dell website has it correct. I was pointing out the error in the ebay one

  • 27" 4K seems pretty reasonable

    • +2

That one was as low as 289$ iirc, so not so impressive (still a good deal).

      • Good point!

I need 4K for PS5, I'm trying to decide I'll I set it up in my living area or out it in my study/studio. I'd also like to try mouse/keyboard.

I figured I can use a 32" for my music, and have a 27" like this on the side for PS5 and double up for music

    • I'd suggest researching 27" @ 4k. Many don't like it, including me.

This is because you can't really use it at its native 4k scaling, all UI elements become very tiny. So people tend to run at 2x scaling (effectively 1080p resolution but very sharp). Otherwise, if you run at 1.5x scaling (1440p) you might as well get a 1440p monitor and not worry about scaling anything, with things just running at native resolution. 1440p is also easier for GPUs to render the frames and that sort of thing.

Maybe you'll love 27" @ 4k though? Just wanted to pass on some words of warning so you research a bit further.

  • Can anyone recommend a good second monitor for watching movies/tv shows etc. I’ve got a basic monitor but a lot of content looks garbage on it.

  • +1

Any chance we’ll see the S2721DS closer to the $250 Boxing Day sales again?

    • No

      • Will we see any deals for S2721DS within the next few months?

  • -1

Purchased the AW3821DW 6 months ago now it won’t go into standby or sometimes won’t turn on after fresh boot, tried everything fresh install, new cable, connected pc to tv goes into standby fine. How is dells refund policy do they give you hell.

  • +16

Removing the two G monitors from this post. Got word that these will be better priced during the next 20% promo.

    • Thanks! that's great info

    • Glad I checked this post again, cheers.
Any idea when we could expect that promo?

      • +6

        Next week.

        • Will any of these be better next week:
          - U3821DW
          - AW3821DW
          - U4021QW

          Thanks

        • thanks

    • Will this be on their ebay store? and I'm assuming 20% off $1,057.65 so $846.12? Thanks

  • +1

Do you need to pay with Afterpay for these deals? Have only used it once and my limit falls well short of the 38".

    • To answer my own question, yes you need to pay with Afterpay and yes the limit was an issue. Used discounted gift cards to make up the difference.

      • where do you get discounted cards from? the ebay card on afterpay is not discounted.

        • I used AAMI rewards and Shopback app

  • +3

Any deal on the S2721DGF? Really keen to get a second monitor

  • Any deals coming soon for S2721Q? I currently already have a S2721Q but looking at getting monitor arms for a dual screen set up. Since there's no technical differences between the two, should I just wait since the extra adjustment options will be null with arms?

  • Any flat 32" 4K monitor? For 32" I prefer flat screen.

    • There is a Dell 32" 4K which is flat screen linked in the post, however it is recommend you wait till next week for a better deal on that particular monitor

      • Thanks but I don't really need a gaming monitor, prefer a cheaper flat screen 32" UHD model.

  • -1

@dealbot I recently just bought the G15 from the dell website, is it possible to get a refund on this ?

    Thank you for your time

  • Offer shows for AW3423DW, but when you checkout because the pre-coupon price is above $2k you can't select afterpay, and can't apply the coupon.

    • +1

I saw the same and it even states apply the Afterpay code and get for $1999 but same issue, can't select due to being over $2k.

A thought though. If you buy a $300 Ebay Gift card to bring it down to under $2k and then can select Afterpay with Code?

I don't really want to try if it fails but if it does will this be a good price or wait for the DELL 20% off sales making it $1839.20?

      • That was a great idea and I tried it and it works. I bought the ebay gift card on the shopback app for a 3% cashback and applied it to drop the price to $2000 and then the afterpay coupon went through.

  • +1

    I'm in on a AW3821DW. Thanks DealBot.

  • Can anyone confirm you can use the AFPYDY code and just pay with eBay gc’s?

    • I paid for about 70% of my order with discounted gift cards, no issues. Not sure It would work for 100% or not

  • sweet was looking at samsung 49 but wanted the 21:9 aspect ratio and the AW3821DW is $100 cheaper than before I am all in.

  • -1

Having another credit inquiry is not worth a $56 discount on the $319 monitor

    • +1

AP doesn’t do credit card does it? Zip does it.

    • Not the same as Zip / Klarna. Credit score affected only if you don't make the repayments in time.

  • This could be a rookie mistake but can I not buy an eBay gift card from Shopback and then use this gift card and the AFPYDY code at the same time?

    • I have tried that other afterpay promotions over the least year and it hasn't worked. I saw an old post saying it worked at one point but I guess they closed the loop hole.

    • It's a $400 voucher for the $399 monitor so do I have to use a portion of it to pay the rest by Afterpay? What's the minimum Afterpay amount?

    • I worked it out… Bought another item with the GC for $85 (which brought it down to $315) and then used the rest of the GC plus Afterpay for the rest and it worked so got the discount on the Monitor plus the discount on the GC ($12)

  • Is there any way to buy the AW38 for $1399 not using AP? I want to buy two but my AP limit is only $1700.
