No room for sound bar in my setup.

    • I wonder why din’t they think about this. Works if you mount the TV though. Doesn't work for tenants like me who are in rented properties.

M1 14 inch is also 10% on amazon

The OLED is $2880 + Delivery @ Videopro for those interested.

  • I can get 20% with abn/gst back, but still 2.5k for a 14”.

is that hard to do? need a new MacBook for rekordbox and have an ABN for DJ'ing as a sole trader. would this work?

      • It will only work if you are registered for GST, which most people won't be unless your business endeavour is earning over 75k per year or has lots of purchases where U want to claim GST. Correct me if I'm wrong someone

        • You can voluntarily register for GST even if you don't meet the 'must register for GST' thresholds.

Sounds like this is the best deal!

      AOC store should be cheaper

  • Any clues about 20% off Music (CD/Vinyl/DVD) for Good Friday?

    Any deals on 48" please?

Rare as hens teeth, looking myself for a bedroom.

      • Wouldn't the Gigabyte AORUS FO48U at $1079 + Google TV work for a 48" TV?

Still the same OLED panel as the C1 with a 3yr warranty, sure the C1 has better features overall but the lowest its been is $600 more than the FO48U right now.

It doesn't do full whizbang HDMI 2.1 spec is my understanding

  • Is the student deal better or can the two stack? I presume the student deal is only through Apple so probably not. Thanks.

What student deal are you referring to?

      • If you're talking about Apple Education Store pricing, JB Hi-Fi stores can price-match the Apple Education Store if you can show evidence that you're a university student (e.g. uni ID). However, if you are not looking to do a custom build, you may find that JB Hi-Fi is probably still cheaper through the 10% off deal anyway; for example, the base-tier 14" MBP is $2699 at JB Hi-Fi vs $2769 at Apple. If you really want to purchase it from Apple, you're probably better off calling Apple (133 622) or going into an Apple Store and asking them to price match JB Hi-Fi; strictly speaking, Apple does not have a formal price-matching policy, but the rep on the phone or the manager on duty at the Apple Store may be nice enough to price match JB Hi-Fi. You cannot price-match through Apple's website.

      • If you're talking about Apple On Campus (AOC) Education Stores (e.g. Australian Education Union, UniSA), JB Hi-Fi will not price-match them, as they're portals only certain groups of people are permitted to purchase from. (To be fair, Apple rarely (if ever) asks for you to provide evidence you're an AEU member or a UniSA student, but I never said that…) For reference, the AOC portals ($2658.70) are probably still cheaper than this deal from JB Hi-Fi ($2699).

      • If you are talking about some other student idea, I have no idea what you're referring to.

If you are set on purchasing from Apple or JB Hi-Fi, you can use current gift card deals at Coles or Woolworths to have 10% of the gift cards' value given back to you in the form of rewards points. If you ask me, getting $250+ back by purchasing some gift cards is not the worst idea, particularly if you are not planning to use a credit card with any insurance perks tied to it.

        Thanks for the info!

Yep was referring to the Apple edu store. Interesting that JB is often cheaper with 10% off, I will compare prices between the two options.

Also thanks for the gift card deal info, was not aware of that.

Apple does have a retail price matching policy but has product exclusions which vary from time to time. They price match up to 10% from Apple Authorised Resellers (including Amazon). You would need to check in-store what the product exclusions are.

        • Interesting. I asked them about price matching in person and they told me they only price match physical AU stores, so no Amazon. But they didn’t mention anything about “authorised resellers”.

I believe that 10% off apple gift cards combined with cashback from the apple aoc store (not sure if that has cashback) is the cheapest way.
    14 base model pro becomes 2660-10% = 2394

  • What's the difference between Macbook Pro and Air? I see they use the same processor chip? Is the refurbished worth it?

    • +1

If you're referring to the 13 inch Pro model.

The screen is slightly brighter on the Pro
The speakers are slightly louder on the Pro
The Pro has the touch bar
The Pro has fans for cooling

I looked at the two options and decided that I prefer the Air. You can actually install a thermal pad that allows the Air to use the bottom of the case for cooling in intense CPU/GPU situations. The Air actually performs as well as the Pro even over prolonged usage. I decided that I value no moving parts for the silence of the system more than anything else.

The Air with M1 is insanely powerful. There is nothing offered by any other brand that offers this kind of performance for the money. The screen and sound is so close to the Pro that it's not noticeable.

  • I only clicked because I thought it's 2995 + 59 for both items
