  • At Umart or eBay Umart?

Edit: yupz at Umart just similar code to eBays AFTER10 code 😜👍

Now would anyone swear by the Noctua NT-H2 Thermal Paste? Usually use mx-4 paste grey paste also

I don't think Umart has an ebay shop?

      Edit:
Found it, unfortunately they don't sell the NT-H2

      https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_dmd=2&_dkr=1&iconV2Reque…

      • Great find too OP, green thumbs up 👍 ok yellow on my end lolz

Yes, I swear by NT-H2. It is very similar to MX-5. And MX-5 is usually cheaper. MX-4 is closer to NT-H1. Between these, I'd just pick the most cost effective, which is MX-4 or NT-H1.

I am testing NT-H2's long term stability, so hopefully it lasts much longer than the NT-H1 and doesn't dry out after 3 years.

    • I have been using NT-H2 on my latest build (5900x) and the performance is quite good. About the same if not better than MX-4/5.

  • Anyone know if the AFTERPAY20 code is a one off? eBays AFTERPAY10 code was a one off sadly 🤣

Ok 5x of these at $6 so $10 after discount is cheap
32gb usb A sticks, let's see if it's worth to post

So far I have bought 5 pc parts from umart with the Afterpay code, just use a different email alias each time to make a new umart account, strangely enough I have been paying all through the SAME afterpay account and it still works.

      • Reply to myself above standard $7 postage,.. so total $37 for 5x 32gb usb sticks umm minus $20 AFTERPAY20 discount,.. so total $17 so each 32gb USB-A stick $3.40 each,.. umm not to shabby I think

Better then AliExpress deals I think 🤔

      • Are you doing pickup click and collect only? as delivery is not working for me,. well I used afterpay as payment and that's were I placed the code but going into afterpay payment doesn't show the total discounted by $20, am I doing something wrong or this click and collect only?

Edit: or one each off item can add to qualify for discount

        • +1

I tried to have a look but looks like it is already sold out. You might need to choose a different thermal paste. I have put an updated link for other thermal pastes you can buy with the discount.

          • @WonMoreDollar: Was for the 5x 32gb USB-A memory sticks, yeah maybe that's sold out too

Anyone for a bit aRGB bling on there AM4 socket cpu,.. $30 on the dot, coolmaster brand,. so should be $10 pickup or plus $7 postage on top

            https://www.umart.com.au/product/cooler-master-a71c-argb-am4…

BIG EDIT: using AFTERPAY20 code doesn't help

Edit again: and need to select/tick afterpay payment before applying voucher

Gonna try to add everything in carts first with different browsers (or incognito tabs) and voucher applied before hitting pay now wonder if theyll all go through or OPs option multiple Umart accounts

Umm great if somehow can group postage costs for each purchase group, so get as much milage out of the $7 postage costs

Am I insanely tight or a true blue Ozbargainer or there's no difference lolz

Man, good price. A slice of bread and some salt and pepper and you're good

GC-Extreme is only $14 or $15 for the same amount on Amazon.

After recently finishing 10G tubes of this, and the Gelid; I'll be sticking with Gelid.

Just nicer to use in every way, and I saw the same results as every online test; somewhere between 0.5 and 2 deg cooler in my uses.

Do builders just set and forget or should paste be renewed every once in a while?

    • +1

Usually people suggest replacing it every few years as it dries out and isn't as useful when dry (generally cracks making sections where it's missing) but unless you have a >90w CPU, the thermal throughput is usually enough not to worry.

If you buy secondhand PC's I always suggest replacing the thermal paste and cleaning the PC though, as you have no idea how the previous person ran it.

Some pastes need replacing every few years. The ones which are highest performing like Kryonaut seem to need replacement even more frequently.

I found that thicker and more difficult to spread pastes to last very long. This NT-H2 is very difficult to spread, worse than Arctic Silver 5, but yet has much better thermal performance than most pastes out there outside of the overclocker pastes.

I built my PC over two years ago and had read that you should replace it every couple of years. I also read somewhere else that you can just about set and forget. I have my temperatures displayed somewhere constantly especially if I'm running something that I expect to heat up my CPU. I know what temps my CPU should be at so I don't think I will bother replacing my paste until I notice it running higher than normal. Haven't got a threshold in mind yet though.

      • Cpu is easy one too replace paste when one has a water cooler setup, usually 4 screws off she comes, even leave cpu in socket and don't have too move PC,.. just those spring/clip type air cooling cpu heatsink/fan setups ok too come off but what a pain too put back, then definitely have to move case on its side of course remove/detach all cables in back of PC to do so, spaghetti behind my PC case lolz

      • With a paste like NT-H2, if you replace your CPU every 3-5 years, it is possible that you don't need to repaste until your next CPU upgrade.

I used my 1st gen i7 from 2008 until 2021. So I did repaste across a few years using NT-H1 and Arctic Silver 5. NT-H1 lasted shorter than AS5, but AS5 did not really have that good a cooling performance to begin with. My original 2008 tubes of NT-H1 and AS5 also behaved differently. The NT-H1 dried out after about 10 years and was not usable. AS5 was still good like original, only a slight amount of separation, not much and still worked great. It took me about 12 years to finish the tube of AS5, it's the only tube of thermal paste that I did not have to throw out because it is unusable.

For now, my go to is NT-H2, I have a 10g tube from last year. For this deal, if you do have many devices such as older PS3, PS4, laptops and other PCs, it could be worth picking up the 10g tube of NT-H2 for $24 ($44 minus $20).

    • Once every 6-7 years for me

Nice code, instead of thermal paste, I bought the Microsoft Bluetooth numberpad to go with my RK61 keyboard.
