250

The same Trade-in deal as this (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/696271) now with added accesories pack. Which by the looks of it includes free

  • 25W charger
  • Galaxy S22 Ultra Leather Cover
  • umm… screen protector is in the picture but in my cart only above 2 got added, wonder if it randomly picks accessories.S22 doesn't come with it pre-applied)

RRP - 1849
Exchange Value of your device calculated by Ausrion = X
You pay = 1849 - 500 (bonus) - 100 (loyalty) - X = 1249 - X
If you don't qualify for loyalty I guess one can use newsletter voucher $50.
where X is the exchange value.
If you don't send device there is at least $60 additional fee. Refer other post (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/696271) for more commentary.
So the net price can range from anything $1249-X (loyalty & you send device) to $1359 (newsletter + penalty for not sending)

  • what is (minus exchange) ?

    • trade in?

      • Updated description

        • Where is the $100 loyalty mentioned on the product page? I dont see it.

    • I think s/he meant trade in. But the price of the 128GB is $1849 and the trade in bonus is $500, making the minimum $1349, not $1249, unless I've missed something?

      • $100 loyalty voucher which you can get through live chat.

        • -1

But thats not guaranteed - from experience its hit and miss, therefore should be excluded from this deals info.

        • I pushed pretty hard for this just now and kept getting referred to the $50 sign up one. To the point the chat person deliberately ignored any questions about the loyalty thing from the beginning and just kept repeating "the $50 voucher is available now". Didn't even say that was the only offer.

  • They value my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra at only $540 in excellent condition.. Thanks Samsung.

    • Considering Accessories ($100) & Bonus($500) & Loyalty($100) - just think of it as $1240 & bonus Care+
      May not be that bad.

      • +2

I'm thinking of it as paying an extra $709 + my s21 ultra for a s22 ultra + accessories + Samsung care. That's a terrible deal in my books considering it's only a marginal upgrade.

        • About $1100 for a second hand S21 ultra in good nick from my research.

          • +1

@matttttt: Pretty good considering I got the 512gb for $1080 from the sales last sept

    • Very low trade in amount

    • +3

Then simply don’t send it back and sell it on FB or Gumtree for better price, max you will be charged additional $60 for not returning the device. But can still get $500 trade-in bonus.

      • +1

I get that, but I was just making a point that Samsung is valuing last year's flagship device with an RRP of $1,849 for only $540 which is kind of a joke. I'm not going to upgrade.

        • +1

Thats real value of Samsung phones actually 😅

      • +1

I just tried trade in app for my S21 Ultra and it says that if I do not return the device i will be charged $685. My trade in value given was $585.

        • May be they have increased the non-return fee from $60 to $100…!!!

  • +6

sucks that samsung didnt put a factory screen protector for the S22 Ultra like they did they S21 Ultra

    • I find it funny that everyone puts a cheap screen protector on a >$1000 phone. Just try to avoid putting your phone in your pocket with your keys and the fancy gorilla glass on the front of your phone will be fine. Even with a little scratch it's about 100X better than an piece of crappy plastic which will bubble, lift at the corners, etc

      • Not if you apply it correctly

        • +2

Even if applied correctly it still scratches a lot easier than gorilla glass, so you end up with a phone covered in scratches…

      • +2

Screens scratch regardless of how careful you are. The factory one on my old S21 and wife's S20FE kept them immaculate.

Ive gone through 3 fancy screen protectors already on my S22 that just don't stick right.

  • Better of selling these for $1000 straight up, just the phone.

  • bought one from Edu store with the same free gifts, care+ and FOC upgrade from 512GB to 1TB, $1719ish (in case someone needs a bigger storage than 256GB)

the $50 newsletter subscription credit never arrived, almost 2 weeks now

  • I ordered an s22U few days ago and it was still processing this morning, you think they would gibe me the free accessories also? As I think the accessory thing just came about today?

    • Sadly just came now. Happened with my friend. Order still says preparing but got delivered.
Also Accessories are added to cart when you add phone. Buyers remorse for those who took last deal. Poor from Samsung imho

      • That is poor from Samsung, I even tried chatting earlier this morning but the support people don't understand anything, they didn't even know of the free accessory promo….maybe I'll just see when the phone arrives then question them as to where my accessories are

        • That's hilarious

    • I ordered a charger which arrived before the tracking on the website updated (still says processing) so it might have shipped already.

    • Same thing happened to me….. I asked the chat guys this - they said it needs to be done when checking out phone in the one transaction unfortunately. However - they said I can put another order through and then return the original phone once I receive that (within 14 days) at no cost apparantly. So that is what I'm doing…

  • When you guys ask in the chat for the loyalty coupon, does the coupon have an expiry?
I am thinking of getting the S22 ultra soon but not yet, but not sure if I should ask for the coupon first and then wait for a deal

  • +1

How do you enter the chat to ask for voucher?

  • Is there an alternative way to obtain the $500 trade-up bonus if my phone is not listed under their trade-up program?

    • Trying to trade in my pixel 3, only the XL seems eligible for some reason. Hoping there's some way to overcome this

  • +1

I traded in my S10+ and applied a 10% loyalty discount instead of $100. The final price is $1245 for an S22 Ultra 512Gb. This includes free Samsung Care+ as well.

    • How you got 10% loyalty discount

  • +1

I don't know exactly how, but I asked for a loyalty discount and got a code that I thought was for 10%.

But this is what I have worked out:
    $2,149 for S22 Ultra 512GB

    Less $318.80 (14.835% of $2,149 ???)
    Less $500 bonus on trade-in
    Less $455 trade-in value on S21 5G 256GB

Giving a "Base price" of $875.20 with $1,273.80 off (being the sum of those three "Less" figures) listed as "Additional discounts applied"
    - $875.20 + $1,273.80 = $2,149.00

    There is additional Samsung Care+ at $149.40 for a total amount paid being $1,024.60 ($875.20 + $149.40)

Total "savings" listed as $1,381.80 — which is the addition of $1,273.80 (as above), plus $29.00 for the charger, plus $78.00 for the case, plus a random extra $1.00 ????

To muddy all that, but it doesn't quite add up, there is a "discount of $99.60" showing against "Samsung Care+ in your cart"…. so, $2,149 + $149.40 - $99.60 to give $2,198 of which 10% of that plus the $99.60 adds up to $319.48 in place of the $318.80 above). But this is closer to the expected 10% discount with the code they gave me in chat.

    • It seems that the extra "random $1" was for the Telstra plan option with the eGiftcard to come. I'll be back on Telstra for a month or two and then see what I can do porting away again. It may also be the "credit check" amount from the trade-in people, also a dollar there.

The bank has monies pending for the trade-in value…. but it should be just a "holding" value there unless I don't get the trade-in back in time.

  • can you send me the screensho? I'm keen on it

  • Hi, does anyone what happens to the bonus $500 if you fail to send the phone back?

    • +1

Pretty sure the bonus $500 is safe, the penalty of non-return is being charged the trade-in value plus $60 for the "admin" of the deal. In my case $455 trade-in plus $60 or $515 … with the bonus not going to be lost.

      • Thanks for your reply. I have also sent them an email.

        • Yes, I think it is pretty clear if you go to the trade-in page; check it out.

Also, this is an option to sell a device, but it doesn't give you any bonus:
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11368830/redir

Offering $510 for my S21 5G 256GB now, which is more than the $455 I'm getting from Samsung and if you add the $60 non-return admin fee, then it is a loss to use Boomerang (only good if I don't return the device to Samsung quickly enough).

FAQ, choose "Trading-In Return", see "WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T RETURN MY DEVICE?" — it doesn't specifically say anything about the bonus, but the trade-in value plus the non-return fee (being for admin). is mentioned.

And right now, I think that whilst there is a trade-in bonus (expires on the 16th May), the free extra charger and case are no longer showing.

          • @affinity: Ohh ok. So, I think I will check daily and wait for the next deal

            • +1

@Rakibul: Below is the reply I got from them. Looks good.

              Hi,

Thanks for your query, if you do not return your old device you will be charged the full trade-in credit (the amount you got offered for your old device). After this it will no longer be a requirement to return your old device to us. You will be charged an additional $60 admin fee for not returning the device. We hope that this information has been helpful.

Unfortunately, we do not have the exact time frame of when you will be charged, this is an automated process, and the charge should occur after 14 days has passed since you were sent your return label. To make the process as easy as possible please keep the funds available in your account.

Any bonus credit/vouchers will remain as it is. You may receive some reminder emails about returning your old device which you can ignore if you’re planning to keep that device. Any bonus credit will remain as it is.

              Regards,

              Samsung trade-up team
