Hiver - Where Can You Get Cashback?

Note: It's all over. Cashback will not apply to transactions that settle from 5pm EST Wednesday, 7 September 2022 onwards.

I don't know if this will take off, but I just thought we could pool our efforts to find out what merchants come under the cashback categories for Hiver. I'll try to add them to the post when people confirm.

Feel free to comment below with either confirmed or questions. It would be great if you update if no one answers and you find out.

See deal here if you have no idea what I'm talking about.

Finding Merchant code: Once the transaction has settled, click on the transaction and the category will be listed.

You can download your transaction history to help work out if you got all of your expected cashback. Brisdaz has requested Hiver add the Merchant Code to the file to make this easier, if you would like this added you may wish to request this also.

Merchants that work

Hiver have advised BPAY doesn't work for cashback.

Updated T&Cs advise cashback now only applies to Visa purchases (i.e. not eftpos/savings) via mobile payments (e.g. Apple/Google pay), online payments or PayWave. Some merchants, including some Coles stores, route tap and pay through eftpos, but paying through Google/Apple Pay goes through Visa (as long as you don't set it up as eftpos when you add the card to your digital wallet).

Appears to work even when paying through PayPal (does not work for Payin4) with the Hiver card.

  • Do we know if EFTPOS transactions from last month qualified for the current round of cashbacks? I risked a large EFTPOS "SAV" transaction on the weekend because I hate paying surcharges…

    • All EFTPOS transactions at Aldi worked for last month, was successfully credited this week.

I signed up 2 weeks ago, haven't got my Aug CB as of today. Anyone experiencing the same?

    • +1

      Yes.

      • +1

Me too. I bought 5k of gift cards in maximum ozbargain mode. Hope they honour it!

        • Did you do that in one transaction or multiple on separate days? Don't want it to lock up the card lol

          • @dingdong3000: Multiple over separate days. It locked the card when I did over 2k in a day on gift cards, and I got a nice call from the card fraud squad, but they unlocked the card when I confirmed it was me.

    • Only got mine just now. It's always inconsistent when you get it

    • First month cashback on the 7th next month.

  • Hi guys, I know the 5% cashback finish on 7th 5pm, so if I buy giftcard online TODAY(or even on 7th before the cut off) would I still get the cashback? my concern is payment normally goes to pending status and the settlement day is a few days later.
In another word, is it depend on the time of purchase? or settlement?
    Thanks so much

    • +3

      No one can tell.
That's why smart OZB members have already spent all their $5,000 by Sunday evening.
I purchased $1,500 Coles Myer, $500 Wish and $1,000 Only1 Visa Home & Improvement last week

      • +1

I purchased $2500 Restaurant cards with the Coles 2000 points offer approx 15% off restaurants for the next 2 years or so. Finished on Sunday as you said all cleared now.

      • -3

where to buy coles myer gift card?

        • Coles or Myer.

  • and if still valid, what's the best way to spend because I only spend a few hundred on coles? thanks

    • +1

      prepaid your power bills

      • +1

        Too late today.

  • +1

    From CS
-'To receive cashback the purchase must be fully settled before 5pm today.'
-'Unfortunately pending transaction won't be included after the deadline.'

    • Thanks- this pretty much excludes majority transactions today. I just logged in to check and my Coles purchase from yesterday is still pending.

    • I'll spend $20 today on Opal and see how it will go next month cashback.

  • +1

Myki topup and Breadtop is the only ones I can think of that settles pretty fast. Both done via visa tap and couple hours later settled.

    • Ah I thought the time needed is dependent on Hiver and not the merchants.

      • My Myki transactions remained pending until I tapped on.

        • Just topped up myki @ machines and was settled instantly

          • @dingdong3000: Forgot to mention that my top-ups were online. Credit is not applied to the card until you tap on a machine.

  • Cashback for August has been processed.

  • +2

Regarding the date of transactions, although they take a while to settle, I would have thought once they settle, they would still be time stamped as the date of transaction? After all the account is debited straight away on purchase?

  • -4

so it's over, no more cashback whatsoever?

  • They didn't pay me the full cashback. Transactions that were valid and settled weeks ago. Then there's some on the weekend that shows as settled and they didn't pay those.

    Anyone else?

    • Have you checked if they are eligible transactions, i.e MCC are in the eligible categories?

    • +3

Wouldn't the ones over the weekend be paid in October?

  • Requested to close account after withdrawing funds.

    • +1

I will make my request in October after September's cashback has arrived.

      • Didn't pay anything that setttled in first days of September - to wait for. So I'm out

        • Did you get your $10 membership share back?

Edit: Just saw your comment below. Thanks.

  • +2

I have removed the Hiver card out of Google Wallet. Set an alarm to check back on the 5th next month to get cashback and close account.

    Nice knowing you, Hiver !!

    • +2

Removed too,but you should get a SMS when the cashback is deposited.

  • +3

Thank you for the effort made to compile this list, sad the promo has ended

  • +3

Don't forget to request to Resign My Membership for $10 bonus!
(use message in app, select that option)

Did that yesterday & received message in Hiver app…
Send account details to deposit the $10 joining share value into!
Will then receive email verifying account closure.

  • +3

Although the Cashback is coming to an end, keep an eye out for more exciting offers like this in the future.

This is what Hiver wrote after I messaged them about short notice. Anyone know anything?

    • +4

Hiver likely said that to you to stem the bleed of account closures.

The statement isn't even a promise that Hiver will do something.

I agree with others—Hiver has been OzBargained. The bank didn't handle it well.

    • +2

Yes I replied to them to expect an exodus of customers and to see if there is anything I could link to.

  • +3

    Email after Terminating account
    (No longer can access account
    No pending cashback
    App uninstalled)

Although we’re sad to see you go, this email is to let you know that we’ve now closed your Hiver membership.

We’ve transferred $10 to your nominated bank account. This is a refund for the $10 membership share that was deducted from your account when you joined.

A final account statement will be provided at the end of the current financial year.

If you have any questions, please reach out to [email protected].
    The Hiver Team

    • So did they actually pay you $10 for the membership share?

      • +1

Suggest transfer will take 3 business days from today.

      • +1

Just received the $10 refund of signup share value. Nice bonus!

  • +1

Sept cashback just came through, transferred out remaining funds and requested to resign membership as suggested.

Thanks for the CB Hiver! Was good while it lasted.

  • +4

Received a message from Hiver yesterday (3 Nov) that they will honour any transaction made on the 7th regardless of the processed date!

I've just received extra $72 cashback for transactions made on the 6th Sept with processed date on the 8th Sept !! Thanks Hiver!

    • Same here :)

  • still seem to be receiving cashback, once in Oct and now in Nov. Have they continued it? haven't really use the card in the last 2 months, so not sure if it is exactly the case.

    • Check out your message on hiver app ;)

      • Have they extended CB to members??

    • +2

      Hello Hivers,
We heard that some Members did not received their cashback for transactions made on 7 September 2022.
Due to a delay in receiving these transactions by a third party, the 'processed date' fell outside of the campaign period.
We'd like to make things right and honour the cashback for transactions made on that day. A credit for any outstanding cashback will be deposited into your bank account within the next 5 working days.
      Kind regards,
      Hiver Team

I received an amazing cashback of $0.31 in November. Yay!!!

      • I received $35 but can't access my account lol

      • wow generous! bring back this campaign ~!
