  • I have 2 months old ebay account but never used ebay plus trial and never purchased it. But have ordered products from the account. Am i eligible ?

    • +1

Sounds like you're the target market.

    • Yep!

  • looks like theres no coupon codes for signing up sadly

  • My last 12mnth ebay+ sub, they cancelled it on me nearly half way through, refunded me $26 for signing up with the $49yr get $50 ebay coupon, lol

    • Why they cancelled?

      • Not sure, they just did and said it was a glitch, guess they just didn't want me as a customer 😂

  • I guess you only get your cash back after your 1 month free trial

    • +1

I guess it would track straight away if you have already used up your free trial and just pay for the year

  • Damn, I just signed up for ebay plus on the 17th…

  • So is this OK say you finished your eBay plus yearly subscription couple months back? Does this still qualify or only for first time users with eBay plus only?

I have more then one account so reading OPs comments if you already have eBay plus on your account this can't be stacked on top? Thought I'd ask, I'm sure it's a big NO lolz

And thanks OP nice find 👍

      • Existing eBay Plus Customers will not be eligible for cashback on Sign Ups

      ?

Had eBay plus for about 3 years. It lapsed over the past 6 months and haven't noticed much difference to my eBay spending. Maybe it's ok for $9

  • Hope eBay plus will have some decent deals

  • +1

I just tried to do this from my Shopback account but the green Shopback sign is not showing when it goes to ebay to try to do the Ebay Plus membership, it is just the red $ moving up and down…..I don't want to do it and then I don't get the cashback

    • Hmmm, very odd, have you got the most updated version of our extension? Can always use our app if you're concerned, I find it the most straightforward and has less margin for error re: tracking.

  • Is it better to sign up via webpage or app for tracking purposes?

    • I usually recommend the app if you can, less margin for error on other extensions/plug-ins activating and invalidating cashback.

      • Sorry - Meant eBay app or eBay webpage?

        • +1

Ah sorry, either should be fine, I've had no trouble using their app myself through ShopBack, but as a general rule I'd usually recommend webpage as there's less margin for error re: tracking.

  • +8

Is it even worth the $9? Probably not.

    • +1

Good point, eBay plus really lack of good deals.

      • +1

ebay “customer service” the worst i have ever dealt with until my recent dealings with telstra

  • +1

    I'm currently a Plus member.
Can I cancel and then sign up again (immediately so to speak) to get the cashback?

    • Existing eBay Plus Customers will not be eligible

      • But the rep does say above "Repeat subscribers can take advantage of the Cashback offers so long as they do not have a current subscription."

@gotyourback Can we get clarification please?

        • +1

Cancellation only takes effect at the completion of your subscription, so I'd expect no.

Just set up a second eBay account.
My Plus Subscription expires in 2 weeks. But I'm thinking of jumping on this with my old account which I dumped back when eBay added FlyBuys points for new accounts only.

          • @ESEMCE:

Cancellation only takes effect at the completion of your subscription, so I'd expect no.

Yeah I figured. My subscription renewal date is actually 30 May, so I'm hoping this offer lasts until the end of the month (just like the eBay Plus Weekend which ends on 31 May), then I could cancel and sign up again to get the cashback hopefully.

    • @gotyourback….hello store rep…..waiting your answer for the same as above…..will it be worth doing it or not? like cancelling the current one and then rejoin after some time and also how long is this deal valid for…..

    • Hey hey, this is unlikely to work, as @ESEMCE explained, cancellation takes effect at the end of the month, so you wouldn't be able to sign up a new customer to take advantage of this.

eBay has become harder to use with multi-item listings, reduced sales, price jacks during sales, difficult to leave negative feedback.

eBay is quite often not the cheapest now even considering free postage with plus.

Without these discounts, they'd be losing users. $9 is well worth it in my opinion.

    • +12

Yes, making it hard to leave negative feedback is a strange one. Makes it much harder to trust the reviews on there now. I'm a 20+ year eBay member but I'm purchasing from eBay less and less over time.

    • +1

For $9 (or even less if you can stack the $20 voucher successfully pending confirmation from @gotyourback ) it's definitely worth it to have it for just in case scenarios.

Time to time they have certain cheapy items for free when certain sellers take advantage of coupons. Last year I got a surprisingly OKAY resistance band set, a xiaomi pen, and a set of screen protectors for free, delivered)

    • +2

You mailed it! I was a heavy eBay user (buying and selling) - but the multi items (which make it impossible to sort buy price), feedback rules, too many confusing discounts and you never know what is included, high fees for selling I just don't use it anymore.

      • should have emailed it!

    • +1

Ebay used to be good for buying from ebay sellers. Now I feel like the main benefit is buying sale items from stores like Big W and EB Games when there is a discount code and you get free delivery.

    • +1

Yes, I declined the ebay-issued $30 rebate for the $49 purchase, but $40 rebate likely makes it worth it.

  • at $9/year every ozb membership should come with mandatory to sign ebay plus.
that way when we have ebay plus deal / price error no one will say "oh crap im not plus"

  • +1

Thanks for posting! I did this by following the link and purchasing through the ShopBack app. I understand it’s going to track at $0 to begin with but is it still meant to show up in the ShopBack app somewhere that I’ve done it? Right now there’s nothing that says it’s in progress or pending or anything like that. And when I click on the offer from the ShopBack homepage for this deal it just takes me through as if I haven’t purchased yet. Sorry I’m new to ShopBack

    • +1

Hey Hokage! Sorry for the concern here mate, no stress, tracking for cashback can sometimes take a short while. We find for eBay it can take anywhere from 2-48 hours, depends on when eBay can send over their data to us. If you find this doesn't end up tracking, though, shoot me a DM, I'll help sort you out :)

      • Ok awesome! I’ll keep an eye on it. Thanks for the reassurance :)

  • +2

When (what time) does this promo expire ? Is this a one-day deal?

    • +2

Was about to ask this too… @gotyourback Any idea?

    • I'm keen to know as my membership expires 25.05.22

      • he just answered "limited time" so obviously ebay haven't told him when the end date is

    • +1

Hey! This hasn't been confirmed yet, but will be a limited time. Will update if I hear anything!

How long is this deal valid for :)?

  • +3

how long does it take to track?
got it through the app almost an hour ago but nothing yet. I have already used the plus trial so my purchase went through straight away.

    • +1

Yeah same I did it on my desktop half hour ago and not tracked yet…

      • +1

Did the same on mobile and has not shown up in click history either. Has always worked with cashrewards. Already concerned.

        • Just checked my click history and nothing there…I am worried now.

          • +2

@ttkc: Hey team - having some issues with Click Activity at the mo - I've flagged with tech to take a look into. Tracking should still come through, can just take a short while with eBay. If it's not tracking in 48 hrs, shoot me a DM so I can take a look.

            • @gotyourback: Thanks rep, appreciate the follow up. Will keep a look out for the tracking.

            • @gotyourback: Click activity is now showing up. Just need to ensure tracking follows.

      • Same, I did it this AM around lunch time, still no tracking

I should use the mob APP

        • ME TOO

          • @xenb: Same. Signed up around 630pm. Still nothing. Hopefully it'll track by tomorrow

        • Finally, the tracking shows up in my account today.

  • +2

Let's just hope it tracks properly….Shopback has been pretty ordinary lately!

  • +1

OP / @gotyourback, when does this deal finish? Thank you

  • @GYB, is there a cap on cashback ?

like $40 per account ? or $40 per transaction ?

    • Hey mate, this is honoured by us per eBay account, as one account can only have the one subscription to get the cashback on.

Please note in their T's and C's they reserve the right to disallow customers who engage in "conduct which eBay considers unfair, fraudulent or untoward".

      • So can get $80 for two eBay plus signup's.

Also pm'd you when you get time please reply kindly

        • +1

Got a fair few DMs today, plus gotta take care of our commenters, but surely will reply ASAP.

        • Yeah wondering if possible to get 2x $40 (for 2 separate eBay plus subscriptions) on the one SB account @gotyourback

          • @CVonC: Hey, these might still track on our end, however this could violate eBay's terms so you're risking the accounts being shut down re: eBay's T's and C's mentioned above, so I wouldn't advise doing so.

  • Thanks, Dealbot.

  • @gotyourback My ebay trial expired on the 2nd of may and haven't subcribed to ebay after it expired. Am I eligible for this?

    • Yep!

  • @gotyourback I have sent a PM regarding a tracking issue a couple of days ago. Can you please assist me with this? Thanks

    • Hey mate, working through DM's, I'll get back to you ASAP.

  • @gotyourback someone suggested above that navigate to a different page and get $20 voucher plus shopback cashback

Can you please confirm that navigating away is ok . do we past the link provided above in browser. whats the safest way to not loose on cashback

    thanks

    • +1

I think if you click on another link then it won't work. I want to know if I leave the sign up page I get directed to on ebay, to go to my ebay account and the banner pops up in my account for the $20 voucher (as it does randomly) if I click on the banner in ebay if that still works, or if that negates the cashback too? It is still ebay, but will that count as leaving the ebayplus page? I don't want to get a $20 voucher but then miss out on the $40 cashback, but it would be handy to get both lol

      • +4

Hey hey, we're checking with our team to see what the best practices for this is. Will update ASAP.

        • hi mate, any updates thanks

          • @lobzter: Read other comments, it's already answered

I remember not long ago eBay plus member many ozbargain join for $1 or $5 for one year. I was subscribed for $5 because at that time l joined l want to buy an AirPod for $99 but l didn’t get any because it was sold out in less than 10 second since that time l didn’t see any benefit for eBay plus members even for $5. This time $9 l will not fall again!!! eBay plus not suit for me but it might suit for someone who purchased from eBay a lot. Amazon prime is better all the way!!!

      cool

    My sequence was on desktop computer;

Opened Shopback email to website, saw $40 promotion & then clicking the banner to eBay once on eBay my home page is $20 promo. Signed up!

This would of all been tracked via Shopback so believe got both?

    • +1

      @gotyourback can you confirm thanks

            • @souths123: I* was lucky mine working, 24hrs after said $0 tracked 12hr later changed to $40. Also got $20 voucher code! There's loads of people who have reported *Fail

    • Was seeing that $20 banner recently a lot, but today nowhere to be seen even with your process!

  • @gotyourback, I've cancelled my ebay plus autorenew but it's still active until July. Can I sign up for this deal and will it append the date for me? i.e. Will I get another year added to my Jul end date?

    • Existing eBay Plus Customers will not be eligible for cashback on Sign Ups

    • Hey hey, as cancelled accounts do remain active until the end of your paid period, you wouldn't be able to make a new subscription that'd be valid for this offer until your subscription ends. You can renew your subscription, but you wouldn't be able to take advantage of this offer I'm afraid, as it's only available for customer without an active subscription at the moment.

      • Just extend this offer until then, thanks! Haha.

        • Hahaha, I'd love to mate! I can only work so many miracles, sadly.

          • @gotyourback: Have you had a chance to confirm if this is a 'just for today' deal yet :)?

            • +1

@Catsfan070911: Definitely not just for today, but we don't have a confirmed end date as yet, I'm afraid.

              • @gotyourback: Thanks for the response, much appreciated :)

              • @gotyourback: Thanks for your work GYB. Just a suggestion, if possible, when you know the end date, please do give a day or 2 notice to the community, and not a couple hours before :)

  • +3

@gotyourback Can you please let us know if we click thru the $20 voucher banner we are still eligible to get the $40 cashback? when does the offer end? thanks

    • he will get back to use about the voucher banner. He doesn't know when it is going to end, but it is not for long. Who knows? Today? Tomorrow as well? Not sure. He can't say how long it is for.

  • I just tried to register for EbayPlus via my phone app going from ShopBack app to the Ebay app.
After entering my credit card info and agreeing on the T&C for $49/year, it prompts me to "Start 30-day free trail".
So I just click start trial to get this $40 cashback tracked?

    Thanks.

    • So it sounds like you've never had an eBay Plus subscription before? If so, you won't get the cashback, as the $49 payment will only take place after your trial finishes.

EDIT: Ignore me - seems like it applies for new subscriptions?
