    • Mine is expected next Wednesday, 8 June 2022

      • Hey, did you happen to get a screenshot of the price alongside the model number, either on product page or checkout cart?

        • No sorry, why's that?

    • +2

Actually I just checked and it updated the ETA to Thursday, 2 June 2022 :)

    • +2

Update: it arrived today, a day earlier than estimated! XD

  • PayPal doesn’t work

  • I need to upgrade my old i5-6600k/RX580 desktop, but don't really need a laptop. Anyone able to recommend a desktop equivalent of these specs, or this price?

    • Probably wait for the next TechFast 3060 deal, eg:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/699700

Match the GPU and CPU first, and everything else is secondary.

    • What's wrong with it?

In most cases, upgrading components is ideal.

      • +2

Sure - all they'd need to do is replace some minor bits like motherboard, CPU, GPU, RAM, power supply…

    • If you can DIY: 5500 <$200 and a 6600 for $400 would be comparable. That leaves you $400 to get 16GB DDR4, case, mobo, 500GB m.2, PSU which should be doable albeit on the cheaper end.

      • thanks - however this build also doesn't provide the portability of a laptop. I was wondering if a comparable desktop could be built much cheaper but it doesn't seem likely.

Unfortunately this laptop doesn't have USB 3.2 Gen 2, which is a bit of a deal-breaker. Deciding whether to cancel my order.

        • +1

You won't get anything like this for under $1000. If you can stretch the budget to $1200+ then I would grab a techfast PC with a 3060 Ti or 3070.

  • Hell of a good deal, if only I had an edusuction email address.

    • +2

      How keen are you?

I can PM you access but you need to enable PMs.

Edit: Hmmm, I don't see it on the store.

      • +1

I can still see it on my education page and seems to be working for other people

      • am keen for access

      • I would be keen on access, won't even accept the edu email I have lol

      • +1

Thanks this lad is a legend 🙏

      • Keen as well, thanks!

      • I'm keen as well. Thanks!

      • I am keen as well

  • Awesome deal, have been back and forth considering buying a PC or laptop for a few months now.
    Too good to pass up!
Added benefit is you could easily sell second hand for the same price (if not more) if you change your mind.

  • Any idea how long this deal will last?

  • Thanks! Ordered one :-)

  • +1

Don't forget to signup to Lenovo rewards. I forgot to sign up and missed a potential $23.

    • I tried but kept saying it was unavailable, so just gave up as didn't want to risk it going out of stock.

  • +1

Missed out on the previous laptop deals, thanks OP! Can finally upgrade my parents computer

    • Hey, did you happen to get a screenshot of the price alongside the model number, either on product page or checkout cart?

  • cheers, good bang code is GGIP3

    • ? Whats that for? ah, nevermind..

  • +2

I have impulsed bought a laptop… though my 11 year old Macbook air was getting a bit slow…

    • +1

I have a max spec Macbook Pro 2013 15” and decided to pull the trigger on this budget laptop too. The Apple bubble is getting to expensive to live within.

      • I purchased this too, I expect my $1k refurb m1 MacBook Air to far outlive this plastic gaming hot box though. The Apple bubble is cheaper than ever for solid specs and longevity

    • Hey, did you happen to get a screenshot of the price alongside the model number, either on product page or checkout cart?

  • +2

Wish this had full functional USB C

    • wait, what?!

      • Well assuming this is the same model. It says:

        1 x USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 (support data transfer only)

Which is no bueno for me, need something that can do power/video/data :(

        • damn, no good for me either but I've already ordered. Wonder if I can cancel?

      • +1

No display out over USB-C is what I presume they mean. You can still get an external display connected via the HDMI port (though obviously not quite as convenient as having it all in one).

        EDIT: beaten by seconds!

  • +1

I bit the bullet and got one. Irresistible at this price. Was psyching myself up to pay 3k for a 3080 laptop, as I prepare to re-enter the gaming sphere after a 3 year hiatus thanks to study and work, but this is going to be a very reasonable contender that will get me going. I can put that 2k towards something later. Just a phenomenal price.

    • there's not much benefit in getting 3080 over 3070 in mobile world.

get a 3070 for $2k and it will last you

    • Hey, did you happen to get a screenshot of the price alongside the model number, either on product page or checkout cart?

  • Thanks op, got one. Just noticed they have an extra 11% off sitewide with the code EDUEOFY. Don't know if that can be stack with the other code already given with this deal.

    • +1

Nah, I can confirm they don't stack. Just go with the coupon that's automatically given to you. I've checked all the other available coupons pick up by honey and they're nowhere near as good.

      • +1

        Thanks for confirming

    • Hey, did you happen to get a screenshot of the price alongside the model number, either on product page or checkout cart?

  • 3000 clicks in just a few hours, I wonder if there will be any cancelled orders

    • +1

It's advertised in a banner on the education store, so its not an error at least.

    • Still says in stock. Assuming not all clicks are going to be actual purchases, especially cause not everyone has education store. I ordered before I posted so hoping there is no issues for me. But, I would really regret posting the deal if they end up cancelling my order.

    • Has been 500+ orders already today.

  • +1

Does the order show up under your account after you submit it?

I tried to pay by PayPal and on submit the Lenovo site says "PayPal isn't available right now". There is a transaction for $999 on my PayPal account but nothing under my "Orders".

    • had the same issue lets see what happens

      • +2

I ended up ordering again with my credit card. This time the transaction went through, it showed up under "Orders" and I got an order confirmation email. Reckon I can dispute the pending PayPal charge if it doesn't get cancelled on its own.

        • Same happen to me. I called up Lenovo and they gave a confirmation of my credit card purchase. They asked for the Pay Pal transaction ID and they voided that transaction and emailed me the confirmation.

    • +2

I tried twice and got two 'Pending' transactions on my Paypal. I called them up to get it sorted out, but their payments team are too busy to take my call (the initial customer service person tried to put me through a few times). Not a fun experience.

      • omg I did the same do I call PayPal what do I do

        • +2

I called Lenovo, it's still not sorted out yet, but if the Pending transactions just expire off, it will be ok as there is currently no hold on funds for the amounts pending on the linked credit card. In the end I just used credit card payment to buy the laptop and it went through ok.

  • Thank OP. Impulse-bought a laptop this time xD

  • +3

So I got one for my son. He wanted a budget laptop for school work and occasional casual gaming - so I think this one fits the bill. Are there any potential upgrades in terms of RAM anyone would recommend with this laptop down the track? (i.e. if I'm upgrading RAM do I need to add another 16GB and if so, is there a specific type of DDR4 I need?) And is there provision for another SSD or upgrade to the SSD in this one?

  • +4

Did I just impulse buy a $1K laptop ahhhhhhh the guilt is real

    • +3

That's why you come back at the end of the day when it's OOS and see how many people are sad they missed out and it picks you right back up again

  • -4

I bought a 3k Lenovo legion 7i 2021 laptop with, 11800H intel, 3080 16gb vram GPU and I’m getting worse performance than a desktop 3050. Unstable and crashing while gaming, and this is the top of the line laptops from Lenovo.

I managed to get 13k score on 3Dmark timespy graphics benchmark with full memory overclock. 50fps on cyberpunk ultra settings with ray tracing at 2k resolution. Disappointing.

Would advise against their lower tier gaming laptops as they are bound to have issues arise after purchase and are a pain to get a refund or support.

  • does this have thunderbolt ports?

    • +2

No, laptops with AMD CPUs won't have Thunderbolt until Ryzen 6000 earliest. Thunderbolt is a technology developed by Intel & Apple.

      • Thanks for the info!

  • +8

I would have jumped on this but I have to save for some petrol.

  • Great price but I am after a laptop with long battery life so will sadly pass it

    • What the battery life on this ?

      • Up to about 6hrs for productivity due to the iGPU. You will probably get about 1hr if your try to game on battery if your lucky with the 3060.

  • +1

    Awesome deal, thank you!!!

Does anybody know their delivery method? Is it Aus Post or someone else?

And what happens if you're not home when they try to deliver? This is my biggest online purchase since I moved to an apartment so a bit nervous.

    • I am sure they will send a tracking number ?

    • +1

Does anybody know their delivery method? Is it Aus Post or someone else?

Was DHL when I purchased from them around Xmas. Signature required on delivery.

Not 100% sure but think I got carded and had to pick up from a DHL agent (newsagent or local shop for me) when I missed the delivery.

  • -3

OMG, it says the full price on the receipt!

    0.45 (marginal tax rate) x $2239 = $1003
    $999 - $1003 = -$4

I just salary packaged a free laptop with a $4 profit.
    Absolute legend OP!!!

    • +2

You got a receipt already? In the email confirmation, it says the full price but also the price after discount ($999).

      • From the fact this person is downvoted, three meanings seem likely.

        1. There is no such calculation
        2. People are jealous
        3. People with very high morals did it. (At OB unlikely including myself :)
      • -2

It says a voucher of $1230, the same as you'd get using a gift voucher. Don't know why I'm getting downvoted for being savvy on a bargain website, but go figure. If it were cashback, you'd salary package the full price, so its no worse. Clear conscience, nothing to do with morals lol.

      • Hey, did you happen to get a screenshot of the price alongside the model number, either on product page or checkout cart/receipt that you'd be able to share please?

    • how does this work?

      • If your employer allows it (i.e. government), you can salary package this laptop, or if you use it for work, tax deduct it and get back an amount equal to your marginal tax rate. This deal involves a coupon code worth >55% of the full price, so at a 45% marginal tax rate, the laptop is essentially free.

        • but you only actually pay 999? you can't claim a discount right?

          • +1

@ppdogs: Only if it's a voucher or cashback.

            • @M0RGAN: yep, so not applicable to this deal.

              • -2

@ppdogs: Mate, there's literally a voucher code in the description.

Do you know how salary packaging works? You submit a claim with a receipt. If the receipt has the full price on it, you claim the full price. If you couldn't include vouchers, that would screw over anyone using gift vouchers. Discounts no, vouchers/cashback yes.

                • @M0RGAN: I understand it working for gift vouchers. But this is an actual discount/sale where I never actually paid that amount?
Anyways all good, If it works like that that's great i guess :)
                  FYI
                  Sub total:$2,229.00
                  eCoupon code:GGIP3
                  eCoupon savings:$1,230.00
                  Shipping:FREE
                  Total savings:$1,230.00
                  Total inc GST:$999.00

                  • -2

@ppdogs: Haha, no worries :) I admit, some people might see it as exploiting a loophole (hence the downvotes) but the way I see it, I would've claimed the same amount if I paid full price. I'm basically getting the savings that I spent the time looking for myself (in voucher form and not just a discount/sale), rather than sharing them with taxpayers.

We'll see what the tax invoice says, maybe I'll eat my words, but its always worked from past experience (just not on this scale lol).

                    • @M0RGAN: I have claimed two laptops in the past. My SS provider only allows me to claim the actual amount paid, so in this case it will be $999. Will be a really good deal with yours allow you to claim the full amount.

                    • +1

@M0RGAN: Just got my tax invoice, sorry to tell you it says $999.00 ($908.18 plus GST). No mention of the coupon/discount at all.

                      • @djkelly69: My invoice says $999 with no coupon and discount also.

                      • -1

@djkelly69: Got it too, haha. Absolutely ate my words.
eBay invoices with vouchers don't even show the final price. Oh well… $550 is still a good deal.

    • -1

Hey, did you happen to get a screenshot of the price alongside the model number, either on product page or checkout cart/receipt?

  • +4

Far out, and I thought the HP Victus with similar specs I got for $1379 was decent.

    Great deal.

  • How would you output from this to dual screens?

  • Buying a gaming laptop with edu login sounds contradicting, not that I am against gaming altogether. This is a great deal, I remember people going crazy for the Acer Nitro Deal which was more expensive than this.

    • +4

I suppose students probably have more time to game compared to someone who works 9-5.

      • +1

Time wise you are right on point!
